    The conceptual category of the reasoning narrative is the starting point for the considerations presented. Looking at the concept through the prism of interpretative interactionism and the phenomenological and hermeneutic approach helps to discover the meaning and significanceof each of the perspectives for the discovery of wealth of understanding of everything that the human person is involved in and of the world he resides in, creates and converts to his own needs. The considerations in the text stress the importance of human reflection,ability to retrace feelings in the individual biography and of being able to interpret one’s own experiences. Presenting these considerations in the biographic-narrative orientation reveals the essence of understanding of the issues discussed in the article from the perspective of the experiencing subject.

    Many researchers argue that the analysis process of any narrative and biographical inquiry is a delicate, arduous and complex stage and requires creativity, advanced skills and the technique of the researcher. This research note, based on a research project carried out in Spain, makes a unique contribution to this debate by reflecting about the Cross-Narrative Model, whose father was Lewis (1973), introducing two concepts: Biographical Units and the Analysis Units. Furthermore, it describes the analysis process laying emphasis on the particular methodological challenges and possible benefits of using these units to build up a two-part biographical account. This research note concludes that the use of the Cross-Narrative Analysis model could be considered as a possible alternative to the on-going discussion on advancing the rigorous and resourcefulness narrative qualitative analysis endeavour.

    The paper presents the main assumptions of the narrative learning theory developed by M. Carolyn Clark and Marsha Rossiter. The theory is based on the idea that people understand themselves as well as the changes over the course of their lives narratively. Narratives are a uniquely human way of giving meaning to life experience. According to the authors, narrative learning is a twofold concept: 1) learning through stories (listening to stories, telling stories, recognizing stories), 2) conceptualizing learning as a narrative process.
    W tekście przedstawiono zarys teorii narracyjnego uczenia się opracowanej przez M. Carolyn Clark i Marshę Rossiter. Teoria oparta jest na założeniu, że ludzie rozumieją nie tylko siebie, ale także zmiany zachodzące w biegu ich życia w sposób narracyjny. Narracje są unikalnym sposobem nadawania znaczenia doświadczeniom życiowym. W ujęciu autorek narracyjne uczenie się stanowi ramę do rozważań w dwojakim sensie: 1) uczenie się poprzez historie (tj. słuchanie historii, opowiadanie historii i rozpoznawanie historii), 2) konceptualizacja uczenia się jako procesu narracyjnego.

    It is a deep-seated belief that marriage plays an important role in contributing to happiness or success in life which is in this essay understood as the coexistence within the institutions of marriage and family. In an attempt to find a “recipe for marital happiness,” there have been expressed popular views that a successful life, a good husband or wife, just like in the lottery, depend on good luck and happy coincidence, and are independent of the knowledge and the will of the persons concerned. The concept of happiness encompasses subjective feelings, aspirations, expectations and experiences of an individual. To develop one’s own definition of happiness, one has to look more deeply into oneself. This idea became my main motivation to conduct research using biographical methods. This paper presents an analysis of the collected research material.

    This qualitative research study sought women, 40-55 years old, who were leaders in their organizations and examined if they recognized and navigated through feelings of impostor phenomenon. Their work has value and worth, yet the economic systems benefit men and ignore women’s work. We used a post structural feminist theory to conceptualize gender as a system of power and social relations that are continuously renegotiated. By using biographical narratives, the women were able to make sense of and navigate through feelings of impostorship and the patriarchal barriers to their own success, and we shared the data through a poetic narrative form. The findings acknowledged  that systems of power intersect when addressing gender, race, class, sexual orientation and others. While each woman’s culture and background are different, each experienced and expressed unique forms of oppression. Through their stories we then explored ways to best express those experiences and found that poetry provided participants and researchers an opportunity to learn through self-reflection and provided an opportunity for personal discovery. Biographical research and poetry provided ways to honor to the women’s experiences while also showing the larger ecosystem of communities that can sustain or destroy hope. The result of this study shows that impostor phenomenon is real to these women. They continue the challenge to cope within, to work outside, and to make their voices heard understanding that oppression, cultural backlash, and patriarchy are present and palpable, but that they are not alone.  
      To jakościowe badanie badawcze dotyczyło kobiet w wieku 40-55 lat, które były liderami w swoich organizacjach i sprawdzały, czy rozpoznają i radzą sobie z uczuciem oszusta. Ich praca ma wartość i wartość, ale systemy ekonomiczne przynoszą korzyści mężczyznom i ignorują pracę kobiet. Wykorzystaliśmy poststrukturalną teorię feministyczną, aby konceptualizować płeć jako system władzy i relacji społecznych, które są stale renegocjowane. Korzystając z narracji biograficznych, kobiety były w stanie zrozumieć poczucie oszustwa i patriarchalne bariery utrudniające ich własny sukces, a także poradzić sobie z nimi, a my udostępniliśmy dane w poetyckiej formie narracji. Odkrycia potwierdzają, że systemy władzy przecinają się w odniesieniu do płci, rasy, klasy, orientacji seksualnej i innych. Podczas gdy kultura i pochodzenie każdej kobiety są inne, każda z nich doświadczyła i wyrażała unikalne formy ucisku. Poprzez ich historie zbadaliśmy następnie sposoby jak najlepszego wyrażenia tych doświadczeń i odkryliśmy, że poezja daje uczestnikom i badaczom możliwość uczenia się poprzez autorefleksję i daje możliwość osobistego odkrywania. Badania biograficzne i poezja zapewniły sposoby na uhonorowanie doświadczeń kobiet, pokazując jednocześnie większy ekosystem społeczności, które mogą podtrzymywać lub niszczyć nadzieję. Wynik tego badania pokazuje, że zjawisko oszusta jest realne dla tych kobiet. Kontynuują wyzwanie, aby poradzić sobie w środku, pracować na zewnątrz i sprawić, by ich głosy zostały usłyszane, rozumiejąc, że ucisk, sprzeciw kulturowy i patriarchat są obecne i namacalne, ale nie są sami.

    The aim of the article is to analyze methodological aspects of implementing research project in a culturally different environment, where a language and national identity difference between interviewee and interviewer is present. The analysis is based on the fieldwork done by the Polish researcher in Ukraine. I try to answer whether different nationality influences in such situation the interaction with the interviewees and the results of the research, whether it is a burden or an advantage, and how this possible influence can be controlled. I am interested in issues of contact with the interviewees and interaction during the interview as such, as well as various kinds of the narrative’s modification by the interviewee because of the different nationality of the researcher. I illustrate the following problems with citations of the interviews conducted in the frame of the project.
    Celem artykułu jest analiza metodologicznych aspektów prowadzenia badań w obcym kulturowo środowisku, w sytuacji różnic językowych i różnych identyfikacji narodowych badacza i rozmówcy. Analiza problemu podjęta została na przykładzie badań terenowych zrealizowanych przez polską badaczkę na Ukrainie. Staram się odpowiedzieć na pytanie, czy odmienna narodowość ma w takiej sytuacji wpływ na interakcję z rozmówcami oraz otrzymywany materiał, czy jest ona obciążeniem czy zaletą, a także w jaki sposób można ten wpływ kontrolować. Interesuje mnie kwestia kontaktu z rozmówcami i interakcji podczas samego wywiadu oraz różnego rodzaju przypadki modyfikowania narracji przez rozmówcę ze względu na odmienną identyfikację narodową badacza. Prezentację poszczególnych problemów pojawiających się w toku realizacji badań i analizy materiału ilustruję fragmentami nagranych w ramach badań wywiadów.

    Artykuł prezentuje możliwy sposób metodologicznego połączenia perspektyw biograficznych w strategii badawczej oraz wskazuje potencjał poznawczy tego połączenia. Jest zaproszeniem do refleksji nad dwoma odmiennymi spojrzeniami na świat polskich seniorów-imigrantów w Szwecji z perspektywy badacza oraz perspektywy fotografa. To próba połączenia świata nauki ze światem sztuki. Artykuł wskazuje na możliwość wykorzystania portretów/zdjęć badanych osób do pogłębienia badań biograficznych. W artykule zaprezentowana jest propozycja modelu biografii koherentnej jako rezultat połączenia biografii z narracji (usłyszana od badanych) z biografią z fotografii (stworzona przez odbiorców fotografii – „wyczytana” ze zdjęcia). Jest to pewnego rodzaju eksperyment badawczy, który nie jest procesem zakończonym. Analizowany materiał badawczy pochodzi z badań przeprowadzonych wśród polskich seniorów-imigrantów w Szwecji.
    The aim of the article is to present the methodological possibility of combining the biographical perspectives in the research strategy and to show its cognitive results. It is an invitation to drawing a reflection on the two different views of the world of Polish senior immigrants’ in Sweden – the outlook of a researcher and a photographer. It is a trial of join the world of science with the world of art. The article presents the possibility of using the photos/portraits of researched people to deepen the research and to show the meaning of photography in biographical approach. The paper proposes a model of coherent biography as a result of combination of the biography of narration (heard from the narration) with biography of photo (life history of researched people “read”/created from the portraits by addressees of the portraits). The analyzed data came from research done among a group of Polish senior immigrants in Sweden.

    The paper shows how to apply biographical research, strictly speaking autobiographical narrative interview, in research on the past. The problem is analyzed in relation to a particular research project. The aim of the paper is neither to present the project as such nor to discuss its results but to show methodological and theoretical assumptions which enabled to conceptualized problems and design initial frames of interpretation related to specific social processes and phenomena. The authors want to show that in this perspective biographical research is not only the method of collecting and analyzing empirical data but it also designs a specific way of thinking about problems under the study. The aim of the Polish-German project was to analyze memory and biographical experiences of people born between 1945-55 in The People’s Republic of Poland and the German Democratic Republic.
    Przedmiotem artykułu jest pokazanie możliwości zastosowania badań biograficznych, a ściślej wywiadu autobiograficzno-narracyjnego, w badaniach nad biograficznym i społecznym obrazem przeszłości. Zostanie to ukazane na konkretnym przykładzie projektu badawczego. Przy czym nie są tu prezentowane ani przebieg, ani wyniki badań, ale założenia teoretyczne i metodologiczne, które umożliwiły konceptualizację problematyki i zarysowanie wstępnych ram interpretacyjnych związanych z projektem badania konkretnych zjawisk i procesów społecznych. Autorzy chcą w ten sposób pokazać możliwość wykorzystania badań biograficznych, które w tej perspektywie nie są jedynie metodą gromadzenia i analizy materiałów empirycznych, ale wyznaczają określony sposób myślenia o interesującej autorów problematyce. Celem projektu jest zbadanie polskiego i niemieckiego doświadczenia socjalizmu obejmującego lata 1945–1989.

    This paper attempts to contribute to the discussion on the use of biographical narratives in investigating FL teacher careers and bring to light their potential in teacher education, especially in the process of developing teacher identity and reflexivity. Biographical narratives provide indepth insights into individual professional careers which are viewed holistically, in the context the narrator’s life. Focused on the subjective dimensions of professional careers, narratives involve identification and interpretation of key events and persons in particular life stories, which stimulate the narrator’s reflexivity and enable them to find connections between episodes and make them meaningful.
