    Artykuł opisuje kolekcję autografόw dr. Aleksandra Kahanowicza, która znajduje się w Archiwum Polonii w Orchard Lake. Jest ona jedną z cenniejszych kolekcji przechowywanych w archiwach polonijnych w USA. Kolekcja składa się z 40 teczek, z dokumentami z lat 1555-1881. Są tam dokumenty i listy polskich krόlόw i krόlowych, książąt, generałόw, pułkownikόw i dostojnikόw Kościoła. Dotychczas nie zostały one zinwentaryzowane i opisane. Autor przybliżając losy kolekcji śledzi drogę, jaką przebyła zanim znalazła się w Archiwum Polonii w Orchard Lake. Szuka też argumentów popierających tezę, iż jest ona częścią wielkiej kolekcji zgromadzonej przez Kahanowicza. Był on jednym z sekretarzy premiera Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego, a następnie pracownikiem Konsulatu Generalnego Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej w Nowym Jorku.
    The article describes the collection of autographs gathered by Alexander Kahanowicz, which is stored at the Central Archives of Polonia. It is one of the most valuable collections held in the Polish archives in the United States. The collection consists of 40 folders containing documents from the years 1555–1881. Among them are gathered documents and letters of the Polish kings and queens, princes, generals, colonels and church dignitaries. The collection has not yet been inventoried and described. By bringing the fate of the collection the author follows a route it had travelled before it was placed at the Central Archives of Polonia at Orchard Lake. The author looks also for arguments supporting the thesis that this set of documents is part of the great collection gathered by Kahanowicz who was one of the secretaries of the Prime Minister Ignacy Jan Paderewski, and then an employee of the Polish Consulate General in New York.

    This article is based on provenance research done on the historical library of the Kielce chapter house. This research has allowed to prepare a list of priests who owned book collections which were subsequently bequeathed to the chapter library. Particular books were matched with their owners and thus catalogues of private libraries came into existence. In some cases these “catalogues” contain only one or two printed books. The private libraries stored in the chapter library contain monuments of printing since the fifteenth century. The priests who owned these books were either members of the chapter house or curates of the Kielce collegiate church in the period from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century. The members of the chapter house as well as the curates owned printed books connected with their sacerdotal activity, such as collections of sermons, handbooks for priests or liturgical books. Some of them owned also works of the Fathers of the Church as well as biblical, theological and legal prints. The contents of the private book collections cast light on the interests and the theological culture of the environment of the Kielce chapter.

    The article is dedicated to an unknown letters of Kazimierz Wyka and Stanisław Pigoń to the priest Jan Wiśniewski, which were found in the Diocesan Library in Sandomierz. Both resarchers wishd to gain access to the works of Adam Mickiewicz and Cyprian Kamil Norwid. The main contents of these letters are requests for a possibility of reading authographs of these works. Jan Wiśniewski was a known and worthy collector of Polish memorabilia. Stanisław Pigoń was reasercher and publisher of the works of Adam Mickiewicz. Kazimierz Wyka, as a historian of Polish literature, studied works of Cyprian Kamil Norwid.

    Los escritos autógrafos y dibujos de Leonardo da Vinci siguieron una compleja fortuna hasta llegar a nuestros días. Uno de los eslabones de la cadena de transmisión de los escritos vincianos fue su llegada a manos del escultor italiano Pompeo Leoni, afincado en España. El testamento de este escultor despeja cualquier duda sobre la presencia de una importante colección vinciana en España, aunque la descripción de la misma en los diferentes testamentos de la familia Leoni no permite identificar completamente cada uno de los códices que nos han llegado. En este artículo se hace una propuesta de identificación con tres niveles de certeza a partir de esta descripción notarial. Entre los identificados con certeza está la colección miscelánea ahora en la Windsor Collection. Menos segura es la identificación del Codex Atlanticus, en la Biblioteca Ambrosiana. Finalmente, la procedencia de los Códices de Madrid I y II puede calificarse de enigmática, ya que, aunque se sabe que el coleccionista Juan de Espina los legó al Rey de España, no existe referencia documental de cómo fueron adquiridos.
    Złożone były losy autografów i rysunków Leonarda da Vinci, zanim dotarły do naszych czasów. Jednym z ogniw w łańcuchu przekazu pism vinciańskich było ich przekazanie w ręce włoskiego rzeźbiarza Pompeo Leoniego, który osiadł w Hiszpanii. Testament tego rzeźbiarza rozwiewa wszelkie wątpliwości co do obecności w Hiszpanii ważnej kolekcji vincianów, choć jej opis w różnych testamentach rodziny Leoni nie pozwala w pełni zidentyfikować każdego z kodeksów, które do nas dotarły. W niniejszym artykule proponuje się identyfikację z trzema poziomami pewności na podstawie opisu notarialnego. Wśród zidentyfikowanych z pewnością znajduje się kolekcja różna, znajdująca się obecnie w Windsor Collection. Mniej pewna jest identyfikacja Codex Atlanticus w Bibliotece Ambrozjańskiej. Wreszcie pochodzenie kodeksów madryckich I i II można określić jako enigmatyczne, ponieważ chociaż wiadomo, że kolekcjoner Juan de Espina przekazał je królowi Hiszpanii, nie ma w dokumentach wzmianki o sposobie ich pozyskania.
    Leonardo da Vinci’s autograph writings and drawings followed a complex fortune until they reached the present day. One of the links in the chain of transmission of the Vincian writings was their arrival in the hands of the Italian sculptor Pompeo Leoni, who settled in Spain. The will of this sculptor clears up any doubts about the presence of an important Vincian collection in Spain, although the description of it in the different wills of the Leoni family does not allow us to fully identify each of the codices that have come down to us. In this article a proposal is made for identification with three levels of certainty based on this notarial description. Among those identified with certainty is the miscellaneous collection now in the Windsor Collection. Less certain is the identification of the Codex Atlanticus, in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana. Finally, the provenance of the Madrid I and II Codices can be described as enigmatic, since, although it is known that the collector Juan de Espina bequeathed them to the King of Spain, there is no documentary reference to how they were acquired.

    The article aims at the presentation of the collection of manuscripts, a hardly known collection of historical sources concerning different periods of the history of Poland. It describes in detail individual sets of manuscripts, a kind of guide concerning the inventory of the whole collection available in the Museum (a copy in the National Library of Poland). The most valua¬ble, most comprehensive and – in this context – unobvious part of the collection, consisting of the sources for the history of the January Uprising, as well as the collection of literary autographs and royal documents. The objects which are closely related to the history of the Museum are the leg¬acy of Father Józef Jarzębowski and manuscripts concerning the history of the Roman-Catholic church, documentation of the Poles’ activities during World War II, minor materials concerning the history of the Polish diaspora. It is only by recognizing the history and context of how the collection had been developed that it can be properly interpreted, individual objects included.
