The paper examines emotional communities in early modern English drama, specifically interludes by John Heywood and John Bale. It explores the connections between emotion and religion, and seeks to uncover whether and how emotionality changes according to the politically acceptable religious doctrine – particularly in the time of Protestant reformation under Henry VIII Tudor – and how these changes are expressed in the early sixteenth century English interludes by a Catholic (Heywood) and a Protestant (Bale) author. This paper considers early modern texts of culture which have not been researched as broadly as the drama of the later English Renaissance period (such as works by William Shakespeare or Christopher Marlowe), and, drawing upon the concept of “emotional communities” introduced by Barbara Rosenwein, additionally offers insights into an ongoing discussion on emotions in history.

The cause of the histological damage of Faunus ater (gastropod mollusk) gonad has been identified in the samples from two rivers, namely Bale River and Reuleng River which flow through residential, agricultural and industrial areas. The heavy metal concentration within the tissue of Faunus ater was analyzed with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (Shimadzu AA 630). Meanwhile, the histological damage on gonads was observed microscopically. Afterwards, the damage levels obtained from the two respective rivers were compared and analyzed with t-test. The results confirm the histological damage that occurred in the gonads of Faunus ater collected from the two rivers. The gonadal damage of female Faunus ater from both rivers was found not to be significantly different, observed by the number of developed and damaged oocytes. It was also found that the gonads of male Faunus ater collected from Bale Riverl, have higher quantity of spermatogenic cells, in which they experience greater necrosis than the ones from Reuleng River.

The paper describes two optimization problems for minimization of the consumption of the stretch foil (film) used for wrapping bales to impart bale stability. The first problem consists in the optimal design of foil width. The foil consumption per unit of the bale volume index is used as a measure of foil expenditure. In the second problem a fixed volume of the bale silage must be optimally wrapped by stretch foil and the optimal bale dimensions (diameter, height) are sought out. Mechanical properties of the sealing foil characterized by its Poisson ratio are taken into account. The paper presents optimal and suboptimal solutions to both the problems. The formulas for computing optimal and near-optimal foil width and bale size dimensions are given and estimations of the solution errors are discussed. Simulation results are presented and analyzed for exemplary bale silage.

Aspects of mathematical modelling of wrapping round (i.e. cylindrical) bale related to the optimization of foil consumption are considered for individual bales of agricultural materials wrapped in plastic foil. The article details the mathematical description of bale wrapping, while also identifying both some solved problems and a few open ones, which can be solved to optimize the foil consumption. Mechanical properties of the sealing foil characterized by its Poisson ratio, arbitrary foil and bale size dimensions and overlapping width of subsequent wrapped foil strips were taken into account. After providing a basic understanding of how the foil is consumed in the course of wrapping process, the mathematical model for determining the number of entire foil wrappings is determined. Next the results of mathematical analysis are used for optimization purposes. The foil consumption per unit of the bale volume index is used as a measure of foil expenditure. Two problems of foil consumption optimization are stated and solved. The formulas for computing the optimal foil width and optimal bale size dimensions are derived and estimations of the solution errors are given. Computational results are presented and analyzed for exemplary bale silage.

Opis:
Waste tyre-derived products, including whole tyres, tyre bales, shreds, chips and crumb rubber, have been widely used in geotechnical applications. In particular, tyre bales have considerable potential for use in the construction of a lightweight embankment or road foundation over soft ground, slope stabilisation or landslide repairs and the backfilling for retaining structures. Proper design of tyre bale structures requires a reliable strength analysis to ensure an adequate factor of safety. The analysis should utilise the properties of the tyre bales and the baled structures, which must be properly determined. A laboratory test programme was developed to determine the key strength parameters of a backfill made of tyre bales supplemented with a lightweight aggregate. Full-scale direct shear tests were conducted to define the interface shear strength between the tyre bales and the filling material. Earth pressure reduction analysis based on the experimental results was performed as well to assess the effectiveness of waste tyre bales used as a backfill for rigid retaining structures.

Calculation examples have been provided. Conclusions and suggestions resulting from the obtained simulation results have been formulated.

The aim of the study was to determine changes in nitrogen fractions during the ensiling of lucerne and red clover herbage in bales. Protein nitrogen and non-protein nitrogen compounds in herbage and silage were distinguished. Furthermore, buffer soluble nitrogen compounds (BSN) were determined and divided into buffer soluble protein and non-protein nitrogen (BSPN and NPBSN, respectively). In addition, peptide nitrogen and amino acid nitrogen were distinguished within the NPBSN fraction, while nitrogen compounds were divided into those of low solubility (NDIN) and completely insoluble (ADIN). The research findings confirmed the effect of a legume plant species on changes in the content of nitrogen fractions during the ensiling in round bales. The ensiling of lucerne herbage grossly decreased the protein nitrogen fraction while raising the total soluble fraction of nitrogen. Nitrogen in the form of soluble proteins, NDIN and ADIN was the least affected. The study demonstrated a different response of the two legume plant species to ensiling with respect to all fractions. A high proportion of protein nitrogen in round bale wilted red clover silage was accompanied by a large contribution of insoluble nitrogen fractions. A large share of the protein nitrogen fraction in red clover silage does not necessarily mean a higher nutritional value of the protein because it may contain a large amount of protein compounds that are non-hydrolysable by bacterial and intestinal enzymes.

It was pointed out to the lack of technology of ensilage of brewer's distillers, for small and medium agricultural farms ensuring high quality of fodder, close to the quality achieved in long foil reactors. There was presented a general concept of technology of ensilage of brewer's spent grains, in the form of cylindrical bales wrapped in foil.
