    Die Anfang 2020 ausgebrochene Corona-Pandemie änderte die uns bislang bekannte Welt in drastischem Maße. Der erbitterte Kampf gegen den unsichtbaren Krankheitserreger und die Experimente mit unterschiedlichsten Schutzmaßnahmen führten weltweit zu Diskussionen, die durch eine besonders heterogene Palette von Themen zwischen Angst und Verschwörung geprägt sind. Aus diesem Grund zeichnet sich der sog. Corona-Diskurs auch für die Diskurslinguistik als vielseitiger Forschungsgegenstand aus. Der vorliegende Beitrag versucht, einen Einblick in die slowakische Corona-Debatte zu geben. Dabei wird einerseits auf die Akteurs- und die Argumentationsebene, andererseits auf den zugehörenden Wortschatz eingegangen. Ziel ist es, anhand einer korpusbasierten Untersuchung Auskunft über die Themen und Denkweisen zu liefern, die im Laufe des (ersten) sog. Corona-Jahres die Kommunikation über das Coronavirus in der slowakischen Öffentlichkeit bestimmt haben.

    This paper focuses on the lexical side of the emergency communication of German paramedics who are learning Polish as a foreign language for professional purposes. The aim of the study is to find out which lexical units arise during language courses and how often. To what extent can the acquired vocabulary be used to develop dedicated programmes for foreign language acquisition in medical emergency communication? The analysis shows that the vocabulary collected here depends on the subject, such as ból (pain) or leki (medicines). According to the participants, symptomy (symptoms) and duszności (shortness of breath) are also part of the common vocabulary. Emergency medical communication can be carried out with the question pronouns kiedy (when) and gdzie (where). Among the most frequently repeated lexical units of vital parameters during patient transfer are saturacja (oxygen saturation) and puls (pulse). The vocabulary collected here should help in preparing a description of the competences which should form part of a language course for professional purposes

    In Grillparzers Trauerspiel Sappho geht es um die Liebesbeziehungen zwischen Sappho und Phaon sowie Phaon und Melitta. Der Autor nützt jedoch relativ wenig den einschlägigen Wortschatz, sondern drückt die intensiven Emotionen mehr durch Syntax und Metrum sowie durch Gesten und Gegenstände aus. Bereits am Anfang verwenden Sappho und Phaon das Wort „lieben“ unterschiedlich, was auf das tragische Ende vorausdeutet.
    In Grillparzer’s tragedy Sappho emotions of love are important but the author uses syntax and metre rather than the vocabulary to express the dominating emotions of love (between Phaon and Sappho and between Phaon and Melitta) and of jealousy. Gestures and objects are also very important signs for the characters’ feelings. The different use of „lieben“ by Sappho and by Phaon foreshadows the tragic end at the very beginning.

    Im Beitrag wird ein bisher kaum erforschtes sprachliches Phänomen der Wahrnehmung und Abwertung behandelt. Im einführenden Teil wird kurz auf die Definitionen der Pejoration, der Schimpfwörter und der pejorativen Lexik eingegangen. Ferner wird auf die Forschungslücke, die im Bereich der Pejoration und Perzeption im Deutschen und Polnischen besteht, hingewiesen. Im analytischen Teil werden der deutsche wahrnehmungsbezogene Schimpfwortschatz und dessen polnische Entsprechungen auf Basis von drei Wörterbüchern herausgestellt. Anschließend wird die Zusammenstellung der deutschen und polnischen Pejorativa aus der quantitativen und semantischen Perspektive auf vergleichende Art und Weise betrachtet.
    The paper discusses the understudied linguistic phenomenon of perception and pejoration. The introductory part deals with the definition of pejoration, slur words and pejorative lexis. Subsequently, the research gap in the domain of perception and pejoration in German and Polish has been pointed out. Based on three dictionaries, the analytical part focuses on compiling German slur words which originate in the perceptual domain and their Polish equivalents. Finally, the compilation of German and Polish slur words has been pondered comparatively from quantitative and semantic perspective.
    Przedmiotem prezentowanych badań są zjawiska percepcji i pejoracji oraz ich relacje na płaszczyźnie językowej. W części wstępnej przedstawiono definicje pejoracji, obelg oraz słownictwa pejoratywnego. Następnie wskazano na zauważalną w badaniach językoznawczych lukę w zakresie percepcji i pejoracji. W części badawczej na bazie trzech słowników zestawiono słownictwo pejoratywne w języku niemieckim z jego polskimi odpowiednikami. W kolejnym kroku zebrany inwentarz leksykalny został poddany analizie porównawczej z perspektywy ilościowej oraz semantycznej.

The aim of this article is to show how a very popular source of entertainment, funny animal videos, can be used to make language learning more attractive to students. The author explores the connections between emotions – such as fun, joy and curiosity – and brain activity during learning.     The present paper aims to emphasize the role of word-formation in teaching German as a foreign language. It demonstrates that the word-formation competence – whose development should constitute an indispensable element of foreign language teaching – is of utmost importance in the process of learning.     Niniejszy artykuł traktuje o roli słowotwórstwa w nauczaniu języka niemieckiego jako obcego. Jego celem jest zobrazowanie, jak ważna dla efektywnego uczenia się języka niemieckiego jest kompetencja słowotwórcza, której rozwój powinien być już od samego początku nieodzownym elementem nauczania. Artykuł skupia się przede wszystkim na etapach rozwoju kompetencji słowotwórczej u osób uczących się na poziomie biegłości językowej A i B.
