W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono charakterystykę soli cechsztyńskich występujących w głębszym podłożu rejonu Zielonej Góry z sugestią, iż zmiany miąższości soli są związane z działalnością lądolodów. Autor zauważa charakterystyczny związek miąższości pokładów soli ze współczesną morfologią terenu.
Paper presents characteristic of Zechstein salts layers which occur in deeper foundation of Zielona Góra region. Author suggests that variation of salt thickness are connected with activity of continental glaciers and notices characteristic relation between thickness of salt layer and contemporary morphology of area surface.

The area around Zielona Góra is regarded as the most northerly wine making region in the world. The development of vine cultivation was determined by an exceptionally favourable climate and a hilly terrain, specially its sunny southern slopes. The tradition of vine growing in Zielona Góra goes back to the Middle Ages and is confirmed by a note from 1314. At the end of the nineteenth century vine cultivation started to decline, a process which went on in the following century. The area of the vineyards dropped considerably from 1400 hectares during the 1860s to a mere 110 hectares in 1937. The last local wine producer went bankrupt at the end of 1990s. Today, wine production in Zielona Góra is being revived thanks to the initiative of associations created by numerous growers, planning new vineyards in the region of the town. An inseparable element of the landscape of Zielona Góra were wineshops built on the plantations. The first such objects appeared in the eighteenth century as typically utilitarian wooden sheds and bowers. Brick houses were erected in the nineteenth century, and in 1865 they totalled 697. Residential and farm buildings, frequently featuring original architecture, survived to the early twentieth century. Today only several examples are extant. The house on 'Winne Wzgórze' is a brick edifice from 1818, surrounded by a vineyard and at present encircled with a glassed-in construction - the Palm House, which functions as a cafe. Several other objects, ensconced among contemporary city buildings, come from the first half of the nineteenth century. Unique objects include the so-called wineshop tower from Budachow (today: in the ethnographic Skansen in Ochla near Zielona Góra). The eighteenth- century two-storey building with an attic is covered by means of a hip roof. A chapel whose history dates back to 1314 was raised to commemorate the victims of a plague epidemic which took the lives of 700 residents of the 'town of wine'. During the nineteenth century the chapel fulfilled the function of a wineshop. The landscape of Zielona Góra no longer features so-called 'naboty' - charming buildings erected on a regular polygonal ground plan and covered with a roof resembling a dome. The major part of the outfitting of the houses, including tools used for growing vine and equipment for the processing of the fruit, has also not been preserved. Scarce surviving examples can be seen at permanent exhibitions held by the Lubuska Land Museum and the Ethnographic Museum in Ochla.

Opis:
Celem artykułu jest analiza wpływu polityki spójności w latach 2004–2006 na rozwój Zielonej Góry. W badaniach, korzystając ze zróżnicowanych źródeł informacji i metod, podjęto analizę wpływu w trzech głównych aspektach: konkurencyjności i atrakcyjności; spójności społecznej i przestrzennej oraz dyfuzji procesów rozwojowych. Z badań wynika, że polityka spójności miała niewielki wpływ na rozwój miasta i jego otoczenia, służyła bowiem przede wszystkim podniesieniu jakości życia.
The main objective of the paper is to analyze the impact of 2004−2006 Cohesion Policy on the development of Zielona Gora (a city in western Poland). It concentrates on three key aspects of the development: competitiveness and attractiveness; social and territorial cohesion; and the diffusion of developmental processes. In our research, we have used a variety of methods and sources of information. Our main conclusion is that the Cohesion Policy of that period contributed more to the improvement of the quality of life in Zielona Gora and its surroundings than to its medium- or long-term development.

The party and state administration, not only in Czerwieńsk but also in other regions of the country, responsible for the development of libraries and the improvement of their working conditions, similarly as in recent years, neglected these issues, focusing on the implementation of educational projects as part of the Thousand Schools for the Millennium of the Polish State. In the cultural policy of the National Housing Estate Council, almost until the end of the period of interest to us, there was no will to remove any shortcomings related to the activity of the library, which was harmful not only to its employees but also to the local community. This approach was possible to continue because this issue was not burdened with the risk of troublesome interference of people representing the highest authorities of the Polish United Workers’ Party. As a result of the „renaissance” of competition in the 1960s, which involved not only libraries but also the committees of national councils (which had the power to make decisions concerning libraries) libraries were established, among others, in the province of Zielona Góra, for example in honour of the 50th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, which was in 1967. Paradoxically, this initiative turned out to be beneficial for the cultural institution in Czerwieńsk, which existed in 1957-1968, because the main task of this undertaking, apart from the obvious pro-Soviet political context, was to modernise libraries. Thirty-six thousand zł were allocated for this purpose. As a result, the housing condition of the library under study significantly improved, not to mention an enlargement of the library premises to 82.8 m².

Przedstawiono warunki występowania węgla brunatnego na terenie Zielonej Góry. Opisano jego pochodzenie oraz procesy geologiczne (glacitektoniczne), jakim podlegał. Pokazano i opisano kilka przykładów płytkiego występowania węgla na terenie miasta. Zaprezentowano także dostępne wyniki jego badań laboratoryjnych.
The paper presents the conditions of lignite occurrence in Zielona Góra. The genesis of the lignite and geological (glacitectonical) processes were shortly described. Some examples of shallow occurrence of lignite were demonstrated and described. Available data on laboratory testing were also presented.
