Opis:
The renewable energy sources or energy storage devices deliver output voltage at the range of around 12 VDC to 48 VDC. In order to obtain at least 350 VDC needed for direct to alternating current conversion the DC/DC power converter should demonstrate significant voltage gain and power conversion efficiency as high as possible. To obtain such level of output voltage at low input voltages transistors of the boost converter must operate with high currents. High efficiency and high voltage gain can be achieved with parallel combination of two or more isolated step-up converters. The converters operate synchronously and in phase, using the same control signals. Balancing transformers are used to ensure the synchronization and equal distribution of current between the power levels. They provide equal distribution of significant input current to a number of smaller current loops. This feature alongside with the use of power MOSFETs with low channel resistance and silicon carbide (SiC) Schottky diodes will reduce losses within the converter and increase the efficiency of entire energy conversion system. This paper presents PSpice simulation results of partial parallel isolated DC/DC boost converter with voltage doubler. In presented circuit high voltage gain and high conversion efficiency were achieved.

Opis:
Conventional boost converters are widely used for connecting low-voltage power sources and inverters in motor control. However, a large filter capacitor bank is often used to reduce DC-link ripples that occur when an inverter is connected to a boost converter. Otherwise, significant voltage and current perturbations can impact on battery performance degradation and cause torque ripple, speed ripple and vibration in brushless DC (BLDC) motors. To suppress the converter’s DC-link ripple, this paper proposes a new control strategy for boost converter controller to generate low-ripple DC-link voltage or current at different motor speeds. In the proposed method, observers are designed to adaptively estimate the DC-link voltage and current harmonics. The harmonic terms are used as feedback signals to calculate the DC converter’s duty cycle. The entire control model is implemented on an embedded system, and its robustness is verified by simulation and experimental results that show the DC-link voltage and current ripples can be reduced by about 50% and 30%, respectively.

The research for novel power conversion topologies and the development of cutting-edge power component technologies are driven by the demand for renewable and much more efficient electricity generation, delivery, and conversion. Simulation and Analysis High Voltage Gain DC-DC Converter with Double Voltage Booster Switched Inductor for PV Applications are analyzed in this paper. Multilevel boost converter topologies recently reintroduced, are gaining popularity as a solution for industrial and transportation power systems because they enable the use of innovative, efficient, but relatively low voltage low-voltage devices at greater voltage and power levels. there is only one power switch on the converter that is planned here, three diodes, two capacitors, and two inductors to achieve ultra-high gain with better efficiency. High voltage gain, minimal switch stress, and the ability to lessen input-current ripple and capacitor voltage ripple are all benefits of the topology. When it switches complementary, the capacitors' ripple is reduced, which lowers the size requirement for the capacitors. A 12V, 500 watts prototype was analyzed, simulated and designed. at a duty cycle of 0.75 it is achieved high DC-DC gain i.e 19 and efficiency 93%. The practicality of the converter will be demonstrated by the close agreement between the analysis and simulation findings.

Opis:
The development of photovoltaic (PV) panels has made solar-powered pumps a reality. The pump drivers are usually direct-current (DC) motors which are fed by power electronic converters with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to extract the whole energy that the PV panels can generate depending on the environmental conditions including irradiation and temperature. The implementation of MPPT algorithm essentially involves sensing both an input current and an input voltage. Understandably, such realization is expensive. In this paper, a solar PV water pumping system based on DC to DC converter as MPPT module is considered. The system consists of a PV array, a DC to DC boost converter and the DC motor coupled to a centrifugal pump. A proposed method is employed to seek the maximum power point using the flow rate obtained from a single sensor. A comparison with conventional hill climbing technique is included in experimental results to prove feasibility of the proposed method.

Opis:
This paper presents a new concept for a power electronic converter – the extended T-type (eT) inverter, which is a combination of a three-phase inverter and a three-level direct current (dc)/dc converter. The novel converter shows better performance than a comparable system composed of two converters: a T-type inverter and a boost converter. At first, the three-level dc/dc converter is able to boost the input voltage but also affects the neutral point potential. The operation principles of the eT inverter are explained and a simulation study of the SiC-based 6 kVA system is presented in this paper. Presented results show a serious reduction of the DC-link capacitors and the input inductor. Furthermore, suitable SiC power semiconductor devices are selected and power losses are estimated using Saber software in reference to a comparative T-type inverter. According to the simulations, the 50 kHz/6 kVA inverter feed from the low voltage (250 V) shows <2.5% of power losses in the suggested SiC metal oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) and Schottky diodes. Finally, a 6 kVA laboratory model was designed, built and tested. Conducted measurements show that despite low capacitance (2 × 30 μF/450 V), the neutral point potential is balanced, and the observed efficiency of the inverter is around 96%.

Opis:
This paper presents a concept and the results of an investigation of a DC–DC boost converter with high voltage gain and a reduced number of switches. The novel concept assumes that the converter operates in a topology composed of series connection switched- capacitor-based multiplier (SCVM) sections. Furthermore, the structure of the sections has significant impact on parameters of the converter which is discussed in this paper. The paper demonstrates the basic benefit such a multisection SCVM idea in the converter, which is the significant reduction in the number of switches and diodes for high voltage gain in comparison to an SCVM converter. Aside from the number of switches and diodes, such parameters as efficiency and volume of passive components in the multisection converter are analyzed in this paper. In figures, the analysis is demonstrated using the example of 100 kW thyristor-based converters. All the characteristics of the converter are compared between various configurations of switching cells in the particular sections, thus the paper can be useful for a design approach for a high voltage gain multicell converter.

Opis:
In order to utilize energy from low voltage power source it is necessary to use isolated DC/DC boost converter which will provide desirable input voltage step-up. To obtain a high voltage gain it is necessary to apply a magnetic device with the relevant turns ratio to the converter structure. This can be coupled inductor or transformer. The great advantage of the transformer is galvanic isolation between the subsequent power levels. Unfortunately, the high values of voltage gain is accompanied by significant currents on the primary transformer side. Large DC input currents cause an increase in power losses as the transistor conduction losses are proportional to square of current. The solution to this problem would be to divide a large input current into smaller currents through applying balancing transformers in converter structure. The input current in one stage exactly matches the current in the parallel branch, therefore there is no need for additional control to guarantee current balancing between power stages. This technique, together with the use of transistors with a small drain-source resistance and output SiC (silicon carbide) Schottky diodes enables converter to achieve necessary output voltage. This paper presents PSpice simulation results and mathematical analysis of half-bridge isolated DC/DC boost converter. In presented circuit high voltage gain and high conversion efficiency were achieved.

This paper presents a comparison of conducted EMI performance of Si and SiC MOSFETs in a CCM PFC boost converter that is designed to meet CE102 of MIL-STD- 461F. EMI performance comparison is based on MOSFET of the PFC converter. That is, the power switch of the converter is the only parameter that is changed during tests. The boost diode is kept the same during the tests and the type of the boost diode is SiC. The paper shows the CE102 test results of Si and SiC MOSFETs without an EMI filter at the input side of CCM PFC boost converter.

DC-DC converters are popular switch-mode electronic circuits used in power supply systems of many electronic devices. Designing such converters requires reliable computation methods and models of components contained in these converters, allowing for accurate and fast computations of their characteristics. In the paper, a new averaged model of a diode-transistor switch containing an IGBT is proposed. The form of the developed model is presented. Its accuracy is verified by comparing the computed characteristics of the boost converter with the characteristics computed in SPICE using a transient analysis and literature models of a diode and an IGBT. The obtained results of computations proved the usefulness of the proposed model.
