Opis:
The world is constantly changing under the influence of new technologies. Artificial intelligence systems are currently used in many areas of human activity. Such systems are increasingly assigned the tasks of collecting and analysing personal data. The areas successfully using AI include transport, medicine, trade, marketing, and others. The number of these areas increases proportionally with the advancement of technology. We can process vast amounts of data and analyse it using IA. It is, of course, big data that sits at the heart of AI. As computing systems generally have grown in power and capacity, data consumption has grown exponentially.

Opis:
In today’s society, Artificial Intelligence is continuously evolving, with remarkable speed and it has a considerable impact on the community as a whole, starting with medicine, education, industry, and it affects communication in human relations. Once one can no longer deny this technological advancement with many implications on our lives, a new topic of discussion and academic research arises: to what extent will it be necessary to redefine the parameters of communication and the relationships between the individual, the group, the society, and the Artificial Intelligence. The present research tackles several problematic aspects related to AI in the present and some that may arise in the near future when robots will probably become a commodity. First, the author will investigate the communication relationship between AI and the individual, now, given the fact that the excessive use of technology recalibrates and reformulates the way one perceives and envisages the harmony and the efficiency of the communication process. Second, the connection between AI and ethics is another topic of high interest now, and even though the flourishing development of AI supposedly has as a mission the benefit of humankind, many ethical dilemmas keep arising and feed collective social anxiety, while no satisfying and consistent solutions seem to be found. Globalisation and technological progress mark another turning point for contemporary society, which witnesses an unforeseen academic impasse of knowledge, meaning that it is prone to reconfigure stable academic disciplines and to estimate the emergence of new ones, dictated by post-contemporary global necessities. For example, the ethics of robots or AI has high chances to become a well-established academic discipline soon, given the present turbulent and dynamic technological context, constantly shaping humanity’s life. Considering the future implications of ethical and communication nature becomes a stringent necessity even at its earliest stages, not only for researchers of various departments and ethics committees but also for governments, corporations, and other industry branches. Therefore, creating and engraving a culture of social responsibility towards AI represents one of the most difficult challenges of our times, and finding the balance will make the difference between utopia and dystopia, where AI is a miracle... or an evil.

Reducing the physical and mental weariness of drivers is significant in improving healthy and safe driving. This paper is aim to predict the stress level of drivers while braking in various conditions of the track. By discovering the drivers’ mental stress level, we are able to safely and comfortably adjust the distance in relation to the vehicle ahead. The initial step used was a study related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Electroencephalogram (EEG), safe distance in braking, and the theory of mental stress. The data was collected by doing a direct measurement of drivers’stress levels using the EEG tool. The respondents were 5 parties around 30-50 years old who had experience in driving for> 5 years. The research asembled 400 pieces of data about braking including the data of the velocity before braking, track varieties (cityroad, rural road, residential road, and toll road), braking distance, stress level (EEG), and focus (EEG). The database constructed was used to input the machine learning (AI) – Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) in order to predict the drivers’ mental stress level. Referring to the data collection, each road type gave a different value of metal stress and focus. City road drivers used an average velocity of 23.24 Km/h with an average braking distance of 11.17 m which generated an average stress level of 53.44 and a focus value of 45.76.Under other conditions, city road drivers generated a 52.11 stress level, the rural road = 48.65, and 50.23 for the toll road. BPNN Training with 1 hidden layer, neuron = 17, ground transfer function, sigmoid linear, and optimation using Genetic Algorithm (GA) obtained the Mean Square Error (MSE) value = 0.00537. The road infrastructure, driving behavior, and emerging hazards in driving took part in increasing the stress level and concentration needs of the drivers. The conclusion may be drawn that the available data and the chosen BPNN structure were appropriate to be used in training and be utilized to predict drivers’ focus and mental stress level. This AI module is beneficial in inputting the data to the braking car safety system by considering those mental factors completing the existing technical factor considerations.

Research background: This article discusses how artificial intelligence (AI) is affecting workers' personal and professional lives, because of many technological disruptions driven by the recent pandemic that are redefining global labor markets. Purpose of the article: The objective of this paper is to develop a systematic review of the relevant literature to identify the effects of technological change, especially the adoption of AI in organizations, on employees’ skills (professional dimension) and well-being (personal dimension). Methods: To implement the research scope, the authors relied on Khan's five-step methodology, which included a PRISMA flowchart with embedded keywords for selecting the appropriate quantitative data for the study. Firstly, 639 scientific papers published between March 2020 to March 2023 (the end of the COVID-19 pandemic according to the WHO) from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases were selected. After applying the relevant procedures and techniques, 103 articles were retained, which focused on the professional dimension, while 35 papers were focused on the personal component. Findings & value added: Evidence has been presented highlighting the difficulties associated with the ongoing requirement for upskilling or reskilling as an adaptive reaction to technological changes. The efforts to counterbalance the skill mismatch impacted employees' well-being in the challenging pandemic times. Although the emphasis on digital skills is widely accepted, our investigation shows that the topic is still not properly developed. The paper's most significant contributions are found in a thorough analysis of how AI affects workers' skills and well-being, highlighting the most representative aspects researched by academic literature due to the recent paradigm changes generated by the COVID-19 pandemic and continuous technological disruptions.

To a large extent, the world has come to embrace digitalization which currently permeates all human endeavors and life. However, the process of digitalizing human beings themselves, making them Transhuman and allowing the integration of the digital into every aspect of our daily life has made life both paradoxically appreciative and problematic as it increases the global nature of humanity and its endeavors, posing threats as well as benefits. Merging Transhumanism (H+) with the Digital Humanities (DH) may minimize those threats but the dual evolving human-technological thoughts have been hoofing at a distance to each other for decades whereas innately they share the same perceptions on the future of the digitalization and human beings. This paper is channeled towards breaking the barriers between the two through the help of the critical comparative lens from the conceptual theoretical framework called Digital Knowledge Integration (DKI) using hypothetic-deductive method of reading two e-literatures: Digital_Humanities by Anne Burdick, Johanna Drucker, Peter Lunenfeld, Todd Presner & Jeffrey Schnapp published in 2012 and The Transhumanist Reader: Classical and Contemporary Essays on the Science. Technology, and Philosophy of Human Future edited by Max More and Natasha Vita-More in 2013 including other literatures as we need them. This research is also aimed at integrating knowledge into singular model and raising scholarly debates on the new development.

Opis:
As with the powerful digitalization of the world in the 21st century, maritime affairs, like all other areas, are facing not only new opportunities, but also new big challenges and problems. From the point of view of the development of new technologies, it seems that everything is possible, for example the bringing of so-called "intelligent ships" and “smart ports” into one global system on base of internet of things and big data applications. However, if to look at the matter further, a number of factors and obstacles may appear which could be major threats to the normal functioning of such a system. While it is clear that systems with such high degree of complexity are even technically vulnerable, it seems to the author of this paper that questions that are no less difficult are in the field of human relations. For example, when ships and ports are becoming more and more "smarter" and need less and less people to intervene in their interactions, who at the end will be responsible for everything that can and definitely will happened at sea or in the port? What about liability of cargo carrier if “carrier” is an autonomous ship without any person on-board during the entire journey? How to ensure cyber security? How to be secured against the risks of so-called artificial intelligence systemic errors? It is possible that only new non-trivial approaches can lead to acceptable results in this area, but what they may be and whether these approaches are possible at all - these questions are still waiting for answers.

This paper explores the use of machine learning and deep learning artificial intelligence (AI) techniques as a means to integrate multiple sensor modalities into a cohesive approach to navigation for autonomous ships. Considered is the case of a fully autonomous ship capable of making decisions and determining actions by itself without active supervision on the part of onboard crew or remote human operators. These techniques, when combined with advanced sensor capabilities, have been touted as a means to overcome existing technical and human limitations as unmanned and autonomous ships become operational presently and in upcoming years. Promises of the extraordinary capabilities of these technologies that may even exceed those of crewmembers for decision making under comparable conditions must be tempered with realistic expectations as to their ultimate technical potential, their use in the maritime domain, vulnerabilities that may preclude their safe operation; and methods for development, integration and test. The results of research performed by the author in specific applications of machine learning and AI to shipping are presented citing key factors that must be achieved for certification of these technologies as being suitable for their intended purpose. Recommendations are made for strategies to surmount present limitations in the development, evaluation and deployment of intelligent maritime systems that may accommodate future technological advances. Lessons learned that may be applied to improve safety of navigation for conventional shipping are also provided.

The existence of AI-complete problems has led to a growth in research of alternative ways of solving artificial intelligence problems, which are not based solely on the computer. Although for us communication is obvious, there is still no way automate it. The current widely-used approach to solving the problems of NLP is a statistical one, whose success depends on the size of the training corpus. The preparation of a reliable set of data is therefore a key aspect in creating an artificial intelligence statistical system. Due to the involvement of a large number of specialists this is a very time-consuming and expensive process. One promising approache in helping reduce the time and cost of creating a tagged corpus is the use of games with a purpose. The objective of this paper is to present the stages of creating games with a purpose used for obtaining annotated language resources and to discuss its effectiveness. This analysis will be done based on the Wordrobe project, a collection of games created to support the gathering of an annotated corpus of natural language.

Opis:
It has been for several years now that physicians use medical devices based on artificial intelligence (AI) in their professional practice. The use of these tools makes health services more personalized, tailored to the individual characteristics and needs of the patient. There is also a technological possibility for AI systems to provide patients with information regarding their health condition and treatment methods. The use of medical devices equipped with AI creates new types of risk, including the risk of algorithmic error, the risk of cyber-attack, and the risk of algorithmic mismatch (false-positive or false-negative results). Most patients do not know these tools, so not everyone will trust them. Obtaining informed consent from the patient is a necessary condition for any medical intervention. This study attempts to answer the following questions: (1) Is there a legal possibility to provide AI with the ability to inform the patient about their health condition and proposed treatment methods?; (2) Does the unpredictability and opacity of AI behavior affect the scope of information that should be provided to the patient before medical intervention?; (3) What information should the physician provide to the patient for this consent to be considered informed?; (4) Should the patient always be informed that AI was involved in the diagnosis or therapeutic process? The presented study uses comparative law methodology. American, Belgian and German law are analysed. Is there a legal possibility to provide AI with the ability to inform the patient about his health condition and proposed treatment methods? Opis:
Background: The continuous development of artificial intelligence (AI) and increasing rate of adoption by software startups calls for governance measures to be implemented at the design and development stages to help mitigate AI governance concerns. Most AI ethical design and development tools mainly rely on AI ethics principles as the primary governance and regulatory instrument for developing ethical AI that inform AI governance. However, AI ethics principles have been identified as insufficient for AI governance due to lack of information robustness, requiring the need for additional governance measures. Adaptive governance has been proposed to combine established governance practices with AI ethics principles for improved information and subsequent AI governance. Our study explores adaptive governance as a means to improve information robustness of AI ethical design and development tools. We combine information governance practices with AI ethics principles using ECCOLA, a tool for ethical AI software development at the early developmental stages. Aim: How can ECCOLA improve its robustness by adapting it with GARP® IG practices? Methods: We use ECCOLA as a case study and critically analyze its AI ethics principles with information governance practices of the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping principles (GARP®). Results: We found that ECCOLA’s robustness can be improved by adapting it with Information governance practices of retention and disposal. Conclusions: We propose an extension of ECCOLA by a new governance theme and card, # 21.

Opis:
Biznes odgrywa dominującą rolę w rozwoju produktów i usług wykorzystujących sztuczną inteligencję.
Business plays a dominant role in the development of products and services based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The challenge is to ensure that products and services based on AI are ethical. The difficulty in dealing with this task stems from the facts that: a. the process of development is not transparent; b. companies do not always want to take part in discussionson the ethics of artificial intelligence and adhere to its results; c. the novelty of the issue causes that the results of these discussions do not arise quickly and are not practical. The aim of the article is to indicate the difficulty of conducting research on the ethics of AI developed by business. The article has been synthetically presented in what way business responds to ethical challenges brought about by the phenomenon of development of AI. The answer to these challenges was also given by the High-Level Working Group appointed by the European Commission to develop a code of artificial intelligence.

We, as humans appropriated science. A scientist is associated only with a human being. It doesn't have to stay that way. Non-protein scientists may appear sooner than expected. We will be challenged soon. A new legal and ethical code will be needed, and above all, a redefinition of the concepts of science and scientist seems to be urgent to formulate. The appearance of superintelligence and machines in science will mean the need to re-evaluate its operation. Let's start noticing the law of artificial intelligence (AI), to build inclusive science with machines.

Opis:
Wynika to przede wszystkim z braku jasnej i precyzyjnej definicji samej inteligencji. Obecnie istnieją dwa podejścia do zagadnień sztucznej inteligencji. Perspektywa powstania inteligentnych maszyn mogących samodzielnie myśleć i podejmować decyzje, wprowadza niepokój wśród ludzi.
The term „artificial intelligence”, despite its commonness, cannot be easily defined. It primarily results from the lack of clear and precise definition of intelligence itself. There were many different attempts of defining it. The term „artificial intelligence” was put forward and defined for the first time by John McCarthy in 1955. Currently, there are two approaches towards the issues related to artificial intelligence. The first approach, the so-called Strong AI (Artificial Intelligence), and the second approach – Weak AI. The interest in AI issues of many different research centers all over the world has brought concrete results that are now practically and commonly applied. Nowadays, „artificial intelligence” is becoming more and more popular and applicable. The rapid development of electronics and computer science is conducive for the development of this discipline. Human beings need “intelligent machines” to create and discover new relationships in the world; therefore, AI starts to reach new disciplines such as medicine, economy or management. Artificial intelligence is one of the most interesting trends in the development of computer science, which absorbs great amount of human zeal and the most advanced achievements of computer engineering. Algorithms, heuristics, genetic algorithms, expert systems, artificial neural networks, and fuzzy logic come within the scope of artificial intelligence. The prospect of the emergence of intelligent machines, which could think and make decisions independently, worries people. Currently, the hazardous usage of this technology, which could lead to a catastrophe, cannot be ruled out. The same situation occurs when it comes to nuclear power. It seems that these worries concerning considerable limitation of the significance of the human factor are off base, and as long as there are not any premises that people would ever be able to create a machine which is not only intelligent, but also conscious and individual, such worries are also unjustified.

Opis:
Purpose – Manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have already noticed the tangible benefits offered by artificial intelligence (AI). Several approaches have been proposed with a view to support them in the processes entailed in this innovation path. These include multisided platforms created to enable the connection between SMEs and AI developers, making it easier for them to network each other. While such platforms are complex, they facilitate simultaneous interaction with several stakeholders and reaching out to new potential users (both SMEs and AI developers), through a collaboration with supporting ecosystems such as digital innovation hubs (DIHs). Design/methodology/approach – Mixed methods were used. The literature review was performed to identify the existing approaches within and outside the manufacturing domain. Computer-assisted telephonic (in-depth) interviewing, was conducted to include perspectives of AI platform stakeholders and collect primary data from various European countries. Findings – Several challenges and barriers for AI platform stakeholders were identified alongside the corresponding best practices and guidelines on how to address them. Originality/value – An effective approach was proposed to provide support to the industrial platform managers in this field, by developing guidelines and best practices on how a platform should build its services to support the ecosystem.
