The first autonomous car was developed in the 1980s, but it wasn't until the early 2010s that the technology began to gain significant attention and investment. In 2010, Google began testing self-driving cars on public roads, and since then, many other companies have joined the race to develop fully autonomous vehicles. Hybrid PVT (Photovoltaic Thermal) heat exchangers cooled with mini-channels find application in autonomous vehicles as a solution that enables efficient cooling of the vehicle's electronics and batteries. The solution involves using photovoltaic panels to generate electricity and removing the heat produced during the process using mini-channels is removed by mini-channels. Hybrid PVT heat exchangers cooled with mini-channels can help maintain appropriate temperatures inside autonomous vehicles that generate large amounts of heat from electronic systems and sensors. The setup can improve the performance and reliability of autonomous systems, increase energy efficiency, and reduce energy demands. The experimental setup includes two parallel mini-channel systems separated by a smooth copper plate. The study aims to determine local heat-transfer coefficients, with a cooled solar cell efficiency range of 10% to 14% compared to other research. The cooled PV temperature range achieved was from 19.6 to 22.4 degrees Celsius, which is favorable for photovoltaic panels' operation under approximate light intensity for Poland's latitude. Heat-transfer from hot surfaces to cold fluids is analyzed during single-phase convection using two calculation methods: one-dimensional and numerical simulations using Simcenter STAR CCM+. Cooling photovoltaic modules is critical for the photovoltaic and autonomous vehicle systems sector, making this research significant both theoretically and practically. The research and methods presented in the article on mini-channel cooling of photovoltaic systems and autonomous vehicle systems are innovative at a global scale, and are crucial for further development of sustainable energy systems and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

This article presents the results of work related to the power supply system for 10kW electric, rental go-kart. The research took into account a few types of battery cells. For the case study, the best option was chosen taking into account the restrictions included in the multicriteria analysis for further application. Chosen BLDC motor and battery type were tested on test stands and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink. Simulation model allowed to compare the characteristics from test stands and simulation and next tune the model. Minimum capacity of the batteries had to allow for at least 20 minutes of drive. Chosen elements: electric motor, motor controller, battery cells, BMS allowed to build the first prototype. Tests in real conditions showed the difference between simulation and research system. We could notice what to improve to tune the simulation model and the kart power supply system.

The article concerns the computational model for analysing the stability of the BEV LHD loader. Works were carried out to develop an innovative, light battery-powered loader, which was the subject of an R&D project implemented in cooperation with Bumech S. A. Compared to the existing solutions of loaders with similar load capacity, this one is distinguished by the use of an individual electric drive in each wheel and a replaceable battery. A physical and mathematical model was developed taking into account the specificity of the BEV LHD loader. In the model, the masses of the battery, individual drives, the platform and excavated material are taken into account separately. The developed model allows determining the loader wheel pressure on the floor, depending on the location of its components’ centres of gravity, the turning angle of the machine, the amount of excavated material in the bucket and the position of the bucket. The input parameters also include the longitudinal and transverse excavation slope angles. In addition, the model enables determining the inner and outer turning radius of the loader. To verify the theoretical model, dynamic simulation tests were carried out. The results of simulation analyses confirmed the correctness of the developed theoretical model. The model was used to prepare a calculation sheet for analysing the stability on the basis of the adopted parameters. In the article, selected results of the conducted stability analyses have been presented, along with the proposed parameters ensuring the loader’s stability. The developed theoretical model enables a quick assessment of the loader’s stability, which, due to a number of innovative solutions, differs from existing designs. The structure of the loader at the design stage is subject to numerous modifications, which affect the distribution of the centres of gravity of individual components. The developed model of the loader is a useful, parameterized tool that allows assessing the stability and the values of the turning radii of the machine.

This paper proposes an electromechanical transient method to build a battery energy storage system-based virtual synchronous generator model, suitable for a large-scale grid. This model consists of virtual synchronous generator control, system limitation and the model interface. The equations of a second-order synchronous machine, the characteristics of charging/discharging power, state of charge, operating efficiency, dead band and inverter limits are also considered. By equipping the energy storage converter into an approximate synchronous voltage source with an excitation system and speed regulation system, the necessary inertia and damping characteristics are provided for the renewable energy power system with low inertia and weak damping. Based on the node current injection method by the power system analysis software package (PSASP), the control model is built to study the influence of different energy storage systems. A study on the impact of renewable energy unit fluctuation on frequency and the active power of the IEEE 4-machine 2-area system is selected for simulation verification. Through reasonable control and flexible allocation of energy storage plants, a stable and friendly frequency environment can be created for power systems with high-penetration renewable energy.

The following paper presents a simulation model of a electric battery locomotive dedicated for mining. The mathematical models of a rail vehicle has been shown, with a analytical models describing an electric motor drive train, including battery system, traction and rolling losses. A set of key data for design and validation has been obtained in a simple drive cycle.

Battery electric buses (BEBs) are gaining ground in public transport, and the next decade is likely to witness a further increase in the numbers of these vehicles. The core problem of the BEB deployment process in public transport lies in how to deal with the technical limitations of this technology (primarily, a limited range of a bus). This paper outlines the model of vehicle cycle hierarchization dedicated to municipal transport planners and transit companies. The model is based on a multicriteria decision-making methodology that results in a hierarchy of vehicle cycles, ordered from the most to the least suitable to be operated by electric buses. The proof-of-principle demonstration of the model has been carried out in the Polish medium-sized city of Jaworzno.

Article presents the influence of battery capacity and electric generator power on a series hybrid vehicle range. Vehicles equipped with increased battery capacity and small power generator are special type of series hybrid vehicles called Extended Range Electric Vehicles – E-REV. The increasing number of hybrid and electric vehicles increases the demand for durable and efficient sources of energy storage for vehicles. The hybrid vehicle's battery driven range is increased as battery power density is increased and its cost is decreased. This is due to the battery cell cost decreasing and improvement of cell chemistry. That cause higher and higher distance driven on electric mode in hybrid vehicles. First series hybrid vehicle engine power was equal to engine powered the vehicle’s wheels. Nowadays, series hybrid vehicles are more electric vehicles with small power generator (piston or turbine engine. In such a constructions, battery is used as an energy buffer and combustion engine is used more as emergency power supply. To minimize this phenomenon, manufacturers use counteracting solutions that include mounting additional cells in the battery that are switched on when the battery controller identifies a particular battery cell’s failure or high degradation. This is due to the deep and shallow discharges of the battery, the numbers of charging and discharging cycles, and the age and technology of battery packs. AMESim software was used for the simulation of the E-REV hybrid vehicle range. The research was based on modelling the range of the vehicle with different battery capacity works with power generator of different power. By modelling different capacity of battery and power of small generator, it is possible to determine the vehicle range.

This article presents the influence of aging processes of the electric vehicle’s electrochemical battery. The increasing number of hybrid and electric vehicles increases the demand for durable and efficient sources of energy storage for vehicles. The vehicle's declared range is reduced over time. This is due to the aging of the battery that causes loss of its capacity and loss of its power. To minimize this phenomenon, manufacturers use counteracting solutions that include mounting additional cells in the battery that are switched on when the battery controller identifies a particular battery cell’s failure or high degradation. This is due to the deep and shallow discharges of the battery, the number of charge and discharge cycles, and the age and technology of battery packs. AMESim software was used for the simulation of the electric vehicle. The research was based on modelling the range of the vehicle whose cell capacity includes processes related to aging of the battery. An aging cell algorithm causes the capacity to drop and consequently reduces the range of one full charge. By modelling aging processes, it is possible to determine the battery’s probable capacity loss during vehicle use and to estimate how these processes affect the vehicle's range.

Opis:
Models of electrical energy storage devices – a battery and a supercapacitor – as well as models of motor and a control system, were used to feature the work of a hybrid electric drive system. The models were adapted to simulate driving with a given driving cycle, in a quasi-static method, with the use of MATLAB-Simulink software. The advantage of this method is that calculations can be done quickly and results can be easily compared. A battery model enables determining voltage and charge level in relation to load current and temperature. The basic parameter of a battery is a nominal capacity. It is a measure of energy stored in the battery, which can be absorbed within discharge time, in conditions of temperature and current. The energy can be absorbed until the minimal voltage is reached in the clips. The article presents simulation of calculations lead that the described electric drive model. The model makes it possible to analyse different concepts of steering the whole system already in the initial phase. In particular, the article presents PMSM model and trajectories of selected parameters during a trapezoidal driving cycle.

W pracy przedstawiono problematykę modelowania akumulatorów kwasowo-ołowiowych, wraz z opisem procesu estymacji parametrów modelu ekwiwalentnego. Omówiono także zagadnienia dotyczące analizy energochłonności pojazdów samochodowych. Przedstawiono przykładowe obliczenia dotyczące estymacji parametrów modelu i na ich podstawie dokonano szczegółowej analizy zachowania się akumulatora podczas jazdy samochodu elektrycznego. Badania przeprowadzono na podstawie zarejestrowanych prędkości pojazdu poruszającego się na terenie zabudowanym w okresie dużego natężenia ruchu. Dokonano oceny zachowania się akumulatora i zaproponowano zastosowanie hybrydowego magazynu energii zbudowanego z akumulatora i superkondensatora.
The paper presents the aspects related to the modelling of lead-acid batteries, including the description of the process of equivalent model parameter estimation. On top of this, the subject of the discussion included the issues which concern the analysis of vehicle energy consumption. The examples of calculations for the estimation of the model parameters were presented and on their basis, the detailed analysis of the battery’s behaviour while driving an electric vehicle was carried out. The tests were performed based on the recorded velocities of the vehicle moving within the built-up area in heavy traffic conditions. The behaviour of the battery was evaluated and the application of the hybrid energy storage consisting of battery and supercapacitor was proposed.

In this paper we present a study on Li-Ion Battery (LIB) modelling, including battery ageing profile, as a ground for development of state of health (SoH) prediction and monitoring system. An influence of LIB ageing was included by the mean of ageing module, based on voltage, resistance and capacity characteristics, resulting from preliminary experimental measurements. Our model, based on equivalent circuit model (ECM) and parameter estimation procedure, was implemented in MATLAB software and then validated. The simulation results are used for battery SoH estimation, which may be use in a future to optimize the conditions of LIB cycling and therefore extend the battery lifetime.
Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia badania nad stworzeniem modelu baterii litowo-jonowej, uwzględniającego procesy starzenia baterii, jako podstawę do budowy systemu monitorowania stanu baterii. Wpływ procesów starzenia został uwzględniony za pomocą specjalnego modułu, zdefiniowanego przy pomocy parametrów (tj. charakterystyki napięciowe, impedancyjne, pojemnościowe) uzyskanych na drodze pomiarów eksperymentalnych. Opracowany model, oparty na równoważnym dwugałęziowym modelu elektrycznym RC, został zaimplementowany w środowisku MATLAB, a następnie poddany walidacji. Wyniki przeprowadzonych symulacji wykorzystano do opracowania algorytmu estymacji stanu baterii, który w przyszłości może posłużyć do optymalizacji warunków pracy ogniw litowo-jonowych.

W artykule omówiony został problem zastosowania akumulatora litowo-siarkowych do rozruchu silnika spalinowego stosowanego w samochodzie osobowym. Dokonano przeglądu istniejących rozwiązań elektrod wykorzystywanych w tego typu akumulatorach. Przedstawiono budowę i działanie ogniwa litowo-siarkowego. Przedstawiono model matematyczny obciążenia akumulatora i wyniki obliczeń. W podsumowaniu zamieszczono uwagi, co do możliwości zastosowania tego typu akumulatorów do uruchamiania samochodowych silników spalinowych.
Paper discussed the problem of the use the lithium-sulfur battery to start the combustion engine used in the car. A review of existing solutions for electrodes used in this type of battery was made. It was shown the design and operation of a lithium-sulfur battery. A mathematical model for the battery loading and calculation results were presented. The summary contains comments for the applicability of this type of battery to start automobile engines.

Article presents verification of LiFePO4 battery simulation model. Verification of battery model was made to assure real parameters of battery cells used for simulation. Simulation model of battery and test stand, similar to the stand used for test on a real battery, was designed in AMESim software. Data of the battery and single cell of battery characteristics were verified to assure true parameters for further tests of power transmission system of the vehicle. For verification theoretical model of the battery, real tests of battery discharging were performed in laboratory. Test stand used for battery discharging was build. Test stand was equipped in water resistor enable to set up various loads of battery. Electrical parameters of battery and battery cell were collected by voltage probes and current clamps and stored in database. Test was performed in similar condition, each time starting with fully loaded battery. Tests ends when battery management system shut down battery main switch. Tests conditions, virtual and real, were performed during similar battery load. Comparing data from unloading tests in laboratory enable to verify data of battery and battery cells designed in AMESim software. Such verification provide reliable model of the used battery. Model of the battery can be used in further simulation test of vehicle, where battery is installed.

Opis:
The paper deals with the modeling and fault-tolerant control of a real battery assembly system which is under implementation at the RAFI GmbH company (one of the leading electronic manufacturing service providers in Germany). To model and control the battery assembly system, a unified max-plus algebra and model predictive control framework is introduced. Subsequently, the control strategy is enhanced with fault-tolerance features that increase the overall performance of the production system being considered. In particular, it enables tolerating (up to some degree) mobile robot, processing and transportation faults. The paper discusses also robustness issues, which are inevitable in real production systems. As a result, a novel robust predictive fault-tolerant strategy is developed that is applied to the battery assembly system. The last part of the paper shows illustrative examples, which clearly exhibit the performance of the proposed approach.

Opis:
W artykule poddano analizie dwuczynnikowy matematyczny model regresyjny. Opisano sposób badania istotności zmiennych niezależnych na wartość napięcia mierzonego na zaciskach obciążonego akumulatora. Przedstawiono sposób postępowania podczas planowania doświadczenia umożliwiającego wyznaczenie współczynników modelu regresyjnego. Podjęto próbę jego weryfikacji wykorzystując wyznaczony model regresji. Wykazano, że odpowiednio zaplanowany eksperyment pozwala na znaczne ograniczenie czasu pracy niezbędnego do przeprowadzenia badań prowadzących do wyznaczenia współczynników modelu liniowego opisującego związki między zmiennymi, głównie poprzez ograniczenie do minimum liczby niezbędnych pomiarów (doświadczeń). Wykazano także, że mimo ograniczonej liczby doświadczeń zachowana jest liniowa struktura wyznaczonego modelu.
There is presented the analysis of the two-factor mathematical regression model. The method of testing the significance of the independent variables on the voltage measures at the terminals of the battery load is described. There is shown the procedure of expertise planning to appointment of the regression model coefficients. An attempt of model verification was made using the designation regression model. It is shown that an appropriately planned experiment allows a significant reduction in working time necessary to performing the research leading to determine coefficients of the linear model describing the relationships between variables, mainly by minimizing the number of necessary measurements (experience). It was also shown that despite a limited number of experiments is preserved the linear structure of the designated model.
