Opis:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of physical and personal risk factors on sick leave due to musculoskeletal disorders in an Iranian car company. In this cross-sectional study, 234 workers participated and all of them had sick leave due to musculoskeletal disorders in the past year. A physical risk factor checklist and personal information questionnaire were used as data-gathering tools. There was no significant relationship between physical risk factors and sick leave (p > .05). Cigarette smoking (p = .045), body mass index >30 (p = .046) and age (p = .044) showed a significant relationship with sick leave. Workers with lumbar deviation of 20°–60° (OR 1.10) and >60° (OR 1.11) were at greater risk. The ratios for workers with repetitive work (OR 1.30) and workers with force exertion (OR 1.36) were greater than for other workers. Taking preventive actions to improve the ergonomic working conditions of assembly workers and their lifestyle seems crucial.

Opis:
Electric cars represent a promising energy-and carbon-efficient alternative to internal combustion engine cars. However, as mobility behaviour is highly habitual, convincing people to switch from conventional cars to electric is challenging. In the following research, which was carried out in the past years in Slovenia, an attempt was made to determine what influences people’s buying habits and what would motivate them to buy an electric car. It appeared that the most relevant factor for not purchasing electric cars is, firstly, its overall too high price, and, secondly, short driving ranges. Different studies, as well as the results of the following research have revealed that there is no single measure which would dramatically increase the demand for electric cars. The solution is to combine different measures or strategies like Top - Down and Bottom - Up, where both the government and car industry should come across.

Opis:
Due to the poor evaluation of the design of Japanese cars in the European market, this study proposes an evaluation to improve the rating of Japanese cars by Europeans. First, the concept of passenger car design evaluation is defined. Based on this definition, the appearance of a front image of a passenger car is decomposed into primitive components, and each component is analyzed in terms of shape, size, and position information. The shape information can be evaluated by two quantitative methods: Fourier series expression and aspect ratio calculation. To validate the evaluation method, five Volkswagen, four Peugeot, and three Toyota cars are sampled. The analysis indicates obvious differences in the headlights and radiator grille. Furthermore, a design modification method is proposed. Because design differences between European and Japanese cars are quantitatively evaluated, identifying necessary modifications should be easy. As a trial, one Toyota car design is modified by changing the features of the radiator grille and headlights to more closely resemble the characteristic shape of European cars. Then to validate the design modification, a design image investigation is conducted with the cooperation of 39 German citizens. This investigation demonstrates the design evaluation is effectively improved by altering the design of the headlights and radiator grille.
