Opis:
The tip-timing measurement of rotor blade vibration of a real turbine is very expensive. An electronic simulator of unshrouded steam turbine rotor blade vibrations for aliasing frequencies up to 25 Hz is presented in this paper. The results of the simulated blade vibrations were compared with ones carried out on a real steam turbine. The simulator can be also used to: calibrate the measurement channels, help in the designing and manufacturing new tip-timing systems, and check the reliability of other tip-timing systems.

This paper presents the numerical and experimental study of the flow structure in a radial cooling passage model of a gas turbine blade. The investigations focus on the flow aerodynamics in the channel, which is an accurate representation of the configuration used in aero engines. The flow structure and pressure drop were measured by classical measurement techniques. The stagnation pressure and velocity measurements in a channel outlet plane were performed. The investigations concerning the flow field and heat transfer used in the design of radial cooling passages are often developed from simplified models. It is important to note that real engine passages do not have perfect rectangular cross sections, but include corner fillets, ribs with fillet radii and special orientation. Therefore, this work provides detailed fluid flow data for a model of radial cooling geometry which possesses very realistic features. The main purpose of these investigations was to study different channel configurations and their influence on the flow structure and pressure losses in a radial cooling passage of a gas turbine blade.

This paper analyzes the possibility of resonances within a control stage of a high speed turbine. An original method for steady state operation is used for the analysis of the stiffness matrix representing: initial displacement blade (nominal shape blade obtained by nominal working point of turbine) and residual stresses following local crossing yield plastic strain. In the analysis there has been found a possibility of occurance of the resonance frequency, and mistuning by showing the safe working ranges. The calculation used the 3D modal and harmonic analysis within computational solid dynamics (CSD) and the results were compared with the 0D data from literature. After local crossing of yields stresses, on the basis of the harmonic analysis, there has been shown operation of the blade in the resonance point. Before crossing the yield stresses the blade is working in mistuning and a safe point.

In this paper the method of creating indices for description leaf blade roundness and asymmetry, based on division of the leaf into 10 equal parts perpendicularly to the long axis was proposed. Along each division line the distance between the midrib and the leaf edge was measured separately for the left and right site of the blade. Sum of all 18 measurements, 9 on each side, may be treated as an index of the roundness of the leaf blade. Differences between sums of all measurements of the left and right leaf site could be a base for calculations of various asymmetry indices, including indicators of fluctuating asymmetry. Indices obtained by this method are quite sensitive and may be analysed using standard statistical methods.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the power and thrust coefficients of a horizontal axis tidal stream turbine (HATST) with different blade geometries, including twist angles, blade numbers, and section profiles. The RANS equations and Star-CCM+ commercial software were used to numerically analyze these variables. Furthermore, the turbulence model used in this study is a Realisable k-ε turbulent model. Nine different models were defined by changing the twist angle, thickness, camber, and blade numbers. The results are presented, and the power and thrust coefficients are compared against TSR for each of the nine different models. The pressure distribution and flow velocity contour are also presented and discussed.

Opis:
The dynamic behaviour of a rotor consisting of two tuned and mistuned bladed discs on a solid shaft is considered. The effect of the shaft's flexibility on the dynamic characteristics of the bladed discs and the coupling effects between the shaft and bladed disc modes are investigated. Results show clearly the coupling effects in a bladed disc-shaft system. Interference diagrams are developed, from which the dynamic behaviour of a bladed disc can be predicted for varying flexibility relationships between solid shafts and bladed discs. The global rotating mode shapes of flexible tuned and mistuned bladed disc-shaft assemblies are calculated. Rotational effects, such as centrifugal stiffening, are accounted for and all the possible couplings between the flexible parts are allowed. Calculated natural frequencies obtained from the blade, the bladed disc and the shaft with two discs are checked to discover resonance conditions and coupling effects. It is shown that blade mistuning strongly affects the interaction between flexible bladed discs and a flexible shaft. This interaction affects the flexible bladed disc modes and is not restricted to the modes with zero, one and two nodal diameters. The torsional frequency of the shaft with two bladed discs is coupled with the zero nodal diameter modes of the single bladed discs. It is shown that including the shaft in the bladed discs model is important from the designer's point of view and may alter the spectrum of frequencies considerably.

Do najważniejszych z nich należy motyw ontologicznych nieciągłości cyberbiologicznych zwierząt (animoidów), a także pomysł narracyjnego powiązania bytów organicznych i technologicznych z ideą międzygatunkowego splotu.
The plot of Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? inspired the creators of screenplays for the movies Blade Runner (1982) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017). Apart from the often discussed theme of the cogito of the androids, the Blade Runner trilogy also contains narrative strategies that allow researchers to analyse it from the perspective of animal studies. Of particular importance are the ontological discontinuities of cyberbiological animals (animoids) and the idea of interspecies links between organic and technological beings, which is interpreted here as a criticism of consumer society. The foregoing narrative strategies, linked to the spectre of the ecocatastrophe, introduce intertextual references related to the Anthropocene and the crisis of spirituality. They also indicate the necessity of rethinking some of the rudimentary means of cultural categorization.

This study focuses on the development of a reliable prosthetic running blade primarily composed of carbon fiber. The reliable performance of novel prosthetic running blades has been evaluated by mechanical testing and finite element numerical modeling. Theexperimental analysis confirmed that these blades exhibit superior suitability for high-impact activities, demonstrating reliable load-bearing capacity and effective shock absorption properties. The tensile testing exhibited a linear elastic behavior of the composite material up to a strain of 0.075 mm/mm. Further, it was found that stress concentration areas and fracture points within the blade structure. Furthermore, numerical results revealed a maximum deflection of 29.60 mm that the blade can achieve. The kinetic energy loss during impact demonstrated an 8.5% decrease in blade kinetic energy, with the highest loss occurring at Vy = 30 m/s. Ultimately, this research aims to enhance the reliability, durability, and safety of prosthetic running blades, empowering athletes to reach new heights in sports.

Opis:
In this paper, the behaviour of a hingeless helicopter blade with a novel integrated smart morphing actuator is studied. The proposed smart device is aimed at the reduction of BVI noise through transformation of the blade tip shape into an anhedral tip type and is based on the concept of a variable-stiffness blade. In detail, the blade morphing is obtained through joint action of a magnetorheological-fluid (MRF) device, shape-memory alloy (SMA) tie-rods and a set of concentrated masses properly distributed spanwise. In this architecture, the MRF system has to provide local bending-stiffness reduction and concentrated masses have to provide inertial moments whereas the SMA tie-rods have to mould the blade tip shape. Since the equilibrium configuration of the smart blade deeply depends on the interaction between the aeroelastic response and the actuation loads, in this work a numerical investigation examines potentiality and shortcomings of the proposed integrated smart system to morph a realistic blade with respect to the baseline configuration.

Results of calculation of the helicopter main rotor loads and deformations of rotor blades are presented. The simulations concern level flight states and cases of boundary flight envelope such as wind gust, dive recovery and pull-up manoeuvre. The calculations were performed for data of the three-bladed articulated rotor of light helicopter. The method of analysis assumes modelling the rotor blades as elastic axes with sets of lumped masses of blade segments distributed along radius of blade. The model of deformable blade allows flap, lead-lag and pitch motion of blade including effects of out-of-plane bending, in-plane bending and torsion due to aerodynamic and inertial forces and moments acting on the blade. Equations of motion of rotor blades are solved applying Runge-Kutta method. Parameters of blade motion, according to Galerkin method, are considered as a combination of assumed torsion and bending eigen modes of the rotor blade. The rotor loads, in all considered cases of flight states, are calculated for quasi-steady conditions assuming the constant value of the following parameters: rotor rotational speed, position of the main rotor axis in air and position of swashplate due to rotor axis which defines the collective and cyclic control pitch angle of blades. The results of calculations of rotor loads and blade deflections are presented in form of timeruns and as distributions on rotor disk due to blade elements radial and azimuthal positions. The simulation investigation may help to collect data for prediction the fatigue strength of blade applying results for steady flight states and for definition the extreme loads for boundaries of helicopter flight envelope.

An electrolysis process method for free-form blade surface finishing is proposed for a free-form surface impeller, and a stepwise method is used to process the inter-blade channel of the overall impeller. The forming cathode is then used to finish the blade to meet the blade processing requirements. In the design, the forming cathode structure was improved by using motion simulation software, and the flow field simulation software was used to simulate and analyze the cathode flow channel. The cathode shape and the electrolyte flow rate between the electrodes meet the processing requirements. In the process of processing experiments, the motion path of the cathode was analyzed and optimized. The effect of the feed direction on the uneven distribution of the blade machining gap was reduced through optimization, and highfrequency pulse power processing was used to reduce the machining gap and improve the machining accuracy of the blade. The experimental results show that the process scheme is feasible and the precision of the processed impeller free-form surface is significantly improved. The material is a monolithic turbine disk of high-temperature alloys, and its large twisted blade processing has always been a problem in the manufacturing industry.

Aerodynamic unsteady forces of rotor blades in a turbine stage with steam extraction were calculated and blade failure was reported. A numerical calculation of the 3D transonic flow of an ideal gas through turbomachinery blade rows moving one in relation to another is presented. An ideal gas flow through mutually moving stator and rotor blades with periodicity on the whole annulus is described with unsteady Euler conservation equations, integrated using the explicit monotonous finite-volume difference scheme of Godunov-Kolgan and a moving hybrid H-H grid. In order to find the pressure distribution of steam parameters behind the rotor blades, calculations were performed for a steady flow through the stage and the steam extraction channels using the SPARC program and the unsteady forces of the rotor blade were calculated for four steam extraction conditions. For the maximal steam extraction the 10th harmonic of the axial force and moment was found to be close to the first natural frequency of the bladed disc with one nodal diameter. Thus, steam extraction can be the cause of the blade's failure.

Research regarding blade design and analysis of flow has been attracting interest for over a century. Meanwhile new concepts and design approaches were created and improved. Advancements in information technologies allowed to introduce computational fluid dynamics and computational flow mechanics. Currently a combination of mentioned methods is used for the design of turbine blades. These methods enabled us to improve flow efficiency and strength of turbine blades. This paper relates to a new type turbine which is in the phase of theoretical analysis, because the working fluid is a mixture of steam and gas generated in a wet combustion chamber. The main aim of this paper is to design and analyze the flow characteristics of the last stage of gas-steam turbine. When creating the spatial model, the atlas of profiles of reaction turbine steps was used. Results of computational fluid dynamics simulations of twisting of the last stage are presented. Blades geometry and the computational mesh are also presented. Velocity vectors, for selected dividing sections that the velocity along the pitch diameter varies greatly. The blade has the shape of its cross-section similar to action type blades near the root and to reaction type blades near the tip. Velocity fields and pressure fields show the flow characteristics of the last stage of gas-steam turbine. The net efficiency of the cycle is equal to 52.61%.
