Opis:: Airports, as a component of air transport, combine air transport with other modes of transport to strengthen the transportation accessibility of a place in space, attract investors, and stimulate the development of the area. Taking into account that these issues are less exposed in relation to their immediate surroundings, research was undertaken to determine how representatives of the authorities and residents of communes (taking into account the nature of the communes and the size and location of the airport) perceive airports, located within their communes, in the context of their impact on the socio-economic situation in the communes. This was achieved by analysing the communes' strategic documents and data on the operation of communes and airports from 2016 to 2021. These data were obtained from the Civil Aviation Authority, the Central Statistical Office, the International Air Transport Association, and the International Airports Council. In an effort to better understand the relationship between the airport and the commune in which it is located, poll research was carried out using survey and interview techniques. The research focused on 10 airports spread across Poland. A total of 1,200 surveys were conducted among residents of communes, and 10 interviews were conducted with representatives of local governments and the port. To analyse the collected data and present the results, Statistica v.13.3 and R/RStudio software were used.

Opis:: The dynamic development of the European air transport market is the result of the liberalisation processes that have taken place in the European Union over the last thirty years. The EU’s aviation policy has not only widened the access of carriers to the market, but has also increased competition in the air transport sector as a whole. The article looks at regulations concerning the system of airport charges as a mechanism used by the airport managing body to ensure a competitive position on the market. The analysis covers international, EU and national law on airport charges. ICAO documents concerning commercial activities of airports, which are not legal standards but have to be taken into account due to their importance for the characteristics of the subject of the study, are also discussed.

Opis:: Large PV installations are being built increasingly often in areas close to airports in Poland and around the world. These are not only roof installations but also large PV farms, allowing not only the supply of the energy for the airport itself but also the ability to sell the excess energy produced. The applied PV installations may cause in some cases negative impact in the form of e.g., electromagnetic fields and light reflections which may limit the visibility of pilots and air traffic controllers. The article presents an overview of various negative impacts of PV farms on the workings of an airport and the main factors influencing the occurrence of certain threats have been diagnosed. An assessment of the usefulness of the tool and method for simulation and the reduction of possible negative impacts is also presented.

Opis:: Are regional airports economic effectiveness-oriented? Evidence from Poland Striving for a satisfactory level of effectiveness, managers must take actions aimed at achieving the set objectives and at reacting flexibly to changes that take place in the environment. They can do it by referring to the concept of dynamic capabilities that draw attention to a specific category of competences. Assuming that dynamic capabilities can be developed in any type of organisation, the article attempts to answer the question about the reasons for the differences in economic effectiveness of 13 Polish regional airports and 458 private enterprises. The results suggest that the category of economic effectiveness is important not only for private enterprises but also for regional airports. The findings reveal that the development of dynamic capabilities is conditioned not only by the period of the enterprise’s existence but also by the context of its operation, primarily the industry context.

Opis:: Aim/purpose - Multiple factors affect a passenger's origin and destination airport choice. This study explores some of the leading indicators associated with performance in cities with more than one airport. Two important Multi-Airport Systems (MAS) in Brazil were the object of this study: São Paulo (Congonhas and Guarulhos) and Rio de Janeiro (Santos Dumont and Galeão), the most significant demand-generating centers in the country and the most critical distribution centers of flights from South America. Design/methodology/approach - Using public databases presenting the evolution of supply and demand from 2013 to 2018, the evolution of flights, and the sales by airlines in the same period, we estimated a linear model using panel data on a multiple linear regression with fixed effects. Findings - One of the results observed is that competition between airlines positively affects prices for consumers, the industry, and tourism, which is vital for the country. Research implications/limitations - The limitation of the findings is the lack of current data. Originality/value/contribution - In filling the gap in the literature on the evolution of supply and demand in the Brazilian aviation market, the study evaluates some of the leading indicators associated with performance in cities with more than one airport.

Opis:: Autokorelacja przestrzenna jest to korelacja pomiędzy wartościami tej samej zmiennej w różnych punktach przestrzeni. Metoda ta umożliwia pełniejszą analizę niż tradycyjnie stosowane. Określa struktury przestrzenne i związki między elementami sąsiadującymi ze sobą. Analiza zjawisk przy użyciu tego narzędzia pomocna jest w identyfikacji obszarów, które posiadają odmienne bądź podobne wartości. Dzięki niej możliwa jest ocena i kontrola badanego zjawiska, jak również zidentyfikowanie różnic występujących między obszarami a ich otoczeniem. Podjęta w artykule problematyka miała źródło w tym, że w ostatnim okresie duże znaczenie mają badania w zakresie wpływu transportu lotniczego na regionalne rynki pracy, natomiast w sferze literatury występuje niewielu autorów, którzy podejmują wysiłek badawczy w tym zakresie. Wśród nich pojawiają się nawet stanowiska, że badania z tej dziedziny są jednymi z najważniejszych dla rozwoju regionów. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja metody autokorelacji przestrzennej do określenia stopnia koncentracji i powiązań przestrzennych sytuacji na lokalnych rynkach pracy w powiatach zlokalizowanych na obszarze izochrony Portu Lotniczego Katowice-Pyrzowice. Do analizy wzięto pod uwagę 27 wskaźników charakteryzujących rynek pracy. Okresem badawczym były lata 2011–2015. Źródłem pochodzenia danych są informacje GUS. Otrzymane wyniki pozwoliły ocenić i dostrzec stopień koncentracji sąsiadujących powiatów pod względem przyjętych mierników. W toku badań pozytywnie zweryfikowana została hipoteza badawcza o brzmieniu: powiaty zlokalizowane na obszarze ciążenia badanego obiektu cechują się autokorelacją przestrzenną sytuacji na regionalnych rynkach pracy oraz powodują występowanie nierówności przestrzennych. Charakteryzują się one istotnym statystycznie zróżnicowaniem sytuacji na lokalnych rynkach pracy ze względu na niektóre cechy.
Spatial autocorrelation is the correlation between the values of the same variable at different points in space. This method enables a more complete analysis than is traditionally used as it specifies the spatial structures and relationships between adjacent elements. Analyses of phenomena using this tool is helpful in identifying areas that have different or similar values. Thanks to it, is possible to assess and control the studied phenomenon, as well as identify differences between the areas and their surroundings. The issue discussed in the article stemmed from the fact that recently research on the impact of air transport on regional labour markets has been of great importance. The aim of the article is to present the method of spatial autocorrelation to determine the degree of concentration and spatial connections of the situation on local labour markets in poviats located within the Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport isochrone area. The analysis took into account 27 indicators characterising the labour market. The research period was 2011–2015. In the course of the research, the goal was achieved. The obtained results made it possible to evaluate and notice the degree of concentration of the neighbouring poviats in terms of the adopted measures. In the course of the research, the research hypothesis was positively verified as follows: poviats located in the area of gravity of the examined object are characterised by a spatial autocorrelation of the situation in regional labour markets and cause spatial inequalities.

Opis:: The article is devoted to the analysis of the direct impact of chosen airports on the regional labor markets in Poland. The authors try to answer the following research questions: how the development of the Polish air transport market influenced labor markets in regions? Whether the growing air traffic at Polish airports, particularly regional airports, entails the increase of employment at airports and in companies located at the airports and offering services for air transport? Whether the increase of employment is proportional to the increase in the number of passengers and cargo in the air transport? In the introduction the categories of impact of an airport on regional economy have been described, then the development of the air transport market in Poland after the accession to the EU and direct impact of chosen airports on labor market – employment generated by 5 regional airports, which shared the primary data, i.e. Kraków Airport, Katowice Airport, Wrocław Airport, Bydgoszcz Airport, and Szczecin Airport have been presented. The analysis of the size of employment has been tied with the analysis of changes in the size of air traffic in the examined airports. In the last part of the article these airports have been presented in the background of the biggest employers in the regions from the industry, trade and services sectors.
