    Opis:
    The description and explanation of human behavior in behavioral psychology is conducted according to nonhuman animal model. This field of science is based on primary learning processes such as classical and operant conditioning, which were discovered due to research on animals. Therefore, many U.S. colleges and universities use animal laboratory experiments in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses of psychology. Decreasing public support for research on live animals, more strict regulations in animal laws and high laboratory maintaining costs caused that alternative ways to demonstrate students the rights of learning and shaping behavior were looked for. Due to the expand of personal computers, programs and virtual models simulating live animals behavior were developed. The most popular one and currently most accessible is „Sniffy, the virtual rat”. The paper discusses the possibility of using the program in teaching. Moreover, the results of two surveys on using live versus virtual animals in didactics of behavioral psychology, carried out among students, are presented and discussed.

    This article is to constitute the conclusion on the subject of the concept of behavioral sink and suicidal problems in the present times. For ages, people have occupied certain spaces and operate in their area. As communities, there are some cultural, economic and social systems. Thus they give shape to the spaces occupied - they form countries, regions, cities, villages and districts. All these territorial units, as well as architecture, houses, streets, public buildings and other elements of the landscape - constitute a socially created space. Researchers are trying to explain some issues through approaches in psychology: behavioral, humanistic, functional, cognitive or psychodynamic. Modernity is associated with many challenges of a psychological nature. Too many people in a territory cause many negative phenomena, including suicidal behavior. Due to the various models of interpretation of this phenomenon, the work is only a prelude to further theoretical and practical considerations in the field of behavioral sink.

    Attempting to increase the efficiency of capital investments, investors are looking for other methods, in addition to the classic approach, enabling them to achieve extra profits or avoid losses. This seems to be complemented by theories based on the description of irrational investors' behavior and the non-economic aspects of the functioning of the capital markets. This study shows main theories of behavioral finance that show irrational inwestors' behavior e.i.: prospect, regret theory and anchoring. There is also description of spread between individualism and conformity of investors that very offen takes place on capital markets.

    The article is based on Robert Kugelmann’s work, Psychology and Catholicism: Contested Boundaries. It examines the development of Catholic psychology as a history of defining boundaries within scientific empirical psychology from 1829 to the present. The author divides the historical period into three periods: One: Neoscholastic Rational Psychology (1829–1965); Two: After Vatican II Psychology (1965 to present); and Three: An Emerging Thomistic Rational Teleological Behavioral Psychology. The essay examines the development of Neoscholastic rational psychology as a response to modernist experimental psychology. The neoscholastic movement approached the new discipline of empirical, as opposed to rational, psychology with the firm conviction in the formulation of a meta-psychology, based on a Thomistic metaphysics that would allow for an eventual synthesis of rational and empirical psychology. However, a synthesis with empirical psychology never came to realization, mainly over the issue of the faculties of the soul as foundational for a science of human behavior. The author argues that, even to the present day, the best approach to entering into a trading zone (transitional genus) with the principles and methods of scientific psychology is by avoiding all expressions of past, present, and future introspective psychology and brain mentalism, and turning to a synthesis with teleological behavioral principles and Aristotelian-Thomistic faculties of the soul psychology.

    Behavioral economics is one of the sections of economy which is based on combining economics with other social sciences. It is the result of cooperation with psychologists, economists, and is responsible for analyzing human behavior in economic matters. One object of the research is the economic socialization − in Poland studied mainly by psychologists. In the text there can be found both the definition and brief description of the economic socialization. The author also introduces the concept of human capital and tries to point out the relationship that can occur between economic education and investment in human capital.

    Dla osiągnięcia długookresowego wzrostu kapitału wymagany jest trzeźwy osąd, który może zaburzać szereg podatności i efektów psychologicznych. Niniejszy artykuł ma charakter badawczy. Celem jest zidentyfikowanie subiektywnego stopnia ulegania wybranym efektom przy zawieraniu transakcji wśród polskich inwestorów oraz traderów giełdowych, a także ich profili. Szczególnie uwidoczniono podatność na działanie efektu dyspozycji w aspekcie przetrzymywania walorów przynoszących straty. Uzyskano potwierdzenie proponowanego w literaturze rozróżnienia traderów giełdowych ze względu na ich krótkookresowy horyzont transakcyjny. Prezentowane wyniki mogą stanowić głos w dyskusji co do różnic w zachowaniach giełdowych między odrębnymi grupami inwestorów indywidualnych, wskazując kierunek do dalszych badań oraz być wykorzystane przez domy maklerskie.
    In order to achieve long-term growth of capital, sober judgment is required. However, it might be disrupted by a number of vulnerabilities and psychological effects. The article has a research character. Its purpose is to identify the subjective degree of being yield to selected effects when entering into transactions among Polish investors and stock traders, as well as their personal profiles. The results of the study indicate that they are usually young people, in a subjectively good financial situation and with a higher degree. Their undergoing to the disposition effect in the aspect of ‘riding losers too long’ was notably visible. Proposed in the literature distinction of stock traders, due to their short term transaction horizon, was confirmed. Presented research may constitute a voice in the discourse about differences in stock behaviors between distinct groups of retail investors and point the direction of a further research. They also might be of use to brokerage houses.

    Motivation: Psychological aspects are a key element of choices made by consumers. Thus, Behavioral economics becomes one of the fastest-growing trends in contemporary economics. Aim: The aim of the review article is to identify the most important relationships that exist between economics and psychology and to point the key assumptions to understand consumer choices made on the market. Materials and methods: A method of critical analysis of the subject literature and observation of consumer behavior was used. Results: The conducted analysis indicates the existence of multifaceted factors that may influence consumer decisions and have consequences for households and their members.

Celem artykułu jest analiza problemu tworzenia się nauk z pogranicza ekonomii i psychologii pod względem przedmiotowym i metodologicznym. Przeprowadzone rozważania opierają się na badaniach z obszaru metodologii ekonomii, psychologii ekonomicznej, ekonomii behawioralnej i ekonomii eksperymentalnej. Dodatkowym walorem jest wykorzystanie w analizie wyników badań empirycznych, które dotyczyły badania relacji ekonomii i psychologii za pomocą wywiadów ze specjalistami i badań ankietowych. Słowa kluczowe: psychologia ekonomiczna, ekonomia psychologiczna, ekonomia behawioralna, ekonomia eksperymentalna, metodologia ekonomii, subdyscypliny ekonomiczne Współczesny rozwój dyscyplin naukowych jest uwarunkowany ich wzajemnym przenikaniem się i scalaniem wiedzy pochodzącej z różnych źródeł. Ograniczenia deskryptywne, eksplanacyjne i predykcyjne spowodowały, że coraz więcej badaczy podejmuje współpracę w interdyscyplinarnych i multidyscyplinarnych grupach roboczych, korzystając z pluralizmu metodologicznego.
    The primary function of economics, an interdisciplinary science, is to explain human action. This is not possible based solely on economic modeling. For this purpose, economics needs psychology and sociology. Thanks to such cooperation, economic subdisciplines arise. The aim of the article is to analyze the problem of the formation of sciences on the border of economics and psychology in terms of the subject and methodology. The considerations made are based on research in the area of economic methodology, economic psychology, behavioral economics, and experimental economics. An additional advantage is the use of the results of empirical research in the analysis of the relationship between economics and psychology by means of interviews with specialists and questionnaire research.

    Opis:
    There are two definitions of the term Virtual Reality (VR) according to the VR pioneer, Jaron Lanier. The first definition refers to the visual programming technology (especially in computer games) which uses custom designed tools (like helmets, gloves and glasses) combined with special effects in order to achieve an illusion of physical space. The second meaning of the term VR encompasses all the elements of the „alternative” reality of cyberspace in which people communicate by means of different electronic devices. As such, VR allows those who participate in these interactions to manipulate and multiply their digital selves to such an extent as to loose their actual sense of self. VR technologies are used in a variety of professional capacities such as education, medicine, engineering, architecture and so on. Some negative consequences occur primarily with the overuse of VR for entertainment purposes (such as computer games) and include personality and behavioral changes in younger, adolescent users. There are also larger cultural influences to consider. The mind of a modern user of new technologies cannot keep up with the pace of societal changes, promoting behaviors which hinder communication, mutual understanding and cooperation. VR continues to affect the emotional, behavioral and sensory aspects of the psyche. The invasive persuasion of media and advertising influences people’s habits, opinions and ethics. One of the most disturbing cultural changes is the confusion of public and private spheres, Facebook friends for family and the substitution of cyberspace for home life.

    Wstęp. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie badań potencjalnych determinant uzależnienia od gier internetowych. Materiał i metody. Badanie przeprowadzono wśród grupy 98 studentów kierunków architektura informacji (AI) oraz zarządzanie informacją i bibliologia (ZIB) na Uniwersytecie Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu. Sondaż wykonano skróconym Kwestionariuszem do Badania Uzależnienia od Gier Internetowych. Następnie wskazano, jaką rolę powinny pełnić biblioteki w obliczu tego problemu. Wyniki i wnioski. Studenci AI wykazują podobne zaangażowanie w granie jak studenci ZIB. 10 respondentów odczuwało silną potrzebę codziennego grania, a 3 studentki ZIB oraz 1 studentka AI mają zawsze lub często bezskuteczne próby poradzenia sobie z ograniczeniem czasu grania. Trzy z nich wymagają wsparcia profesjonalistów w tym zakresie. Oprócz tego, pewną rolę uzupełniającą wobec pracy terapeutów zajmujących się problemem uzależnienia, posiadają instytucje usługowe, działające w obszarach kultury i edukacji, w tym biblioteki.
    Introduction. The aim of the article is to present research on potential determinants of gaming disorder. Material and methods. The survey was conducted among a group of 98 students of information architecture (AI) and information management and bibliology (ZIB) in the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Next, role the libraries in facing the problem was shown. The study was carried out using a shortened Questionnaire for Internet Addiction Research. Results and conclusions. AI students show similar involvement in playing games as students of ZIB. 10 respondents felt a strong need to play every day, and 3 ZIB students and 1 AI student have always been or often are ineffective in coping with the problem of limiting their playing time. Three of them require the support of professionals in dealing with this.
