Opis:
The function of a new estimation procedure of long-term noise indicators is considered in this study. New possibilities are related to the stochastic modelling of the control data formation mechanism. Assuming the mathematical formalism based on the adaptive model of exponential smoothing of control data, the need of controlling at each estimation stage of long-term noise indicators, the adherence to the model assumptions is formulated. The procedure of its realisation is described in the paper. The tracking signal method referred to the tested errors of the assumed model was applied. The ratio of the sum of model errors in relation to the average absolute error, generated by the assumed approximation, was selected as the representative of the tracking signal. Conditions for the acceptation of the model assumption were defined. The analysis of functionality of the developed solution was illustrated by the results of a continuous noise monitoring recorded at one of the main arteries in Kraków.

Opis:
The paper formulates the need of the modification of currently applied solutions of uncertainty assessments in vibroacoustic investigations, including the ones which use the convention rules developed by 7 international metrological organisations and described in the ‘Guide to the Uncertainty’. Reservations versus currently used solutions are given in the hereby paper. It directs attention toward assumptions limiting the likelihood assessment of uncertainties of the obtained acoustic results. It draws the possible ways of the problem solutions and related to them methods. It presents the need of connecting belonging to them algorithms with not classic statistical methods, allowing taking into account departures from generally used assumptions in presently applied solutions of uncertainty estimations of acoustic investigations results. The paper presents new research trends related to the uncertainty assessment of the environment acoustic hazards control. The presented results and their conclusions can constitute the base for wider verification of the correctness of the currently applied procedures of acoustic measurements assessment and related to them estimations of errors levels of the uncertainty estimation of acoustic investigations results.

The paper presents the problem of high level of noise at workplace of operators of earthmoving machines and the problem of noise emitted by these machines to the environment. The paper presents also the basic information concerning the administrative methods of noise control like EU directives and regulations of the Polish authorities concerning noise level at workplace and the noise emitted to the environment. This paper shows the results of experiments on use of acoustic screens to lower the noise levels emitted during small earth moving machines operations. A significant damage of acoustic climate during road works was proven.
W pracy przedstawiono problem wysokiego poziomu hałasu na stanowiskach pracy operatorów maszyn do prac ziemnych oraz problem hałasu emitowanego przez te maszyny do otaczającego środowiska. Przedstawiono podstawowe informacje o administracyjnych metodach zwalczania hałasu: dyrektywy Unii Europejskiej i rozporządzenia polskich władz, dotyczące poziomu hałasu na stanowiskach pracy oraz hałasu emitowanego do środowiska. Wykazano naruszenie klimatu akustycznego w czasie prac remontowych ulic. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań nad zastosowaniem ekranów akustycznych w celu obniżenia poziomu hałasu emitowanego w czasie pracy małych maszyn roboczych do prac ziemnych.

Opis:
The paper presents a concept of acoustic field analyser as a tool for helping deaf people, able to perceive visual and⁄or tactile signals only. The acoustic field is considered as a sum of acoustic waves carrying information about events occurring in a monitored physical space. Recognition of acoustic signals together with identification of their sources give a possibility to recognise events of vital importance to a deaf person. There are presented here general problems of acoustic environment analysers' design, particular attention being paid to acoustic sources localisation in physical space.

Tematyka większości konferencji naukowych, a także publikacji podejmujących problematykę hałasu koncentruje się na poziomach ciśnienia akustycznego w przedziałach: szkodliwości (80-130 dB) i w mniejszym zakresie uciążliwości (45-80 dB). W ostatnich dwóch latach podjęto wiele prac związanych z przedziałem komfortu akustycznego (poziomy 20-45 dB). W artykule scharakteryzowano znaczenie tego przedziału w kilku przekrojach: fizycznym, metrologicznym i prawnym. Przedstawiono także wybrane zagadnienia bardzo niskich poziomów ciśnienia akustycznego (poniżej 20 dB).
Previous themes of most scientific conferences, as well as publications addressing issues of noise have focused on SPL intervals: of danger (80-130 dB) and to a lesser extent of annoyance (45-80 dB). In the last two years, there have been a series of studies on to the range of acoustic comfort (20-45 dB). The paper discusses the importance of this range in several approaches (physical, metrological, legal) It also presents selected issues on very low sound pressure levels (below 20 dB).

The paper presents the meaning of elements of proces of spatial planning in designing acoustic environment on urban areas. There were indicated problems and limitations in statements of strategic municipal documents related to spatial planning. There were also desribed possibilities of shaping acoustic environment using models of spatial structures in relations to the configuration of transportation system.

The paper presents a new approach to shaping acoustic comfort as a process of managing the acoustic environment in urbanised areas. The research in this area focuses on the psychoacoustic aspect of shaping acoustic comfort in an urban environment. This approach permits, depending on the purpose of land, not only to reduce the noise to the allowable limits but also to evaluate the acoustic quality of sounds originating in different sources. In this context, a review was performed of the research carried out on identifying soundscapes as a way of shaping acoustic comfort in the urban environment. In this paper it is suggested that the entropy method be used for the assessment of auditory sound perception. The research carried out by the author shows that linking the relationship between the quality of perceived sounds with the elements/factors which shape the acoustic environment can be used to valorise soundscapes.
W artykule przedstawiono nowe podejście do kształtowania komfortu akustycznego jako procesu zarządzania środowiskiem akustycznym na terenach zurbanizowanych. Rozwijane badania w tym obszarze opierają się na uwzględnieniu psychoakustycznego aspektu kształtowania komfortu akustycznego w środowisku miejskim. Skutkiem takiego podejścia, w zależności od przeznaczenia terenu, jest nie tylko redukcja hałasu do wartości dopuszczalnych, ale ocena jakości akustycznej dźwięków pochodzących z różnych źródeł. W tym kontekście przeprowadzony został przegląd podjętych badań nad identyfikacją krajobrazów dźwiękowych jako sposobu kształtowania komfortu akustycznego w środowisku miejskim. Zaproponowano w artykule wykorzystanie metody entropii dla potrzeb oszacowania percepcji słuchowej dźwięków. Z podjętych badań własnych wynika, że powiązanie relacji jakości postrzeganych dźwięków z elementami/czynnikami kształtującymi środowisko akustyczne może zostać wykorzystane do waloryzacji krajobrazów dźwiękowych.

Opis:
Stosowana ilościowa ocena narażenia na hałas mieszkańców nie uwzględnia wpływu jakościowych czynników na percepcję dźwięku. Stosowane badania nad uwzględnieniem znaczenia i wpływu zróżnicowanych czynników jakościowych na percepcję dźwięku opierają się z reguły na metodach ankietowych. Nowe podejście kształtowania środowiska akustycznego zakłada uwzględnienie zobiektywizowanych cech percepcji dźwięku w połączeniu z ilościową oceną narażenia na hałas. Ważnym aspektem w nowym podejściu staje się reprezentacja subiektywnej oceny odbioru wrażeń akustycznych przez mieszkańców w sposób obiektywny. Punktem wyjścia do opracowania nowego podejścia będzie wykorzystanie idei krajobrazów dźwiękowych dla potrzeb kształtowania jakości akustycznej środowiska.
Quantitative assessment of the exposure of the inhabitants to noise does not comprise the influence of qualitative factors of perception of sound. Basically, the research on qualitative aspects of noise is conducted with the use of questionnaires. New approach to designing acoustic environment assumes taking into account objectivised features of noise perception combined with quantitative assessment of exposure. The key aspect in the new approach is representation of subjective assessment of reception of acoustic impressions by the inhabitants in the objective way. The starting point for development of the new approach is the use of idea of sound landscapes for the needs of shaping the quality of acoustic environment.

W artykule zaproponowano wykorzystanie metody skalowania głośności do identyfikacji i oceny dokuczliwości hałasowej mieszkańców narażonych na oddziaływanie hałasu drogowego. Opisano sposób przeprowadzenia badań audiometrycznych przy wykorzystaniu symulowanych sygnałów akustycznych źródeł dźwięku. Przedstawiono możliwości opisu zmiennych środowiska miejskiego o charakterze akustycznym i nieakustycznym za pomocą wskaźników. Wskazano na potrzebę budowy modelu jakości akustycznej środowiska z wykorzystaniem wskaźników środowiskowych i wyników badań audiometrycznych.
In the article there was proposed the use of method of loudness scaling to identify and evaluate the level of annoyance of people exposed to traffic noise. There was described the way of doing audiometric measurements with the use of simulated acoustic signal sources. There were also presented possibilities of description of urban environment variables, both of acoustic and non-acoustic nature, with the use of appropriate indicators. There was indicated the need of creation of a model of evaluation of acoustic quality of the environment with the use of environmental indicators and outcome of the audiometric measurement.

W artykule przedstawiono opracowany w ITB model do oceny jakości środowiska wewnętrznego budynków (IEQ) oraz jego modele cząstkowe obejmujące komfort cieplny, jakość powietrza wewnętrznego, komfort akustyczny i komfort wizualny. Model wykorzystano do oceny przykładowego budynku wzniesionego w standardzie niemal zeroenergetycznym (NZEB) w oparciu o pomiary fizyczne w środowisku wewnętrznym. Wyniki wartości indeksów modeli cząstkowych można agregować do odsetka przewidywanych zadowolonych użytkowników na bazie publikowanych wyników badań sensorycznych.

The Warsaw soundscape has been examined according to the principles of acoustic ecology. The soundscape is the acoustic environment tested primarily by qualitative research. Warsaw residents were asked in a survey about their sound impressions and requirements for the Warsaw soundscape. The aim of this research was to learn both the conditions of acoustic environment and the needs of space users in accordance with the space category. The present and expected sound structures of five different categories of space were examined (residential areas, streets, city centre, tourist areas and green areas). Information on both the specific Warsaw sounds and the ideas for new sounds (which could be introduced into the city) was collected.

The survey interviewed three hundred and nine people in five public places within Warsaw. The aim of the survey was to examine if people's sound preferences are related to a place's function and how these preferences diferentiate. A further aim of this research was to gather users' ideas for making city soundscapes more pleasant. The results showed that people generally prefer natural and human sounds, but do not like mechanical sounds; the importance of specific sounds are diferentiated in relation to the function and history of a place. The main way to make urban places sound better and more appropriate to their function is to eliminate or reduce mechanical sounds (especially trafic), but individual methods depend on local conditions. The second way to make places sound better is to increase natural sounds and to make soundscapes more appropriate to their function - an increase in human sounds (mainly music).

The author investigates the unique aesthetic program of George Crumb, one of the most important contemporary American composers. Crumb certainly occupies a unique place in the music of 20th century, not only because of his cultural background, or originality of artistic expression, but first of all, due to the presence of most dilemmas of the contemporary culture in his music. The question about the form of a relationship between human beings and nature at the turn of 20th/2ist century is one of them. In his artistic output Crumb remains an advocate of a concept of music which, as the most spiritual and magical of all arts, derives from deep reserves of human psyche on the one hand and from primal forces of nature, on the other one. The analytical aspects of the paper concern the problems of onomatopoeic imitation of the sounds of birds and a whale, symbolic allusions to the other composers (Debussy, Mahler), the concept of “larger rhythms of nature”, the phenomenon of echo and its forms in Crumb’s music, his search of natural pre-sounds of music (resulting in using non-traditional instruments), the idea of distant music, etc. Especially three pieces: An Idyll of the Misbegotten, Vox balaenae and Echoes of Time and the River are considered as the most characteristic.
