Combinations of polymers and biopolymers of biologically active compounds in the last period have been the subject of intensive research. The active substance linked to a polymer often has a modified function and sometimes no action. On the other hand, the use of unsuitable polymers may result in a type of mismatch of drug-polymer. The aim of the study was to examine whether the active substance ketoconazole causes incompatibility with dietary supplements containing chitosan. Antifungal drug adsorption phenomenon was investigated by the static method in the concentration range of the single dose using a pharmaceutical model of the gastrointestinal tract. The test results show that the antifungal agent is adsorbed onto the chitosan in the pH ranges used, and the binding ability of the chitosan depends on the variety, or indirectly from the reaction environment. It was observed that the average sorption, depending on the variety of chitosan, was located in the limit from 94% to 100%. The increase of the size of the adsorption of anti-inflammatory drugs on the polymer with increasing pH from 7.6 to 8.0 can be explained by the swelling properties of chitosan, which grow with increasing pH of the environment in the direction of alkaline pH. Thus, the specific surface area and polymer sorption capacity is increased. Based on the above considerations, it can be concluded that, between the test drug and the polymer, there is antagonistic interaction involving the adsorption of the drug of this group on a polymer which is chitosan.

Connections of polymers and biopolymers with biologically active compounds are recently the subject of intensive research. Low molecular weight active ingredient combined with a polymer has, in many cases, the modified action. On the other hand, the use of inappropriate polymers can result in incompatibilities drug-polymer. The phenomenon of adsorption of the antibiotic has been studied by the static method in the concentration range generally taken single dose using a pharmaceutical gastrointestinal tract model. The results of measurements bounded drug quantity were used to determine the average percentage of adsorbed dose. The results show that antibiotic tiamphenicol is adsorbed on chitosan in used pH ranges, and the binding ability depends on the variety of chitosan and directly from the environment reaction. It was observed that the average sorption depending on the type of chitosan was within the limit from 82% to 97%.The fact of the lowest adsorption value at pH 6.4 can be explained by chemical properties of chitosan, which shows the load until the pH > 6.7 and the electrostatic adsorption may be exhibit in relation to weak acid medicinal substance. Thus, the specific polymer surface area and its sorption capacity is increased. Based on the above considerations can be stated that between study drug and the polymer an antagonistic interaction exist by involving the adsorption of drugs from this group on chitosan.

Opis:
The important role in the proper functioning of combustion engines plays the quality of lubricates oil. However, the quality of oil changes with the time of exploitation. Therefore, several parameters for examination of oil quality were determined; however, the indicator for quick and efficient tracking of evolution of oil with exploitation time is still searched. Taking into account the complex composition of oils, the ability of oils components to absorb light in various wavelengths is considered. In the article absorption properties of oils is discussed in relation to the time of circulation of oil in the engine lubricate system. For this study, two lubricate oils designated to lubricate the cylinder of vessel engines with different brightness and transparency were used. Oil samples were dissolved in organic solvent –n-hexane and several oil concentration were prepared based on dilution method. Absorbance spectra for eachsamples of oil were registered in the range of wavelength 240-600 nm. Obtained results indicate the changes of value of absorbance in relation to the kind of oil; however, the shape of absorbance spectra is independent from the kind of oil. For studied kinds of oil, characteristic peak independent from the kind of oil located at 260 nm was determined. Based on Lambert-Beer law absorption coefficient was identified as a potential indicator to oil quality evaluation with the time of exploitation in the engine system. Preliminary test for two fresh lubricate oils allow to conclude that absorption coefficient for selected wavelength located at 260 nm could be a sensitive parameter for quick estimating the degree of deterioration of the oil in engine system.

On the basis of the results obtained from our own experimental investigations of energy- absorbing elements, the influence of the given factors on absorbed energy (WEA) was determined. The objects of the research were the samples made of epoxy composites reinforced with glass fibres formed in roving, roving stripes and glass mat as well as with carbon fibres formed in roving and carbon roving stripes. To investigate the capability of hitting energy absorption of the samples in the shape of tubes, the truncate cones and in the shape of a thin cuboid were taken under consideration. The sample in the shape of tubes, wavy coats and thin cuboids with angle 45° (on one edge), play the role of the initiator of progressive destruction process. The composites matrix was taken into account during investigations: epoxy, the vinyl-esters, polyetheretherketones, reinforced with carbon and glass fibres with different structures of the samples. The influence of the sample geometry and the orientation of the layers in carbon / epoxide and the ar amid / the epoxide composites on the WEA absorption value were presented in the papers. The comparison of the structures made f rom single elements with relevant structures of four elements shows that absorbed energy is accumulating. In this case the relative absorbed energy remains at the similar level.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę wyników pomiarów zawartości biokomponentów w postaci estrów metylowych kwasów karboksylowych oleju rzepakowego (RME - Rapeseed oil Methyl Ester) w oleju napędowym. Zgodnie z obowiązującymi normami zastosowana została metoda spektrofotometrii w podczerwieni IR. Do oceny ilościowej wykorzystano prawo Lamberta-Beera. W torze pomiarowym do ustawienia analitycznej długości fali (5,73 žm) zastosowana została siatka dyfrakcyjna z regulowaną szerokością szczeliny. Przeanalizowany został wpływ szerokości szczeliny w siatce na dokładność wyników pomiaru.
The paper presents analysis of the measurement results of the content of biocomponents - rapeseed oil methyl esters (RME) in diesel oil. Up to mandatory standard as a method of analysis concentration RME of biodiesel infrared absorption spectroscopy IR was used. The quantitative determinations of the contents of biocomponents from the absorption spectra are based on the Lambert and Beer law. In slotted section to set analytical wavelength (5,73 žm) diffraction grating with regulate width gap was applied. Width gap effect was analysed.

Opis:
Oil pollutants in the natural water masses – especially in the seawater column – can be found in two forms, namely as dissolved oil or as dispersed one. With a broad set of methods, for studying the complex structure of petroleum products, due to the ability of petroleum products to absorb UV-light, absorbance spectra could be a relevant indicator to oil identification in aquatic environment and could support methods provided by the fluorescence technique. The intention of the study described in this article is to characterise the absorption properties of lubricate oil possible to found in the marine environment. Two types of oil as the representative of lubricate oils using in the ship engines are considered. One form of oil possible to found in the marine environment – oil-in-water emulsion was taken into account for analysis. Dispersed in water lubricate oil samples were prepared for several oil concentration for each type of oil. Spectrofluorometer Aqualog Horiba was used to register the absorbance spectra of oils. Based on the Lambert-Beer law the absorbance spectra were derived and specific parameter – absorption coefficient – for each wavelength of excitation, in the range 240-600 nm, was determined. Obtained results indicate decreasing of the oil absorbance value when excitation wavelength increases. Moreover, basing on the absorbance spectra it could be concluded that the main maximum for this kind of oils is located below 240 nm. However, in the considered range of excitation wavelength small flat peak, centred about 265 nm for both types of oils, was detected. Therefore one could conclude that absorbance of oils could be used as the indicator to detect of oil pollution in the natural environment omitting the labour intensive chemical methodology.

According to the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines, non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) are first choice drugs in prevention of thromboembolic events among patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). According to our knowledge this was the only case of delayed absorption of dabigatran due to ileus. A 79-year-old woman with hypertension and a 1-year history of persistent AF treated with dabigatran (a direct thrombin inhibitor approved for the prevention of stroke in patients with non-valvular AF) 110 mg bid for two weeks. She was hospitalized due to acute abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Signs of acute embolism of abdominal aorta (paraparesis) were confirmed on contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan and she was qualified for emergency surgery. The use of idarucizumab, the specific reversal agent for dabigatran, was considered twice. This case shows that exposure to dabigatran may occur later in patient with acute ileus due to alterations in absorption than it can be expected in normal situation. Such patients should be carefully monitored for a significant rebound in anticoagulant activity.

A concept of a highly sensitive and fast-response airborne optoelectronic hygrometer, based on the absorption spectroscopy with laser light tuned to an intense ro-vibronic absorption line of H2O in the 1391–1393 nm range is presented. The target application of this study is airborne atmospheric measurements, in particular at the top of troposphere and in stratosphere. The cavity ring-down spectroscopy was used to achieve high sensitivity. In order to avoid interference of the results by water desorbed from the instrument walls, the open-path solution was applied. Tests of the instrument, performed in a climatic chamber, have shown some advantages of this concept over typical hygrometers designed for similar applications.

A prototype optoelectronic hygrometer, based on absorption of laser light tuned to a specific rovibronic absorption line of H2O at 1364.68961 nm is described. Target application is meteorology, in particular precise and fast measurements of small-scale humidity fluctuations in turbulent atmospheric flows. Tests of the prototype instrument performed in the atmospheric boundary layer have proven the advantage of this optoelectronic sensor over typical, commercially available UV hygrometers designed for similar applications.

Sound diffusers, in particular those based on changes in the phase of the reflected wave (Schroeder diffusers), have recently gained greatly in popularity in acoustics as an effective means to eliminate defects and improve the acoustic performance of interiors. This paper draws attention to a possibility of shaping acoustic parameters of sound diffusers and fundamental errors made in applying diffusers. Also, an often neglected issue of sound absorption by diffusers has been tackled. The presented results of laboratory measurements indicate a great significance of the diffusers' rigidity and geometry on their absorption coefficient at low frequencies. The effect of arrangement of elements on the diffusion coefficient was analysed for two types of elements based on the prime number N = 7.

In the article, the characteristic of crude oil ‘Petrobaltic’ potentially present in the Baltic Sea water masses is considered in relation to the protection of marine environment. The main spectroscopic method to characterize various oils (crudes and refinery products like fuels and lubricating oils) is fluorescence. However, the absorbance measurements of oils are necessary due to the partial overlapping the spectra of natural seawater components and oil substances. Therefore, properties of crude oil are considered to expand the basis of spectroscopic properties of oils – typical marine organic pollutants – based on absorption measurements. Oils potentially found in the marine environment are, in addition to surface forms, also in-depth ones as oil-in-water emulsion. Therefore, in the article crude oil as oil-in-water emulsion form is considered. As a solvent demineralised water with salinity, corresponding to Baltic Sea salinity was used. Several concentrations of dispersed crude oil were prepared. The absorbance spectra in the UV and visual range of the light in the range from 240 to 600 nm, for each prepared samples are discussed. Based on the Lambert-Beer law for each wavelength of excitation, in the range 240-600 nm, the specific parameter absorption coefficient was determined. Obtained results indicate the rapid decreasing of the absorbance for this kind of oil in the wavelength range from 240 nm to 420 nm. However, in the shape of absorbance spectra is observed the characteristic wide and flat peak located at 260 nm for excitation wavelength, which could be a specific point for this kind of oil.
