Tis article deepens the catechetical thinking in Italy for the last two decades,from the publication of the General Directory for catechesis.For analysing the following problem the catechetical view will be presented and it includes mostly the following important documents:The catechesis renewal,Meeting Jesus and The General Directory for catechesis. Te recent reflection is proposed through the revision of the catechetical issues of all the Italian Dioceses during the five National Italian conferences titled, In Jesus Christ,The new humanism. It must be noted that the General Directory for Catechesis has been demonstrated to be a valid instrument for the formation of the catechists and the transfer of evangelical vitality for the Dioceses and the parishes.With this document, there was a rise in the catechetical innitiatives guided mainly by the priests and the laity involved in this sector. During the years 1997- 2017 there was noted a return in the formation of the catechists and the preparation of catechesis.Infront of the new Challenges socio-political catechesis is shown as an important instrument for the Education of faith and for the intercultural and interreligious dialogue.
Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia myśl katechetyczną we Włoszech w ostatnim dwudziestoleciu od pojawienia się Dyrektorium ogólnego o katechizacji. Dla omówienia tematu została przedstawiona panorama katechetyczna zawarta w ważniejszych dokumentach: Odnowa katechezy, Spotykamy Jezusa i oczywiście Dyrektorium Ogólne o katechizacji. Do refleksji dołączono przemyślenia katechetyczne reprezentantów wszystkich diecezji włoskich podczas 5 Krajowej Konferencji zatytułowanej W Jezusie Chrystusie nowy humanizm. DOK okazał się dobrym narzędziem w kształtowaniu katechetów oraz przekazaniu witalności ewangelizacyjnej diecezjom i parafiom. Dzięki temu dokumentowi pojawiło się wiele inicjatyw katechetycznych prowadzonych głównie przez duchowieństwo i zaangażowane osoby świeckie. W omawianym okresie zauważono zwrot w formacji katechetów i kształceniu katechetyków. W obliczu nowych wyzwań społeczno-politycznych katecheza ciągle pozostaje istotnym instrumentem wychowania do wiary oraz dialogu międzykulturowego i międzyreligijnego.

W Kościele istnieje ciągła potrzeba głoszenia Ewangelii młodym. Kościół pragnie dobrze rozeznać i zidentyfikować najbardziej skuteczne sposoby głoszenia Dobrej Nowiny kolejnym pokoleniom. Lekcja religii może stać się miejscem głoszenia Dobrej Nowiny. Środowisko szkolne ewangelizatorzy mogą ożywić przez takie treści, takie środki, taką dynamikę, które natchnione są Duchem Bożym. Od starożytności w Kościele są obecne różne modele ewangelizacji. Ewangelizacja ta zawsze czerpała ze słowa Bożego. Współczesny ewangelizator powinien najpierw rozeznać sytuację, w której przychodzi mu zwiastować słowo Boże i posłużyć się najbardziej odpowiednią strategią ewangelizacji. Te strategie są możliwe do wykorzystania w katechezie. Dziś katecheza korzysta z wielu metod ewangelizacji. Często spotyka się w niej metody wypracowane w Szkole Nowej Ewangelizacji. To staje się szansą dotarcia z orędziem Ewangelii do nowych pokoleń i rozbudzenia w nich radości wiary.
There is a constant need to preach the Gospel to young people in the Church. The Church wants to realize and identify the most effective ways to proclaim the Good News to the next generations. The lesson of religious education can become a place to preach the Good News. Evangelizers can revitalize the school environment through such content, such methods and such dynamics that are inspired by the Spirit of God. Various models of evangelization have been present in the Church since ancient times. This evangelization has always derived from the Word of God. The contemporary evangelist should first realize the situation in which he announces the Word of God and later should use the most appropriate strategy of evangelization. These strategies may be used during catechesis / religious education. Nowadays, it uses many methods of evangelization. One may often encounter the methods developed at the School of New Evangelization. This becomes an opportunity to deliver the message of the Gospel to the new generations and to awaken the joy of faith in them.

Młodość jest czasem kształtowania odniesienia do wartości. Rodzi się ono w wyniku rozwijającej się w tym okresie podmiotowości. Młodzi zdobywają się na osobisty stosunek do wielu wartości, w tym również do wiary w Boga. Stosunek ten kształtuje się na skutek wpływu rodziny, oddziaływania wspólnoty religijnej uzewnętrzniającej się przez parafie oraz nauczanie religii. Z drugiej strony jej postawa kształtuje się na skutek wychowawczego wpływu wielu wspólnot i instytucji przekazujących alternatywne spojrzenie na świat i inne odniesienia do wartości. Badania przeprowadzone wśród młodzieży Kujaw wschodnich ujawniają akceptację wartości katolickich przez znaczną grupę młodzieży, a także pozwalają dostrzec pewną część młodzieży, która oddala się od uznanych wartości. Wspólnota katolicka pragnąca zachować swoją tożsamość powinna stale troszczyć się o jak najpełniejszy przekaz wartości katolickich. W proces ten powinni być włączeni wierzący rodzice, wspólnota religijna oraz nauczyciele religii. Również i to inspiruje do realizowania duszpasterstwa katechetycznego.
Youth is the time to shape an attitude towards the values. This is due to the development of subjectivity in this period. Young people acquire the personal relationship with many values including the faith in God. This relationship is shaped by the influence of the family, the influence of the religious community manifesting itself through the parishes and the teaching of religious education. On the other hand, its attitude is shaped by the educative influence of many communities and institutions that provide an alternative view on the world and alternative reference to the values. The study conducted among young people of Eastern Kuyavia reveals the acceptance of Catholic values by a large group of young people but also allows to notice a certain part of the young people who abandon these recognized values. The Catholic community who wants to keep its identity should always be concerned about the fullest possible transfer of Catholic values. Believing parents, religious communities, and religious education teachers should be involved in this process. It also inspires carrying out catechetical pastoral care.

The article shows, in detail, the interrelation which occurs between the parish religious education and school teaching of religion in Poland. The author takes up a reflection 25 years after bringing religion back to schools. Starting from establishments of religious educationdocuments of the Catholic and Polish Church, he points at the complementarity of these two forms of the religious education service of the word. It is also related to the possibility of carrying three functions of religious education out - the teaching, the upbringing and acquainting both in the parish, and at the school. In conclusion, the author formulates conclusions which are a response to the complementarity challenge of the parish catechesis and religious education in Poland. In the special way he stresses out the substantial role of liturgy and its connections with the religious education.

According to official data, currently there are over two million Polish emigrants. Several hundred thousand of them live in Great Britain. Many studies and publications have been devoted to Polish emigration, but there have been none focussing on their religious life or Christian education and formation. To fill the gap, for the first time, empirical research has been carried out among Polish priests working with Polish emigrants in England and Wales. The survey concerned preparations for receiving the Sacraments organised by parishes of the Polish Catholic Mission established in that area. The survey tool in the form of a questionnaire was developed by academics from the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. The results obtained facilitated the determination of the organisational framework, topics, forms and methods of Catholic sacramental formation for Polish emigrants. This paper presents and analyses the results of the survey concerning the preparations of Polish children for their first Confession and Holy Communion, and the preparations of young people for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Furthermore, an attempt has been made at determining the major challenges faced by religious education and formation for Polish emigrants living in England and Wales, and the areas requiring further investigation have been identified.

Opis:
Requirements in the modern world are not popular – also on the basis of teaching. However, as Pope John Paul II often emphasized, one should demand from oneself even when others will not demand. These words should include catechists in their work. They are supposed to demand from students, remembering to be demanding towards themselves. Requirements cannot be detached from love. Only a kind teacher who is kind to the student carefully guides the development of the pupil. The issue of teaching requirements – including religious teaching – is important today because of the language of record of purposes. It focuses on knowledge and skills requirements. Catechists additionally in the latest program assumptions have indications regarding attitudes shaped in the catechetical process. Both in the parish and at school, the demanding catechist – from himself and from others – is a credible witness to the truths he proclaims.

Challenges to the teaching of religion are analysed from different perspectives and in different aspects. In the diagnosis of problems, one of the most important factors is the opinion of religion teachers who confront these challenges directly and on a daily basis. This article is an analysis of the results of a survey of religion teachers in this context. Challenges from the students, from the parents, from the institutional Church, from the school and challenges from the parish are discussed. Among the most serious challenges is the lack of faith of the pupils and the lack of need for faith development were identified. The research shows that the strongest correlate of attitudes towards Religious Education at school is religious indifference and waning religiosity.

This paper aims at bringing to light a presentation of the nature of religious education in Poland. This study will therefore present a brief historical outline of religious upbringing in Poland, its current organisational regulations and the principles of religious education in schools. In our summary, we will present the level of effectiveness of religious education in Poland, and we will also explore the discussion on the reformation of religious education in Poland which is being worked upon.

In the reflection carried out attempts to answer the question about the relationship between catechesis and media in Poland. It was agreed that the guarantee of orthodoxy and integrity of catechesis give only the Catholic media, acting under control of the competent authority of the Church. In the course of reflection have been presented indications of the Church concerning the mass media and criteria for their catholicity. It has been shown the importance of media for catechesis and presented the most important existing in Poland Catholic media and their coverage. Among the postulates dominated those concerning the creation of Catholic media and the preparation of professional staff who would take care about both content and form.

Te author presents current challenges in German religious pedagogy in light of important social and cultural events. Subsequently she describes projects from the field of religious education, taking into account school and R.E. lessons as main places where they are carried out. She also mentions an idea which is an alternative to the previous didactical solutions. Te author points to a parish community as a place with possibilities and meanings for catechesis as well as formulates conclusions allowing greater effectiveness in catechetic actions.
Autorka przedstawia aktualne wyzwania niemieckiej pedagogiki religijnej na tle istotnych wydarzeń społecznych i kulturowych. Następnie opisuje podejmowane projekty z zakresu edukacji religijnej, z uwzględnieniem miejsca ich realizacji jakim jest szkoła i lekcja religii, a także opracowanej koncepcji alternatywnej do dotychczasowych rozwiązań dydaktycznych. Prezentuje również wspólnotę parafialną jako środowisko katechezy, zwracając uwagę na jej szanse i możliwości oraz formułuje wnioski umożliwiające bardziej efektywne działania katechetyczne.

W obliczu cyfryzacji edukacji szkolnej w Polsce podjęto próbę ukazania podstawowych założeń programu „cyfrowa szkoła”, a także zasadności i możliwości włączenia się w ten proces na lekcjach religii. W tym celu poddano analizie istniejące aktualnie elektroniczne narzędzia do nauczania religii wpisujące się w ten program. Należą do nich zaawansowane technologicznie multibooki, jak również portale internetowe i elektroniczne poradniki metodyczne. Przeprowadzona analiza dowiodła, że odpowiedzialni za nauczanie religii w Polsce oraz wydawcy katoliccy posiadają duży potencjał merytoryczno-metodyczny i są w stanie wytworzyć pomoce dydaktyczne na miarę dzisiejszych czasów. Jednocześnie przedstawiono szereg trudności techniczno-finansowych, które mogą utrudnić i spowolnić proces cyfryzacji edukacji religijnej. Podjęto także próbę ukazania walorów i zagrożeń, jakie niesie ze sobą edukacja cyfrowa.
Abstract. In the age of digitization of school education in Poland, we have tried to show the essential principles of the project “digital school” as well as the merits and the possibility of including religious instruction in this process. For this purpose, currently existing electronic tools for teaching religion have been analyzed. Among them are technologically advanced multibooks and also portals and even electronic methodology guides for teachers. The analysis has shown that Catholic publishers in Poland have great potential in creating this kind of educational tools. They are already able to produce modern teaching aids. In the article there were also presented a lot of technical and financial difficulties that may hinder and slow down the process of digitization of religious education. They were also shown advantages and risks posed by the digital education.

The article is aimed at showing the meaning of moral education in the processes of religious education. The authors pay attention to the meaning of moral values influencing man’s behaviour, attitudes to Self, other people, world, and God. Experience obtained in the relationship with Self, others and God has a significant role in the trajectory of educational processes, particularly the process of moral upbringing of a person. Attention paid to natural cognition and cognition rooted in God can help underlining the sense of religious education, also religious education of a child. Moral imagination producing moral images becomes the subject for analysis in terms of teacher’s responsibility concerning the selection of literature items, or ways of their analysis. Moral upbringing tightly connected with religious education elicits the meaning of work upon own character and catechesis as a tool enhancing its quality. The research question of this article can be posed: How does moral upbringing participate in the processes of religious education?

The progress and achievements of modern science introduce a number of new solutions in various areas of life and human activities. Also the area of education and upbringing marked by all sorts of reforms and search for new system solutions to support the effectiveness of teaching and educational work. One of the many areas of science, which sought inspiration for new developments in educational work and in setting directions of necessary changes in systems neuroscience and education is benefiting from this field of knowledge neurodidactics. Looking at the whole educational system and integral development of the student can not ignore the religious education and upbringing. We can therefore raise the question of the possibility of using assumptions and insights developed within neurodidactics in contemporary religious education. In this study, we will attempt to show you the essential elements developed on the basis of neurodidactics, possible for use in educational work, especially in different areas of widely understood religious education.

The article covers the scientific reflection upon the catechist participation in realizing the educational and pedagogical tasks by school. The reflection has been based on the instructions included in obligatory school documents. It was noted that in searching for the specification of tasks that catechists face up one should pay attention to the children’s lacks and needs that impede their integral development. In their context, both the content of religious nature transferred by catechists and the motifs of activities that serve the development and growth of a person supported by them seem to be meaningful. Further, one can discuss the characteristic shape of school catechesis supporting integral development of a person which is also called formation. In these processes the functions of catechesis perform an important role. They comprise the function of introducing into mystery, teaching and upbringing. It has been shown that these functions are the value added to the educational processes, first of all, because of the fact that they open person for Transcendence. These advantages of catechesis allow indicating the particular meaning for development of a person present at school catechesis. Thanks to these advantages catechist is able to support pupil in discovering new dimensions of sense of life.
W artykule podjęto naukową refleksję nad udziałem katechety w wypełnianiu przez szkołę edukacyjno-wychowawczych zadań. Refleksję tę oparto na wytycznych zawartych w obowiązujących dokumentach szkolnych. Zauważono, że w poszukiwaniach specyfiki zadań stojących przed katechetą warto zwrócić uwagę na występujące u uczniów deficyty i potrzeby utrudniające ich integralny rozwój. W ich kontekście znaczące wydają się być przekazywane przez katechetę treści natury religijnej oraz wspomagane nimi motywy podejmowania służących rozwojowi i dojrzewaniu osoby działań. Idąc tym tokiem rozumowania można mówić o charakterystycznym rysie katechezy szkolnej, wspierającym integralny rozwój osoby, nazywany też formacją. W procesach tych ważną do spełnienia rolę nadaje się funkcjom katechezy: wtajemniczenia, nauczania i wychowania. Wykazano, że funkcje te stanowią wartość dodaną do procesów edukacyjnych przede wszystkim przez to, że otwierają osobę na Transcendencję. Te walory katechezy pozwalają też wskazać na szczególne znaczenie dla rozwoju osoby obecnego w szkole katechety. Dzięki tym walorom katecheta jest też w stanie wspomagać ucznia w odkrywania nowych wymiarów sensu życia.

The efficiency of religious education depends on a variety of factors, including, to a large degree, the identity and competence of religion teachers and catechists. For this reason it is necessary to work out new, ever more efficient ways to form the staff of teachers. This is to be aided also by empirical studies that are conducted in this field. The article presents the results of studies of a two hundred-person group of religion teachers working in the Radom diocese. The results confirm high moral-religious as well as didactic-methodic qualifications of the subjects, who are devoted Catholics and treat teaching religion as the realization of their own Christian vocation. They understand in the proper way the conception of teaching religion that is binding in Poland and they realize the postulates of methodic pluralism.

This article discusses the current situation of the Church resulting from the epidemic threat of the coronavirus. It indicates how we can teach religious education online, using particular platforms and educational websites, as well as instant messengers and other internet services, to make them tools of catechesis and evangelization. The author emphasizes the spiritual contact of the faithful who, through the media, can participate in Holy Masses and receive the Spiritual Communion. She underlines the role of the proper use of mass media in the work of catechesis and evangelization. The author encourages people responsible for catechesis to be creative in the remote proclamation of the redemptive message, and to use all the available didactic resources and methods.

The article is an attempt to show the most important initiatives in the Religious Education of the youth undertaken by the Church from ancient times until the end of theXIX century. This reflection gives only a general outline of the topic and points to the most important milestones in Religious Education. The close relationship of Religious Educationof young people to the whole process of the development of catechesis in the Church is explored. The formation of Religious Education is a part of the catechetical Church’s pastoralministry. The author analyzes the education of young people in the following historical epochs, highlighting key events: Christian antiquity, civitas Christiana in the Middle Ages,Renaissance with its humanistic trends, instructions of the Council of Trent, after Trident pastoral initiatives, Enlightenment with religion taught as school-lessons, and finally theattempt to renew youth catechesis in the XIX century. The summary concludes that the attempts at renewal of catechesis in the XIX century opened up a wide-ranging discussionregarding difficult and complicated facets which apply to the youth’s catechesis today.
Artykuł jest próbą ukazania najważniejszych inicjatyw formacji religijnej młodzieży w Kościele począwszy od starożytności aż po koniec XIX wieku. Wszystko zostaje ukazane w ścisłej relacji edukacji religijnej młodych z całym procesem rozwoju katechizacji w Kościele. Autor analizuje wychowanie młodych w następujących epokach i związanych z nimi wydarzeniami: starożytność chrześcijańska, civitas Christiana w średniowieczu, odrodzenie z prądami humanizmu, zalecenia Soboru Trydenckiego, potrydenckie inicjatywy duszpasterskie, oświecenie ze szkolną lekcją religii i próby odnowy katechezy młodzieżowej w XIX wieku. Na koniec stwierdza się, że przedstawione próby odnowykatechezy młodzieży w XIX wieku wprowadzają w szeroką dyskusję nad sytuacją katechezy młodzieżowej dzisiaj.

In the article, the author discusses different concepts of media education. Reductionistic approaches which restrain media education are depicted as well as more complementary approaches. Various spins of media competences and attitudes towards media being understood as a goal of media education are also dealt with in the text. Further, the author analyses selected religious education textbooks from middle school. The aim of the analysis is looking for correlation with media education and references to the very media. Textbooks, teachers’ guides, workbooks and worksheets were analysed within six different courses. The conclusions of the analysis can be found at the end of the article.
W artykule następuje omówienie różnych koncepcji edukacji medialnej. Ukazane zostały podejścia redukcjonistyczne, ograniczające edukację medialną, jak i podejścia bardziej komplementarne. Omówiono także różne ujęcia kompetencji medialnych oraz postaw wobec mediów rozumianych jako cel edukacji medialnej. W dalszej części artykułu analizie podlegają wybrane podręczniki do nauki religii w szkole gimnazjalnej. Celem analizy jest znalezienie korelacji z edukacją medialną oraz odniesień do samych mediów. W każdej z sześciu badanych serii analizowano podręczniki ucznia, poradniki metodyczne, zeszyty ćwiczeń i karty pracy. W zakończeniu zamieszczono wnioski płynące z przeprowadzonej pracy.

In recent years, there has been a significant change in the religiosity of Poles, especially among the youth. Religious education for the youth, however, has remained basically unchanged. Therefore, there is an urgent need to determine the causes of this change in religiosity and respond properly to it. This article first presents the results of sociological research on the religiosity of Polish youth conducted in the last few years, particularly 2013-2016. These results prove that Polish young people believe increasingly less in God, participate increasingly less frequently in the liturgy, and increasingly contest the moral teachings of the Church. The article then proceeds to explain the reasons for these changes, among which is what is broadly understood as a contemporary culture in which rationalism, pluralism, and tolerance dominate. The final part of the article presents ideas to enrich religious education with elements that will address the challenges of the present and make it possible to reach Polish youth.
W ostatnich latach zauważalna jest duża dynamika przemian religijności Polaków, zwłaszcza młodego pokolenia. Edukacja religijna przeznaczona dla tej grupy zasadniczo pozostaje jednak bez zmian. Istnieje zatem pilna konieczność określenia przyczyn współczesnych przemian i udzielenia na nie odpowiedzi. W tym artykule przedstawiono najpierw wyniki badań socjologicznych dotyczących religijności polskiej młodzieży z ostatnich kilku lat, a zwłaszcza z lat 2013-2016. Dowodzą one tego, że polska młodzież coraz mniej wierzy w Boga, coraz rzadziej bierze udział w liturgii i kontestuje moralne nauczanie Kościoła. Następnie podjęto próbę wskazania przyczyn tych przemian. Wśród nich na pierwszym miejscu wymieniono szeroko rozumianą dzisiejszą kulturę, w której dominują racjonalizm, pluralizm i tolerancja. W ostatniej części artykułu przedstawiono propozycje wzbogacenia edukacji o takie elementy, które podejmują wyzwania współczesności i dają szansę na dotarcie do młodych ludzi.

Catechesis and religious education are two ways in which the ministry for the education for the faith is exercised, but within different physical contexts and with interlocutors coming from different backgrounds. Moreover, both catechesis and religious education share the same contents, which have been passed on to the interlocutors. This paper seeks to shed some light on the relationship between catechesis and religious education, in terms of their being distinct but at the same time complementary to each other. In this pursuit, we put forward arguments from both directions, those in favour of considering Catholic Religious Education and catechesis as identical and those viewing the two as distinct. The aim is to highlight the specific mission and role of each in education for the faith of the contemporary human being.

Due to dynamic cultural changes and related religious transformation there are many attempts to create adequate system of Christian formation in Poland. Such formation should include both the teaching of religion in schools and catechesis realized in the parish. Teaching religion in schools is an irreplaceable form of catechesis, but should be complemented by a parish catechesis. Religious education should focus on the dialogue between faith and culture and above all strengthen the cognitive dimension of catechesis. The parish catechesis should place particular emphasis on Christian initiation and preparation for the sacraments. Only the complementary model of Christian formation involving religious education in school and catechesis in the parish gives hope for the effectiveness of formation.

Współczesne dokumenty Kościoła, nawiązując do tradycji wcześniejszych, chętnie podejmują temat wychowania, zarówno mając na uwadze wychowanie ogólne człowieka, jak i wychowanie religijne. Zagadnienie to jest również częstym tematem wypowiedzi papieży, jak i refleksji katechetycznej. Opracowanie prezentuje panoramę posoborowego nauczania Kościoła zarówno dotyczącą określenia i istoty wychowania, relacji między wychowawcą a wychowankiem, jak i określającą cele wychowawcze i sposoby ich osiągnięcia. Zebrane wypowiedzi składają się na całościową wizję wychowawczą charakteryzującą się szacunkiem dla procesu wychowania, ale i wychowanków, a także odnoszącą ich zarówno do doczesnego, jak i wiecznego celu wychowania.
The contemporary documents of the Church, referring to earlier traditions, willingly take up the subject of nurturing. The subject discusses both general and religious education. This issue is also a frequent topic of the Pope’s statements as well as catechetical reflections. The study presents a plethora of the post-Conciliar Church teaching about the definition and the essence of education, the relationship between the educator and education defining educational goals and the ways to achieve them. The statements build a comprehensive educational vision characterized by the respect for the process of upbringing and foster children. It also refers to the purpose of education, both temporal and eternal.

Chrześcijanie żyją w świecie coraz bardziej otwartym. Zarazem powszechna dostępność mediów, turystyka oraz nowe ruchy migracyjne sprzyjają kontaktom z wyznawcami innych religii. Dziś w wychowaniu katolickim coraz bardziej potrzeba wychowania do rozumienia i dialogu z innymi religiami. Najważniejszym zadaniem pedagogiki religijnej jest nauczanie katechezy w duchu deklaracji Nostra aetate. Takie wychowanie powinno kształtować w młodym człowieku postawę otwartości i szacunku względem przedstawicieli innych religii, a także osób niewierzących. Wychowanie do dialogu wymaga też zachowania własnej autentyczności religijnej, a nie rezygnowania z niej. Dialog to dążenie do uznania innych w ich inności. Kształtowanie autentycznych postaw wobec przedstawicieli innych religii wśród młodzieży katolickiej wymaga od katolickich nauczycieli poznania innych religii i pewnego wysiłku intelektualnego służącego obiektywnemu przedstawieniu innych religii. Wraz z tym powinien dokonywać się wysiłek dydaktyczny wspomagający akceptację własnej religijności.
Christians live in an increasingly open world. The widespread availability of media, tourism, and new migration movements taken together favour Christians’ contacts with followers of other religions. The need for education to understand and communicate with other religions is more necessary now than ever before in Catholic education. The most important task of religious pedagogy is to teach catechesis/religious education in the spirit of the declaration Nostra aetate. Such education should shape a young person’s attitude of openness and respect towards representatives of other religions, as well as towards non-believers. Educating to communicate with others also requires the preservation of religious authenticity, not renouncing it. The dialogue/the communication is the desire to recognize others in their own way. Forming authentic attitude towards other religions representatives among young Catholics requires from Catholic teachers to know other religions and it requires some intellectual effort which serves to present other religions in an objective way. The didactic effort to support the acceptance of one’s own religiosity should also be made along with it.

W artykule podjęto próbę analizy wybranych podręczników do nauczania religii dla ucznia i przewodników metodycznych dla katechety wydanych po 2001 roku, pod kątem dokonanego w nich procesu interpretacji tekstów biblijnych z Księgi Rodzaju 4-11. Omawiane perykopy opisują proces rozpowszechniania się zła, czego przejawem są kolejne akty przemocy, jakich dopuszcza się człowiek, oraz ukazują Boga, który przychodzi z pomocą. Materiały katechetyczne zostały przestudiowane pod kątem trzech reguł hermeneutycznych: zasady historyczno-literackiej, teologicznej, egzystencjalnej.
Violence in the Bible (Gen 4-11) encountered in selected religious education textbooks The article attempts an analysis of selected religious education student textbooks and of methodology guides for teachers published after 2001 based on their interpretation of the biblical verses from Genesis 4-11. The pericopes under consideration describe the process of the spread of evil, which is manifested in subsequent acts of violence perpetrated by men, as well as reveal God who comes to rescue. The analysis of religious education materials is conducted from the perspective of the following three hermeneutic principles: historical/literary, theological, and existential.
