    In 1853, a Catholic mission station was founded in Olecko. Land property was bought with an intention to build a church. Johannes Osinski became the first priest of this town on 22nd May 1853. His duties included the organisation of Catholic ministry in the Olecko district. In the years 1859-1861, a Neogothic church was built in Olecko; it was blessed on 1st December 1861. Bishop Antoni Frenzel dedicated the temple to the Holy Cross and Saint Adalbert on 27th August 1862. A Catholic school in this town was founded probably in 1866, but it was closed quite soon afterwards. Rural chapels serviced by the priest of Olecko were founded, among others, in a village named Borawskie and in a settlement named Kozia Góra (Ziegenberg). At the end of the 19th century, the priest from Olecko also celebrated Catholic Masses in Gołdap. One of the greatest problems of the Catholic community in Olecko was to guarantee appropriate remuneration for the priest. He received an yearly allowance from the Boniface and Adalbert Associationin Frombork. Numerous construction and redecoration works on the church buildings were also funded from this source. In 1929, the legal status of the Olecko pastoral institution was approved by the state authorities.

    Realizacja zasady podmiotowości w opiece ma swój specyficzny wymiar w działalności prowadzonej w placówkach katolickich. Określenie opieki mianem posługi miłości wskazuje na międzyosobowe relacje w jej spełnianiu i oparcie motywacji na przykazaniu miłości. Uwzględnienie tego odniesienia zobowiązuje do zachowania wszelkich standardów zarówno w sprawowaniu opieki z szacunkiem do godności każdej osoby, wysokiej jakości jej czynności jak i wymogów obowiązującego prawa. W procesie tym następuje pełny rozwój jego podmiotów we wzajemnej wymianie wartości i świadczeń na miarę indywidualnych potrzeb i możliwości.
    The realization of the principle of subjectivity in care has its specific scope in the activities carried out in Catholic institutions. Defining care as a service of love indicates interpersonal relationships in its fulfillment, basing motivation on the commandment of love. Consideration of this reference obliges to maintain all standards, both in exercising care with respect for the dignity of each person, the high quality of its activities, as well as the requirements of applicable law. In this process, there is a full development of its entities in the mutual exchange of values and services tailored to individual needs and possibilities.

    In this article I analyze discursive practices that serve to reproduce models of femininity and that are adopted by lay women employed in central Church organizations, including in diocesan chanceries and ecclesiastical courts. The key discursive practice is dissociation, which excludes women from various institutional orders of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland, keeping them in their place in the hierarchy, and sanctioning non-normative gender models. Drawing on integration theories of gender and new institutionalism in sociology, I depart in this article from individualist and identity views of gender. I consider this category as a social institution, that is, as the social rules, both formal and informal, that restrict and liberate human action and are reproduced and transformed in social practices as a result of human agency. My article is based on 31 in-depth interviews which I conducted with lay women working in administrative and evangelizing organizations of the Church in Poland.

    Opis:
    While analysing the attitude of Primate of Poland Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński to West Pomerania, we may enumerate three basic aspects. Firstly, the role which Cardinal played by fulfilling the post of the ordinary of the ordinariate of Gorzów. He was then interested, among others, in the provision of the continuity of management in this territory. Secondly, mainly thanks to his efforts and involvement of bishops of Gorzów, they succeeded in 1972 in dividing the big apostolic administration of Gorzów into three smaller dioceses. Thirdly, the issue concerning the relation with the Christians from West Pomerania is equally significant. Primate was very frequently visiting this region. In the opinion of the author of the article, the words “Concern and action” reflect best his interest in the fate of the Christians, who appeared after the war in the so-called Regained Lands.

    Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church, defines the family as marriage of woman and man who have children. This definition should be perceived in the context of the Church's social teachings, the teaching of John Paul II and Benedict XVI in particular. In the sociological approach, the whole society is based on the family that is understood as the most important basic social group, as an intimate relationship, based on mutual feeling, cooperation and mutual responsibility; reinforcement of the internal relations and interactions are the main focus of the family. According to the systemic approach, the family should be treated as a system, in which a change in its one part brings on a change in its other parts. The presented study is considering the issues concerning the family as a social institution in the context of the following main points: 1. Family – sociological approach; 2. The idea of civil society; 3. Spheres of civil society.

    Artykuł odnosi się do badań, które zostały przeprowadzone w Polsce w latach 2010-2012 we współpracy z Papieską Radą ds. Rodziny. Badania dotyczyły rodziny i jej funkcjonowania w warunkach społecznych w Polsce. Ich celem było zdiagnozowanie potrzeb rodzin, możliwych obszarów wsparcia i odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób obecna rodzina stanowi bogactwo społeczeństwa obywatelskiego. Katechizm Kościoła katolickiego, definiuje rodzinę jako małżeństwo kobiety i mężczyzny posiadających dzieci. Definicja ta powinna być postrzegana w kontekście nauki społecznej Kościoła, nauczania Jana Pawła II, a w szczególności Benedykta XVI. W ujęciu socjologicznym całe społeczeństwo opiera się na rodzinie, która jest rozumiana jako najważniejsza podstawowa grupa społeczna oparta na intymnej relacji zbudowanej na wzajemnym uczuciem, współpracy i wzajemnej odpowiedzialności; wzmocnienie stosunków wewnętrznych i interakcji są głównym celem rodziny. Zgodnie z podejściem systemowym, rodzina powinna być postrzegana jako system, w którym zmiana jednego elementu prowokuje zmiany w innych jego częściach. Przedstawione badania podejmują kwestie dotyczące rodziny jako instytucji społecznej w kontekście następujących głównych punktów: 1. Rodzina - podejście socjologiczne; 2. Idea społeczeństwa obywatelskiego; 3. Obszary społeczeństwa obywatelskiego.
    This article refers to research that has been carried out in Poland in 2010-2012 in collaboration with the Pontifical Council for the Family. The study concerned the family and its functioning in the social conditions in Poland. Their goal was to diagnose the needs of families, the possible areas of support and to answer the question how the present family is resource for civil society.     Artykuł omawia uwarunkowania współczesnego kryzysu małżeństwa jako sytuacji szczególnej polegającej na tym, że kwestionowane są wszystkie konstytutywne cechy małżeństwa: jego trwałość, płodność, publiczny charakter oraz to, że jest związkiem dwojga osób różnej płci. Autor uznaje, że mimo wszystko kryzys można starać się wykorzystać jako szansę rozwojową, i kreśli założenia społecznej reaktywacji małżeństwa, uznając że jest ona zadaniem chrześcijan.
    The article deals with the conditions of the contemporary crisis of marriage as a specific situation in which all the constitutional features of marriage like its durability, fertility, public character and the fact that it is the relation of two people of different sex, are being questioned. Nevertheless, the author claims that the crisis can be used as a developing opportunity and sketches the assumptions of the social reactivation of marriage as a task for Christians.
