Opis:
Over the last few years, the global academic community has been wondering about the possibility and efficiency of using artificial intelligence technologies in the educational process in general, and in the process of teaching foreign languages in particular. Among the theorists and practitioners in the field of education there appeared both ardent supporters of the use of these technologies, and strong opponents of this idea. Our experimental study proved the efficiency of artificial intelligence technologies in the process of the formation of foreign language communicative competence of students of non-linguistic specialties of higher educational institutions. At the same time, we emphasize that the role of the teacher in the process of organizing the educational process remains fundamental, whereas his/her additional tasks in modern conditions include a careful selection of artificial intelligence technologies, creation of a set of exercises based on their application, which should contribute to the formation of professional competencies of students.

The purpose of this article is to introduce some of the problems arising from the rapid development and raising the status of machines and the increasing disregard for human rights in the context of the use of cognitive technologies. Cognitive technologies are highly acclaimed and are being introduced into almost all aspects of life, especially in business. The article asks the question of whether the use of these technologies leads to a gradual humanization of machines while dehumanizing humans. The article is purely theoretical and based on a literature study of selected bibliographic items. On the basis of the analyzed texts an attempt was made to introduce the concept of artificial intelligence, cognitive technologies and algorithms. It also attempts to diagnose the state of work on the regulation of the legal situation related to the development of artificial intelligence and cognitive technologies, as well as the status of robots. The philosophical concept of dehumanization and its selected examples are also outlined. The discussion leads to the conclusion that the pace of development of cognitive technologies, overtaking the human ability to comprehend them, poses a threat of machines getting out of human control.

Cybersecurity is closely related to the issue of artificial intelligence. The starting point for its presentation in the EU perspective seems to be the Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions entitled „Artificial Intelligence for Europe”. This communication was preceded by the European Economic and Social Committee’s own-initiative opinion „Artificial intelligence: the impact of artificial intelligence on the (digital) single market, production, consumption, employment and society”. In the body of this opinion, the European Economic and Social Committee concluded that there is no single accepted and rigid definition of artificial intelligence.

Opis:
The world is constantly changing under the influence of new technologies. Artificial intelligence systems are currently used in many areas of human activity. Such systems are increasingly assigned the tasks of collecting and analysing personal data. The areas successfully using AI include transport, medicine, trade, marketing, and others. The number of these areas increases proportionally with the advancement of technology. We can process vast amounts of data and analyse it using IA. It is, of course, big data that sits at the heart of AI. As computing systems generally have grown in power and capacity, data consumption has grown exponentially.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become part of our daily lives and is a fundamental tool for developing private and professional operations. In this sense, one of the sectors where AI has had the greatest impact has been the financial sector, where it is necessary to establish a regulatory framework to address two fundamental issues to ensure its proper functioning, specifically those aspects that affect digital transparency and neutral algorithms.             To address both aspects, the European Union, through its various institutions, has established guidelines for Member States to apply ethical principles that align financial digitalisation with sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals set out in the 2030 Agenda. These ethical values have been regrouped in a series of principles that must be present in the legislation that regulates future financial operations, ensuring their application within the territory of the European Union.             In this regard, financial digitalisation must ensure principles that control risks, creating technologically applicable rules for all sectors that guarantee a level playing field between States without fragmenting the internal market. To this end, they must carry out a prior impartial and external assessment for each operation, based on specific and defined criteria that do not violate fundamental rights or the security standards established in EU law. The methodology used in this article is descriptive, compiling European regulatory projects, taking into account academic studies on ethics in the financial sector.

Opis:
Artificial intelligence (AI), thanks to pop culture, is widely identified with robots or humanoid machines that take control over humans. Even though we might be feared of the new technology or the questionable social and ethical issues that arise from it, AI is developing rapidly which makes it a priority in the cognitive economy. Consequently, processes or services performed without any help from humans can no longer be considered as a part of the distant future. According to public opinion research from last year, conducted for IBM by NMS Market Research, 92% of Poles have heard of AI and 8 out of 10 expect it to be used more broadly. Efficient legislation can ensure the correct and regulated development of new technologies whilst inefficient legislation or the complete lack thereof can halt and even completely cease further research, or make the usage of AI significantly difficult in both social life and the economy. This paper is an attempt at placing national legislation concerning AI in the context of the legislation of the EU and other countries. I will attempt to answer the question of whether it is possible to introduce into legislation a technology whose usage and full potential are yet unknown. Is AI, in terms of the law, a scientific fantasy or can it be regulated? I have analysed soft law on which some general regulations and future law recommendations are based. Currently, AI is only restricted by single provisions as there are no regulations that can be used in a complex manner in the area of new technology.

Cognitive technologies and artificial intelligence dynamize the development of the modern world in various spheres. Modern man is not always aware of how often he uses this type of technology, both in everyday life and at work. The conducted literature research has shown a growing interest in the discussed issues. The diagnostic survey allowed the assessment of the level of familiarity with the terms "cognitive technologies" and "artificial intelligence" in the perception of students, doctoral students and employees of a selected university. The auditorium survey technique was used for the research. The research shows that the distance between humans and an intelligent robot is decreasing. A man is inclined to let intelligent robots enter even the most intimate spheres of his life. The article contributes to filling the gap in knowledge about the perception and application of intelligent technologies and the readiness to use them. Furthermore, it sets out further directions for research on this phenomenon.

We, as humans appropriated science. A scientist is associated only with a human being. It doesn't have to stay that way. Non-protein scientists may appear sooner than expected. We will be challenged soon. A new legal and ethical code will be needed, and above all, a redefinition of the concepts of science and scientist seems to be urgent to formulate. The appearance of superintelligence and machines in science will mean the need to re-evaluate its operation. Let's start noticing the law of artificial intelligence (AI), to build inclusive science with machines.

This paper reviews the disruptive technologies literature and the potential impact disruptive technologies will have in the boardroom. Changes in industries and the growth of technology are creating a new paradigm shift in industries and strategic planning within the corporate world. Disruptive technologies are changing the very fabric of our decision making and how we deliver products and services. The last ten years have seen exponential growth in research on disruptive technologies and their impact on industries, supply chains, resources, training, education and employment markets. Current research predicts changes in how we will conduct our daily lives and, ultimately, in the workforce of the future. Predictions are seldom totally correct as the technologies often move in directions we failed to anticipate. The debate is still open on who will be the winners and losers of future industries, but what is certain is that change has picked up pace and we are now in a new technology revolution whose impact is potentially greater than the industrial revolution. This paper gathers past research on disruptive technologies in order to better understand the pace and direction of change and how it will influence the role of boards in helping directors to adapt to manage the changing business world.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to characterize the possibilities of improving the accounting information system supporting decision-making processes in the enterprise with the use of selected digital technologies with particular emphasis on artificial intelligence. Design/methodology/approach: Basic research methods include critical analysis of literature. Simulation models of the stock market game using deep learning were also used. In addition, intensive computational experiments were carried out to analyze the quality of the solutions, which were determined by the proposed deep learning methods using artificial neural networks based on short-term memory (LSTM). The research presented in this article was verified by simulating the possibility of using deep learning. Findings: The results exceeded the estimates described in the literature. The average error is estimated to be less than 3% when using the LSTM network. It should therefore be assumed that other deep learning paradigms will also be an effective tool in financial systems. The results of theoretical research and numerical experiments confirmed that the impact of selected digital technologies on the improvement of the accounting information system supporting decision-making processes is significant. Practical implications: The results are the basis for formulating recommendations regarding the possibility of using the analyzed digital technologies in the accounting information system, supporting decision-making processes in the enterprise. They can also serve as an example of the digital transformation of the enterprise accounting information system. Social implications: The obtained results indicate significant opportunities to improve the accounting information system supporting decision-making processes. This situation suggests the need to implement the latest achievements of digital technologies in the accounting information system for the effective collection and processing of a growing amount of data. A clear presentation, ongoing monitoring and precise prediction of future results are the basis for making effective decisions based on precise data analysis, and not based on intuition or experience of the decision maker. Originality/value: The authenticity of the study results stems from the clear ideas for the effective use of digital technologies, in particular, deep learning with the use of artificial neural networks in the cloud to improve the accounting information system, especially in the field of estimating forecasted values.

Opis:
The first two decades of the 21st century witnessed the emergence of technical and technological solutions that have enabled digital transformations in the global economy. Registration of unstructured data and bringing them together into large datasets have enriched the cognitive process comprising traditional generation of human knowledge and the digital transformation of data into information and then into industrial knowledge. As a result, we obtain augmented knowledge. Yet, robots and bots (i.e., a device which, unlike a robot, is not connected with mechanisms and other peripheral devices) fuelled by technologies collectively referred to as artificial intelligence, primarily by the machine learning technology, are not able to develop wisdom. That is because robots and bots operate only within two dimensions: perception and context, while a human being has his/her autonomous and subjectively defined axiological system, which shapes his/her capacity to make value judgements and generate wisdom. This system is the third dimension in the aquarium with the glass front wall and the remaining three walls carved in stone. It provides stability ensured by a solid foundation of an axiological system that is thousands of years old and has been approved by the entire global community. Subjectivity of value judgements made by individuals and social groups produces a great variety of assessments of available knowledge. That is evidenced, inter alia, by decisions about the use of nuclear energy or decisions regulating free access to personal data and interfering with private life.

The article aims to explain the importance of 5G technology in pursuing power and shaping the international competition between two superpowers: the USA and China. Accordingly, the research focus of this article is to explain how and why 5G technology is being used by China and the U.S. as a key instrument in their growing geopolitical rivalry. The study is framed within the theoretical approach of offensive realism. It is based on the primary assumption that superpowers like China and the United States tend to increase their power not only by expanding their armed forces and territorial conquests but also by using every possible opportunity to do so. The article researches two questions. What is the importance of 5G technology in the rivalry between China and the U.S.? How has the development of communication technologies influenced countries and their ability to shape the international environment? 5G technology is considered more than just the next generation of wireless connectivity, as it goes beyond traditional forms of use and addresses a new category of users. It is a structure intended to facilitate a new category of goods and services: smart cities, autonomous vehicles, automated factories, digital services, and robotization of decision-making processes.

The article presents the role of artificial intelligence technology in shaping international security. This particular technology is an example of modern technological innovation that can exert a transformational effect on international relations by altering the capabilities of states (in Waltz’s terms) and thus the balance of power in the international system. The argumentation is divided into three sections. The first one focuses on the role technology plays in IR theory. The second one presents how artificial intelligence technology works and discusses its four key features for international security. The third section introduces Charles Weiss’ theoretical concept for rendering interactions between technology and the international system and uses this distinction to elaborate on how AI may influence international relations in the future.
