Opis:: Asbestos is one of the substances with carcinogenic effects, resulting from inhaling of fibres present in the air. Production of asbestos-based products was banned in Poland in 1999. Moreover, a government programme was developed aimed at eliminating asbestos and products made of it from our country by 2032. In 2015, NIK audited the realisation of the tasks set out in this programme, as well as in the programmes of individual local self-government units. The audit also examined whether the owners, users of perpetual lease and administrators of estates properly performed the tasks imposed on them by the Ministry of Economy, local self-government units and local branches of the Agricultural Property Agency (ANR) in the years 2009–2015.

Opis:: Frictional brake lining materials are broadly made of asbestos as their constituent. But asbestos is dangerous for handling due to health hazardous. Asbestos has ample physical, mechanical and tribological properties. The material replacing it should have all these properties with no undermine. In this paper a study on asbestos base and asbestos free brake lining material is presented. Purpose behind this is combine the demerits of asbestos free and asbestos base materials with comparable properties. Some organic waste from farm like banana peel, palm karnel shell, were also tested for the replacement of asbestos and they found worth through comparison with each others.

Opis:: Blisko 13 lat od uchwalenia programu zakładającego całkowite usunięcie azbestu do roku 2032 unieszkodliwiono zaledwie 17% z około 8,5 mln ton zinwentaryzowanych wyrobów zawierających ten materiał. Przy obecnym tempie prac pozostałe 7 mln ton uda się wyeliminować najwcześniej w 2081 r. Jak wynika z ostatniej, czwartej już kontroli NIK dotyczącej zagadnień związanych z azbestem, głównymi przyczynami problemów są brak funduszy oraz nieskuteczne prawo.
Due to their harmful impact on health, production of asbestos items and their trade have been subject to various bans. In Poland, they were introduced in the Act of the 19th June 1997, while in the whole European Union – in Directives 1999/77/EC and 2003/18/EC, in force since the 1st January 2005. Nevertheless, the regulations do not solve the whole asbestos problem in Poland, as millions of tons of it are still in use, mainly on roof surfaces that call for dismantlement and recycling. That is why in 2002 the Council of Ministers adopted “Programme for removing asbestos and products containing asbestos used in Poland”, continued and updated with the “Programme for removing asbestos from the country for the years 2009–2032”, adopted on the 15th March 2010. In 2022, the Supreme Audit Office of Poland conducted, on its own initiative, the forth audit of eliminating asbestos products, which was aimed to establish whether in the years 2016–2021 this was done in an effective manner and in compliance with the binding regulations, especially the Programme adopted. The audit comprised 32 entities, including five regional marshals’ offices (urzędy marszałkowskie), three lower level regional offices (starostwa powiatowe), 23 municipality offices (urzędy gmin), and one inter-municipality association (związek międzygminny). The auditees were selected from the Asbestos Database, related to the largest volume of recorded asbestos, or the lowest level of asbestos removed in the given location.
