Opis:
The tribological properties of the nitride layer applied to the low-alloyed steel were investigated in this research. Experimental work included determination if the chemical composition, wear resistance, Rockwell, Vickers and nano-indentation tests, both of the substrate material – the low-alloyed steel and the deposited nitride layer. From the results obtained in those experiments authors concluded that applying the nitride layer does not significantly improve the tribological properties of the tested lowalloyed steel samples, thus this process is not recommended for achieving that purpose.

Opis:
The austenitic stainless steels are a group of alloys normally used under high mechanical and thermal requests, in which high temperature oxidation is normally present due to oxygen presence. This study examines the oxide layer evolution for Fe24Cr12NiXNb modified austenitic stainless steel A297 HH with 0,09%Nb and 0,77%Nb content at 900°C under atmospheric air and isothermal oxidation. The modifiers elements such as Mo, Co and Ti, added to provide high mechanical strength, varied due to the casting procedure, however main elements such as Cr, Ni, Mn and Si were kept at balanced levels to avoid microstructure changing. The oxide layer analysis was performed by confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The elemental analysis of the different phases was measured with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The Nb-alloyed steel generated a thicker Cr oxide layer. Generally elemental Nb did not provide any noticeable difference in oxide scale growth, for the specific range of Nb amount and temperature studied. High temperature oxidation up to 120h was characterized by protective Cr oxidation, after this period a non-protective Fe-based oxidation took place. Cr, Fe and Ni oxides were observed in the multilayer oxide scale.

Opis:
Low-alloy Cr-Mn-Ni-Mo cast steels and high-alloy manganese cast steels are frequently use as castings in such areas as mineral industry and power industry. Melting technology of these steels is often based on the use the return-scrap in charge, because the prices of nickel and molybdenum are very high. Basic eleetric are furnaces were used in the oxidation remelting of high manganese and Iow alloyed Cr-Mn-Ni-Mo steel scraps. The measuring of bath temperature and chemical eomposition were realized for control of C, P and Cr oxidation rates. This article shows effect of two methods of carbon boil, used in remelting technology: first is carbon oxydation by iron ore and second is oxygen-blowing. The results of these measurements showed that at the oxygen blowing under the pressure of ca 0,6-0,8 MPa and oxygen capacity of 0,37-0,60 Nm3/(min·Mg), the average value of decarburisation rate is 1,03-2,08% C/h, according the temperature of the bath. In the same condition of oxidation, the dephosphorisation rate in Cr-Mn-Ni-Mo is 0-0,12% P/h. It was shown that the temperatures above 1620 degrees C protected steel bath against high chromium losses. At these temperatures the average value of phosphor oxidation rate is 0,070% P/hour.
Do przetapiania złomu stali stopowej metodą odzyskowo-tlenową stosowano zasadowe piece łukowe. W celu określenia parametrów utleniania węgla, chromu i fosforu wykonywano pomiary temperatury kąpieli i analizy składu chemicznego. W tych samych warunkach uzyskano szybkość utleniania fosforu 0-0,13% P/h. Wysoka temperatura świeżenia powyżej 1620 stopni C zabezpiecza przed dużymi stratami chromu, i zapewnia średnią szybkość utleniania fosforu 0,070% P/h.

Opis:
The results of mechanical properties and microstructure observation of low carbon copper bearing steel with high addition of molybdenum are presented in this paper. This steels were characterized by contents of molybdenum in the range from 1% to 3% wt. After the thermo -mechanical processing the steels were subsequently quenched and tempered at different temperatures (500-800°C) for 1h. The changes of mechanical properties as function of tempering temperature were typical for the steel with the copper addition. The sudden drop of impact resistance after tempering from 575°C to 600°C was caused probably by precipitates of Laves phase of type Fe2Mo.

In according with the stated conception the purpose of the present work is the reconstruction of some of innumerable microstates of α phase of ferritic steels, definition of its macroparameters and their subsequent comparison with indicators of mechanical properties of industrially let out steels. The establishment of a correlation between the measured indicators of mechanical properties of already created materials and the calculated state parameters of their basic phase opens an opportunity of mechanical properties prediction of materials in dependence on their prehistory that as a matter of fact represents the central task of material science. Simulation of α-phase state of series of industrially let out ferritic steels and alloys is executed in the assumption of identity of its composition to composition of steel or alloy as a whole. The correlation between indicators of mechanical properties of steels and alloys and state parameters of their basic phase is traced.

Opis:
The exposed selvedge layers in slabs cast by the continuous process should be free from surface defects, which in most cases appear in the form of cracks on the casting surface and run to its interior. In addition to the parameters of the casting process, the occurrence of such defects depends on the chemical composition of cast steel, on the segregation of surface active elements and formation of the precipitates of carbides, nitrides and other phases. Due to the frequent occurrence of defects in corners of the slabs, non-destructive testing was performed on the mechanically cleaned surfaces of slabs. The test material was low-carbon API(American Petroleum Institute API 5L standard) steel micro alloyed with Nb and Ti designed for the production of pipes to handle gas, oil and other liquid and gaseous fuels. Despite the use of different methods of inspection, i.e. ultrasonic, magnetic particle and penetrant, cracks were not traced in the examined material. Then, from the corners of the examined slabs, specimens were cut out for metallographic examinations. The main purpose of these examinations was to disclose the presence of possible cracks and micro cracks on the surfaces transversal and longitudinal to the direction of casting. At the same time, studies were conducted to establish the number and morphology of non-metallic inclusions in selvedge layers of the slab corners and axis. Additionally, hardness of the slabs was measured. The conducted studies revealed only some minor differences in the slab hardness along its axis (130 ÷ 135 HB) and in selvedge layers (120 ÷ 123 HB).
