    This article discusses the specificity of poetic conceptualization of power in the poetry of William Wordsworth. The focus is on the diversity of textual images of a human being in general, such as an individual or collective subject, and on the philosophical concepts of human life and destiny positioned by the authors in the centre of artistic reflection synthesizing the appropriate social pragmatics. The research is based on the cognitive-discursive approach and proceeds from the scientific ideas about the dynamics of correlation between the cultural-historical paradigm and artistic thinking, the cognitive power of artistic image and artistic text as a linguistic sign of national culture. It involves the integration of research tools of linguistic and cognitive stylistics, cultural and literary studies, which builds a vector of analysis from the concept of power as a social phenomenon to its embodiment, explicit and implicit, at different levels of textual matter.

    The paper focuses on revealing linguistic and cognitive mechanisms that underlie the formation and functioning of verbal images of native land in William Wordsworth’s poetic system. The artistic concept of Motherland is subjected to linguistic-poetic interpretation. The national specificity of Wordsworth’s poetics reveals itself in the dominance of ethnographic details and naturalness of description, foregrounding the idea of inseparability of individual personal fate and the processes of ethnic environment transformation. Everyday themes and dramatic effect of personal and intimate events in the life of a poetic persona are ascribed symbolic senses and reflect the universal and national destiny of England at the turn of the century.

Uczucia patriotyczne mają charakter litewsko-białoruski bez rozgraniczania na litewskość i białoruskość. Jednocześnie podkreślono obecność różnych epok historycznych na ziemiach współczesnej Białorusi.
    According to the analyzed examples the artistic image of Kostyushko has been widely used as a concept by Belarusian poets and translators since the 19th century. They broke with this tradition in Soviet times. The image of the hero functions as a symbol in the cultural and historic discourse of Belarusian poets. The patriotic feelings are of Lithuanian-Belarusian nature without the division into Lithuanian or Belarusian type. The presence of various historical periods on the territory of modern Belarus has been emphasized.

    All components of the artistic world of literary works are medium of artistic concept. In contrast to the ideas of the image, the character, and the hero, the concept refers to the writer’s views; it optimizes the analysis of pictorial structure of a literary work. Scientific interest in the study of the characters’ conception in literature was intensified at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries and has been relevant since then. An artistic expression of a personality conception in literary works has clear historical and national features. This article presents the results of the analysis of the artistic concept of the personality in Mira Luksha’s prose.
    Wszystkie komponenty świata artystycznego w literaturze są nośnikiem twórczej koncepcji. W przeciwieństwie do pojęcia obrazu, charakteru, bohatera koncepcja twórcza odnosi się do całokształtu poglądów pisarza, optymalizuje analizę obrazowej struktury utworu. Zainteresowania badaczy koncepcją bohaterów w twórczości poszczególnych pisarzy przybrały szczególnie intensywną formę na przełomie XX i XXI wieku, i trwają do dziś. Twórcze uosobienie koncepcji jednostki w utworze literackim posiada wyraźne cechy historyczne i narodowe. W artykule omówiono wyniki analizy artystycznej koncepcji jednostki w prozie Miry Łukszy.

    The aim of the article is to examine the figure of a vagabond and an artist in the novel The Hidden Mountain (La Montagne secrète) by Gabrielle Roy which, according to Antoine Boisclair, is the first Quebec novel completely devoted to painting. It presents the wandering of the artist who does not perceive his vagabondage as movement from one place to another, but regards it as the essence of both his existence and his creation. First, the analysis explores the problem of wandering as narrative basis, examining the tension between the external reality and the inner experience of the painter. Then, the aim of the artist’s journey, symbolically delineated by the Hidden Mountain, is analyzed. The final part of the article is devoted to the concept of art presented in the novel, with particular emphasis on the humanistic dimension of artistic creation.

    This article brings a comparative analysis of the concept MOTHER OF GOD (Bohorodytsia/Bogurodzica) as represented in the Ukrainian and Polish linguistic worldviews. Basing on the data of different types of dic-tionaries of the Ukrainian and Polish languages, folklore texts and artistic discourse, the study identifies the means of its verbalisation in Ukrainian and Polish and their similar and distinctive features. The results of lexicographic analysis indicate that the definitions of this concept in the two languages are the closest in content in the categories Bozha Matir and Matka Boża ‘the name of Christ’s Mother in Christian faith’. In modern explanatory dictionaries of the Ukrainian language the lexeme Bohorodytsia ‘Mother of God’ is primary, neutral, while the dictionaries of the Polish language list a combination of lexemes Matka Boża in this function. In Ukrainian and Polish ethnocultures Bohorodytsia / Matka Boża means ‘caring, loving mother, mother of all people, defender of the disadvantaged’. The analysis of Ukrainian and Polish artistic discourse revealed the metaphorical use of lexical units Bohorodytsia/Bogurodzica for denoting the concept MOTHER OF GOD, reflecting the ethnocultural specifics of the individual characteristics of the writers’ worldview.  
    W artykule została przeprowadzona analiza porównawcza pojęcia BOGURODZICA, przedstawionego w ukraińskim i polskim językowym obrazie świata. Na podstawie materiałów różnego rodzaju słowników języka ukraińskiego i polskiego, tekstów folklorystycznych i dyskursu artystycznego zostały zidentyfikowane sposoby jego werbalizacji w języku ukraińskim i polskim, zostały ustalone cechy analogiczne i dystynktywne. Analiza leksykograficzna wykazała, że definicje pojęcia w języku ukraińskim i polskim są najbardziej podobne pod względem treści w kategoriach Божа Матір i Matka Boża – ‘u chrześcijan nazwa matki Chrystusa’. We współczesnych słownikach objaśniających języka ukraińskiego podstawowym i neutralnym jest leksem Богородиця, podczas gdy w słownikach języka polskiego do tego celu służy kombinacja leksemów Matka Boża. W etnokulturze ukraińskiej i polskiej Богородиця / Matka Boża to ‘troskliwa, kochająca matka, matka wszystkich ludzi, obrończyni pokrzywdzonych’. Analiza ukraińskiego i polskiego dyskursu artystycznego pokazała użycie metaforycznych jednostek leksykalnych do określenia pojęcia BOGURODZICA, odzwierciedlających etnokulturową specyfikę cech indywidualnych światopoglądu pisarzy.

    The article is devoted to the analysis of the themes (motifs) of youth and old age in the poetry of A. S. Pushkin. The first part of it focusses on the images of youth in Pushkin´s early (lycean) works of art as well as in his poems of the romantic period and the last decade of his poetic carrier. The second part pays attention to four variants of Pushkin´s poetic depiction of the old age. In the last part the author of the article summarizes the facts obtained by the analysis of both themes (motifs) and in a brief survey presents the most important conclusions characterizing specific features of Pushkin´s artistic concept of time.

    The subject of analysis in the proposed article is a comparison of the lexicographic (etymological, interpretative, synonymic) description of the word-concept memory and the representation of its semantics in the linguistic-cultural model of artistic text. The semantics of this word is traceable in terms of lexicographic sources – etymological, interpretive, synonymous, philosophical dictionaries, as well as by the methods of textual realisation of these semantics in poetry and artistic prose. The psychology of artistic creativity updates the components of the semantic structure of memory tokens, such as imagination, sleep, time, glory, honour. Linguistic and stylistic analysis of OlesGonchar’s prose shows the role of memory in the psychology of the writer’s work. We propose the definition of linguistic-cultural model of artistic text, as well as distinguish the notion of event, cultural-historical, ethno-cultural, and photographic (cinematic) memory, associative memory of words, realities, etc.

    The Curse” or „On the Concept of the Face Regarding the Son of God
    Opis:
    Social protests connected with the performances of “Golgotha Picnic”, “The Curse” or “On the Concept of the Face Regarding the Son of God” arouses an understandable interest of the theologian in the phenomenon of “slighting of religious feelings” and the reasons why these stage works evoke such reactions. The article presents an analysis of the content of the mentioned above performances in the context of the words of the Bible as well as the teachings of different Christian Churches. It is aimed at finding points (scenes) in which the content presented on the stage is inconsistent with Christian teaching, distorts it or presents it in an ironic way. The article also tries to find potential artistic justifications for such performances. Referring to earlier published artistic reviews, rather than scientific publications, it defines common features that characterize performances that offend religious feelings, but also indicates areas where the situation of slighting of such feelings is not unambiguous. The article does not deny the possibility that someone’s feelings have been touched or slighted by the discussed performances, but it points out the possibility that the offense of religious feelings is more the result of knowledge, motivation or attitude of the audience than from the presented content itself.

Such tales as “Krivinka”, “Slavsya, Mariya!” and the novel “Velikaya knyaginya” show both artistic evolution of Shamyakin-writer and spiritual evolution of Shamyakin-human.
