Opis:
The contribution deals with selected questions of the interaction between the so called “lexical aspect” (the opposition between telicity and atelicity) and the grammatical aspect (or so called “viewpoint”- aspect, i.e. the opposition between perfectivity and imperfectivity) in the languages with and without the overtly encoded aspect. The striking point of the analysis is the “complexive” meaning of aspectual forms and constructions involving lexical atelicity by indicating durativity or iterativity, on the one hand, and grammatical perfectivity by indicating the complexive perspective of the verbal action on the other. This type of aspectuality was a special feature of verbal systems with the aorist category. My claim is, thus, that the contemporary English has a special grammatical form of the “complexive aorist”, i.e. the form of Present Perfect Progressive. The Slavic languages encode this function by using the – unmarked – imperfective forms of the verbs, whereas German uses special means of encoding the very same function on the whole-clause level, such as adverbials or definite vs. indefinite or zero article.

An analysis of examples of the past perfect tense composed of a singular and plural past tense participle and an aorist form of the ‘to be’ verb in the singular third person form used as an auxiliary word is given in the article. The author, referring to the research of W.R. Rzepka, presents three consecutive examples from the mediaeval court oaths, where the aorist by has the meaning of ‘był’ (past form of the to be verb in Polish).

Opis:
The main task of this paper has been to investigate the ways of combining tense forms in folk lyric poetry. The concept of folk lyric poetry in this case refers to the oriental-style love-song, the folk love song which was created with the advent of the eastem Islamie culture into the Slavic south, mostly among the part of the population which accepted the Islam. In terms of context, oriental-style love-songs are a shorter kind of songs, of about ten verse lines on average. Even though the texts in ąuestion are fairly short, they include multiple combinations of the tense forms employed. That is primarily due to the way of presenting their verbal content. The author has proved that the present tense form is the most frequent in this poetry. Why that is so and how its main function is realised are the issues treated in this paper. The author proves there is no oriental-style love-song belon- ging to verbless poetry, that all the songs were composed with the use of two, or usually morę tense forms. The most frequent are the combinations of the present and past tenses, the latter most often expressed by the perfect tense and the aorist. Morę rarely the futurę tense form is involved too.

Opis:
In this paper the author is dealing with combinations of tense forms in Serbian folk epic poetry and he statistically proves that the present tense is the predominant tense form in this kind of Serbian folk poetry. He is trying to discover the main reasons for such use of the present tense. As regards combinations of tense forms in Serbian folk epic poetry, they are rather free and depend, primarily, on the manner of presenting the epic content and on the length of the poem, but there is above all a certain regularity resulting in firm systems.

Opis:
This paper belongs to a cycle of studies on the Polish language in Kiev. It draws on to Zofia Kurzowa’s publication, which revised some opinions on the temporal and geographic ranges of aorist and the conditional that was formed by analogy from -bych, -bychmy. The sources here are Polish prints edited by Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. On their basis past and conditional forms have been presented, the cohesion of enclitical elements with various parts of speech and determinants of the grammatical person. Such data confirmed Kurzowa’s thesis that forms of the type robilichmy (we were doing) robilibychmy (we would do) were used much longer than only until the beginnings of the seventeenth century. What is more, they were well-known not only in the kind of Polish that was spoken in Małopolska region.
