Opis:
The paper concerns the problem of decomposition of a large-scale linear dynamic system into two subsystems. An equivalent problem is to split the characteristic polynomial of the original system into two polynomials of lower degrees. Conditions are found concerning the coefficients of the original polynomial which must be fulfilled for its factorization. It is proved that knowledge of only one of the symmetric functions of those polynomials of lower degrees is sufficient for factorization of the characteristic polynomial of the original large-scale system. An algorithm for finding all the coefficients of the decomposed polynomials and a general condition of factorization are given. Examples of splitting the polynomials of the fifth and sixth degrees are discussed in detail.

Opis:
This paper presents a methodology and design of a model-free-based proportional-integral reduced-order observer for a class of nondifferentially flat systems. The problem is tackled from a differential algebra point of view, that is, the state observer for nondifferentially flat systems is based on algebraic differential polynomials of the output. The observation problem is treated together with that of a synchronization between a chaotic system and the designed observer. Some basic notions of differential algebra and concepts related to chaotic synchronization are introduced. The PI observer design methodology is given and it is proven that the estimation error is uniformly ultimately bounded. To exemplify the effectiveness of the PI observer, some cases and their respective numerical simulation results are presented.

Opis:
In this paper, a general existence theorem on the generalized variational inequality problem GVI(T,C,ϕ) is derived by using our new versions of Nikaidô's coincidence theorem, for the case where the region C is noncompact and nonconvex, but merely is a nearly convex set. Equipped with a kind of V₀-Karamardian condition, this general existence theorem contains some existing ones as special cases. Based on a Saigal condition, we also modify the main theorem to obtain another existence theorem on GVI(T,C,ϕ), which generalizes a result of Fang and Peterson.

Opis:
Let X be a Leibniz algebra with unit e, i.e. an algebra with a right invertible linear operator D satisfying the Leibniz condition: D(xy) = xDy + (Dx)y for x,y belonging to the domain of D. If logarithmic mappings exist in X, then cosine and sine elements C(x) and S(x) defined by means of antilogarithmic mappings satisfy the Trigonometric Identity, i.e. $[C(x)]^2 + [S(x)]^2 = e$ whenever x belongs to the domain of these mappings. The following question arises: Do there exist non-Leibniz algebras with logarithms such that the Trigonometric Identity is satisfied? We shall show that in non-Leibniz algebras with logarithms the Trigonometric Identity does not exist. This means that the above question has a negative answer, i.e. the Leibniz condition in algebras with logarithms is a necessary and sufficient condition for the Trigonometric Identity to hold.

Opis:
It is well known that a power of a right invertible operator is again right invertible, as well as a polynomial in a right invertible operator under appropriate assumptions. However, a linear combination of right invertible operators (in particular, their sum and/or difference) in general is not right invertible. It will be shown how to solve equations with linear combinations of right invertible operators in commutative algebras using properties of logarithmic and antilogarithmic mappings. The used method is, in a sense, a kind of the variables separation method. We shall obtain also an analogue of the classical Fourier method for partial differential equations. Note that the results concerning the Fourier method are proved under weaker assumptions than these obtained in [6] (cf. also [7, 8, 11]).
