ABC/XYZ classification of material items
database - Opis:
- The idea of database for sale historical data analysis is presented in this paper. General description of material items classification using ABC/XYZ methods is also included. The main idea was to create open tool to enable fast data analysis. As a result, the logic scheme was developed and also implementation in MS Access 2010. Presented module includes: set of needed tables, user interface and many SQL queries and VBA macros. The structure of developed database is ready to test on any example. For testing purpose, the virtual company was defined, which produce the mix of velocity reducers. Into database was entered data about 38 products and 234 items (materials, parts). Moreover, author developed special VBA procedure which allows to random generation of sale historical data. In this procedure is possible to define: the range of dates (including work system, holidays etc.), the number of customers, the number of products, customer order details etc. Using this procedure, the sale historical data was generated including 5.5 years from 2008 till 2013. Example data analysis of sale in 2012 is also presented. By the set of cascade SQL queries the following results are generated automatically (based on recorded customer orders): daily quantity aggregation of products and its parts usage, weekly and monthly quantity aggregation of material items (parts) usage, ABC classification, XYZ classification. The database was tested also on real examples from industry. The simply design, easy adaptability to other tasks, fast data processing are the most advantages of developed database.
