Treścią artykułu jest analiza ikonograficzno-teologiczna ikony Trójcy Świętej, napisanej przez Andrzeja Rublowa. Według Katechizmu Kościoła prawosławnego istnieje ścisła analogia w przedstawieniu Trójcy Świętej na ikonie a prawdami wiary wyrażonymi w Credo. Idąc tym tropem, w artykule zanalizowano poszczególne elementy ikony, takie jak: przedstawienie postaci aniołów, które odpowiadają poszczególnym osobom Trójcy Świętej; postawy, jakie zajmują wzajemnie wobec siebie; a także przedmioty, które im towarzyszom. We wszystkich tych elementach można odczytać ikonograficzne przedstawienie podstawowych prawdy wiary chrześcijańskiej w odniesieniu do tajemnicy Boga, Jego dzieła zbawczego w historii świata, a także w odniesieniu do relacji człowieka z Bogiem, który wchodząc w owe tajemnice poprzez kontemplację, otwiera się na dar przebóstwienia.
The content of the article is an iconographic and theological analysis of the icon of the Holy Trinity, written by Andriej Rublev. According to the Catechism of the Orthodox Church, there is a close analogy between the representation of the Holy Trinity in the icon and the truths of faith expressed in the Creed. Following this lead, the article analyzes the individual elements of the icon, such as the representation of the figures of angels that correspond to the individual persons of the Holy Trinity, the attitudes they take towards each other, as well as the objects that accompany them. In all these elements, one can read the iconographic representation of the basic truths of the Christian faith in relation to the mystery of God, His saving work in the history of the world, as well as in relation to the relationship of man with God, who, entering these mysteries through contemplation, opens up to the gift deification.

Artykuł prezentuje wybrane zagadnienia z dydaktyki chrześcijańskiej Stanisława Witkiewicza, której założenia zawarł on m.in. w rozprawach Wallenrodyzm czy znikczemnienie? oraz Chrześcijaństwo i katechizm. Główne rozważania koncentrują się na objaśnieniu, w jaki sposób Witkiewicz krytykował system nauczania religii w szkołach, a także bezpośrednio związany z nim Katechizm Kościoła katolickiego. W tekście została także poruszona problematyka definiowania chrześcijaństwa na przełomie XIX i XX w., czego również podejmował się sam Witkiewicz. Analiza wybranych fragmentów tekstów publicystycznych rekonstruuje jego autorską koncepcję wychowania patriotyczno-religijnego dzieci i młodzieży, na której opierał swój ruch reformatorski.
The article presents selected topics form the Christian didactics of Stanisław Witkiewicz, the foundations of which were included, among others, in dissertations Wallenrodyzm czy znikczemnienie? and Chrześcijaństwo i katechizm. The main thought concentrates on explaining how Witkiewicz was criticizing the religious education system in schools, as well as the directly related catechism of the Catholic Church. The text also explaining the issue of defining Christianity between 19th and 20th centuries, which was also undertaken by Witkiewicz. The analysis of selected fragments of journalistic texts reconstructs his original conception of patriotic and religious education of youth on which all his reform movement was based.

400th anniversary of the martyrdom of Saint Jozafat Kuncewicz is an op-portunity to look at the bishopʼs activities in Polotsk. The author of the article begins presenting the reforming activity of Archbishop Josaphat by depicting historical conditions of the Polotsk diocese in the beginning of the 16th century. He emphasizes the need for reforms in the spiritual and moral field. This church at the time was in a state of deep economic, moral and spiritual crisis. The Archbishop focused on raising the intellectual and moral level of the clergy through diocesan synods, promoting the Catechism and the rules of priestly life. He targeted vices such as drinking, gambling addiction, and greed. He demanded his priests follow the rules of priestly life proper to the Church. Josaphat also undertook the work of moral and religious upliftment of the lay faithful. He used sermons and personal dialogue as a tool to combat widespread religious ignorance. He encouraged people to go to confession frequently and regularly participate in the Eucharist. The article draws on materials from the beatification and canonization process of St. Josaphat and the most important studies of the Saintʼs biography in Polish. The author emphasizes the relevance of Saint Josaphat’s reforming methods. He highlights the value of dialogue as an effective tool of evangelization.
400-lecie męczeństwa św. Jozafata Kuncewicza stanowi okazję do przyjrzenia się działalności biskupa w Połocku. Autor artykułu ukazuje reformatorską działalność abp Jozafata wychodząc od uwarunkowań historycznych diecezji połockiej w pocz. XVI w. Podkreśla konieczność reform w dziedzinie duchowej i moralnej. Kościół ten znajdował się w stanie głębokiego kryzysu ekonomicznego, moralnego i duchowego. Arcybiskup skupił się na pod niesieniu poziomu intelektualnego i moralnego duchowieństwa poprzez synody diecezjalne, propagowanie Katechizmu oraz reguł życia kapłańskiego. Zwalczał wady, takie jak pijaństwo, uzależnienie od hazardu i chciwość. Od swych kapłanów żądał zachowywania reguł życia kapłańskiego, właściwego Cerkwi. Jozafat podjął się również dzieła podniesienia moralnego i religijnego wiernych świeckich. Jako narzędzie walki z powszechną ignorancją religijną wykorzystywał kazania i osobisty dialog. Zachęcał do częstego korzystania ze spowiedzi i systematycznego uczestnictwa w Eucharystii. W artykule wykorzystano materiały z procesu beatyfikacyjnego i kanonizacyjnego św. Jozafata oraz najważniejszych opracowań życiorysu Świętego w języku polskim. Autor podkreśla aktualność metod działania reformatorskiego św. Jozafata. Uwydatnia rolę dialogu jako skutecznego narzędzia ewangelizacji.

The booklet entitled Christianity. Fundamental Teachings, published by the Joint Commission of Churches in Turkey in 2018, expresses the shared beliefs of the Christian Churches in Turkey. It can be seen as a landmark in inter-church efforts to draw closer together. Trying to explain Christianity to non- Christians, the booklet presents the key elements of the Christian faith in a clear and easily comprehensible way. This article provides a synthetic presentation of the content of this booklet and shows issues that are important in the Turkish context. Since the call for “an ecumenical catechism” resonates from time to time in the international and inter-church areas, this joint publication of the Churches in Turkey can be a good example of such a catechism for other Churches worldwide. Moreover, this booklet can serve as a good teaching tool for Christians or non-Christians. Thus it is worth studying, translating, commenting on and implementing after being appropriately adjusted to other social, cultural and religious contexts.

Dokumenty Kościoła katolickiego w odniesieniu do szóstego sakramentu posługują się terminem „sakrament święceń”. Tymczasem w wielu polskich tłumaczeniach takich dokumentów, w starszych podręcznikach, a nawet wypowiedziach hierarchów kościelnych pojawia się termin „sakrament kapłaństwa”. Niniejsze opracowanie stara się odpowiedzieć na pytanie, czy te dwa terminy mogą być używane zamiennie, czy też zamienne ich stosowanie łączy się z poważnym problemem umiejscowienia poszczególnych stopni święceń we właściwej optyce teologiczno-kanonistycznej.
The documents of the Catholic Church use the term „sacrament of Holy Orders” in relation to the sixth sacrament. Meanwhile, in many Polish translations of such documents, in older textbooks and even in the statements of church hierarchs, the term „sacrament of Holy Orders” appears. This study seeks to answer the question whether these two terms can be used interchangeably, or whether their interchangeable use is connected with the serious problem of locating the various degrees of ordination in the proper theological-canonical perspective.

Analiza poziomu recepcji Katechizmu Kościoła Katolickiego w ostatnim czterdziestoleciu w warunkach polskich wykazała bogactwo zdarzeń związanych z tą tematyką. Poszczególne wskazania prezentowanego dokumentu różniły się między sobą częstotliwością występowania, sposobami cytowania i rangą miejsc ich prezentacji. Przywoływane fragmenty Katechizmu certyfikowały zarówno kwestie zasadnicze, jak również sprawy mniej ważne dla wiary i moralności chrześcijan. Najczęściej dokument był przywoływany w celu obrony kwestii moralnych w nauczaniu Kościoła oraz w promowaniu zagadnienia hierarchizacji prawd wiary katolickiej. Dla nauczania katechetycznego w minionym czterdziestoleciu wartość tego dokumentu miała charakter normatywny. Głębsze powiązanie katechezy z treściami przekazanymi przez Katechizm Kościoła Katolickiego w praktyce oznaczało, że dokumenty katechetyczne, takie jak dyrektoria, podstawy programowe i programy nauczania, liczne serie podręczników do nauczania religii oraz sama katecheza, były przeniknięte treścią i duchem tego dokumentu. W praktyce wyraziło się to w eksponowaniu zasady chrystocentryzmu, „wierności Bogu i człowiekowi”, jak również w strategii poszukiwania nowych sposobów prezentacji orędzia ewangelicznego w czasach rewolucji informatycznej. Przesłanie Katechizmu Kościoła Katolickiego było w minionych czterech dekadach w katechezie polskiej nieustannie głoszone, słuchane, celebrowane, przeżywane i komentowane.
This year we are celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The document, awaited many years by believers, contained a popularly outlined interpretation of the most important principles of faith, morals, worship and prayer. The purpose of this article is to analyse the significance of this document for the catechetical activities of the Catholic Church in Poland over the past four decades since its publication. The previous Roman Catechism served the Church for more than 400 years. A new document of such stature was to lead to a radical revision of the aims of catechesis, the prominence of its most important contents and the improvement of its methodological instrumentarium. The article will answer the following questions: “Has there really been a religious revival in the stages of adapting the Catechism of the Catholic Church to the realities of the local community of the Polish Church;” “Has it become the basis for a deeper reflection on the current state of catechesis?” It will also be important to answer the question: “Has there been a real popularisation of this document in Polish ecclesial, cultural and educational spaces?”

Artykuł służy przedstawieniu polskiego wydania z 1556 r. katechetycznego utworu skierowanego do dzieci znanego jako Mleko duchowne, którego łacińską wersję zredagował Pietro Paolo Vergerio. W pierwszej części zaprezentowano informacje bibliograficzne na temat druku oraz właściwości tekstu polskiego, a także omówiono kwestię adresatów spolszczenia oraz funkcjonalności zastosowanych w nim rozwiązań typograficznych. W części drugiej przedstawiono transkrypcję tekstu wraz z komentarzem językowym i podano szczegółowe zasady wydania.
The article presents the Polish edition of the 1556 catechetical instruction addressed to children known as the Spiritual Milk; its Latin version was edited by Pietro Paolo Vergerio. The first part contains bibliographical information about the printing and the characteristics of the Polish text. It also discusses the question of the audience of the translation and the functionality of its typographical solutions. The second part presents a transcription of the text together with a linguistic commentary and a detailed account of the applied transcription rules.

Sześć prawd wiary, którymi posługujemy się w naszej tradycji katechetycznej, zasługuje na pogłębioną analizę zarówno jeśli chodzi o ich genezę, jak i o ich treść. Artykuł w pierwszej części stanowi uzupełnienie artykułu Zbigniewa Kubackiego TJ odnośnie do ich genezy („Studia Bobolanum” 30 [2019] 4, s. 5–33), natomiast w drugiej części wskazuje na odnowioną potrzebę ich rozumienia, biorąc pod uwagę postulaty współczesnej teologii. Okazuje się, że w takiej perspektywie sześć prawd wiary zachowuje wartość jako krótka formuła wiary, choć można by dokonać w nich pewnych uzupełnień.
The six truths of faith, to which we refer in our catechetical tradition, deserves deeper analysis when it comes to both its origins and content. This article in its first part constitutes a supplementation of the article of Zbigniew Kubacki SJ dealing with the origins of the six truths of faith (“Studia Bobolanum” 30[2019] no. 4, 5–33),whereas second part points out the renewed need for the understanding of the truths taking into consideration the requirements of contemporary theology. It turns out that in such a perspective the sixtruths of faith preservesits value as a short formula of faith although certain supplementation could yet be made.

The official doctrine of the Catholic Church, contained in the magisterial documents, is still evolving. One recent example is the teaching on who is involved in transubstantiation in the Eucharist. In the Christian West, the words of institution have been emphasized for centuries, while in the Christian East, it has been the epiclesis since the fourth century. Some Catholic theologians explicitly stated that the epiclesis also participates in the conversion of bread and wine, even before the promulgation of this doctrine in the magisterial documents. The doctrinal shift in the Catholic Church regarding the topic of the epiclesis manifested itself in the Catechism of the Catholic Church in number 1105: “The Epiclesis is the intercession in which the priest begs the Father to send the Holy Spirit […], so that the offerings may become the body and blood of Christ.” In number 1353: “In the epiclesis, the Church asks the Father to send his Holy Spirit on the bread and wine, so that by his power they may become the body and blood of Jesus Christ […]. In the institution narrative, the power of the words and the action of Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit, make sacramentally present under the species of bread and wine Christ’s body and blood, […].” In numbers 1333 and 1357 and also in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal in article 79 c: “The epiclesis, in which, by means of particular invocations, the Church implores the power of the Holy Spirit that the gifts offered by human hands be consecrated, that is, become Christ’s Body and Blood [...].”
Oficjalna doktryna Kościoła Katolickiego, zawarta w dokumentach Urzędu Nauczycielskiego Kościoła, wciąż się rozwija. Jednym z najnowszych tego przykładów jest nauczanie o tym, co powoduje transsubstancjację podczas Eucharystii. Na chrześcijańskim Zachodzie od stuleci akcentowano słowa instytucji (ustanowienia), podczas gdy na chrześcijańskim Wschodzie od IV wieku jest to epikleza. Niektórzy teologowie katoliccy twierdzili, że epikleza powoduje również przemianę chleba i wina, jeszcze zanim doktryna ta pojawiła się w dokumentach Urzędu Nauczycielskiego Kościoła. Doktrynalna zmiana Kościoła Katolickiego jest opisana w Katechizmie Kościoła Katolickiego w pkt 1105: „Epikleza jest modlitwą wstawienniczą, w której kapłan prosi Ojca o posłanie Ducha Uświęciciela, by składane ofiary stały się Ciałem i Krwią Chrystusa [...]”, w pkt 1353: „W epiklezie Kościół prosi Ojca, aby zesłał Ducha Świętego [...] na chleb i wino, aby Jego mocą stały się Ciałem i Krwią Jezusa Chrystusa [...]. W opisie ustanowienia Eucharystii moc słów i działania Chrystusa oraz moc Ducha Świętego sprawia, że pod postaciami chleba i wina uobecnia się sakramentalnie Ciało i Krew Chrystusa, [...]”, w pkt 1333 i 1357 oraz w Ogólne wprowadzenie do Mszału rzymskiego w pkt 79 c: „Epikleza: to szczególne wezwanie, w którym Kościół błaga o zesłanie mocy Ducha Świętego, aby dary złożone przez ludzi zostały konsekrowane, czyli stały się Ciałem i Krwią Chrystusa, [...]”.

The Code of Canon Law (1983), the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1992; 1997) and the Motu Proprio, Omnium in mentem (2009) of Pope Benedict XVI, seek to give a clearer definition of the juridical and theological implication of the Diaconate, specifically that exercised in a permanent way. Prior to the modifications brought about by the Motu Proprio, Omnium in mentem, the Code (cann. 1008-1009), aligns the diaconate to the priesthood and the episcopate, without sufficiently highlighting the nature of their distinctiveness. This arcticle refers to the issue of means of catechesis in the canonical aspect. Firstly, there have been shown the rules which relate to necessity of using aids of catechetical activity. Then, it has been concentrated about issues of instruments dedicated to the orientation and general planning of catechetical activity in particular Church. Next it has been explained matter of catechisms and other writings pertaining to catechetical instruction. Finally, it has been focused on adio-visual aids and instruments of social communication in catechetical formation.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza – w ujęciu diachronicznym – poszczególnych cech językowych świadczących o wpływach polszczyzny na pojawienie się innowacji w fonetyce, morfologii i grafice języka liturgicznego Cerkwi unickiej na początku XVIII wieku na terenie Rzeczypospolitej. Podstawą analizy są teksty oryginalne, znajdujące się w Bibliotece Narodowej im. Wiernadskiego w Kijowie (Katechizm poczajowski 1768) i w Bibliotece Narodowej w Mińsku (Katechizm supraski 1722).
The article discusses the influence of Polish on the evolution of Ruthenian Uniate Church’s liturgical language in the eighteenth century in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth according a catechism text published in the Supraśl and Pochayiv Basilian Order Monasteries in 1722 and 1768. The Ruthenian Uniate Church catechism constitutes the basis for the linguistic analysis. The main objective of the article is to investigate how Middle Polish influenced the developing liturgical language of the Ruthenian Uniate Church. After analysing the text’s language, it could be said that in the period from the foundation of that church to the three partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Polish language had significant influence on the evolution of the church’s liturgical language and affected its phonetics and morphology.

The article considers some aspects of the genesis of preaching as a special genre of oral creativity in the Christian tradition and its importance in the Protestant propaganda of the confessional period. According to the author, preaching was of paramount importance to Luther starting with the first steps of his revision of the Christian creed. The reformer used the sermon not only as an instruction in the faith, but also as a kind of translator of his educational program – because only through the training of the population could he, from his point of view, convey the faithful the “divine message” and the idea of salvation.
