Opis:
The paper presents the evaluation of seasonal and long-term changes in selected nutrients of three lakes of the Poznań Lakeland. The lakes were selected due to the high risk of pollution from agricultural and residential areas. Water samples were taken in 6 control points in the spring, summer and autumn, from 2004 to 2014. Trophic status of the lakes was evaluated based on the concentration of nutrients (nitrates, nitrites, ammonium, nitrogen and phosphorus) and indicators of eutrophication. Studies have shown that the concentration of nutrients varied greatly both in individual years and seasons of the analyzed decades, especially in Lakes Niepruszewskie and Pamiątkowskie. The main problem is the high concentration of nitrates. In general, it showed an upward trend until 2013, especially in the spring. This may indicate that actions restricting runoff pollution from agricultural sources have not been fully effective. On the other hand, a marked downward trend in the concentrations of NH4 over the years from 2004 to 2014, especially after 2007, indicates a gradual improvement of wastewater management. Moreover, seasonal variation in NH4 concentrations differed from those of NO3 and NO2. The highest values were reported in the autumn season, the lowest in the summer. Concentrations of nutrients and eutrophication indexes reached high values in all analysed lakes, indicating a eutrophic or hypertrophic state of the lakes. The high value of the N:P ratio indicates that the lakes had a huge surplus of nitrogen, and phosphorus is a productivity limiting factor.

Opis:
The samples of macrophytes and bottom sediments originated from the littoral zone of the Słupia River were collected in summer 2013. The aim of this study was to compare the properties of the accumulation of leaves and rhizomes of Glyceria maxima, Phragmites australis, Typha latifolia and Phalaris arundinacea for macro- and micronutrients. The largest quantities of macroelements were found in the leaves of the examined species, and microelements dominated the rhizomes of most examined macrophytes except for Mn in P.australis and T.latifolia. The obtained results show that N and K dominated in the leaves of P.arundinacea, P and Mg in the leaves of P.australis, and Ca in the leaves of G.maxima. The largest quantities of N, P and K were cumulated in the rhizomes of P.arundinacea, while Mg and Ca in the rhizome of T.latifolia. The leaves of aquatic plants accumulated from 1354.9 mmolc·kg-1 (T.latifolia) to 1844.0 mmolc·kg-1 (P.arundinacea), and rhizomes from 985.8 mmolc·kg-1 (G.maxima) to 1335.2 mmolc·kg-1 (P.arundinacea) of all the analyzed components. In these species of macrophytes lower accumulated value of the sum of macro- and microelements were found in the rhizomes. The share of nitrogen was 42.4–59.8% of this amount, phosphorus 4.3–8.6%, potassium 22.8–35.1%, calcium from 2,6% to 12.4%, magnesium 3.0–7.5%, and heavy metals were from 0.6% (G.maxima) to 1.2% (T.latifolia) in leaves and from 2.2% (T.latifolia) to 8.7% (G.maxima) in rhizomes.

Opis:
This study was carried out in the Słowiński National Park (SNP; northern Poland) in Scots pine forest stands. The aim of the research was to compare the accumulation of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium, zinc, nickel, iron and manganese in needles of pines growing on in dry (Bs), fresh (Bw) and moist (Bw) habitats. The age of needles, soil moisture and the content of examined components in the soil were taken into account. Needles and soil samples were collected in September from 15 sites (Bs – 5, Bśw – 3, Bw – 7). The nitrogen was determined with Kiejdahl method, and the phosphorus by the molybdate method after digestion in the mixture of 98% H2SO4 and 30% H2O2. The content of K, Mg, Ca, Zn, Ni, Fe and Mn was assessed by atomic absorption spectrometry after digestion in the mixture of 65% HNO3 and 30% H2O2. The soils of SNP, developed from deep dune sands, were very poor in nutrients. The highest amounts of macro− and micronutrients were found in organic and humic levels. In mineral levels, the content of the ingredients decreased rapidly and in many cases was beyond the limit of determination. Extreme nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium deficiency was found in analysed needles, together with adequate amounts of magnesium, zinc, nickel, iron and manganese as well as an excess of calcium. Differences in the nutritional state of Scots pine in investigated habitats were apparent primarily in the sum of the components accumulated in the needles. Needles accumulated in total from 736.5 to 850.7 mmolc/kg of nutrients, with macronutrients ranging from 98.6 to 99.1%. The accumulation of macro− and micronutrients in the examined needles decreased in the series Bśw>Bw>Bs. Mn and Fe showed the largest share in the micronutrient pool. Zn and Ni were significantly less common. The comparison of the accumulation of macro− and micronutrients in the needles indicated that stands on Bśw have slightly better conditions for development under unfavourable soil and climatic conditions prevailing in the Łeba Spit than those in Bs and Bw habitats.
