    Opis:
    International Society of Biomechanics has proposed a general reporting standard for joint kinematics based on anatomical reference frames. Nevertheless, the gait analysis protocols based on this standard are still poorly reported. The purpose of the current study is to propose and preliminarily assess the potential of an anatomically based ISB 6-DOF protocol, which combines the ISB reporting standard together with a marker cluster technique. The proposed technical marker set enables full description of the lower limb kinematics (including three-dimensional ankle-foot complex rotations) according to the current biomechanical recommendation. The marker set provides a clinically acceptable inter-trial repeatability and minimal equipment requirements.

    Purpose: Recently, magic has been given increasing attention by psychologists for what it can reveal about how the human cognitive system works. This paper examines whether these same cognitive processes are at play in another arena, specifi cally, the presentation of financial accounting� information. Approach: The authors reviewed the fi ndings of cognitive scientists from their studies of magicians and applied these to the activities of professional accountants. Findings: Specifi c cognitive processes which magicians and accountants take advantage of, explicitly for one and implicitly for the other, are the same: good continuation, habituation, and attentional capture. Value: Further research regarding such interactions between accounting and cognition has potential for enhancing our understanding of both. Certainly at this particular point in accounting history, as standard setters seem to be moving ever closer to implementing some version of a principles-based accounting regime versus our current rules-based accounting regime, it is worthwhile to contemplate the conscious and subconscious effects of cognitive processes on how individuals perceive financial information.

    This paper presents supercritical coal-fired power stations integrated withCO2 capture and compression systems based on oxy-combustion. The efficiency and key performance indicators of analysed units with different oxygen generation methods have been compared. The following methods are presented: cryogenic, cryogenic-membrane based on polymer membranes, and membrane methods with three-end and four-end HTM membranes. Loss of efficiency in reference to a plant operating in classic arrangement (without CO2 capture) is given for all analysed systems. The main thermodynamic parameters of the considered power units were presented. The paper is a summary of results of the strategic programme ”Development of oxygen combustion technology for pulverised- and fluidised-bed boilers with integrated CO2 capture” carried out by the authors.
    W artykule przedstawiono nadkrytyczne elektrownie węglowe zintegrowane z instalacjami wychwytu i sprężania CO2 w technologii oxy-spalania. Porównano efektywność oraz główne parametry pracy analizowanych bloków dla różnych metod produkcji tlenu. Przedstawiono metody: kriogeniczną, kriogeniczno-membranową wykorzystującą membrany polimerowe i metody membranowe wykorzystujące membrany ceramiczne HTM typu three-end oraz four-end. Pokazano utratę sprawności wszystkich analizowanych układów względem elektrowni pracującej w trybie klasycznym (bez instalacji wychwytu CO2). Przedstawiono główne parametry termodynamiczne rozpatrywanych bloków. Praca jest syntezą rezultatów w realizowanym przez autorów projekcie strategicznym „Opracowanie technologii spalania tlenowego dla kotłów pyłowych i fluidalnych zintegrowanych z wychwytem CO2”.

    This paper is a general demonstration of the newest, non-optical method, used in 3D motion analysis. It contains a few main measuring techniques, like electromagnetic tracking system, accelerometer system, ultrasound method and the other, which are the alternatives for video-based optical method of human motion analysis. There is also a notice about using the Magnetic Resonance Imaging for kinematic analysis in the future.

    Research on the human spine, its function and disease or pathology, are conducted by numerous experts from various fields, including medicine, biomechanics and rehabilitation engineering. This paper presents the state-of-the-art of knowledge about dynamic methods using artificial neural networks for low back pain (LBP) classification and analysis. The article also describes research on the development of a precise model of human skeleton for spine motion analysis using Vicon system.

    Neptunium-237 samples were irradiated in a spallation neutron fi eld produced in accelerator-driven system (ADS) setup QUINTA. Five experiments were carried out on the accelerators at the JINR in Dubna – one in carbon (C6+), three in deuteron, and one in a proton beam. The energy in carbon was 24 GeV, in deuteron 2, 4 and 8 GeV, respectively, and 660 MeV in the proton beam. The incineration study method was based on gamma-ray spectrometry. During the analysis of the spectra several fi ssion products and one actinide were identifi ed. Fission product activities yielded the number of fi ssions. The actinide (Np-238), a result of neutron capture by Np-237, yielded the number of captures. The main goal of this work was to fi nd out if and how the incineration rate depended on parameters of the accelerator beam.

    W ramach pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań pozwalających na ocenę wpływu nieprawidłowego rozmieszczenia znaczników ruchu na wyniki pomiarów wielkości kinematycznych w systemie APAS. Analizę ruchu przeprowadzono umieszczając na ciele badanej osoby 15 markerów zgodnie z modelem Vaughan’a oraz dwa dodatkowe markery w pobliżu stawu kolanowego oraz stawu skokowego przesunięte do przodu o 3 cm w płaszczyźnie strzałkowej w stosunku do prawidłowo naklejonych markerów. Otrzymane wyniki pomiarów zarejestrowane dla chodu z prawidłowo i nieprawidłowo rozmieszczonymi markerami porównano ze sobą.
    Results of research enabling assessment of influence of incorrect marker location on results of kinematic quantities measurements, carried out by APAS system, are presented in the paper. Motion analysis was conducted with the use of 15 markers placed on the body in accordance with Vaughan model. Additionally two another markers were situated 3 cm forward in saggital plane (with respect to correctly situated markers) on the knee and ankle joints. For all obtained results the comparative analysis was carried out.

    W marcu 2007 roku przywódcy państw członkowskich Unii Europejskiej zadecydowali o przyjęciu nowych celów w zakresie obniżenia emisji dwutlenku węgla, zwiększenia wykorzystania odnawialnych zasobów energii oraz poprawy efektywności wykorzystania energii do roku 2020, jak również w późniejszym okresie, do roku 2050. Decyzję tę podjęto w kontekście narastających problemów zmian klimatycznych oraz zwiększającego się zapotrzebowania na energię. W konsekwencji tych postanowień, w styczniu 2008 roku Komisja Europejska opublikowała Pakiet Klimatyczno-Energetyczny, który zawierał propozycje dyrektyw wdrażających przyjęte postanowienia polityczne do wspólnotowego porządku prawnego, w tym regulacje dotyczące zmian w systemie handlu pozwoleniami na emisje gazów cieplarnianych, nową ramową dyrektywę dotyczącą promocji energii z zasobów odnawialnych oraz propozycję dyrektywy umożliwiającej geologiczne składowanie dwutlenku węgla. 17 grudnia 2008 roku Pakiet został przyjęty przez Parlament Europejski, po wcześniejszych uzgodnieniach Rady Unii Europejskiej. Ponadto, w listopadzie 2008 roku Komisja Europejska zaprezentowała Pakiet dokumentów dotyczących efektywności energetycznej, będących uzupełnieniem celów przyjętych w marcu 2007 roku. Regulacje zawarte w tych Pakietach konkretyzują ambicje Wspólnoty w zakresie przeciwdziałania zmianom klimatu na następną dekadę i wskazują kierunek działania w następnych dziesięcioleciach. W artykule przedstawiono zakres regulacji przyjętych w Pakiecie Klimatyczno-Energetycznym.
    In March 2007 leaders of the Member States made decisions concerning new targets in the field of carbon dioxide reduction, increase of use renewable energy and improvement of energy efficiency till 2020. Those decisions were made in the context of climate change processes and growing energy demand. Consequently, in January 2008, European Commission announced the Climate and Energy Package, including proposals on new EU regulations. In December 2008, the EU negotiations on legislation concerning the climate change and energy package were completed in the Council and European Parliament. The Package is to be officially published in Spring 2009. Finally, the Package includes: a Directive on revision of the greenhouse gas emission allowance trading system, the Communication on effort-sharing targets for emissions reductions, a Directive on the geological storage of carbon dioxide, a Directive on promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources, new legislation in order to set emissions standards for new passenger cars and revision of the fuel quality Directive. At present negotiations in the EU Comitology procedures, detailed issues of the new legislation are discussed. In this article, new EU legislation included in the Package is presented.

    Artykuł prezentuje wyniki porównania dwóch systemów służących do analizy ruchu człowieka- optycznego DTrack2 oraz akcelerometrycznego Xsens. Badania przeprowadzono w Wirtualnej Jaskini (zwanej systemem Cave) znajdującej się w Centrum Nowych Technologii w Gliwicach. Porównania dokonano na podstawie wielkości czasowo - przestrzennych wyznaczonych podczas badań doświadczalnych i obliczonych w programie Matlab. Porównanie danych przedstawiono na podstawie obliczonego błędu średniokwadratowego oraz współczynnika korelacji Pearsona.
    The paper presents the results of a comparison of two human motion analysis systems - optical DTrack2 and accelerometric Xsens. The study was conducted in Technopark Virtual Cave (called Cave system) in Gliwice. The comparison was made on the time-space basis, which were designated during the experiment and calculated in Matlab. Comparison of the data was presented on the basis of the calculated mean square error and the Pearson correlation coefficient.

    System śledzenia ruchu ręki oraz palców jest powszechnie stosowany w immersyjnych aplikacjach rzeczywistości wirtualnej umożliwiając użytkownikowi symulacji interaktywne uczestnictwo poprzez manipulację wirtualnymi przedmiotami. W artykule zaprezentowano ww. system w postaci rękawicy wyposażonej w czujniki typu MEMS w celu rejestracji orientacji oraz marker wizyjnego systemu ruchu (przemieszczeń) w przestrzeni trójwymiarowej. Rękawica rzeczywistości wirtualnej została zintegrowana z oprogramowaniem Unity 3D do pracy w czasie rzeczywistym oraz przetestowana.
    Hand and finger motion capture system is commonly used in immersive virtual reality applications allowing the user of simulation to interactively participate by manipulating virtual objects. The article presents the above mentioned system construction as glove equipped with 9 DoF MEMS sensors for orientations and a marker of visual motion capture for displacement in3D space.

    The paper is devoted to explication of one of the advantages of heat and electricity cogeneration, rarely considered in technical literature. Usually attention is paid to the fact that heat losses of the heat distribution network are less severe in the case of cogeneration of heat in comparison with its separate production. But this conclusion is also true in other cases when the internal consumption of heat is significant. In this paper it has been proved in the case of two examples concerning trigeneration technology with an absorption chiller cooperating with a combined heat and power (CHP) plant and CHP plant integrated with amine post-combustion CO2 processing unit. In both considered cases it might be said that thanks to cogeneration we have to do with less severe consequences of significant demand of heat for internal purposes.

    The Rankine cycle steam turbine power plants make a base for world electricity production. The efficiency of modern steam turbine units is not higher than 43–45%, which is remarkably lower compared to the combined cycle power plants. However, an increase in steam turbine power plant efficiency could be achieved by the rise of initial cycle parameters up to ultra-supercritical values: 700–780◦C, 30–35 MPa. A prospective steam superheating technology is the oxy-fuel combustion heating in a sidemounted combustor located in the steam pipelines. This paper reviews thermal schemes of steam turbine power plants with one or two side-mounted steam superheaters. An influence of the initial steam parameters on the facility thermal efficiency was identified and primary and secondary superheater parameters were optimized. It was found that the working fluid superheating in the side-mounted oxy-methane combustors leads to an increase of thermal efficiency higher than that with the traditional boiler superheating in the initial temperature ranges of 700–780◦C and 660–780◦C by 0.6% and 1.4%, respectively.

    The electricity production by combustion of organic fuels, especially coal, increases the atmospheric CO2 content, which contributes to global warming. The greenhouse gas emissions by the power production industry may be reduced by the application of CO2 capture and storage systems, but it remarkably decreases the thermal power plant (TPP) efficiency because of the considerable increase of the auxiliary electricity requirements. This paper describes the thermodynamic analysis of a combined cycle TPP with coal gasification and preliminary carbon dioxide capture from the syngas. Utilization of the heat produced in the fuel preparation increases the TPP net efficiency from 42.3% to 47.2%. Moreover, the analysis included the combined cycle power plant with coal gasification and the CO2 capture from the heat recovery steam generator exhaust gas, and the oxy-fuel combustion power cycle with coal gasification. The coal-fired combined cycle power plant efficiency with the preliminary CO2 capture from syngas is 0.6% higher than that of the CO2 capture after combustion and 9.9% higher than that with the oxy-fuel combustion and further CO2 capture. The specific CO2 emissions are equal to 103 g/kWh for the case of CO2 capture from syngas, 90 g/kWh for the case of CO2 capture from the exhaust gas and 9 g/kWh for the case of oxy-fuel combustion.

    Human papillomavirus (HPV) belongs to the family of DNA viruses. Infection by HPV is associated with the development of benign or malignant lesions within mucosal membrane and skin of the genitals, anus, head and neck. Presence of the virus, particularly of the highly oncogenic variants in epithelial cells of uterine cervix directly influences the development of cervical cancer. In a considerable proportion of cases, HPV infections are asymptomatic and this is probably associated with lack of proliferation phase of viral life cycle, or may be transient, which greatly complicates early detection of the virus. Diagnostic techniques enabling diagnosis of HPV infection include: cytological exam (PAP smear), colposcopy, histological study, as well as increasingly sophisticated molecular techniques, enabling detection of viral DNA when other indices of infection are lacking. These techniques include Southern Blot, Dot Blot, in situ hybridization, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Hybrid Capture System I and II (HCI, HCII). Increasingly often authors refer to tests based on isolation of viral mRNA (PreTect HPV-Proofer test). These techniques detect integrated form of HPV, the so-called episomal form of the virus. In general opinion, the presence of HPV in this form is directly associated with progression of lesions developing as a result of this infection. While the PreTect HPV-Proofer test detects a smaller number of cases of HPV infection, its use enables selection of patients most at risk of developing cervical cancer.
    Wirus brodawczaka ludzkiego (HPV) należy do grupy DNA wirusów. Infekcje wirusem brodawczaka ludzkiego wiążą się z występowaniem łagodnych lub złośliwych zmian w obrębie błon śluzowych i skóry narządów płciowych, odbytu, jak również głowy i szyi. Obecność wirusa, szczególnie typów wysokoonkogennych, w komórkach nabłonka szyjki macicy bezpośrednio wpływa na rozwój raka szyjki macicy. Zakażenia HPV w dużym odsetku przebiegają bezobjawowo i jest to najprawdopodobniej związane z niewystąpieniem fazy proliferacyjnej cyklu życiowego wirusa, a także mają charakter przejściowy, co znacznie utrudnia wczesną identyfikację wirusa. Wśród metod diagnostycznych umożliwiających rozpoznanie zakażenia wymienia się badanie cytologiczne, kolposkopię, badanie histologiczne, a także coraz doskonalsze metody molekularne, które pozwalają wykryć wirusowe DNA w przypadkach braku innych wykładników zakażenia. Do metod tych zalicza się: Southern Blot, Dot Blot, hybrydyzacje in situ, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Hybrid Capture System I i II (HCI, HCII). Coraz częściej wspomina się o testach opartych na izolacji mRNA wirusa HPV (PreTect HPV-Proofer test). Metody te wykrywają zintegrowaną formę HPV, tzw. formę episomalną wirusa. Uważa się, że obecność wirusa HPV w tej postaci jest bezpośrednio związana z progresją zmian powstałych na podłożu tego zakażenia. Co prawda przy pomocy testu PreTect HPV-Proofer wykrywa się mniejszą liczbę zakażeń HPV, ale stosując go, można wyodrębnić grupę pacjentek najbardziej narażonych na raka szyjki macicy.

    W pracy podano nowe pojęcia, dotychczas nie stosowane w biomechanice chodu człowieka, zwane przez autorów pracy zasobami ruchu. Zasoby ruchu kończyn dolnych człowieka pozwalają - nie tylko na podstawie pomiarów kinematycznych dokonanych w czasie rzeczywistym - monitorować, kontrolować i oceniać w sposób dynamiczny(!) stan i zmianę zasobu ruchu kończyn dolnych człowieka w warunkach klinicznych jak i polowych (na stadionach po różnorodnej powierzchni np. błocie, śniegu, trawie, schodach itp.). W pracy zaproponowano innowacyjną aparaturę nowej generacji, do badania chodu człowieka zwaną zasobometrem. Pracuje on w trybie on-line i pozwala oceniać chód człowieka - równocześnie dla obu kończyn dolnych. Cena rynkowa zasobometru jest kilkanaście razy mniejsza aniżeli systemów rejestracji ruchu jak np. włoski system optoelektroniczny ELITE-3D - produkowany przez włoską firmę BTS z Mediolanu.
    On this paper a new notion, which has never been applied in investigation of human gait, is described. This is MOTION RESOURCES COEFFICENT named in polish language ZASOBY RUCHU. A new Motion Resources Apparatus (the MRA) for research, investigation and assessing human gait - in natural condition - has been presented. The MRA is an apparatus of a new generation which allows to reduce significantly cost of investigation multistep of human gait - in natural condition.
