Opis:
A series of titled chalcones were synthesized by aldol condensation between 2-naphthaldehyde and various substituted acetophenones using solid acidic solid sulphated titania catalyst under microwave irradiation. The yields of these chalcones are more than 90 %. The synthesized chalcones are characterized by their physical constants, analytical and spectroscopic data.

Opis:
In this investigation, the authors predicted the effects of substituents on the functional groups of the titled chalcones using Linear Free Energy Relationship through Hammett equation with its constants and Swain-Lupton parameters. The LFER model statistical analysis was carried out using single and multi-linear regression analysis in MS Office 365 XL package. From the LFER analysis outcome, the influence of substituents on the spectroscopic functionality were discussed with their electronic effects such as, polar, inductive, resonance, field and conjugation. The titled compounds were prepared by solvent-free Aldol-Condensation method. The prepared compounds were characterised by their physical constants, micro analysis and spectroscopic data (FT-IR, NMR and Mass).

Some 2′,4′-difluorophenyl chalcones have been synthesized under microwave irradiation using aldol condensation between 2,4-difluoroacetophenone and substituted benzaldehydes using catalytic amount of hydroxyapatite. The yields of the chalcones are more than 85 %. The purities of these synthesized chalcones were examined by their physical constants and spectroscopic data. The UV absorption maxima (λmax, nm), infrared stretches (ν, cm-1) of CO, fingerprint region of CHip/op, CH=CHop, C=Cop modes, NMR chemical shifts (δ, ppm) of vinyl proton, carbon and carbonyl carbons have been assigned and correlated with Hammett substituent constants, F and R parameters using single and multi-regression analysis. From the statistical analysis the effect of substituent on the above spectral frequencies can be discussed. The antimicrobial activities of these synthesized chalcones have been screened using Bauer-Kirby method.

In this work, an attempt was made to synthesized (E)-1-(2,4-dimethylthiazol-5-yl)-3-phenylprop-2-en-1-one by cross-aldol condensation reaction of 5′-acetyl-2,4-dimethylthiazole with various substituted Benz aldehyde in the presence base (sodium hydroxide). The synthesized (E)-1-(2,4-dimethylthiazol-5-yl)-3-phenylprop-2-en-1-one derivative was characterized by physical constants, UV, FT-IR, 1H-NMR & 13C-NMR spectral data. All the observed spectral data of substituted (E)-1-(2,4-dimethylthiazol-5-yl)-3-phenylprop-2-en-1-one compounds have been correlated with Hammett substituent constants(σ, σ+, σI & σR) and F and R parameters using single and multi-linear regression analyses and studied for their anti-microbial activities and compared with the standard drugs (Ciprofloxacin). Some compound of the series exhibited promising anti-microbial activity compared to standard drugs (Ciprofloxacin).

Opis:
This paper presents methods of the synthesis and applications of biomimetic catalytic systems produced from molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP). MIPs contain cavities, which are complementary to the imprinted template, thus possess high selectivity and affinity for the molecules resembling template. MIPs have various applications such as: sorption, chromatography, solid phase extraction, drugs transport and catalysis. However, this article is a review of catalytic systems containing in their active sides one of the selected metal ions: copper(II), cobalt(II), zinc(II), iron(III) or nickel(II). Presented catalytic systems are used in hydrolysis, oxidations, hydrogenations and aldol condensation reactions. This review deals with papers published till 2013.
