The article reports the results of measurements of the acoustic pressure of acoustic waves generated by acoustic dust cleaners mounted in the convection pass of the 670MWth Circulating Fluidised Bed boiler. Based on measurements carried out and the spectral analysis of recorded signals it was found that the level of acoustic pressure generated by acoustic cleaners for the frequency of 100 Hz was too low for the efficient cleaning of the heated surfaces of the reheater RH2 and superheater SH3.

Opis:
Superheater is for generating superheated steam from the saturated steam from the evaporator outlet. In the case of pulverized coal fired boiler, a relatively small amount of ash causes problems with ash fouling on the heating surfaces, including the superheaters. In the convection pass of the boiler, the flue gas temperature is lower and ash deposits can be loose or sintered. Ash fouling not only reduces heat transfer from the flue gas to the steam, but also is the cause of a higher pressure drop on the flue gas flow path. In the case the pressure drop is greater than the power consumed by the fan increases. If the superheater surfaces are covered with ash than the steam temperature at the outlet of the superheater stages falls, and the flow rates of the water injected into attemperator should be reduced. There is also an increase in flue gas temperature after the different stages of the superheater. Consequently, this leads to a reduction in boiler efficiency. The paper presents the results of computational fluid dynamics simulations of the first stage superheater of both the boiler OP-210M using the commercial software. The temperature distributions of the steam and flue gas along the way they flow together with temperature of the tube walls and temperature of the ash deposits will be determined. The calculated steam temperature is compared with measurement results. Knowledge of these temperatures is of great practical importance because it allows to choose the grade of steel for a given superheater stage. Using the developed model of the superheater to determine its degree of ash fouling in the on-line mode one can control the activation frequency of steam sootblowers.

The fusion behaviour of biomass ash-forming materials is an important factor in assessing the propensity to form undesirable slag and fouling deposits in the boiler. The characteristics of the fuel used affect the extent and severity of the problem, thus growing efforts are put on finding reliable methods for its characterization. Combustion and co-combustion of biomass have gained popularity in combating climate change and reducing carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. Nevertheless, biomass encompasses a wide range of different types and its use increases operational risks due to the diversity of the chemical composition. This study is based on characterising the mineral phase transformations of two kinds of biomass (wood pellets and cereal pellets) using various laboratory-based methods on fuel ashes. Measurements of changes in the electrical properties of the ash during the sintering process (dielectric loss factor) were performed using a QuadTech Plus 7600 bridge in the frequency range 500Hz - 1MHz. Thermodynamic analyses were performed by means of FactSage™ modelling. The results were compared with those of standard tests, AFT and oxide index calculations, which were employed to predict slagging and fouling propensities. The observed changes in dielectric loss depend on the frequency and temperature of sintering. FactSageTM thermodynamic equilibrium calculations proved very useful in predicting the ash melting behaviour and the chemical changes occurring in the ash. The existence of a melt phase, occurring at even lower temperatures of those given by the AFT, is in accordance with the high slagging and fouling hazards predicted by empirical indices.

Ashes were prepared by annealing selected types of solid fuels (biomass: corn cobs, sunflower husks, olive pomace, hay pellets and rice husks; coal: lignite and bituminous; and alternative fuel: paper sludge) at different temperatures (550°C, 815°C and 975°C). Based on X-ray fluorescence spectra, the slagging/fouling indexes were used to study the effects of the type of ash and the ashing temperature on the ash fouling and slagging properties. Slagging indexes were compared with the ash fusion temperatures. Ash fusion temperatures were measured by a LECO AF-700. The lowest deformation temperature (below 1000°C) was seen for the ashes prepared from hay pellets and corn cobs. On the other hand, the deformation temperature exceeded 1500°C for ashes prepared from paper sludge, sunflower husks and rice husks. By calculating the different slagging/fouling indexes, all the ashes exhibited slagging/fouling problems of varying degrees.

The article deals with the possibility of limiting slag formation in specific heating plant boilers by adding an additive to the batch. The possibilities of reducing slag formation in energy boilers have already been investigated in laboratory conditions where the addition of the NALCO 8270 additive has not led to demonstrable results [13]. X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence of slag samples collected from granulation boilers were performed within the experiment. Furthermore, calculations of the efficiency of the boilers operated in the heat plant were performed using the indirect method. The efficiency was calculated for boilers without dosing and with additive dosing. The results show that using the additive increases the efficiency of the boiler by about 1%.
W artykule przedstawiono możliwość ograniczenia tworzenia się żużla podczas spalania w kotłach grzewczych poprzez dodatki do wsadu. Możliwości ograniczenia powstawania żużla w kotłach energetycznych zostały już zbadane w warunkach laboratoryjnych, w których dodanie dodatku NALCO 8270 nie doprowadziło do pozytywnych wyników [13]. W ramach eksperymentu przeprowadzono dyfrakcję rentgenowską i fluorescencję rentgenowską próbek żużla pobranych z kotłów. Ponadto obliczenia wydajności kotłów pracujących w ciepłowni przeprowadzono metodą pośrednią. Wydajność obliczono dla kotłów bez dozowania i z dozowaniem dodatków. Wyniki pokazują, że dodatek zwiększa wydajność kotła o około 1%.
