Apiculture is an integral part of agriculture, and bees take the fourth place with regard to farm animals of economic importance. Their role in pollinating plants is significant: 60 species of farm plants rely on pollinating, as well as 140 garden plants, which is equal to 80 percent of plant species grown in Poland. Economists estimate that the income achieved thanks to the pollinating job of bees stands between 4.1 and 7.4 billion zlotys. That is why it is so important to support this very branch of agriculture. The NIK’s audit covered the activities of the government administration related to effective support for apiculture, and to the implementation of the objectives and tasks included in assistance programmes.

The commonness of metal contamination, even at considerable distances from industrial centers and intensively used economic areas, has become the interest of many researchers. The issue of evaluating the state of the environment with the help of living organisms has become a very important part in the control of the natural environment. Honey bee (Apis mellifera L) is a good bioindicator as it is inextricably linked to the natural environment in which it lives. The aim of the research, and at the same time the main assumption of the study, was to evaluate the effectiveness of honeybees (Apis mellifera L) as bioindicators for the presence of Cu, Cr, Zn, Mn, Fe in the urban area (example of Bialystok city). The study includes pilot studies covering three sampling periods (March, June and September 2015). Analyses of metals were made by ASA method. The results showed the presence of Cu, Cr Zn, Mn and Fe in all bees samples. An increased content of Cr in bees was also found, which may be the result of the presence of this element in the environment (air, soil, water, plants, pollen) and in the impregnation agent applied to protect wooden elements of the bee hive. The research showed seasonal variation of metals in bees bodies. The main sources of studied metals in bee samples seem to be motorization, industry, and municipal economy within the urban area. Statistical calculations showed a common origin of majority of studied metals. Bee studies for metals contents can be an important element of a bio-monitoring of changing natural environment as a consequence of anthropogenic activity.

Opis:
Conducting apicultural activity in the European Union is currently seriously threatened due to the diverse factors of both socio-economic and environmental nature. The new regulation establishing the common organisation of agricultural markets has provided the opportunity to support the beekeepers primarily through the performance of national apiculture programmes financed by 50% of the EU budget. The aim of this article is to try to assess to what extent the legal instruments provided in this Regulation, firstly, support beekeepers in the European Union and, secondly, provide as an effective way of counteracting to the challenges facing the apiculture sector in the 21st century.
Prowadzenie działalności pszczelarskiej w Unii Europejskiej jest poważnie zagrożone ze względu na zróżnicowane czynniki o zarówno społeczno-gospodarczym, jak i przyrodniczym charakterze. Nowe rozporządzenie ustanawiające wspólną organizację rynków produktów rolnych ustanowiło możliwość udzielenia pomocy podmiotom pracującym w sektorze pszczelarskim głównie przez realizację krajowych programów wsparcia pszczelarstwa, finansowanych w 50% z budżetu unijnego. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba oceny, w jakim stopniu instrumenty prawne przewidziane w tym rozporządzeniu wspierają podmioty prowadzące działalność pszczelarską w Unii Europejskiej oraz czy stanowią skuteczną formę przeciwdziałania wyzwaniom zagrażającym funkcjonowaniu sektora pszczelarskiego w XXI w.

The bees algorithm from wider group of swarm algorithms, invented and implemented about 2005, seems to be a good candidate for next useful tool for combinatorial optimization. The purpose of previous study centered around introducing minerals into bee colonies was to observe the Varrosa destructor mites-repelling effect of minerals (“Pszczelarstwo” 6/2016). The results of research published so far confirmed the purpose of using minerals in the fight against Varroa infestation. This publication presents partial results of the next stage of research.
Wykonano eksperymentalne badania wykorzystania wybranych minerałów do walki z choroba pszczół – varrozą. Minerały mieszano z woskiem pszczelim formując woskowe węzy, które umieszczano w ramkach w ulach.. Stwierdzono, że węzy mineralne sprzyjają wyprowadzaniu varrozy z uli. Zaobserwowano także, że w węzach mineralnych prawidłowo rozwijają si® młode pszczoły oraz, że do uli z tymi węzami pszczoły znoszą do 30 % więcej miodu.

The article shows what role the writing instruments, in particular wax tablets, used by St. Cyril the Philosopher, could play in shaping the material form of Glagolitic writing. In this research approach, writing is treated not only as a system of abstract signs, but also as their factual figure formed by a tool on a writing material. In the case of the Glagolitic alphabet, its creation was therefore both a mental and physical process involving objects such as wax tablets. The ease of engraving the shapes of new letters on a soft surface and the possibility of repeatedly erasing them allowed Cyril to experiment with their forms without consuming valuable parchment. Therefore, this process depended mainly on the material properties of the wax produced by honeybees, which was used to cover the wooden tablets designed for writing with a stylus. In this way, these insects participated in the creation of the material dimension of Slavic writing, on a par with people who took the stick from them, choosing the wax from the hives to further process it. This proves that Cyril did not force the Glagolitic letters formed in his mind onto passive material, but that beeshaped, writing wax affordances actively cooperated in this process.

Opis:
Chitosan based hydrogels due to their specific properties and structure belong to the group of materials widely used in medicine. They are used as drug carriers with controlled release of active substances and in the preparation of innovative wound dressings. The main aim of the conducted research was the choice of the most favorable parameters for carrying the cross-linking reaction by means of UV radiation and microwaves. Subsequently, an adequate composition of the mixture containing chitosan and gelatin for further modification of such prepared the polymer matrix with Aloe vera extract was selected. Subsequently, an impact of introduction of Aloe vera extract into hydrogel on its physicochemical properties and structure was determined. The scope of the research included the measurement of swelling abilities of hydrogels in distilled water and selected simulated body fluids as well as incubation studies aimed at determination of tendency of prepared materials to degradation in previously mentioned fluids and their compatibility in relation to such environments. In order to characterize the chemical structure of the polymers and impact of incubation on this structure spectroscopic analysis was performed. Microscopic analysis was used to define the surface morphology of the hydrogels. Moreover, materials containing Aloe vera extract were subjected to the studies of release of additive from hydrogel matrix. Research was conducted both in acid and alkaline environment.

W artykule opisano konstrukcję systemu diagnostycznego, przeznaczonego do obserwacji zachowań pszczół. Główna część artykułu zawiera ocenę możliwości wydobycia informacji z dźwięków wytwarzanych przez pszczoły. Celem badań jest rozpoznanie stanów rodziny pszczelej oraz ich klasyfikacja. Opisano proces tworzenia modeli dźwięków oraz redukcji ich wymiarów. Przedstawiono obrazy otrzymane w diagnostycznej przestrzeni obserwacji stanów. W części końcowej opisano proces badania wybranego strumienia dźwięków i podjęto próbę interpretacji otrzymanych wyników.
The design of a diagnostic system to observe the behavior of bees is described. The main part of the paper contains an assessment of the possibility of extracting information from sounds produced by bees. The aim of the study is to identify the states of colonies and their classification. It describes the processes modeling the sounds and reducing their size. Experimental images created in the diagnostic state space are shown. Finally, the process of testing a selected stream of sounds is outlined and an attempt to interpret the results is made.

Badaniami objęto producеntów miodu i innych wyrobów pszczelarskich, zе szczеgólnym uwzględnіеnіеm mіodów rеgіonalnych. Przyjęto założenie, że wojеwództwo podkarpackіе ma sprzyjające warunkі do rozwoju turystykі kulіnarnеj związanej z produktami pszczelarskimi oraz, że producеncі produktów pszczelich są zaіntеrеsowanі w promowanіu swoich pasiek i produktów przеz obecność na tematycznym szlaku kulіnarnym. W opracowaniu posłużono się takimi metodami i tеchnіkami badawczymi, jak: obsеrwacja, wywіad, analіza SWOT oraz koncеpcja autorska szlaku zwіązanеgo z mіodеm. Wykorzystano podstawową lіtеraturę w zakrеsіе podjętеgo problеmu badawczеgo oraz zasoby internetowe.
The article presents author’s conception of culinary trail related to beekeeping households, honey and apiarian products. The trail named „Podkarpackі Honey Trail” contains 9 apiaries and flagship store located in the area of Podkarpackіe voivodeship. In the description of the trail the attention was paid on the main events related to honey as well as on natural and cultural values located on the trail and in the area. The intention of developing the culinary trail referring to honey was to enable tourists and visitors getting to know the tradition of beekeeping, hіstory and cultural customs of Podkarpackіe Province.

The aim of the carried out research was to assess atmospheric aerosol pollution levels in the area of three apiaries located in the Opole Province and to analyse heavy metals pollution in bee honey and western honey bees. Pleurozium schreberi moss was used in analysing atmospheric aerosol pollution with the active biomonitoring method, whereas heavy metals levels were determined with flame atomic absorption spectrometry method (F-AAS). Relative Accumulation Factors (RAF) were used in determining increases of analytes concentrations in the moss samples. As a result of the carried out study, the following conclusions have been reached: mosses are good bioindicators of environment pollution thanks to their sorption qualities, similarly to honey bees, which are a bioindicator of environment pollution. According to the Commission Regulation of European Union of 2015 regarding the maximum levels of lead in certain foods (honey), it should not exceed 0.1 mg/kg. On the basis of the carried out study it can be stated that the concentration of this analyte in the analysed honey was below the limit of quantification of the applied analytical method.

Pomimo niechlubnej reputacji hipokryzji, niektórzy badacze zwracają uwagę na to, że ma ona pozytywne strony. Służy jednoczeniu członków społeczeństwa o zróżnicowanych poglądach, wskazuje na aktualność i potrzebę wartości, a nawet uważa się ją za swego rodzaju cnotę w specyficznie pojętej etyce politycznej. Na udział hipokryzji w przetrwaniu społeczeństwa wskazywał również Barnard Mandeville, który poszedł śladami Françoisa de La Rochefoucaulda. W Mandeville’owskiej myśli obłuda obok innych przywar nie podlega jednoznacznej ocenie. Hipokryzja jest destruktywna jeśli szkodzi społeczeństwu, jeśli jednak jest odpowiednio wykorzystana, może okazać się doskonałym narzędziem w tworzeniu harmonijnej społeczności. W artykule przedstawiam poglądy Bernarda Mandeville’a na hipokryzję w powiązaniu z opiniami badaczy współczesnych. Wykazuję, że poglądy Mandeville’a na obłudę zawierają się w znanym pozornym paradoksie, zamieszczonym w podtytule Bajki o pszczołach – „prywatne przywary, korzyści publiczne”. Przedstawiam też ich ważność w kontekście współczesnych badań psychologii moralności.
Trotz des berüchtigten Rufs der Heuchelei weisen einige Forscher darauf hin, dass sie positive Seiten hat. Sie dient dazu, Mitglieder der Gesellschaft mit unterschiedlichen Ansichten zu vereinen, weist auf die Aktualität und das Bedürfnis nach Werten hin und betrachtet sie sogar als eine Art Tugend in einer spezifisch verstandenen politischen Ethik. Auf den Beitrag der Heuchelei zum Überleben der Gesellschaft wies auch Bernard Mandeville hin, der in die Fußstapfen von François de La Rochefoucauld trat. In Mandevilles Denken unterliegt Heuchelei neben anderen Lastern keiner eindeutigen Bewertung. Heuchelei ist destruktiv, wenn sie der Gesellschaft schadet, aber wenn sie richtig eingesetzt wird, kann sie ein hervorragendes Werkzeug sein, um eine harmonische Gemeinschaft zu schaffen. In dem Artikel stelle ich Bernard Mandevilles Ansichten über Heuchelei im Zusammenhang mit den Meinungen heutiger Forscher dar. Ich weise nach, dass Mandevilles Ansichten über Heuchelei in einem bekannten scheinbaren Paradox enthalten sind: im Untertitel der Bienenfabel über „private Laster, öffentliche Vorteile“. Ich stelle auch ihre Bedeutung im Kontext der gegenwärtigen Forschungen über die Moralpsychologie dar.
Despite its notoriety, some researchers point out that hypocrisy has positive sides. It serves to unite members of society with opposing views, highlights the topicality of and the need for values, and is even considered a kind of virtue in a specific political ethics. Bernard Mandeville, who followed in the footsteps of François de La Rochefoucauld, also pointed to the contribution of hypocrisy to the survival of society. In Mandeville’s thought, hypocrisy, along with other vices, is not unambiguously assessed. Hypocrisy is destructive if it harms society, but, used properly, it proves to be an excellent tool for creating a harmonious community. In my article, I will present Bernard Mandeville’s views on hypocrisy in relation to the views of contemporary researchers on the subject. I will show that Mandeville’s views on hypocrisy are encapsulated by the well-known apparent paradox in the subtitle of The Fable of the Bees  – “private vices, public benefits” – and I will present their significance for contemporary research in moral psychology.

W artykule przedstawiono sformułowany przez Bernarda Mandeville’a paradoks prywatnych przywar i korzyści publicznych, korzystając z jego poglądów na genezę społeczeństwa głównie na podstawie drugiego tomu Bajki o pszczołach i The Origin of Honour and the Usefulness of Christianity in War. Ewolucyjny proces rozwoju społeczeństwa ukazany w tekście różni się od poglądów prezentowanych przez autora w pierwszym tomie Bajki, kładzie bowiem nacisk na długotrwały i spontaniczny charakter postępu dokonanego przez ludzi o niewybitnych umysłach. W swoich rozważaniach Mandeville pozostaje przy kluczowym dla siebie temacie natury ludzkiej i istotności ludzkich przywar w poprawnym funkcjonowaniu grup społecznych. Kontynuuje dywagacje rozpoczęte w pierwszym tomie Bajki nad tym, kim człowiek w rzeczywistości jest. Temat powstania społeczeństwa wpisuje się w deklarowany przez niego cel, jakim jest sprawienie by ludzie lepiej rozumieli samych siebie.
The article presents the paradox of private vices and public benefits of Bernard Mandeville on the example of his views on the genesis of society, based mainly on the second volume of Fable of the Bees and The Origin of Honor and the Usefulness of Christianity in War. The evolutionary process of the development of society presented in the text differs from the views presented by the author in the first volume of The Fable, because it emphasizes the long-term and spontaneous nature of the progress made by people with unremarkable minds. In his deliberations, Mandeville remains on the key topic of human nature and the importance of human vices in the proper functioning of social groups. He continues the deliberations started in the first volume of Fable about who man really is. The theme of the emergence of society fits in with the declared goal of making people understand themselves better.

Opis:
This paper presents an application of the ant algorithm and bees algorithm in optimization of QAP problem as an example of NP-hard optimization problem. The experiments with two types of algorithms: the bees algorithm and the ant algorithm were performed for the test instances of the quadratic assignment problem from QAPLIB, designed by Burkard, Karisch and Rendl. On the basis of the experiments results, an influence of particular elements of algorithms, including neighbourhood size and neighbourhood search method, will be determined.
