- The article tells about the creation of the dictionary of names reflecting the onomastic material of the Belarusian-Polish borderlands in the following aspects: composition, frequency and name variants of the Belarusian-Polish Borderlands recorded in the late XIX – early XXI centuries. For frequent names functional characteristic is given: etymological analysis, information related to the history of the emergence of a name in Russian, Belarusian and Polish lists of names, the factors influencing the popularity or rarity of the name are noted. The peculiarity of the dictionary is the reflection in it of the linguo-cultural background of frequent names, which includes: a folklore name, characters of literary and artistic works, famous bearers of the name. It is planned that the dictionary will be made in the format of an electronic dictionary and placed in the Internet space.
