Opis:
Power cartridges are gas generators utilised to drive a liquid projectile for disruption of suspect improvised explosive devices (IED’s). The purpose of a water-jet disruptor is to destroy the suspected IED. A novel method was devised for pressure measurement at the exit of the cartridge for launching liquid projectile. An experimental test set-up was designed and fabricated for measurement of projectile velocity and the propellant gas pressure in a velocity test rig (VTR). In these experiments, double base propellants having different physical and chemical properties were utilised to drive the solid projectile. This projectile was made of nylon material. This projectile velocity measurement is an important parameter in the armament field. An experimental study is the unique design feature. It is responsible for the measurement of pressure at the exit of the cartridge and the projectile velocity at the muzzle end of the barrel. The projectile velocity was measured using high speed photography. The pressure was measured using a pressure sensor. The maximum projectile velocities for spherical ball powder and NGB 051 propellants have been experimentally measured as 384.23 m/s and 418.32 m/s, respectively. Experimentally the maximum pressures for spherical ball powder and NGB 051 propellants have been evaluated as 50.12 MPa and 63 MPa respectively from data gathered by the acquisition system. The standard deviation between the experimental and theoretical values for the projectile velocity varied from 12.57 to 13.88 for spherical ball powder whereas it was 5.33 to 7.09 for NGB 051 propellant. The percentage error between the experimental and the theoretical values of the projectile velocity was less than 10 for both propellants.

Opis:
The comparative study of the acid-base balance (ABB) parameters has been performed on 20 clinically healthy mature Małopolski horses. An arterial blood sample from the facial artery and a sample of venous blood from the external cervical vein were colected from each animal. In the samples tested, the blood pH, pCO₂, tCO₂, HCO₃-, concentration of Na+, K+, Cl-, and a value of the anion gap were determined. The difference among pCO₂, tCO₂, and HCO₃ - in both samples tested was statistically significant, whereas the pH of the arterial blood and the pH of the venous blood did not differ significantly. The anion gap in both types of blood did not differ significantly. Conclusions: 1) ABB parameters such as pCO₂, HCO₃-, and tCO₂ determined in the arterial and venous blood of the Małopolski horses differ from each other significantly. 2) In spite of the lack of the differences between pH of the arterial and venous blood, the ABB parameters in horses should be determined in the arterial blood, because the comparative study performed proves that the analysis of the ABB parameters determined for the venous blood of a healthy horse may lead to a wrong diagnosis of the compensated respiratory acidosis. 3) The mean value of anion gap in horses aged 8-12 years amounts to 20.9 mmol/l for the arterial blood and 19.93 for the venous blood; the difference between the two values is not statistically significant.

Opis:
The current research focuses on the implementation of the fuzzy logic approach for the prediction of base pressure as a function of the input parameters. The relationship of base pressure (β ) with input parameters, namely, Mach number (M), nozzle pressure ratio (η), area ratio (α), length to diameter ratio (ξ ), and jet control (ϑ ) is analyzed. The precise fuzzy modeling approach based on Takagi and Sugeno’s fuzzy system has been used along with linear and non-linear type membership functions (MFs), to evaluate the effectiveness of the developed model. Additionally, the generated models were tested with 20 test cases that were different from the training data. The proposed fuzzy logic method removes the requirement for several trials to determine the most critical input parameters. This will expedite and minimize the expense of experiments. The findings indicate that the developed model can generate accurate predictions

Opis:
Pressure die casting has become the next area of experimentation on virtual models in computer memory. The article presents an attempt to optimize the manufacturing process of an item made of magnesium AZ91D alloy, which was cast using the pressure technology on a machine with a hot pressing chamber. Special attention was paid to the flow velocity in individual parts of the gating system and in the mould cavity, as well as to the air evacuation from the mould cavity. The aim was to achieve a flawless casting, especially in terms of porosity.

Opis:
The exploitation of natural gas fields from Transylvanian Basin started a century ago. The majority of these fields were discovered and developed in the last century, from the 1920s through the 1980s. So, these reservoirs have almost 100 years of production historical. Even if at their discovery, the initial reservoir pressures were relative high (around 100-150 bar), nowadays these mature gas fields have a very low reservoir pressure. For some of these reservoirs the pressure is 10-20 of initial values. With the rehabilitation projects ongoing, and where the challenge is to maintain or even better to increase by just a little the base production, the greatest challenge is to make certain interventions in depleted reservoirs wells. At the beginning it was not a problem to do workover for these wells because the completion fluids were lost in the reservoir and the reservoir pressures helped the wells to clean up. Now, because of the low reservoir pressures, after the interventions it would take a long time for the wells to be cleaned, or in the worst cases the wells could be abandoned. From time to time, some net pays have to be bypassed because the fluid can be lost in the reservoir. So the best method is to do workovers jobs in these wells underbalance or even with live well, and interventions using snnubing unit or the coiled tubing unit. This paper presents some of the technologies used by Romgaz to accomplish this goal and also some case studies from different types of interventions in these gas wells.
