    The article presents the postulates of developing a catalogue of criteria for assessing the accessibility of cultural heritage sites as tourist attractions from the point of view of the needs of several social groups: persons with disabilities, elderly people and visitors with children. In this catalogue three basic components are of key importance: physical/technical preparation, tourist information system and the skills and competences of the staff serving guests. The first part of the article is a review, discussing the concept of accessibility as well as the barriers and constraints that may exist in cultural heritage sites from the perspective of the groups of visitors concerned. The second part focuses on the presentation of the postulates for the development of a catalogue of criteria for the assessment of accessibility on the example of the case study of the Piast Trail – the main historical thematic route in the Wielkopolska region. The contents of the article constitute a knowledge base useful in the process of equal opportunities in access to historical and cultural heritage. They also serve as guidelines for improving the quality of services in tourist facilities.

    Article describes access to tourist information and the consistency of tourist offers with this kind of information for people with disabilities. The conception of accessible tourism was presented as well as the model of tourist information availability with the demonstration of technology applied to ensure objective information about all services so as people with disabilities could evaluate the scope of accessibility according to their personal needs. Based on the analysis of information systems found on Internet tourist portals what is presented is the scope of information availability from the point of view of people with disabilities. These information systems largely contribute to the development of accessible tourism. In Poland, the issue of implementing the assumption of accessible tourism, including the availability of a coherent information system is an important challenge that requires integrated systemic activities of many entities.

    Knowing the extent of the detailed conditions for sustainable development of culture – religion tourism seems to be an important issue, because interest in religious tourism, pilgrimages, cultural and religious tourism in Poland seemed to be unabated. Among millions of tourists annually visiting the most popular sanctuaries, many are people with different kind of disabilities, elders and families with toddlers. However the issue was not yet a material for broader and deeper scientific studies in Poland. Weight of the precise of discernment seemed to be particularly important in the context of pilgrims expected in Poland in 2016, on the occasion of World Youth Day, as well as in subsequent years, what will be the likely consequence of this year’s celebrations. One of the most important outcomes of the study is the ‘Inclusive Religious Sanctuaries Chart’ (IRSCH), helpful with identification of the material and non-material barriers. In this text the authors present the findings of research carried out under ds-144 and ds.-245 AWF Warsaw projects (Ministry of Science and Higher Education grants for the years 2014-2018).
    Poznanie społecznych i przestrzennych uwarunkowań zrównoważonego rozwoju turystyki kulturowo – religijnej wydaje się problemem ważnym, ponieważ zainteresowanie tą formą w Polsce nie słabnie. Wśród nich jest wiele osób z niepełnosprawnością, starszych, rodzin z małymi dziećmi. Problematyka dostępności sanktuariów dla niepełnosprawnych nie była dotąd materiałem szerszych i pogłębionych studiów naukowych w Polsce, co zachęca do podjęcia rozważań nad tą problematyką. Szczegółowa analiza problemu możliwości znoszenia barier dostępności sanktuariów wydawała się autorom szczególnie istotna w kontekście spodziewanego ruchu pielgrzymkowego w Polsce w roku 2016 z okazji Światowych Dni Młodzieży. Jednym z założonych i osiągniętych efektów aplikacyjnych dorobku badań jest opracowanie ‘Karty Sanktuarium Dostępnego’(KSD), pomocnego przy ocenie dostępności miejsc kultu religijnego dla osób z różnego rodzaju niepełnosprawnością. W przedstawionym tekście zaprezentowano dorobek badań ds.-144 oraz ds.-245 AWF Warszawa (granty Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego na lata 2014 – 2018).

    Kraków jest jednym z czołowych polskich miast inwestujących w prężnie rozwijający się sektor turystyczny. Prowadzi to do konieczności rozwijania infrastruktury i usług dostępnych dla wszystkich. Duże nakłady finansowe, dotacje europejskie oraz współpraca z organizacjami pozarządowymi pozwoliły, aby miasto stało się pionierem w przystosowaniu przestrzeni miejskiej dla osób niepełnosprawnych. Artykuł jest analizą stanu rozwoju turystyki dostępnej w Krakowie. Jego celem jest ocena dostępności przestrzeni turystycznej miasta Krakowa dla osób z dysfunkcjami. Wykonano badanie ankietowe na grupie 213 osób posiadających orzeczenie o niepełnosprawności w przedziale wiekowym 20–26 lat, którzy mieszkają w Krakowie. W kwestionariuszu ankiety zapytano ich o ograniczenia podczas poruszania się po mieście używanymi przez nich środkami transportu. Zbadano stopień przystępności miasta i projekty realizowane na rzecz turystyki osób niepełnosprawnych. Artykuł zwraca uwagę także na oczekiwania wobec turystyki dostępnej respondentom. Na podstawie wniosków z przeprowadzonego badania w artykule wykazano, iż pomimo wielu skutecznych działań samorządu
    Kraków is one of the leading Polish cities investing in the rapidly growing tourism sector. This leads to the need of developing the infrastructure and services available for all. Large financial outlays, European subsidies and cooperation with non-governmental organisations allowed the city to become a pioneer in adapting urban spaces for the disabled. The article is an analysis of the state of development of available tourism in Kraków. The aim of this study is to evaluate the accessibility of the tourism space of Kraków for the needs of people with disabilities. Survey was conducted on a group of 213 respondents with disability, aged 20–26, who live in Kraków. In the questionnaire they were asked about the restrictions when moving around the city, means of transport used. The degree of affordability, projects to promote tourism of people with disabilities were examined. The article draws attention to the expectations of accessible tourism among respondents. Based on the conclusions of the research conducted, the paper shows that, despite the many effective solutions implemented by the local government, there are still some areas left for improvement in terms of spatial and social aspects of available tourism in Kraków

    Opis:
    Basaltic volcanism, a dominant mode of volcanic activity on Earth, occurs as explosive eruptions, resulting from the exsolution of magmatic gases and is exhibited by Strombolian and Hawaiian types. Strombolian activity takes its name from frequent, small-scale explosions of the Stromboli Volcano, which was formed within the Aeolian Islands, north of Sicily. This paper presents the volcanic structure and features of its activity, based on the results of numerous studies carried out during the last 15 years. In the intention of the authors, this educational presentation would be an incentive to make a decision to travel to Stromboli and see its present-day activity and its effects from just a few hundred meters. To have a safe experience and to avoid accidents and injuries, the tourists need to have sufficient up-to-date information, before they embark on their adventure.
    Wulkanizm bazaltowy (dominujący typ aktywności wulkanicznej na Ziemi), który jest związany z ekshalacją gazów pomagmowych, ma charakter eksplozywnych erupcji określanych mianem typu hawajskiego i strombolijskiego. Aktywność strombolijską charakteryzują częste, niewielkiej objętości wybuchy, które występują m.in. na czynnym wulkanie Stromboli, znajdującym się w łuku Wysp Liparyjskich (Eolskich), na północ od Sycylii. W artykule przedstawiono budowę wulkanu, jego działalność i przyczyny tej działalności na podstawie wyników licznych badań, przeprowadzonych w ciągu ostatnich 15 lat. W intencji autorów przedstawione w sposób możliwie prosty informacje, zdjęcia i ryciny tego wulkanu mają być materiałem edukacyjnym i jednocześnie zachętą do podjęcia decyzji o podróży, żeby z odległości kilkuset metrów móc samemu zobaczyć erupcje wulkaniczne. Aby poznawanie wulkanu było bezpieczne, turyści powinni zapoznać się z aktualnymi informacjami o warunkach panujących na ścieżkach turystycznych.

    The article presents an outline of the evolution of the geography of disability (since the 1930s) taking into account significant issues in the creation of theoretical foundations as well as practical action in ‘accessible tourism’. It may be considered a review. Based on an analysis of literature, the first section presents a definition of ‘accessible tourism’ and the development of the geography of disability, the result of which is the geographical model of disability. The second section is a synthetic presentation of the effect of geographical research on the development of theoretical accessible tourism concepts and their implications in practice. The final conclusions highlight the need to identify the level of detail in universal design principles applied to buildings, spaces, services, which are to fulfil the criteria of accessibility for people with various types of disability.

    The accessibility of tourism space is becoming an increasingly significant issue in geographical research due to, amongst other things, demographic changes (an ageing population, growing numbers of people with disabilities) alongside guaranteeing a universal right of access to tourism. The nature of geographical research (physical, socio-economic) allows this issue to be viewed systemically. Drawing on the fields of geography and accessible tourism, this article presents the assumptions of a model which makes a systemic analysis of the factors conditioning the accessibility of tourism space possible. It also highlights the need for further research into the optimal level of detail in universal design principles which can be applied in tourism.

    Turystyka dostępna pozwala osobom niepełnosprawnym na samodzielne, sprawiedliwe i godne funkcjonowanie podczas podróżowania. Jest to możliwe dzięki dostarczeniu im odpowiednich produktów turystycznych, usług i środowiska. Jednakże proces kreowania produktów dla potrzeb osób z dysfunkcjami jest czaso- i kosztochłonny (gdyż wymaga likwidowania barier) i charakteryzuje się swoistymi zasadami. Artykuł prezentuje proces kreowania produktów turystycznych powstających z myślą o osobach niepełnosprawnych, o różnym rodzaju i stopniu schorzenia. Przybliżono również terminologię niepełnosprawności oraz segmentacji rynku turystycznego, który odpowiada na potrzeby osób z dysfunkcjami.
    Accessible tourism allows people with disabilities to independent, fair and decent functioning while traveling. This is made possible by providing them with dedicated tourism products, services, as well as background. However, the process of creating products tailored to the needs of people with disabilities is both time and money consuming, because it requires breaking down barriers, but above all it is characterized by its own rules. The paper presents the process of creating tourism products for people with disabilities of various type and degree of disability, explains the term of disability and the segmentation of the tourism market, which responds to the needs of people with disabilities.

    Przyroda obszarów leśnych posiada niepowtarzalne i jedyne w swoim rodzaju walory turystyczne, dzięki którym możliwy jest rozwój sylwaturystyki. W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję sylwaturystyki, a w szczególności zdefiniowano jej istotę i funkcje, podano składniki produktu sylwaturystycznego oraz obszary (destynacje) sylwaturystyki i narzędzia ich promocji. Stosunkowo obszernie zaprezentowano również zagadnienie walorów przyrodniczych lasów. Zwrócono przy tym uwagę na wartości niematerialne lasów, a więc charakterystyczne dla tego środowiska osobliwości, które przyciągają do urozmaiconych obszarów leśnych, zwłaszcza ludność zamieszkałą w rejonach miejskich i przemysłowych. Na tle charakterystyki poszczególnych kategorii lasów, ustanawianych z punktu widzenia przede wszystkim ochrony przyrody i zachowania trwałości ich naturalnych, bioróżnorodnych siedlisk dla przyszłych pokoleń, wskazano na potrzebę częściowego ograniczenia wstępu dla ludności. Z naukowego punktu widzenia dynamiczny rozwój turystyki i rekreacji powoduje konieczność ochrony terenów o szczególnie cennych walorach przyrodniczo-krajoznawczych. W celu niedopuszczenia do nadmiernego i szkodliwego dla środowiska wydeptywania lasów ruch turystyczny powinien być regulowany przez Lasy Państwowe poprzez odpowiednie wskaźniki pojemności i chłonności oraz powszechnie udostępniane szlaki i ścieżki, punkty widokowe, pola i polany biwakowe, parkingi itp.
    The environment of forest areas is characterized by its unique and one-of-a-kind tourism qualities, which enable the development of forest tourism. This article presents the concept of forest tourism with the definition of its essence and functions, specifying the components of the forest tourism product and the areas (destinations) of forest tourism as well as tools for their promotion. The issue of forest natural values is also relatively extensively presented. Attention is drawn to intangible values of forests; characteristic marvels of forest environments, which attract in particular the population of cites and industrial areas. The necessity of partial limitation of access to forests is indicated with a description of particular categories of forests, which are established most of all according to nature protection and preservation of their natural biodiverse habitats for future generations. From the scientific point of view, the dynamic growth of tourism and recreation results in the necessity of protecting the areas of outstanding natural and sightseeing qualities. In order to prevent excessive and damaging trampling of forests, tourist traffic should be controlled by the State Forests National Forest Holding, by adequate rates of tourism absorptive and carrying capacity, as well as common access to trails and paths, overlooks, campsites, car parks etc.

    According to WHO (World Health Organization) 15% of the world population has a sort of disability. The population of the disabled people is increasing due to aging population, wars, disasters and accidents. This situation leads the built environment and transportation accessibility as a basic need. The study has been conducted to identify how accessible tourism activities can be realized in a destination like Izmir, based on the point of view of tourism professionals and NGO’s working on disability. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews. Data was analyzed according to content analysis technique and classified as measures for accessible tourism destination.
