Opis:
The efficiency of energy conversion of aerobic metabolism to external work is of great importance to sports exercise. Despite this fact, gross efficiency (GE) is not commonly used as a parameter in the assessment of cyclists’ exercise ability. It is also known that road cyclists traverse most of their route at a work intensity below the anaerobic threshold (AT). We tried to examine the relationship between the standard aerobic parameters used for defining the endurance of cyclists and GE, measured just below the anaerobic threshold. Fifty cyclists were subjected to a progressive test. Work done and the basic respiratory and circulatory parameters were measured. Gross efficiency was calculated at work intensity just below AT. We observed a very low correlation (R = –0.137) between GE (24.9 ±2.06) and maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) – 63.8 ±6,27 ml × kg–1 × min–1. The strongest correlation (R = –0.258) was recorded between GE and the percentage of maximal oxygen consumption (58.9 ±7.0%) for the load prior to the occurrence of the anaerobic threshold. The weak, but existing correlation between GE and selected respiratory and circulatory parameters may suggest that GE provides unique and independent information about the examined athletes.

Opis:
Triathlon is dev eloping very quickly nowadays. In our paper we are interested in cross triathlon. The road bike is replaced by the mtb mountain bike and the run is also done in the mountain. Triathlon is the endurance kind of sport where the AeT’s (aerobical threshold) a nd AnT’s (anaerobical threshold) level is the basic indicator of a sports performance. The curve of the both thresholds changes under the influence of a lot of factors during the year. We studied the influence of the running preparation on the aerobic and anaerobic threshold at the cross triathlon specialist during one year. We monitored the level, especially the changes in the sports performance during the ATC (annual training cycle). We valued the training proccess, the quantization of the training load and its influence on the triathlet’s performance with the intraindividual analysis. We gained the necessary data from the training diary and with help of the tests realized in the laboratory conditions .We detected the speed at the aerobic and anaerobic thr eshold by the running belt. Then we corelated them with the training parameters and we found out the addaction. We followed their actual influence on the performace and the influence of the training paramaters in the time intervals.

Opis:
The Conconi Test (CT) is an incremental exercise test characterized by stages of equal intensity. For analysis speed (S) and HR (heart rate) are used. The deflection point of the HR/S graph marks the point where the linear relation between S and HR changes to a curvilinear one. As Conconi stated HR at deflection point represents anaerobic threshold (AT) value. Purpose of this study was to extend our previous research dealing with reliability and validity aspects of CT. Material and Methods: During 10 years (2007-2017) we tested 2 500 subjects using Conconi protocol. Tested were mainly football players and smaller number of runners (long distance and cross country) different ages and fitness level. Some subjects were tested repeatedly during the years. Initial speed of the running treadmill test was determined in the range of 10 to 12 km·h-1, according subjects age and fitness level. Speed was increased gradually every 150 m of 0.5 km·h-1 to the maximum speed when further increases were impossible. HR was recorded at every 150 meters. From a graphical representation dependence HR on increasing running speed we tried to find apparent diversion from the curve of linearity, labeled by Conconi as "deflection point" (DP). Simultaneously respiration values were recorded. From these respiration data we determined the ventilatory threshold (VT2) as a metabolic marker of the onset of blood lactate accumulation. Results: We found 6 types of response HR to increasing speed. a) regular DP; b) linear regression r ≥ 0.98 - no DP; c) linear regression r < 0.98 - no DP; d) inversion character of deflection point; e) DP not corresponding with value of ANP; f) more than one DP. As an AT predictor compared with VT2, Conconi test overestimated this value (0.5 km·h-1). Conclusion: Using of Conconi test as a predictor of ANP has a limitation. ANP values determined by CT are overestimated (0.5 km·h-1). Test stability of CT is very low and there is evidence that DP is not 100% repeated physiology phenomena.

Opis:
The study aimed to assess the total covered distance during a match, performance volume below and above the anaerobic threshold, as well as characterize physical activities of professional Bundesliga goalkeepers during soccer matches. 34 goalkeepers (606 observations) from all eighteen Bundesliga teams, who played in the 2014/2015 season were considered for the study. The performance of goalkeepers was analyzed with the use of the VIS.TRACK system. The variables measured included: total covered distance [km] in the whole match, the first half, and the second half; distance covered below and above the anaerobic threshold (4 m • s–1) [km]; and distance covered in six intensity ranges [km]. The total distance covered by the goalkeepers was 5.48 ±0.56 km. The distance covered by goalkeepers below the anaerobic threshold was 5.28 ±0.52 km, whereas the distance covered above the anaerobic threshold amounted to 0.21 ±0.09 km. The ratio between the goalkeepers’ volumes of aerobic and anaerobic performance was 25:1. The total distance covered by goalkeepers in match play and the distances covered by goalkeepers below and above the anaerobic threshold (96.17% and 3.83%, respectively) indicate that during a match the goalkeepers undertake predominantly aerobic exercises.

Opis:
Lactate threshold (LT) estimation in endurance sports continues to be a widely controversial field amongst sports scientists and students despite beyond 50 years of research. With the advent of technology and superior sensors, LT research has ventured into newer fields involving wearables and artificial intelligence. Still, there is a felt need to understand the focused areas of LT research and to guide the students, sports scientists and coaches. The main aim of this mini-review is to identify research categories in a descriptive manner and to synthesize broad themes for future research from latest literature. A comprehensive electronic search in three databases was performed including only original free full text research articles conducted in athletes and heathy subjects, published in English between 2016 and 2020 following PRISMA guidelines. Out of screened 466 articles, 14 articles were finally shortlisted as per inclusion criteria and the findings were summarized. Five research categories were identified and reviewed. To conclude, there is a need for consensus in Graded Exercise test protocols used, LT concepts validity for specific sports and the application of valid, reliable noninvasive LT estimation methods in endurance sports. Synthesized broad themes would help guide sports scientists, students and researchers for future research.

Opis:
In modern endurance training information about an athlete’s performance below and above the anaerobic threshold is crucial. The aim of the present study was a comparative analysis of the total distance covered by football players in two rounds of the 2013/1014 playing season. Furthermore, the study also assessed the performance of elite Bundesliga players during competitive matches, above and below the running speed of 4 m·s –1, corresponding to the level of anaerobic threshold (AT). The players’ mean body height was 183.00 ±6.44 cm, body mass 78.19 ±7.42 kg, and mean age was 27.99 ±3.47 years. The analysis was carried using the Impire AG motion analysis system on the basis of official match reports from the Deutscher Fußball-Bund (DFB). The study revealed that the total distance covered by the players in match-play was significantly shorter in the second round of the playing season. The distance covered by the players below the AT is significantly shorter in the spring round than in the autumn round, while the distance covered above the AT shows a reverse, although non-significant tendency. In the spring round the volume of players’ work performed above the anaerobic threshold is greater than the volume of exercise performed below the AT.

Opis:
The aim of the work was to assess the intensity of purine nucleotide degradation during maximum physical exercise. 5 elite female boxers were the subject of the study. Each of them underwent two exercise stress tests in order to evaluate the level of V̊O2peak and the level of anaerobic capacity during a Wingate test. The study involved collecting capillary and venous blood samples at rest and after the exercise test to determine the Acid-Base Balance (ABB), concentration of lactic acid (LA) and purine metabolism nucleotides. The average value of V̊O2peak was 40.92 (SD = 4.087) ml/kg/min, the average anaerobic capacity Ppeak was 7.57 (SD = 0.380) Watt/kg. The workload resulted in significant changes in the level of ABB and LA after both of the exercise stress tests (p < 0.001). Concentrations of hypoxanthine (Hx), xanthine (X) and uric acid (UA) in the blood increased significantly after the Wingate test (p < 0.05). The level of plasma purine nucleotides at rest and after standard exercise may be a useful tool for monitoring the adaptation of energetic processes in different training phases and support the overload diagnosis.
