Opis:
Aim/purpose – The study delves into the creation and the experience of interactive children’s narratives based on poetry, examining the emerging role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a collaborative partner in storytelling for children. The research questions are: 1) What are the experiences of readers, specifically children’s guardians, with interactive narratives based on children’s poetry?; 2) How do children’s guardians experience interactive stories co-generated in real-time through conversations with artificial intelli-gence?; 3) Is it feasible to create a satisfying narrative for children from a specific set of images through the use of AI technology? Design/methodology/approach –This paper synthesizes findings from the following studies: a) Qualitative analysis of interactive narratives based on Stanisław Jachowicz’s poems, involving a comprehensive online questionnaire survey, with 80 respondents participating in the latest study; b) An evaluative study focused on real-time interactions with AI-generated interactive narratives based on Stanisław Jachowicz’s poems. This involved 12 participants who provided detailed feedback on their experience; c) An autoethnographic study exploring the creative process of generating children’s narratives from a set of images using AI. Findings – The findings from the exploratory studies suggested that interactive narratives based on poetry would be beneficial for education and the promotion of reading. The interactive narrative can be simply designed (simple mechanics, simple options) and nevertheless, it can evoke a positive user experience. The constructs of telepresence and player agency apply not only to the interactive narrative and the poem that serves as its foundation. The evaluation of the interactive narrative generated by ChatGPT was positive, both as real-time interactive storytelling experienced by the reader with AI and as the interactive narrative created based on a set of images. In the process of generating interactive narratives during real-time interactions, ensuring safety, reliability, and trustworthiness for children is a crucial aspect. Research implications/limitations – The research suggests that educational organizations can benefit from introducing interactive narratives based on poetry into children’s curricula. Furthermore, artificial intelligence can be effectively utilized in creating such content, both in the form of traditional interactive narratives presented to children and in real-time interactions with AI. However, it is also important for organizations to develop tools for monitoring children’s safety. Originality/value/contribution – This paper sheds light on the reader’s experience with interactive narratives based on poetry and highlights the transformative impact of AI on reading and writing in children’s literature, emphasizing how significantly the roles of writers and readers have changed with the introduction of AI. The swift evolution of artificial intelligence raises concerns that vital literary participants – including authors, researchers, publishers, and readers – may not grasp the essential skills and knowledge for utilizing AI. This paper can be helpful for these groups as it provides clues on how to produce good prompts, leading to the creation of children’s narratives.

A retrospective review of the development of paper home decorations – paper cuttings – is submitted in the article. They have been taking a bright place in folk art of Ukraine from the late 19th century till nowadays. Earlier the peasants have made various decorations out of paper for own homes mainly before great holidays, ornamenting icon corner, stove, windows, walls, ceiling, shelves, etc. with traditional compositions. Ukrainian scholars started studying home paper decor in the late 19th century. They continue research is continued nowadays. The activation and decline of the paper cuttings development have depended on historical conditions, social trends, and also the activities of separate craftsmen and researchers during all periods. The paper cuttings have acquired an equal appreciation with the articles of other kinds of the Visual Arts in the artistic space of Ukraine during the last decades owing to the works of professional artists. At present Ukrainian paper cuttings are well-known not only among the compatriots but they are popular and estimated worldwide.

Museari is an online museum dedicated to upholding human rights and sexual diversity through art, history, and education. Museari was born in 2015 and since then more than 70 exhibitions have been presented. This paper analyzes Museari's interest in teacher training, something that has been especially positive during the Covid-19 pandemic. The objective of the research is to reflect on the opportunity to use a virtual museum to address issues of art and education. For data collection, we used assessment instruments specific to the case study, such as diagnoses, discussions, focus groups, and participant observation. We highlight museum’s positive reception by the students, particularly the role it plays in overcoming stereotypes and conventional taboos to achieve inclusive environments.

The article analyses the agency of transgression and transcendence at the domain level. It characterizes the specificity of this process and points to factors that influence its intensification (especially the development of digital technologies). The text presents the effects of this process – the impact on the way cultural texts and their structures exist. The article examines the rhetorical dimension of a trans-disciplinary nature, the effect of which is the creation of trans-disciplinary texts. It proves the thesis that in the interaction between disciplines a structural explosion takes place, which leads to the creation of new textual figures and structures and the formation of new types of texts. These issues are illustrated using specific examples of trans-disciplinary texts.

Opis:
The article is an explanation of the method of examining the modern phenomenon of linking the artist with a work of art. Such approach is most often the result of an attempt to control the reception of one’s own creation, to create a discourse on one’s own art. The title ‘artist as a text’ is a construction in which a work of art, self-commentary and elements of the artist’s biography intertwine to create a network of relations between these different types of messages. This suggests a situation of a direct message, an impression that the viewer is communicating with the backstage of the creation of the work, and thus directly with the artist himself. This is especially important in modern art, which is programmatically innovative – to the extent that the recipient is faced with the necessity to create a way of reception. The applied method is mainly based on the example of theatrical artists (because they often place themselves in a work of art even iconically), but it can be useful for examining artists from other fields of art.

This article focuses on the question of the involvement of contemporary artists in the public debate concerning boundary issues relating to migration and the treatment of immigrants. The aim of this essay is to take a closer look at some of their strategies for making the boundary issue more visible and their ability to draw our attention to the situation of excluded minorities, such as “clandestines” and refugees. The object of the study is, in particular, the way in which these artists address the question of the international migration process in the modern “open”, “ostensibly borderless” world, and the socio-political problems it generates. The effect of the border-crossing experience on the life of an immigrant, the image attached to him or her by the “host” society, as well as the artistic reflections on EU institutions and the hospitality of contemporary European societies are also included in the author’s analysis.

Sound art is a term used to classify works which incorporate sound as the main artistic means of communication with the audience. If we look at the presence of sound in art from a historical viewpoint, our attention can be drawn by Cabaret Voltaire and the performances of Dadaist on its stage. Sound became also an element of performances, and constituted an integral part of many of them. However, it only accompanied the artworks and was not an independent object of art. The text focuses on materiality which is an integral part of Sergei Tcherepin’s sound artworks. In his artworks, a material object and sound constitute a specific unity.

The article analyses the process of workshops and the staging of the performance Room of absentees (Pokój nieobecnych) directed by Joanna Pawlik within the framework of Cricoteka otwarta in collaboration with people (artists and non-artists) with and without disabilities. The article is based on the author’s participant observation. She analyses it in relation to many theories, such as participatory art, devised theatre, disability studies, art by artists with disabilities, art therapy, and crip time. The author shows how the same working conditions affect differently people with different bodies or senses, and how the rules have to be changed in the process to accommodate different needs. The relationship between the institutional framework and the status of the artist is also one of the topics. The article ends with a call for establishing an institution where Joanna Pawlik could work with her team on a regular basis rather than from project to project.

The focus of research in the field of literature for children and youth on objects results from post‑humanistic methodologies and brings about interesting results. Objects play different roles in children’s texts, just as they play different roles in the works of artists, for instance Tadeusz Kantor and Joanna Rajkowska. By interpreting literary texts and works of art, I try to show that the representations of objects from both areas are similar and can serve to the aim of children’s aesthetic education.

Opis:
According to scholars of literary sociology, US arts institutions—from the federal government to the writers’ colony to the creative writing program—have been central to the shaping of US literature for the better part of a century. This paper offers a preliminary investigation of the global crowdfunding platform Kickstarter as an emerging arts institution. Drawing on Kim Stanley Robinson and Marina Abramović’s artistic collaboration as a case study, the paper argues that the appearance of the Marina Abramović Institute (MAI) in Robinson’s novel New York 2140 troubles the author’s stated generic commitments to “realist speculative fiction”—fiction that bases its vision of the future on the state of things in our present. In addition to furnishing uncertain conditions of production for the novel, Kickstarter’s funding model solicits short-form speculative fiction organized around neoliberal selfhood from its artists. With the assistance of Kickstarter’s networked platform, the MAI’s capital campaign reimagined private funding as public performance art, as dutiful civic engagement, and as reward for artists willing to narrate entrepreneurial optimism.

The summer academy “Art History in the Cold War. Methods, scope of interests, systems of value” was organised by The Humboldt University of Berlin at The Herder Institute in Marburg on 7–14 September 2014 within the international research project “Asymmetrical art history? Research and mediation of ‘precarious’ monuments in the Cold War” chaired by Prof. Michaela Marek. The project is focused on analyses of art history texts written in East Central Europe in the time of Cold War. There were seven research coordinators and twelve participants from nine countries (The Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Ukraine). The summer academy became a forum for exchange of concepts between representatives of various disciplines – history, art and architecture history, philosophy and cultural studies. The main elements of the summer academy were topic sections that based on the knowledge of the texts which had been sent in earlier (“What is Marxist art history?”, “Programmatic character of art history after the communists’ takeover”, “Sacral buildings. Religion – power – form?”, “Italy as a starting point – significance of Italian roots”, “Histories of artists – strategic personalisation?”). The schedule of the summer academy also appointed time for group work based on archive and library sources accessible within the place. A few visiting lectures were also held in the evenings. During the last day recapitulation an attempt to analysing relations among the researchers and their mutual influence, access at translations of specialist reading, decontextualisation of monuments, and unappreciated role of popular scientific publications and exhibitions in shaping our image of Baroque occurred to be the most important issues.
