Structural change for the Koyck Distributed Lag Model is analyzed through the Bayesian approach. The posterior distribution of the break point is derived with the use of the normal-gamma prior density and the break point, ν, is estimated by the value that attains the Highest Posterior Probability (HPP). Simulation study is done using R.
Given the parameter values ϕ = 0.2 and λ = 0.3, the full detection of the structural change when σ² = 1 is generally attained at ν + 1. The after one lag detection is due to the nature of the model which includes lagged variable. The interval estimate HPP near ν consistently and efficiently captures the break point ν in the interval HPPₜ ± 5% of the sample size. On the other hand, the detection of the structural change when σ² = 2 does not show any improvement of the point estimate of the break point ν.

The tumblehome hull adopts some novelty designs such as low-tumblehome freeboard and wave-piercing bow. The new form design makes the ship have many special hydrodynamic performances. Especially the green water of tumblehome hull is different from that of hulls with flare free board. Green water is a strong nonlinear phenomenon of ship-wave interaction, the variation of free surface of liquid is complicated, and there are still some difficulties to solve green water problems well with numerical simulation method. In this paper firstly the motion responses of the tumblehome hull was calculated based on 3D potential theory, and then the dam-break flow model was used to calculate green water height and pressure distribution. According to the result of numerical simulation, some typical working conditions are chosen for 3D CFD simulation using RANS method. The results of numerical simulation methods are compared with the experimental results measured in towing tank. The influence of different ship form parameters and wave parameters to the green water of tumblehome hull is analyzed, and some regularities of green water on tumblehome hull in regular waves are summarized.

Most economic time series, such as GDP, real exchange rate and banking series are irregular by nature as they may be affected by a variety of discrepancies, including political changes, policy reforms, import-export market instability, etc. When such changes entail serious consequences for time series modelling, various researchers manage this problem by applying a structural break. Thus, the aim of this paper is to develop a generalised structural break time series model. The paper discusses a panel autoregressive model with multiple breaks present in all parameters, i.e. in the autoregressive coefficient and mean and error variance, which is a generalisation of various sub-models. The Bayesian approach is applied to estimate the model parameters and to obtain the highest posterior density interval. Strong evidence is observed to support the Bayes estimator and then it is compared with the maximum likelihood estimator. A simulation experiment is conducted and an empirical application on the SARRC association’s GDP per capita time series is used to illustrate the performance of the proposed model. This model is also extended to a temporary shift model. Key words: panel autoregressive model, structural break, MCMC, posterior probability.

The aim of this study was to analyze the dynamics of monthly prices in the beef marketing chain in Poland in the years 1997-2012. The study showed that in the time series of farm and retail prices of beef meat in Poland structural break points occurred. They are mainly associated with appearance of BSE disease and the Polish accession to the European Union. The farm and retail price series are non-stationary and farm prices Granger-cause retail prices. The estimates of the long-run parameters depend on the assumptions about deterministic variables existence in the Engel-Granger cointegration equation, including structural breaks among them.

The break-up of liquid ligaments and formation of droplets are elementary phenomena in multiphase flows which are of high importance in industrial and medical applications. From the numerical point of view, they require proper interface and surface tension treatment. In the present work, we apply Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics, a meshless approach, to simulate the break-up of a liquid cylinder inside the gaseous phase, i.e. the Rayleigh-Plateau instability. Results obtained in 3D show that even a relatively coarse resolution allows one to predict correctly the size of droplets formed in the process. The detailed analysis of the break-up time in 2D setup implies that a certain level of spatial discretisation needs to be reached to determine this moment precisely.

For industrial and military applications, a sequence of missions would be performed with a limited break between two adjacent missions. To improve the system reliability, selective maintenance may be performed on components during the break. Most studies on selective maintenance generally use minimal repair and replacement as maintenance actions while break duration is assumed to be deterministic. However, in practical engineering, many maintenance actions are imperfect maintenance, and the break duration is stochastic due to environmental and other factors. Therefore, a selective maintenance optimization model is proposed with imperfect maintenance for stochastic break duration. The model is aimed to maximize the reliability of system successfully completing the next mission. The reinforcement learning(RL) method is applied to optimally select maintenance actions for selected components. The proposed model and the advantages of the RL are verified by three case studies verify.

The primary objective of this article is to determine the degree of popularity of stag tourism destinations in Europe. Research was based on the search engine method, involving an analysis of the highest positioned offers of travel agencies in the most commonly used search engines in Europe (Google, Bing, Yahoo). The analysis divided the studied cities into four categories in terms of popularity. Conducting the said analysis is strongly justified, because academic publications have so far not provided studies which have determined the degree of popularity of stag destinations on a continental scale.

Rapid development of slurry wall technology in the underground constructions caused a noticeable increase in interest, cut-off walls well known in the past. Introduction of hardening slurry to this technology makes their construction easier and creates new possibilities for their application. Current challenge lies in subsoil insulation in order to avoid contamination spread into the ground waters. Thus, besides the already well known problems, new ones appeared, in that the issue of corrosion, especially of a chemical nature, to which the cut-off walls are exposed in the environment of aggressive groundwater. The paper focuses on the assessment of the hardening slurries to sulphate attack. The results of own investigations of cement-bentonite hardening slurry and cement-bentonite-ash hardening slurry prepared with the addition of aggressive liquid, as well as, with tap water and kept in a sulphate ion medium for 1 year are presented. Contamination spreading in non-filtration conditions was modelled. Tests of samples made with tap water and stored in tap water are considered as controls. The paper presents results of tests of liquid slurries properties and results of assessments of hardened slurries. Changes in mass of slurries, compressive and tensile strength and changes in sample storage environment chemistry were measured. Thermographic investigations of slurries were also conducted. The results of investigations and review of literature data on hardening slurries corrosion resistance to sulphate attack are presented. Practical suggestions in relation to the application of cut-off walls made of hardening slurries are made.

Local self-government constitutes a part of executive power in the state, with the state’s law underlying its functioning. Local government remains under the state’s supervision, representing a form of the political system within the decentralized public administration. 2018 marks 20 years of the functioning of local self-government based on a three-tier structure. The aim of the paper is an attempt at finding the answer to the question whether or not the organizational solutions adopted by the legislator and established in practice need to undergo reforms and if so, to what extent? The question thus formulated relates directly to the argument that the organization of local government system is not sound while the criteria assumed in the territorial breakdown of the local government organization do not correspond to the conditions in which those units operate, and therefore what appears necessary is for the system to be reorganized and the number of units at individual tiers to be reduced. The paper presents selected problems of the local administration in the context of a systemic organization and suggest possible (or necessary) changes which, in the author’s view, should become a subject of discussion (and in practice are such) between local selfgovernment and government administration.

Using the example of one section of a railway line, the effect of various factors on breaks in train service has been analysed. The types, number and duration of breakdowns, as well as their influence on both passenger and goods trains service have been specified. The traffic capacity of a railway line is related to the possibility of meeting the timetable, which is therefore affected by all breaks. It is very important to know the type of breakdowns, their number and influence on a railway line capacity as well as their causes.
Na przykładzie jednego odcinka linii kolejowej przeanalizowano wpływ różnych czynników na przerwy w ruchu pociągów. Wyszczególniono rodzaje awarii, liczbę oraz czas ich trwania, a także ich wpływ na kursowanie pociągów osobowych i towarowych. Przepustowość linii kolejowej dotyczy możliwości zrealizowania rozkładu jazdy i dlatego wszystkie przerwy mają wpływ na jego planowość. Bardzo istotna jest również wiedza nie tylko o rodzaju, liczbie awarii i ich wpływie na przepustowość linii kolejowej, ale również przyczyny ich powstawania.

L’auteur traite sur une valeur juridique de la décision de divorcer. Il distingue la prise de résolution du divorce qui est l’acte positive de la volonté de qui au can. 1101 § 2 CDC d’une attitude favorable au divorce, des opinions sur l ’existence du droit national admettant l’obtention du divorce, des déclarations sur une possibilité de divorcer et d’une soif ou d’une prévision de divorcer ou de la rupture de la vie commune. L’intention de divorcer ne doit pas du tout être l’intention positive de la rupture du lien conjugal de qui au can. 1101 § 2 CDC. Donc il faut que le juge qui porte le jugement dans un procés en invalidité du mariage à cause de la prise de résolution du divorce fasse de la qualification de droit de l’intention du simulateur supposé. Il doit fixer si cette intention était l’acte positive de la volonté excluant l’indissolubilité du mariage ou seulement l’une des dispositions intellectuelles mentionnées ci-dessus.

Tsunami disasters have frequently occurred in recent years. More and more researchers are focusing on this topic. To investi-gate the tsunami bore impact mechanism on a container model, a multi-functional slope-changing tsunami flume is built in this study. To simulate a tsunami bore, a dam-break wave was generated by a free-falling gate in a reservoir. A needle water level gauge and a high-speed camera were used to measure the tsunami wave heights and velocities for different storage water levels in the test flume, and the corresponding Froude numbers of tsunami waves were also calculated. The factors af-fecting the movement distance of the tsunami wave impacting the container model are explored in this experiment, and the results show that the movement distance is positively correlated with the storage water level, and negatively correlated with the container density and the coast slope.

The core objective of the study is to analyze the association between export and economic growth under the consideration of the time frame 1967 to 2017 for Pakistan economy. The review of literature assists to find out the frequently utilize factors are the real GDP per capita, export, import, trade openness, fiscal development and capi-tal formation possible determinants of the economic growth. However, Export Led Growth (ELG) hypothesis is oftenly employed to elaborate the affiliation between export and the growth. Autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bound test approach to cointegration accompanied with the structural break and vector auto regressive (VAR) are employed to analysis the long-term association among real GDP per capita, ex-port, import, trade openness, fiscal development and capital formation. The empirical analysis confirms the cointegration among the factors and the ELG hypothesis holds in Pakistan economy. The Block Exogeneity reveals that export and the capital formation have strong influence to stimulate the economic growth. While all the other factors have cumulative influence on the growth. Moreover, the impulse response exposes that if the shock of real GDP per capita, import, trade openness, fiscal development and the capital formation are given to the export, then response of export would be positive in the coming time frame.
Głównym celem badania jest analiza związku między eksportem a wzrostem gospodarczym w okresie 1967–2017 dla gospodarki Pakistanu. Przegląd literatury pomaga ustalić, że prawdopodobne czynniki wzrostu gospodarcze-go to rzeczywisty PKB na mieszkańca, eksport, import, otwartość handlu, rozwój fiskalny oraz nakłady kapitałowe. Jednak hipoteza wzrostu dzięki eksportu (ELG) jest często stosowana w celu opracowania powiązania między eksportem a wzrostem. Do analizy długoterminowego związku między rzeczywistym PKB na mieszkańca, eksportem, importem, otwartością handlową, rozwojem fiskalnym i nakładami kapitałowymi stosuje się podejście do kointe-gracji z autoregresyjnym rozproszonym opóźnieniem (ARDL) wraz ze strukturalnym podziałem i automatyczną regresją wektorową (VAR). Analiza empiryczna potwierdza kointegrację między czynnikami i hipotezę wzrostu dzięki eksportu (ELG) w gospodarce Pakistanu. Blokowa egzogeniczność wykazuje, że eksport i nakłady kapitało-we mają silny wpływ na rozwój ekonomiczny. Wtenczas gdy wszystkie inne czynniki mają kumulatywny wpływ na wzrost. Ponadto reakcja impulsowa ujawnia, że jeśli wpływ rzeczywistego PKB na mieszkańca, import, otwartość handlu, rozwój fiskalny i nakłady inwestycyjne wywierany jest na eksport, wówczas reakcja eksportu byłaby pozytywna w nadchodzących ramach czasowych.

This article is aimed at analyzing the break between fathers and their children in the texts of Boubacar Boris Diop, in which another figure often replaces that of the biological parent. Participating in the identity construction of his foster son, the spiritual father grants him memory which is contradictory to the official history. This clash, omnipresent in Boubacar Boris Diop’s novels, testifies of a change of paradigm revealing a deep crisis of the father figure in African postcolonial societies. We are indeed very far from the mythicized image of the pater nobilis which used to be omnipresent in African literature.
