    Opis:
    Business Process Modeling Notation has become a powerful and widely accepted visual language for modeling business processes. Despite its expressive power and high usability, a weak point of BPMN is the lack of formal semantics and difficulties with assuring correctness of the overall process. In this paper an attempt is made towards investigation and development of foundations for a logical, declarative model for BPMN. Such model should enable formal analysis of desired properties referring to correct operation of Business Processes modeled with use of BPMN.

    Opis:
    The economic activity indicators in Poland during the years 1995-2011 exhibit various cyclical patterns. Employing the Christiano – Fitzgerald band-pass filter and unobserved components model it is shown that the cyclical processes of Polish economic activity are driven by overlapping higher frequency fluctuations (3-4 years) and longer cycles of 8.5 years. The cyclical fluctuations of construction, transportation and trade are dissimilar to gross value added. Economic activity in transportation leads and in construction lags the fluctuations of gross value added. Cyclical fluctuations of gross value added seem to be determined by industry and construction. Manufacturing, especially capital and intermediate goods fluctuations are responsible for the variation of industry. The production of non-durable consumer goods, energy and production of electric power are relatively the most desynchronized compared to industry. Production of electric power leads industrial production. Capital goods, intermediate goods and energy cycle phases are asymmetric – the slowdown lasts shorter and has higher amplitude compared to expansion.     Airport business models have evolved at rapid pace and shall be adjusted in accordance with the traffic struc-ture and demand. As highlighted in this article the airport business models differ from country to country with the fundamental goal of serving the demand generated by the air traffic. The volume of passenger traffic, traffic structure, aircraft usage, environmental impact and service level development has a correlated influence on the airport business models. The traffic trend analysis directly supports that the future number of passenger aircraft movements will be reduced due to usage of aircraft with higher capacities, thereby providing direct evidence of future change in the operational management at the airports, hence altering their business models.
    Modele biznesowe lotnisk ewoluowały w szybkim tempie i powinny być dopasowane do istniejącej struktury ruchu oraz popytu. Jak podkreślono w tym artykule, modele biznesowe lotnisko różnią się w zależności od kraju, poza podstawowym celem, jakim jest obsłużenie wygenerowanego przez ruch lotniczy popytu. Wielkość ruchu pasażerskiego, jego struktura, a także wyko-rzystanie samolotów, ich wpływ na środowisko oraz rozwój usług w regionie to czynniki, które mają skorelowany wpływ na model biznesowy lotniska. Analiza trendu ruchu lotniczego w bezpośredni sposób popiera fakt, iż przyszła liczba pasażerskich operacji lotniczych zostanie zmniejszona z powodu wykorzystania samolotów o większej pojemności, co zapewnia bezpośredni dowód na przyszłe zmiany w operacjach na lotniskach, i przełożenie na model biznesowy.

    Analysing the banking business model as a supervisory perspective is a new way of monitoring the actions of supervised institutions, which significantly increases control. An additional analysis of banking business models can supply useful tools for understanding the nature of risks related to a given banking business model, and its influence on systemic risk. These tools are useful to market participants and regulation and supervisory institutions. The main goal of this article is an identification of contexts and conditions of the banking business model as a supervisory perspective. This approach allows to perceive its characteristics, aims, and methodology requirements. The supervisory perspective on business models was also compared to other practical and theoretical approaches, creating analytical context. An analysis of European guidelines for business models as a supplementary supervision practice, and their implementation in Poland was performed as well

    W artykule przedstawiono i przeanalizowano konfiguracje modeli biznesu powiązanych z efektywnością funkcjonowania organizacji. Badania przeprowadzono przy wykorzystaniu jakościowej analizy porównawczej na podstawie akademickich przedsiębiorstw odpryskowych. Celem artykułu jest zidentyfikowanie i opisanie konfiguracji modeli biznesu wraz z analizą ich powiązań z wysoką i niską efektywnością badanych przedsiębiorstw. Stwierdzono, że konfiguracje modeli biznesu wykorzystujące wysokiego poziomu zasoby ludzkie i posiadające szeroki dostęp do zasobów finansowych są powiązane z wysoką efektywnością. Ponadto wyodrębnione modele biznesu nie występują w żadnej z dwóch konfiguracji powiązanych z niską efektywnością.
    The paper presents and analysis of the business model configurations associated with performance by conducting a qualitative comparative analysis of university spin-off companies. The purpose of this paper is to identify and describe business model configurations, analyze their associations with high and low firm performance, and explore the nature of these associations. The configurations comprising business models leveraging high level human resources and having a wide access to financial resources are associated with high performance was found. In addition, the extracted business models are not featured in any of the two configurations associated with low performance.

    The purpose of this article is to determine the main conditions for the profitable production of motorboats in Poland by taking into account the implementation of an R&D project. Theoretical considerations were made for the analysis of the main considerations based on the VT Sport case study. A descriptive analysis was carried out, indicating the market conditions for the functioning of enterprises producing motorboats, including electric boats. The effects of the implementation of the R&D project for the production of electric motorboats were indicated. Results were obtained for defining changes in the business model through the use of the R&D project, and a critical discourse on the effectiveness of electric propulsion of motorboats was carried out.

    The main aim of the article is to introduce the problem of pandemic crisis on the case of one of the largest companies in the country which specialise in passenger rail transport. Two different analyses of its financial condition were methodically carried out over a period of five years, just before its occurrence. The results of the analyses turned out to be different. The method of comparing sales results, although it indicated a clear downturn, gave no cause for concern. The discriminant method, on the other hand, indicated that the company’s health was at a very good level in the four years before the pandemic. The next two years were a little less good, although not alarming. The critical moment became the last year of the analysis, when the pandemic began. The indicators clearly approached the limit values, which would indicate a state of near bankruptcy. This procedure is a key action aimed at improving the competitiveness of the company on the transport market. It is also important to take care of the rolling stock management and the level of services provided. In view of the situation, the authors have pointed out the need to carry out actions aimed at levelling the effects of the crisis. The basic tasks included the need to reconstruct the business model and to re-identify strategic processes aimed at verifying the company’s policy towards the changes taking place. This procedure is a key action aimed at improving the competitiveness of the company on the transport market. It is also important to take care of the rolling stock management and the level of services provided. The added value is effective communication at all levels of the company. It can only be audited and managed if the performance is visualised in the form of indicators, the results of which depend on the level of employee motivation. In the writing of the article, scientific literature, both Polish and foreign, as well as official results of the analysed company were used.
    Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest prezentacja problematyki kryzysu pandemicznego na przykładzie jednego z największych przedsiębiorstw w kraju specjalizujących się w kolejowym transporcie pasażerskim. Przeprowadzono wobec niego dwie metodycznie odmienne analizy kondycji finansowej w okresie pięciu lat, tuż przed jego wystąpieniem. Uzyskane wyniki analiz okazały się odmiennie różne. Metoda porównywania wyników sprzedażowych, choć wskazała wyraźną dekoniunkturę, to nie dawała powodu do zmartwień. Metoda dyskryminacyjna natomiast wskazała, że kondycja przedsiębiorstwa jest na bardzo dobrym poziomie w okresie czterech lat przed pandemią. Kolejne dwa lata były nieco słabsze, choć nie alarmujące. Krytycznym momentem stał się ostatni rok analizy, w którym wybuchła pandemia. Wskaźniki wyraźnie zbliżyły się do wartości granicznych, co wskazywałoby na stan bliski upadłości. Wobec zaistniałej sytuacji autorzy wskazali potrzebę przeprowadzenia działań zmierzających do zniwelowania skutków kryzysu. Do podstawowych zadań zaliczono potrzebę rekonstrukcji modelu biznesowego oraz ponowną identyfikację procesów strategicznych mających na celu weryfikację polityki przedsiębiorstwa wobec zachodzących zmian. Zabieg ten stanowi kluczowe działanie zmierzające do poprawy konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstwa na rynku transportowym. Istotnym staje się również dbałość o gospodarkę taborową oraz poziom świadczonych usług. Wartością dodaną zaś jest sprawnie funkcjonująca komunikacja realizowana na wszystkich poziomach przedsiębiorstwa. Kontrola i zarządzanie nim jest możliwe tylko wtedy, gdy obraz działalności zwizualizowany zostanie w formie mierników, których wyniki uzależnione są od poziomu motywacji pracowników. W celu napisania artykułu wykorzystana została literatura naukowa, zarówno polska, jak i zagraniczna oraz oficjalne wyniki finansowe badanego przedsiębiorstwa.

    The fourth industrial revolution has resulted in technology advancements in the manufacturing industry. However, the innovation potential embedded in these technologies should be unlocked by a viable application, i.e., the business model (BM). The BM as a holistic concept featuring different interacting elements is thus emerging as a promising vehicle for innovation. Current BM research describes the entire domain but lacks depth in the characterization of its individual components. This paper investigates the available manufacturing literature through the lens of the BM concept performing a scientometric analysis. The results are presented in a relational framework that provides an in-depth characterization of the manufacturing element of the BM and highlights identified connections that link the BM components. This is the basis for tools that will support firms in developing manufacturing portfolios aligned with their strategic goals.
