The article is devoted to the memoirs “The history of my century and people who I lived with” by Frantsishek Karpinsky (1741–1825) – Polish writer, poet and playwright. The author of the article examines the process of writing and publishing the work, studies its genre innovation in the methods of describing a person’s spiritual life in real historic circumstances, analyzes the subjects and problems of memories. The attention is also paid to peculiarities of the writer’s style connected with the Age of Enlightenment.

Autor artykułu analizuje ekphrasis w twórczości wszechstronnie utalentowanych – autorów, którzy w swojej działalności zwracali się do różnych praktyk twórczych (malarstwo, fotografia, literatura piękna). Jego uwaga koncentruje się na znaczeniu studiów nad uniwersalizmem artystycznym. Omawia podstawowe podejścia do pojęcia ekfraza, podaje klasyfikację inkluzji ekfrastycznych. Na materiale utworów literackich J. Drazdowicza, M. Chagalla, U. Gałubka i J. Bułhaka wyjaśnia ich rolę i funkcje w opisach dzieł sztuki. Stwierdza, że w utworach multitalentów ekfraza jest jednym ze sposobów charakteryzowania bohaterów i przestrzeni, przekazuje oblicze pewnej epoki, określa stanowisko autora, służy jako alegoria kultury, aktualizuje problematykę artystyczną, jest ważnym elementem fabularnym i zapewnia integralność dzieła.
The article analyzes ekphrasis in the work of multi-talents – authors who in their activity turned to different artistic practices (painting, photography and literature). The attention is focused on the relevance of the study of the phenomenon of artistic universalism. The main approaches to the definition of ekphrasis are considered and a classification of ekphrastic inclusions is given. Based on the material of the literary works of J. Drazdovich, M. Chagall, U. Galubok and J. Bulhak, the role and functions in the text of descriptions of works of art are considered. It has been revealed that in the works of multi-talents, ekphrasis is one of the ways to characterize heroes and space; it conveys the appearance of a certain era, broadcasts the author’s position, serves as an allegory of culture and actualizes art issues. It is an important plot–forming element which ensures the integrity of the work.

The author of the article, Walentyna Sobol, analyzes documentary and literary books from Morocco and two émigré writers about Morocco. These are “Spells of Morocco” – the Ukrainian forgotten author Sofia Jabłońska (1907–1971) and “Moon in Tears” – contemporary writer Morocco Ouard Saillo, born in Morocco in 1974. Ouardy Saillo’s book, decorated with photos of the Saillo family, was written in German. For the first time is published in Polish translated by Barbara Otwinowska (published in 2005 in Warsaw). In 2018, in Kiev were published 107 photographs of Sofia Jabłońska from her times of work and travel around the world, including Morocco. The goal of the article is to reveal the phenomenon of persistence and bravery of both writers, different, but sometimes very similar intertextuality . The narrative of the documents is examined using a methodological approach, especially in terms of: “intertextuality is a study of the memory of literature” (Tadeusz Sławek). Using modern research in anthropology, including the lexicon of the culture of memory “Modi memorandi”, the author of the article investigates the phenomenon of intertextuality in the narratives of Jabłońska and Saillo. This comparative study of the autobiographical works of Ukrainian and Moroccan writers in Poland not only reveals the conclusions, but also opens wide research perspectives.

Bazyli Pietruczuk’s autobiography is the main source of subjects discussed in his literary work. The author of the article analyzes his autobiography “Okruchy”. The writer presents his childhood memories full of pain, mischief and injustice. The picture of anti-childhood becomes pretext to consider the influence of surroundings on the way personality is formed.
Własna biografia jest podstawowym źródłem tematów utworów Bazylego Pietruczuka. W artykule dokonano analizy jego autobiograficznej książki „Okruchy”. Pisarz powraca w niej do wspomnień dzieciństwa, pełnego bólu, krzywd i niesprawiedliwości. Ukazanie historii anty-dzieciństwa staje się dla Pietruczuka pretekstem do rozważań na temat wpływu otoczenia na kształtowanie się osobowości człowieka.

The article focuses on how the category of age is interpreted in George Sand’s The History of my Life, how general and gender aspects are related in every phase of age triad “childhood – youth – old age” and author’s personal experience of maturation coincides with diachronic paradigm “daughter – mother – grandmother”. This corre-spondence helps the writer to investigate her own personal evolution ad absurdum. Synchronic and diachronic narrative levels stipulate George Sand’s interpretation of the conventional opposition “youth – old age” through two pairs of concepts: “youth – maturation” and “childhood – old age”.

Opis:
Literary creation of Belarusian writers in Bialystok region is an integral part of modern Belarusian literature. In fact, its existence contributes to the creation of multiple polarity and decentralization of the literary process necessary to complete the development of our literature. And its further development can be considered a continuation of earlier processes, which applies to Nadzeya Artymovich’s interesting poetry. The article examines the possible points of contact between Nadzeya Artymovich’s poetry and the poetry of Western Belarus, of Natalya Arsennyeva in particular. The analysis is based on both literary studies and the original texts, The author concludes that such features as individualism/isolation, existential motives, the theme of the poet and poetry, and reserved patriotism are connected with general typological coincidence or “typology of thinking”.
Twórczość białoruskich pisarzy na Białostocczyźnie stanowi integralną część współczesnej literatury białoruskiej. Jej istnienie jest elementem procesu kreowania literackiej wielobiegunowości i decentralizacji, niezbędnych dla pełnowartościowego rozwoju literatury.Współczesny rozwój literatury, w tym oryginalnej poezji Nadziei Artymowicz, można uznać za kontynuację procesów wcześniejszych. W artykule omówiono punkty styczne poezji Nadziei Artymowicz z poezją zachodniobiałoruską, a w szczególności z poezją Natalii Arsenniewej. Analizę oparto zarówno na materiale literaturoznawczym, jak i tekstach oryginalnych. Zdaniem autorki artykułu takie cechy jak indywidualizm, motywy egzystencjalne, temat poety i poezji, powściągliwy patriotyzm w twórczości obu poetek są uwarunkowane typologiczną zbieżnością lub „typologią myślenia”.

The article considers the experience of inheriting the traumatic memory in prose of Magdalena Tulli and autopsychotherapeutic functions of it’s narrativization with the help of elements of psychotherapeutic methods (family constellations, a dialogue with a child in yourself, deconstruction and reconstruction of the life narratives, re-membering, therapeutic metaphor, focusing). The narrativization of the trauma in the process of artistic narration contributes processing traumatic experience, is an important element of constructing of autobiography, gives a chance to retrieve own history, which is not overshadowed with tragic parental discourse, helps to achieve balance between traumatic and positive contents of autobiographical memory, fulfills interpsychological functions.

Opis:
The present paper is dedicated to the most subjective of autobiographical genres, to the genre of diary. The author deals with the definition of the term ‘diary’ and also with the main types within the genre in the literary-theoretical tradition of Slavonic and non-Slavonic countries. Among the types of diary, the author focuses on a special subgenre, the so-called writer’s diary, and defines its dominant and variable features. The writer’s diary is analyzed from different points of view (e.g. orientation, intended publication, topics), which leads to distinguishing its varieties (e.g. journalistic, business, poetic, journey diary). Although the author deals primarily with Russian literature, the paper presents the genre in a wider Slavonic context.
Предлагаемая статья посвящена caмому субективному из автобиографических жанров, жанpу дневника. Автор занимается толкованием термина «дневник», основными видами этого жанра в литературоведческой традиции славянских и нeславянских стран. Сосредоточив внимание на особом виде жанра днeвника, так называемом писательском дневнике, aвтор определяет его доминантные и вариабильные черты. Ha писательский дневник aвтор cмотрит c paзных точек зрения (направление, издание, тематика), на основе которых выделяeт его типы (публицистический, деловой, поэтический, путевой дневник и др.). Xoтя внимание уделяется прежде всего русской литеpатуре, в статье присутствует общий славянский контекст.

Some European nations and countries stayed in the area of totalitarianism for a long time. This fact and various ways of transforming and self-identity in a totalitarian society require careful studying in a broad scientific spectrum. Studying of the dissident movement is one of the important aspects of this multifaceted research topic. Resistance movement against totalitarianism in the second half of the twentieth century on the territory of Ukraine is closely linked with the concept of Ukrainian sixties. The place and understanding of the role in the cultural and political opposition to totalitarianism, features and images of the sixties are considered through memoir texts as social, political and aesthetic phenomenon of sixties. Self-reception of representatives of the rebellious generation gives the important information about forms and manifestations of resistance for understanding the phenomenon of the sixties, its place in the spiritual coordinates of the twentieth century.

The article analyses the manuscript of Philip Orlik’s diary (1672–1742). The Ukrainian hetman was writing it for twelve years, between 1720 and 1732. The author’s focus is Orlik’s autobiography. It is a very important part of the diary and is related to the exile period of his life. The diarist had given that chapter a separate title – “Pro memoria. Na cześć i chwałę Bogu w Trojcy Świętej jedynemu Amen” [“Pro Memoria. For the Glory of God in Holy Trinity United Amen”]. The purpose of the article is to investigate the anthropology of family memory in the diary as a pledge of the author’s endurance. Orlik perceived the diary as an interlocutor, so there is a peculiar, emotionally sensitive link between the diary and the diarist. The diary is characterised by persuasiveness. In order to illustrate it, the author of the article provides quotations from the diary without translation. The original language of Orlik’s manuscript is the Old Polish language inlaid with Latin. The diarist had put down into the diary copies of the most important letters. He wrote the letters in French and Latin. The Polish language was used exclusively in his correspondence with King Stanislav. The author analyses the autobiographical note in the context of the diary genre, defining it as a model of baroque autobiography that resonates throughout the text of the diary.

The article is dedicated to a non-fiction book by journalist and war correspondent Anna Wojtacha titled “We’ll Kill or We’ll Fall in Love. Stories from Russia”. Her prose is of dual nature: consists both of reportage and personal journal features, while the fiction elements are still present. They manifest in the book’s imagery, fictionalization and the way the characters are constructed. The book proves how apacious modern documentary is and shows its evolution towards more literary character. Documenting human’s life demands finding a story which gives meaning to a given stream of events.

Between phantasy and reality. Some comments to Dichterleben written by Heinz Piontek The novel by Heinz Piontek Dichterleben is not an autobiographical novel. Nonetheless the article tries to find correlations between statements stated by the novels character Reichsfelder and the opinions of Piontek, written by himself in his essays and interviews. The article also highlights the tendency Pioteks to “reproduce” the belonging to literary prose or lyric texts, motives and “linguistic pictures” in Dichterleben and to process them. Above that the article shows how close the phantasy and reality are connected together. It is also an attempt to show which component of the novel is most important.

Opis:
The article puts forward the theme and style specificity of Franz Kafka’s correspondence with his parents. Firstly, the letters feature information about facts from Kafka’s biography, his existence-related choices, as well as social and religious views; secondly, they refer the reader to the figures of speech and communicative games typical of the world of literature. The metamorphoses of style found in the analysis of Kafka’s letters require the reader to see the author as a literary figure and a human being; a person who does not create borders between his literary output and everyday existence. What is more, he is a person who found space of artistic fulfillment even in the relationship with his own parents. The analysis of Franz Kafka’s correspondence in the present article was conducted in two thematic sections. First section regards the issue of the writer’s attempts to acquire housing and existential independence from his parents. The other section describes Kafka’s efforts to protect his privacy in time of his lethal illness. In the case of both thematic sections, Kafka turns out to be an excellent stylist, changing his narrative style from one attracting the addressees emotionally to one repelling them. Another writing technique, constantly present in Kafka’s epistolography is stylistic dialectic which consists in exaggerating or downplaying phenomena, facts and inner states. As a result, thanks to his literary artistry Kafka achieves predominance of literary form over biographical reality as well as of symbolic and mythical images over the univocality of his lethal illness.
