Artykuł przedstawia studium przeanalizowanych przypadków uszkodzeń eksploatacyjnych osi kolejowych, które były przyczyną wykolejenia taboru. Jako przykład posłużą przypadki ukręcenia czopa osi oraz pęknięcia czopa osi w wagonach towarowych. Oba analizowane przypadki dotyczą wyrobów wykonanych ze stali konstrukcyjnej i eksploatowanych przez dziesięciolecia w wagonach towarowych. Zakres badań obejmował sprawdzenie własności materiałowych, oględziny przełomów i symulacje naprężeń w materiale oraz ciągu przyczyno-skutkowego doprowadzającego do wystąpienia incydentów. Przedstawiony materiał może być wykorzystywany w celu zwiększania świadomości i podnoszenia kompetencji personelu operacyjnego zatrudnionego w podmiotach odpowiedzialnych za utrzymanie (ECM).
The article presents a study of analyzed cases of operational damages of the railway axles, which caused the derailment of the rolling stock. A case of twisting the axle journal and cracking the axle journal in freight wagons will be presented as an example. Both considered cases concern samples that have been in operation for decades and are made of unalloyed steel commonly used at this time. The scope of the tests included verification of the material properties, inspection of fractures, MES simulations, and description of the cause-effect sequence leading to the incidents. The presented material can be used to raise awareness and improve the competence of operational staff employed in the entities in charge of maintenance (ECM).

The article presents a conception of manufacturing a hollow axle using three skewed rolls moving at the same rotating speed, axially moving chuck and a moving mandrel. The outer shape of the axle is obtained as a result of combining the radial feed of the rolls with axial feed of the chuck. The hole in the axle, however, is obtained as a result of the mandrel acting on the workpiece while moving along with it. In order to assess the correctness of the presented concept of forming, a numerical simulation was performed in Simufact.Forming commercial software. The results of the simulation confirmed that the applied method allows one to manufacture large-size hollow axles. Moreover, information on force parameters of the forming process, which can be used for designing an industrial rolling mill was obtained.

Artykuł opisuje problemy związane z kompatybilnością elektromagnetyczną kolejowych pojazdów trakcyjnych z urządzeniami wykrywania pociągu. Omówiono źródła zakłóceń urządzeń detekcji pociągu. The sources of interference of train detection systems and methods for testing the sensitivity of axle counters was discussed. Article describes how to determine permissible interference limits for these devices and presents them in selected frequency band.

The paper deals with the concept of solid railway axle rolling using tools (rolls) in which the forming zones of individual workpiece steps are separated. Two types of tools were analysed, which were characterised by flat (typical solution) and convex (novel solution) forming surfaces of the wedge. Using the software Forge® NxT, simulations were performed of the rolling processes of the rail axle. Distributions of temperature, damage function, effective strain as well as force and torque courses were analysed. The results showed that it is possible to produce solid railway axles using the CWR method and confirmed the use of tools with a convex forming surface.

While optimizing tolerances in tolerance chains only single characteristics or objectives of single process steps are considered, there is no information exchange across all processes. Interdependencies between processes, materials, means of production and individuals acting in this environment as well as their effect on product variations are usually not fully understood. In order to face a dynamisation of process specification, interdependencies have to be identified and integrated in future production. The holistic consideration of the process chain focused on the allocation of tolerances allows detection of correlations and interdependencies in the production process itself. By this, process chain information is traced back to conduct the right optimizations at the right place in the process chain. But therefore intelligent controlling mechanisms are needed to analyze and optimize even complex production systems with multi-level interdependencies. Such a cognitive system is able to form the core of self-optimizing production system. Using this cognitive system, the production process of an automotive rear-axle drive is optimized in order to minimize disturbances created by structure-borne sound emissions. Therefore several cognitive technologies have been evaluated to fulfil specific tasks in process optimization.

The safe and stable control ofa vehicle undoubtedly belongs to one of the most important requirements that relate to the vehicle 's design and operation. Consequently, in the near future, so called steer-by-wire systems could become the next stage in the control system development. A number of new, modern vehicles presented by car makers at important car shows definitely show how topical the issue is. If we want to create a design for this steering system, we have to know the action offorce very well. An experimental laboratory establishment for measuring and optimizing the steering system of vehicles was developed in our centre. The testing equipment is made of aluminium sections enabling the equipment to be quickly adapted to various vehicles ' axles and tyres. An exchangeable mat located under a tyre enables the system to create behaviour simulation for various surfaces with a different coefficient of adhesion. A sliding way assisted by a hydraulic jack under a tyre allows a change in axle load for example in accordance with the vehicle 's occupancy. A force sensor will be positioned between the jack and the mat to monitor the load adjustment. The Technical University of Liberec, Department of Vehicles and Engines, has developed a design of a testing bench which would enable the testing of directional control systems. The objective of the newly designed equipment is to incorporate a real tyre as well as aflexible mounting of the axle components into the tested system. Future of car s will be connected with systems of type steer by wire. This system need to be testing on the testing bench before real test in the car. One method for assessing can be investigation control deviation during test VDA ISO TR3888. The paper will describe measurement of the real car with conventional directional control during test VDA ISO TR3888 and simulation of the system steer by wire on the testing bench. The experimental steer by wire system forms hydraulic circuit with two double-acting hydraulic cylinders with a unilateral piston rod and two proportional valves Parker D1FP. Every wheel front of axle is control alone. The PID regulators were usedfor control of the positioning action. In particular, the testing bench for the testing of steering at zero angular speed of wheels, VDA ISO TR 3888 tests on the testing bench are presented in the paper.

The paper describes a new method for producing stepped rail axles. The method is based on the skew rolling process. With this method, the product is formed by three tapered rolls located every 120° on the perimeter of the billet. Positioned askew to the centerline of the billet, the rolls rotate in the same direction and with the same velocity. At the same time, they get closer together or go apart depending on the desired cross sectional reduction of an axle step. In addition, the workpiece is shifted lengthwise relative to the rolls by the translational motion of the workpiece-holding chuck. In order to verify the designed method for producing rail axles, a series of numerical simulations were performed using the Simufact. Forming v.12 simulation software. The numerical modeling enabled the determination of maps of the effective strain and temperature in the finished product as well as variations in the loads and torques during rolling. The numerical results unambiguously confirm that the skew rolling method can be applied to form parts of considerable dimensions (the modeled axles had a length of 2146 mm and their maximum diameter was 202 mm).
W artykule opisano metodę wytwarzania stopniowanej osi wagonowej bazującą na procesie walcowania skośnego. W metodzie tej wyrób kształtowany jest za pomocą trzech rolek stożkowych, rozmieszczonych na obwodzie wsadu co 120°. Rolki te ustawione są skośnie względem osi wsadu, a w trakcie kształtowania obracają się z jednakową prędkością w tę sa-mą stronę oraz jednocześnie zsuwają lub rozsuwają się - w zależności od redukcji przekroju poprzecznego kształtowanego stopnia osi. Dodatkowo, wyrób kształtowany przesuwany jest wzdłużnie względem rolek, w wyniku ruchu postępowego uchwytu utwierdzającego jeden z jego końców. Sprawdzenia poprawności założonej koncepcji kształtowania osi wagonowej dokonano w drodze symulacji numerycznej wykonanej w programie Simufact. Forming v.12. W efekcie wykonanych obliczeń uzyskano mapy intensywności odkształcenia i temperatury w ukształtowanym wyrobie oraz wyznaczono przebiegi sił i momentów w trakcie walcowania. Jednoznacznie potwierdzono możliwość kształtowania wyrobów o dużych gabarytach (długość osi wynosi 2146 mm, a jej średnica maksymalna 202 mm) metodą walcowania skośnego.

The methodology of measuring the vibration signal recorded on the casing of wheeled armoured vehicle ROSOMAK driving axis is presented. The study was performed on a test bench for different transmission conditions. A preliminary analysis of the frequency spectra vibration signals recorded. The test stand allows investigation of the differential axle gears under load similar to load during duty operation. It was possible by using the combustion engine and gearboxes and load transmission by using the dynamometer break. Have been described. Three methods of attaching acceleration sensors to differential gears: using screws, magnetic washers and probe handle. The results of comparisons of measurement results obtained using these methods. Finally, the sensors was mount by using the screw connections. Selected positions and points of temperature and vibration measures were described. Values of characteristic frequencies of differential axle gears vibration by moving the drive torque through these boxes were calculated. The spectra of the vibration signal determined during testing gearboxes were shown. It was state that of amplitude-frequency vibration spectra of signals recorded at selected points of differential axle gears casing are clearly visible characteristic frequencies but the vibration the bridge gear unit bridges distorted by vibration of the internal combustion engine and gearboxes. In a further stage of research should be included much larger number of the driving axis differentials investigated in various states of well-known technical conditions and should be lead accord to requirements of the active diagnostic experiment.

The production of automotive rear-axle drives is a complex process. This is due to many involved process steps, factors and interdependencies between processes, materials, means of production and individuals acting in this environment. In general their effect on product variations is not fully comprehended. Hence, a holistic analytical model is only possible in parts of the production. In this paper a modular approach is presented to make the production more flexible and enable it to react faster on product variations. This is achieved by a Cognitive Production System (CPS), which is based on accumulating, storing and processing of process knowledge so that it can be applied to similar cases. Through the combination and interaction of Cognitive Tolerance Matching (CTM) and Agent-based Systems the performance of the CPS is enhanced. The work discusses the set-up of such a CPS for the production of automotive rear-axle-drives with the focus on the failure state agent.

Nowadays, trucks are widely used in the freight transport. Every accident involving a truck as well as any longer disruption of its traffic flow causes great losses. The considered disturbance in traffic flow occurred for a truck with dual tires on its rear axle resulted from the damage to the power transmission system from the engine to the drive wheels of the track. Investigating the cause of one such damage, in the form of rupture of the rear driveshaft, was the purpose of this article. The parameters of the analyzed truck, its wheels, its engine characteristics, the scheme of its cornering, the model of its rear-axle shaft, and the model of loading the bearing set of its rear dual wheel were included in the paper. Additionally, the probable cause of the truck rear axle shaft breakage was established.

The article observes problems of detection of rolling bearing damages in rail vehicles. Two methods of bearing damage detection are examined – according to heating of axleboxes and by vibro-diagnostic manner. The disadvantage of vibro-diagnostic method is that a contact vibration sensor is used for vibration diagnostics, intervention into rail vehicle structure is required. The method according to heating of axle-boxes also has drawbacks. The same temperature value of axle-box in various conditions may characterize different bearing technical state. The Authors studied a possibility to use temperature change intensity parameters as the diagnostics criteria. Based on the examples of axle-box temperature measurement data, Authors developed and proposed a methodology for detecting axle-box bearings defects. The Authors suggest the use the method according to heating of axle-boxes. The given example proofs that the fact of the presence of their damages can be unambiguously identified by the intensity of temperature change of the axle-boxes.

W opracowaniu omówiono genezę problemu nadmiernych oddziaływań na tory wybranych polskich lokomotyw 4-ro i 6-cio osiowych, opisano oraz zestawiono listę parametrów mających istotny wpływ na to zjawisko. Niektóre z tych parametrów mają istotne znaczenie podczas szybkiej jazdy na odcinkach prostych, a inne na łukach torowych o małych promieniach. Przedstawiono też zakresy tych parametrów konieczne do uzyskania znaczącej poprawy właściwości biegowych w ramach przewidywanych lub przeprowadzonych w ostatnim czasie modernizacji lokomotyw o dużym znaczeniu gospodarczym dla Polski.
This paper discusses the genesis of the problem of excessive impacts on the tracks of selected Polish 4- and 6- axle locomotives. The list of parameters that have a significant impact on this phenomenon is described and drawn up. Some of these parameters are important during the fast running on the straight sections, and the other on the track curves with small radius. It is also presented the ranges of these parameters necessary to achieve a significant improvement of the running characteristics within the expected or carried out modernizations of locomotives with the great economic importance for the Polish.

In round wood transport, high variability of transported assortments, made of different tree species, and variability of wood moisture content do not allow to clearly determine the weight of transported raw material. This affects the exceeding gross vehicle weight (GVW) of the transport unit above the legal limit. With significant GVW exceeding, forest roads are exposed to high tonnage vehicles, which results in vehicle axle loads above the accepted design parameters for the pavement and cause faster degradation of the forest roads. The purpose of this study was to investigate the real axle loads of roundwood transport vehicles arising from the gross vehicle weight (GVW) of the transport unit in different seasons of the year and depending on the type of transport set and the type of wood assortments. Measurements of axle loads for round wood truck transport units were carried out on the sites of three large wood industry companies from the north of Poland, which process different types of wood. The load on the individual axles of high tonnage truck units was measured using Model DINI ARGEO WWSD portable truck scales with a 3590M309 weighing terminal with 0.01 t graduation. In total, measurements were taken for 904 round wood deliveries, made by different transport units. Dominated was truck and trailer set with 473 deliveries, including 344 deliveries by six-axle sets. The second most frequently observed was truck and semi-trailer, 334 deliveries, where 193 was made by six-axle sets. There is a decrease in the use of truck and dolly and truck and lightweight semi-trailer combinations, which were five-axle combinations, for round wood deliveries. The lowest axle load for all sets occurs on axle one in the range of average values of 7.07-7.86t with a spread of results from 4.49 to 10.20t. The highest average axle loads of 9.15-12.43t were found on axle two for all observed transport sets, where a maximum value of 14.52t was also found. There were statistically significant differences in the values of loads on individual axles depending on the type of truck unit, type of wood assortment and delivery date. The distribution of the total gross vehicle weight of the set is on average 58-60% to the truck (three axles) and 40-42% to the trailer/semi-trailer (two axles) in five-axle sets, and in six-axle sets the truck and trailer/semi-trailer (three axles).
