Numerical simulation provides a valuable assistance in the controlling of forming processes. The elasto-plastic orthotropic constitutive law is based on the choice of an equivalent stress, a hardening law and a plastic potential. An identification of the model parameters from an experimental database is developed. This database consists in hardening curves and Lankford coefficients of specimens subjected to off-axis tensile tests. The proposed identification strategy is applied to aluminum sheets. The behavior of this material is studied under several solicitations. The anisotropic behavior of the aluminum plate is modeled using the Barlat criterionand the hardening law. The obtained Lankford coefficients are compared to those which are identified by a different strategy.

Opis:
Alternative splicing of mRNA is one of the most important mechanisms responsible for an increase of the genomic capacity. Thus the majority of human proteins including G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) possess several isoforms as a result of mRNA splicing. The corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) and its receptors are the most proximal elements of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA) - the central machinery of stress response. Moreover, expression of CRF and regulated activity of CRF receptor type 1 (CRF1) can also play an important role in regulation of local stress response in peripheral tissues including skin, gastrointestinal tract or reproductive system. In humans, expression of at least eight variants of CRF1 mRNA (α, β, c, d, e, f, g and h) was detected and alternative splicing was found to be regulated by diverse physiological and pathological factors including: growth conditions, onset of labor, during pregnancy or exposure to ultraviolet irradiation. The pattern of expression of CRF1 isoforms is cell type specific and recently has been linked to observed differences in responsiveness to CRF stimulation. In the proposed model of regulation of CRF-signaling, isoform CRF1α plays a central role. Other isoforms modulate its activity by oligomerization, leading to alteration in receptor trafficking, localization and function. Co-expression of CRF1 isoforms modulates sensitivity of cells to the ligands and influences downstream coupling to G-proteins. The other possible regulatory mechanisms include fast mRNA and/or protein turnover or decoy receptor function of CRF1 isoforms. Taken together, alternative splicing of CRF1 can represent another level of regulation of CRF-mediated stress responses at the central and peripheral levels. Chronic stress or malfunction of the HPA-axis have been linked to numerous human pathologies, suggesting that alternative splicing of CRF1 receptor could represent a promising target for drugs development.

In this study the anisotropic of TFT-LCD (Thin-Film-Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) screens were examined. Anisotropy occurs as the distribution of luminance and contrast changes over the screen surface due to different viewing angles. On the basis of detailed photometric measurements the detection performance in a visual reaction task was measured in different viewing conditions. Viewing angle (0°, front al view; 30°, off-axis; 50°, off-axis) as well as ambient lighting (a dark of illuminated room) were varied. Reaction times and accuracy of detection performance were recorded. Results showed TFT’s anisotropy to be a crucial factor deteriorating performance. With an increasing viewing angle performance decreased. It is concluded that TFT’s anisotropy is a limiting factor for overall suitability and usefulness of this new display technology.

Opis:
Calibration is necessary for dual manipulator to complete operational tasks. This paper proposes an effective robot-robot and hand-eye calibration method based on virtual constraints. Firstly, a rotational error model and a translational error model are established based on the relationships between the transformation matrices of the dual manipulator calibration system. Then a poses-alignment method is designed to make the poses of the two robots satisfy the constructed virtual constraints. At the aligned positions, the joint angles of the two robots are saved and used to calculate the values of the variables in the error models. Finally, the robot-robot and hand-eye rotational errors are estimated by an iterative algorithm. These errors are then used to calculate translational errors based on the SVD (singular value decomposition) method. To show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method, experiments of robot-robot and hand-eye calibration for dual manipulators are performed. The experiment results demonstrate that the accuracy of the dual manipulator system is improved greatly.

Opis:
Simulation of the hydrodynamic performance of a floating current turbine in a combined wave and flow environment is important. In this paper, ANSYS-CFX software is used to analyse the hydrodynamic performance of a vertical-axis turbine with various influence factors such as tip speed ratio, pitching frequency and amplitude. Time-varying curves for thrust and lateral forces are fitted with the least squares method; the added mass and damping coefficients are refined to analyse the influence of the former factors. The simulation results demonstrate that, compared with nonpitching and rotating turbines under constant inflow, the time-varying load of rotating turbines with pitching exhibits an additional fluctuation. The pitching motion of the turbine has a positive effect on the power output. The fluctuation amplitudes of thrust and lateral force envelope curves have a positive correlation with the frequency and amplitude of the pitching motion and tip speed ratio, which is harmful to the turbine’s structural strength. The mean values of the forces are slightly affected by pitching frequencies and amplitudes, but positively proportional to the tip speed ratio of the turbine. Based upon the least squares method, the thrust and lateral force coefficients can be divided into three components, uniform load coefficient, added mass and damping coefficients, the middle one being significantly smaller than the other two. Damping force plays a more important role in the fluctuation of loads induced by pitching motion. These results can facilitate study of the motion response of floating vertical-axis tidal current turbine systems in waves.

Opis:
The Orlica-Śnieżnik Dome (OSD), NE Bohemian Massif, contains in its core several gneiss variants with protoliths dated at ~500 Ma. In the western limb of the OSD, rodding augen gneisses (Spalona gneiss unit) are mainly L>S tectonites with a prominent stretching lineation. The few quartz LPO studies have produced somewhat discrepant results. Reexamination of these rocks revealed that texture formation was a protracted, multistage process that involved strain partitioning with changing strain rate and kinematics in a general shear regime at temperatures of the amphibolite facies (450–600°C). Quartz c-axis microfabrics show complex yet reproducible patterns that developed under the joint control of strain geometry and temperature; thus the LPOs are mixed features represented by pseudogirdle patterns. Domainal differences in quartz microfabrics (ribbons, tails, quartzo-feldspathic aggregate) are common in the Spalona orthogneisses but uncommon in the sheared migmatitic gneisses. In the latter rocks, the constrictional strain was imposed on the originally planar fabric defined by high-temperature migmatitic layering. The constrictional fabric of the Spalona gneisses may have developed in the hinge zones of kilometer-scale folds, where the elongation occurred parallel to the fold axes. Other occurrences of rodding gneisses throughout the Orlica-Śnieżnik Dome are thought to occupy similar structural positions, which would point to the significance of large-scale folds in the tectonic structure of the dome.

TG-DTA, XRD, SEM, VSM, and Network analyzer were measured in order to influence easy magnetization axis change on the wave absorption frequency range change. The easy magnetization axis change of the annealed powder at 900°C and 1200°C was confirmed by the coercive force decreased 4,800 and 3,870 Oe to 260 and 269 Oe, respectively, at the substitution ratio of 0.8 and 1.0. And it was confirmed that the change of the easy magnetization axis affected the change of the wave absorption frequency. The wave absorption frequency of substituted Barium Ferrite was less than 10 GHz range after the easy magnetization axis of Barium ferrite changed to a-b plan direction. It was confirmed the BaFe12-2xCoxTixO19(x=0.8 to 1.6) was synthesized by the sol-gel process and it was annealed at 900°C and 1200°C, which could be used as a wave absorber in the X-band region of 10 GHz less.

Monitoring systems using automated electronic total stations are an important element of safety control of many engineering objects. In order to ensure the appropriate credibility of acquired data, it is necessary that instruments (total stations in most of the cases) used for measurements meet requirements of measurement accuracy, as well as the stability of instrument axis system geometry. With regards to the above, it is expedient to conduct quality control of data acquired using electronic total stations in the context of performed measurement procedures. This paper presents results of research conducted at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at Warsaw University of Technology investigating the stability of “basic” error values (collimation, zero location for V circle, inclination), for two types of automatic total stations: TDA 5005 and TCRP 1201+. Research provided also information concerning the influence of temperature changes upon the stability of investigated instrument’s optical parameters. Results are presented in graphical analytic technique. Final conclusions propose methods, which allow avoiding negative results of measuring tool-set geometry changes during conducting precise deformation monitoring measurements.

Opis:
This study investigated associations between the growth hormone/insulin-like growth factor-1 (GH/IGF-1) axis, adiponectin, resistin and metabolic profile in 47 GH-deficient children before and during 12 months of GH treatment. 23 short age-matched children without growth hormone deficiency (GHD) or any genetic or chronic disorders were recruited as controls at baseline. Metabolic evaluation included measurements of adiponectin, resistin, IGF-1, total cholesterol (total-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), triglycerides (TG), glucose, insulin, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (free T4) concentrations. The GH-deficient children had significantly higher adiponectin (p<0.05) and total cholesterol (p<0.05) levels, and a significantly lower level of resistin (p<0.05) than the controls. Resistin at 6 months of GH treatment significantly correlated with changes in height SDS in that period (r=0.35) and with the level of fasting insulin (r=0.50), the HOMA-IR (r=0.56) and the QUICKI (r=-0.53) at 12 months of therapy. Adiponectin level at 12 months of GH treatment was significantly associated with changes in HDL-C within the first 6 (r=0.73) and within 12 (r=0.56) months of therapy, while resistin significantly correlated with an increment in IGF-1 within 12 months of treatment (r=0.49) and with total-C at 12 months (r=0.56). Untreated GH-deficient children had higher adiponectin and lower resistin levels than healthy short children without GHD. Adiponectin and resistin levels did not change significantly during the first 12 months of GH therapy. Good responders to GH treatment had a tendency for higher resistin level during GH therapy, which positively correlates with the insulin resistance parameters.

This method records two holograms, respectively, by using the reference waves in different directions. It shows not only a simpler algorithm and easier implementation in experiment, but also exact and complete suppression of the zero-order term and twin image without any spectrum loss of the object in the image reconstruction, particularly when the image and the zero-order term are fairly close to each other. The experimental result approves of the theoretical prediction very well. This approach provides an effective solution to suppressing undesired noises in the digital off-axis holography.

This paper proposes a method of end milling of cycloidal gears using a five-axis computer analytical control (CNC) machine tool. Firstly, the basic principle of the five-axis end milling of cycloidal gears is introduced. The cutting characteristics of the ball-end and the flat-end cutters are analyzed. Secondly, the path planning method of the five-axis end milling of cycloidal gears is researched. A curvature matching method is used to check for local over-cut interference and a minimum distance method is used to check for global collision interference. These two interferences are avoided by calculating the feasible range of cutter orientations and adjusting the dips of cutter shafts. Tests of end milling of cycloidal gears are carried out using a ball-end cutter and a flat-end cutter, respectively. Finally, full tooth profile accuracy measurements are undertaken with an image-measuring instrument to assess the quality of cycloidal gears processed in this way. This study provides a theoretical basis for the improvement of the tooth profile accuracy and surface quality of cycloidal gears.
