Opis:
1. It is true that the concept of creation takes on theological focus in Israel quitelate. e chosen nation was primarily interested in history and its relationto God, and then asked a question about the beginning of the world. Over time,as a result of historical events, it gradually developed a lesson on creation. Babylonianslavery played a decisive role in the theological reflection on creation. 2. The Old Testament texts testify that the statement “Yahweh has made heavenand earth” corresponds to a threefold theological intention. It has at the sametime a doxological, soteriological and polemic character. e Old Testamenttaken as a whole evokes a cosmogonic fact to praise the glory of the God of Israeland emphasise His transcendence, to question the worship of nature, freeingman from the caring cosmic and agrarian forces, and to guarantee salvationfor Israel and the world, relying on the power of God, able to make all thingsnew out of love for his chosen. 3. The Old Testament shows us that the theological reflection on the creationof the world and mankind has been expressed in various forms in the historyof Israel, there is no single formula of Israel’s faith in creation, but it is alwaysabout the same faith expressed in a formulation conditioned by the currentcultural context, always with the triple theological intentions mentioned above.is can be seen in the Old Testament writings, starting with the Jehovah andthe priestly writer, through Deutero-Isaiah and the author of the Book of Job,whose faith was later expressed in the first article of the creed: “I believe in Godthe Almighty Father, the Creator of heaven and earth.”

Opis:
Two general remarks arise from the synthetic interpretation of the biblical christocentrismpresented by Saint Hilary. e first concerns the subject of theologicalstudy and biblical studies. e above-mentioned presentation of the argumentsof Hilary implies that the mystery of Christ manifesting itself in history, of whichhe is the creator and interpreter at the same time, constitutes the essence of theologyand exegesis. e biblical senses, considered as the result of biblical andtheological research and study, in this approach are nothing but different aspectsof incomprehensible mystery of Christ. Because the mystery of Christ is revealedin history and is history itself, therefore the theological and exegetical studyis of a historical nature at least in the sense that this mystery can be recognizedby applying the aspect-oriented method by comparing what is contained in theScriptures with what people are currently experiencing in a particular episodeof history, because the creator of the latter is Christ. One could say that it seemsto follow from the last statement, that for Saint Hilary, there are no rigid formsof dogmas established once and for all but one: the incomprehensible mysteryof Christ. Although always and everywhere studied, it will never be understoodand expressed in words. In the act of studying it, a person constantly extractsnew aspects from it. It is the task of the exegete and theologian to update it,to make the faithful acquainted with the complexity of its message. If ordinarybelievers do this even at liturgical meetings, then, according to Hilary, eventhough they have not completed specialist theological and biblical studies, theycan read and interpret the holy text fruitfully.e second remark indicates the conditions sine qua non of the existenceand operation of the theologian, exegete, no matter if he is a specialistor an ordinary faithful. ese conditions are faith in Christ and perservancein participation in the Christological reality of the Church and the communityof the faithful. e above claim does not undermine the value of biblical andtheological studies – as understood by us in terms of erudite knowledge. Scholarlybiblical commentaries and the theological and historical writings of Saint Hilary can be regarded as the denial of such a conclusion. e Bishop of Poitiers,by encouraging his readers – by his own example – to intellectual and moralpreparation for the study of the Scriptures, also emphasizes the pointlessnessof practicing exegesis and theology if it is not accompanied by faith in Christ,in isolation from tradition, the continuity of history, finally in isolation fromthe community of the members of Church.

literariness of the Bible
reading the Bible as literature

Opis:
This paper presents considerations on reading the Bible as a literary work of art. The literary value of the Bible was recognized by ancient and renaissance authors, and especially in the eighteenth century by R. Lowth. However only in the second half of the twentieth century did some scholars start to study biblical texts using methods associated with modern literary criticism. It is possible, because, as contemporary theologians claim, the Bible has two dimensions: sacred (theological) and anthropological (literary). On the one hand, the Bible transcends the anthropological dimension to reveal the sacred, but on the other the sacred dimension is revealed by the work of man: literary forms. So if we want to better know the sacred, we need to recognize and study literary forms of the Bible. This approach allows to take into account the literariness of the biblical texts without reducing them to something secular. Furthermore, as a multifunctional text, the Bible has an aesthetic function among others. Even if this function is not in the foreground, the fact that we can distinguish it give us a good reason to read the Bible as a work of art. Thus it is not surprising, that the Bible occupies a significant position in the Western literary canon. Not only because of its cultural importance, but also for its literary, resp. aesthetic, value.

This article explores the names of Venus, Pleiades, the Great Bear and Orion’s Belt in Slavic translations of the biblical Book of Job. The author proposes hypotheses about the etymology of Church Slavonic names for the following celestial objects: (1) the name денница for Venus originates from folk cosmonymy and was introduced into religious discourse by Apostle of the Slavs Constantine-Cyril; (2) the name власожелищи is etymologised as a merger of two nominations: South Slavic Власи ‘Pleiads’ and a hapax legomenon from the Book of Job *желищи ‘Great Bear’, from Hebrew Āsh or Aish ‘funeral convoy’; (3) the name кружилия for Orion is also connected with Hebrew cosmonymy and points to the mythical giant Nimrod, who was tied with a belt to the sky for his rebellion against God.

The Bible says that "all authority comes from God." But what if the authority is corrupt and abusive? The author of the article analyses the duty to resist a corrupt authority when it threatens inalienable human rights, the common good or the sacredness of authority itself, for example a tyranny or an act of an usurpation. The author examines the conditions which must be fulfilled in order that such forms of resistance as: admonition, protest, rebellion (civic disobedience), strike and uprising can be legitimate. It is important to bear in mind the obligation to obey even a corrupt authority insofar as it can be objectively stated that it serves the common good.

Opis:
The author of the article analyses different meanings of the term ‘mercy’. He begins with the ancient use of the word by pagan philosophers. This is the background for the analysis of the term ‘mercy’ in the Old and New Testament. The biblical sources lead to the definition of dogmatic foundations of God’s Mercy and allow the ethical and moral aspects of the human mercy to be shown. Closely connected with the last is the social dimension of the mercy. The author also deals with other dimensions of the mercy, such as: pastoral, liturgical, psychological and juridical. He also discusses the meaning of the mercy in the spirituality and Christian art.

Opis:
Vulnerability is a form of passivity. This often precedes our actions and may precede it. Vulnerability is in the domain of the pathetic and the pathetic of vulnerability is a pre-philosophical, from which everything begins, this means that it is the soil of the disproportion of the experience by the finite and infinite polarity. As we will analyze, through the thought of Lévinas, the parable of Good Samaritan is the narrative of vulnerability. It is a living metaphor, which focuses on the Underdog on the Path and which is the «face of vulnerability».

Opis:
The humanization in health lives between the “responsibility of identity” (έρος), represented in the Priest and the Levite where there is concern for the Torah, according to the times of Christ, and the “responsibility of alterity” (agapic commitment) symbolized in the Samaritan. The true humanization resides in the paradigm of alterity, which has a metaphor in the Samaritan and is based on an “agapic responsibility” due to the “commotion of the viscera”. Both identity and otherness responsibility are experienced in “poietic responsibility”. One will be a “doing” in a commitment of interest (juridicalpolitical) and the other is summed up in the commitment of dis-interest and “forgetting oneself” (vergeben sich), inexorably giving oneself to the Destitute on the Path. Jesus, in the parable, did not reproach the Priest and the Levite, as they fulfilled and carried out the other face of “poietic responsibility” (acting with identity). But the Samaritan went further and, by carrying out the “agapic responsibility”, he elevated the poietic responsibility in its positive form to the sense of merciful “doing”.
