    In the study, the authors dealt with the price offer of four air carriers on the Warsaw – Brussels route. There were two traditional carriers (LOT Polish Airlines and Lufthansa) and two low-cost carriers (Ryanair and Wizz Air). The analysis considered changes in the ticket prices for a flight on a specific day over six months. A diversified pricing policy was found. Low-cost carriers and Lufthansa changed prices frequently but to a small extent. On the other hand, the cost of a ticket on Polish airlines was gradually increasing, the fastest in the last month before the flight. To minimize the ticket price at PLL LOT, a reservation had to be made at least three months before the flight. The lowest price of a Lufthansa and Ryanair ticket occurred a month before departure. On the other hand, at Wizz Air, the final price was lower than that offered at the beginning of the study.

    In the paper the study of radio communication system design process for systems based on OFDM transmission is considered. The signal propagation model for 1.4 GHz frequency band is discussed, and the study of signal propagation characteristics, important from the point of view of OFDM system design, is presented. The methodology of OFDM interface design is proposed and some characteristics of the OFDM-based radio communication system are analysed.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza dwóch pierwszych miesięcy funkcjonowania Portu Lotniczego Lublin (PLL) pod kątem skorelowania komunikacji lotniczej, kolejowej i publicznego transportu drogowego. Wnikliwej analizie zostały poddane sygnały prasowe związane z funkcjonowaniem istniejącej siatki połączeń z nowopowstałym lotniskiem. Jakie główne problemy pojawiły się po otwarciu lotniska? Czy infrastruktura lotniskowa, kolejowa i drogowa spełniły swoje zadania? Pasażerowie sygnalizowali problemy z rozkładem pociągów w razie spóźnienia samolotu - czy zostały uwzględnione i rozwiązane? W jaki sposób? Oprócz sugestii związanych z połączeniem kolejowym analizie poddany został publiczny transport drogowy: możliwość dojazdu do PLL z Lublina i Świdnika oraz z innych miast regionu (Chełma, Zamościa, Puław, Radzynia Podlaskiego). Na pytania te zostaną udzielone odpowiedzi w oparciu o publikowane raporty z działalności PLL, archiwa prasowe i wywiady z pracownikami PLL, przedstawicielami lubelskich firm transportowych oraz władz regionu.
    The purpose of this article is to analyze the first two months of functioning of the Lublin Airport (PLL) due to air, rail and public road transport correlation. Released newspapers signals related to the functioning of the existing grid connections with the newly created airport has been deeply analyzed. What are the main problems appeared after the airport was opened? Has the airport's, rail and road infrastructure fulfilled their tasks? In case of the flight delays, some problems with train schedules were indicated by the passengers - have they been considered and resolved? How? Along of the suggestion of a rail connection, public road transport has been analyzed as well: Connections and arriving possibilities at PLL from Lublin and Swidnik and other cities in the region (Chełm, Zamość, Puławy, Radzyń Podlaski). Those questions will be answered on published reports basis of the PLL activities, press archives and interviews with PLL employees, Lublin's transport companies representatives and the regional authorities.

    Due to the rarity of female pilots, aviation communication is typically conducted in a single-gender environment. The role of gender in interactions during inflight emergencies has not yet been adequately explored. This single case analysis uses a qualitative approach based on conversation analytic transcripts to investigate how gender may be relevant either explicitly or implicitly in radio transmissions between flight crew and Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel, as well as internal ATC phone interactions as participants work to handle an inflight emergency. This incident involved a female pilot and a male copilot, thus providing a naturally occurring rare event to explore the potential relevance of gender. The analysis shows that explicit references to gender are limited to occasional asymmetrical use of gendered address terms and gendered pronouns. Participants also used interactional formulations that—while not explicitly gendered—have been associated in previous research with gender differences in interaction, for example, the use of indirect forms of requests or complaints, actions that imply inferences about the emotional state of participants, or possible confusion over the identity of the pilot given the transitions between male and female sounding voices speaking on behalf of the plane. The findings are discussed in terms of implications for how gender differences can impact aviation communication during emergency incidents.

    Opis:
    A system for measurements of particulate matter in the ambient air, employing beta absorption instrument AMIZ-2007 with wireless communication facilities based on GPRS technology, is presented. Uncertainty of measurements caused by the counting statistics was analyzed and it was found that at least 3 h of sampling time is needed to achieve coefficient of variation lower than 20% for the average concentration of particulate matter in the ambient air exceeding 10 μg/m3. Application of a C-14 beta ray source instead of Pm-147 improves sensitivity of the measurement ca. two times. Some results of on-line operation of the system with PM10 and PM2.5 samplers are also shown.

    Cabin crew communication is the basis for safe and effective action in civil and military aviation. The article includes the basic terms, types and elements of communication process characteristic for the aircraft crew’s work environment. Special attention was paid to the role of the crew commander, who is responsible for the overall activities concerning the flight operation. The aim of this study were the principles of communication between crew members and air traffic control services.
    Komunikacja w załodze lotniczej jest fundamentem bezpiecznego i efektywnego wykonywania zadań w lotnictwie cywilnym i wojskowym. W artykule zostały opisane podstawowe pojęcia, rodzaje i elementy procesu komunikowania się w aspekcie pracy załogi statku powietrznego. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na rolę dowódcy załogi, który jest głównym kreatorem, odpowiedzialnym za całość czynności związanych z działalnością lotniczą. Scharakteryzowano ponadto zasady komunikacji między członkami załogi oraz służbami kontroli ruchu lotniczego.

    The world economic crisis has had a big impact on the air transport business efficiency. Its effects are still present and require difficult and costly actions to be taken not only by airports managements, but also urban agglomerations’ authorities. Managers responsible for air transport coordination, with their limited investment funds, are forced to continuously improve the effectiveness of f light economics and of airports’ utilization. The article presents the outcomes of the economic crisis of the air transport busi- ness in Poland. It describes the circumstances conditioning the development of Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport and its future in a staggering economy, with special consideration to investments widening the availability of airport services within the urban agglomeration.

    In this paper, we estimate the upper limit of the transmission data rate in airborne ultrasonic communications, under condition of the optimal power allocation. The presented method is based on frequency response of a channel in case of single-path LOS propagation under different climatic conditions and AWGN background noise model, and it can be easily extended to the case of frequency-dependent noise. The obtained results go beyond the discrete distances for which experimental SNR values were available, and are more accurate than the previous calculations in the literature, due to the inclusion of the channel frequency response and its changes over the distance. The impact of air temperature, relative humidity and the atmospheric pressure on the channel capacity is also investigated. The presented results can serve as a reference during the design of airborne ultrasonic communication systems operating in the far-field region.

    Zgodnie z planami armii amerykańskiej, najpóźniej do 2020 roku, wszyscy jej żołnierze wyposażeni zostaną w super nowoczesne mundury, które umożliwią komunikację z dowódcą, doskonałą orientację w terenie, ochronę przed zranieniem oraz efektywniejsze eliminowanie przeciwnika. Zespół NSC (Natick Soldier Center -w pełnym brzmieniu: Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC)) stworzył koncepcję żołnierza przyszłości (Future Warrior Concept - FWC), który będzie składał się z sześciu głównych podsystemów: komunikacji, kombinezonu bojowego, uzbrojenia, monitorowania czynności fizjologicznych, klimatyzacji i wspomagania. W przedstawionym materiale omówiono założenia konstrukcyjne i zadania każdego podsystemu. Jednym z założeń koncepcji żołnierza przyszłości jest zwiększenie, w istotny sposób, jego siły fizycznej. Współpraca Human Engineering Laboratory University of California, Berkeley oraz zespołu DARPA (U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency - Agencja Zaawansowanych Projektów Badawczych Departamentu Obrony USA) ma na celu przekształcenie zwykłych żołnierzy we wspaniałe oddziały mogące pokonywać wysokie przeszkody, biegać z dużą prędkością i nosić ekwipunek o znacznej wadze. Efekt ten ma być osiągnięty poprzez zastosowanie szkieletu zewnętrznego, tak zwanego exoskeletonu, zwiększającego możliwości ludzkiego organizmu. W artykule omówiono oczekiwania jakie zgodnie z założeniami DARPA ma spełniać szkielet zewnętrzny.
    According to the plans of American Army, no later than on 2020, every soldiers shall be equipped with supermodern uniforms, which shall enable communication with their commander, excellent orientation in terrain, protection against wounds and more effective elimination of the enemy. The NSC team (Natick Soldier Center - full name: Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC)) developed a concept of future soldier (Future Warrior Concept - FWC), consisting of six main subsystems: communication, combat overalls, armament, monitoring of physiological functions, micro-climate conditioning and power subsystem. The presented material discusses design guidelines and tasks of each subsystem. One of the guidelines of the future soldier concept is remarkable improvement of his physical strength. Co-operation of Human Engineering Laboratory University of California, Berkeley with team of DARPA (U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) aims to convert regular soldiers into excellent troops able to overcome tall obstacles, run at high speed and carry an equipment of significant weight. The goal is to be reached by applying an external framing named exoskeleton, which improves abilities of human body. The paper discusses expectations towards the exoskeleton to prove according to to the DARPA presumptions.

    The architecture of wide-band synchronous automated systems of data communication (ASDC) enables utilization of high accuracy measurement of the signal reception times to relative navigation in the network. In this contribution an operation analysis of such systems in the relative navigation mode is conducted. The accuracy and possibilities of the utilization of these systems were examined by modeling in air navigation.

    W budynkach biurowych, ze względu na potrzebę poprawy komfortu termicznego użytkowników, coraz częściej stosowane są rozwiązania, umożliwiające kontrolowanie poziomu wilgotności. W artykule opisano trzy różne podejścia do sterowania pracą nawilżaczy, uprzednio wyjaśniając sposób i zasadność ich wykorzystania. Podejściem współczesnym jest stosowanie protokołów komunikacyjnych łączących za pomocą magistrali komunikacyjnej odpowiednie sekcje procesów technologicznych. Taki sposób realizacji instalacji pozwala na dostosowanie pracy systemu nawilżania w zależności od wymagań i znacznie zwiększa funkcjonalność zarówno pod kątem sterowania, jak i monitoringu. W artykule omówiono zagadnienie poprawy parametrów powietrza przez zwiększenie zawartości pary wodnej, sposoby sterowania, jakie możliwe są przy wykorzystaniu wybranych, dostępnych na rynku rozwiązań oraz dokonano porównania i analizy wad i zalet każdego z nich.
    In new office buildings humidify control is used increasingly. This solution improves the comfort of its occupants. The article describes three different approaches to controlling the work of humidifiers, previously explaining the method and validity of their use. Using the possibilities of modern products, the advantages resulting from the use of open protocols to connecting appropriate sections of technological processes was describing. The advantages and disadvantages resulting from the application of classical and modern control methods as well as their principle of operation were also presented, as well as an indication of where each of them works best.

Wspomaganie takie bazuje na wykorzystaniu systemu nahełmowego zobrazowania informacji z głowic obserwacyjnocelowniczych i komunikacji werbalnej z rozbitkiem. Omówiono wybrane urządzenia zobrazowania i komunikacji werbalnej zabudowane na statkach powietrznych eksploatowanych w Siłach Zbrojnych RP, które stosowane są w lotniczych akcjach poszukiwawczo-ratowniczych. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na problemy związane z rozbudową zintegrowanych systemów awionicznych w zakresie nahełmowego zobrazowania parametrów pilotażowo-nawigacyjnych oraz nahełmowego zobrazowania informacji z głowic obserwacyjno-celowniczych min. system radionamiernika pokładowego oraz radiostacji ratowniczej, które wchodzą w skład zintegrowanego systemu łączności. Zaprezentowano przykładowe rozwiązania konstrukcyjne takich systemów oraz możliwości ich zastosowania w akcjach poszukiwawczo-ratowniczych.
    The paper presents the selected results of analytical and construction works implemented in the Air Force Institute of Technology in terms of the possibility of supporting the work of a pilot-commander and an on-board systems pilotoperator involved in aircraft search and rescue actions. Such support is based on using the information imaging system from observation and targeting heads and the verbal communication with a survivor. The selected imaging and verbal communication devices built in the aircraft operated in the Polish Armed Forces, which are used in aircraft search and rescue actions, were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the problems related to the extension of integrated avionics systems in terms of the helmet-mounted system of imaging the piloting-navigational parameters and the information imaging system from observation and targeting heads, as well as the on-board direction finder and the emergency locator transmitter. Sample design solutions of such systems and the possibility of their use in aircraft search and rescue actions were also presented.

    Opis:
    Safety level analysis is included in the paper in context of SWIM system in air traffic management. The example is given. It examines the limitations and drawbacks of current ICT systems used for air traffic management. Analyzing the development of communication systems for the management of general air traffic, it can be concluded that the development of the terrestrial segment of the exchange of information between the parties relating to the air traffic will fluctuate towards a solution based on a service-oriented architecture SOA. This architecture will be the basis for the implementation of the concept of an information exchange system SWIM.
