Opis:
The World Ocean and, in particular, its resource potential have always had a dramatic effect on the progress and spatial organisation of humanity. Recently, the effect of the sea factor on the economy and the settlement system has increased amid globalisation, geoeconomic changes, increasing geopolitical turbulence, and the growing competition for resources. In this article, I attempt to assess the influence of the sea factor on the socioeconomic geography of the Russian Federation. A country with an extensive coastline and a vast inland area, Russia has territories that are very different in geographical terms. I pay special attention to the post-Soviet changes in the major components of the country’s maritime economy: seaports, fishing industry, offshore production, recreation, etc. Another focus is the assessment of these industries’ impact on the development of the coastal areas. I demonstrate the growing dependence between the maritime economy and the economic development of Russia’s inland regions. I identify the key natural geographic, foreign economy, settlement-related, and geopolitical factors of the coastalisation of the economy, infrastructure, and population, observed in Russia today. This process is taking place in the Baltic, Black, and Caspian Sea areas, as well as in the Arctic and Pacific regions of the country. I conclude that Russia’s integration into the system of multi-dimensional Eurasian partnerships (including the Belt and Road initiative) and the ‘turn to the East’ contribute to both the further ‘marinisation’ of Russian space and the differentiation of coastal zones by the level and rates of socio-economic development.

Opis:
The paper deals with most recently damages caused ship accidents and their number in the World Ocean. A lot of them are a result of bad technical condition or human mistake. The first reason is due to ship age, non- qualitative maintenance and non- qualitative repair of ship hull thought its life cycle, while the second reason is mainly of labour safety neglect. Analyzed period covers 27 years, from 1994 up to 2021. The analyze is done for two ships group- merchant and special ships. The paper described damages on ship hull and its structural members caused ship accidents and environmental pollution in relation with age of ships. The number and degree of marine causalities are analyzed. Moreover, statistical analysis presents the often causalities and areas in the World Ocean by ship and damage types. Finally, probabilistic density distributions of damages were shown by Fisher distribution curve. The damages on Fisher distribution curve are presented independent one another.

Opis:
Background. The profession of seafarer is linked with the contact of many dangerous occupational and ecological factors, which are harmful to seaman’s health and life. Obiective. To analyze areas of constant pirate attacks are similar in their social, economic, psychological and medical components to other humanitarian disasters. Materials and methods. The studies are undertaken on the base of Odessa National Marine Academy (ONMA) and Marine Training Center for seamen, who were passing sequencing employments and reattestation (58 persons, of whom 37 worked in hazardous areas for pirate attacks), students of the ONMA of correspondence form of education (CFE) - 43 persons, of whom 32 worked in hazardous areas pirate attacks, and students of full-time form of education (FTFE) - 89 persons (36 – after trips in hazardous areas), during simulator preparation and handing over of examinations. The survey and interviews were also conducted with 58 family members of seamen working in hazardous areas (mainly mothers and wives). A control group was made by the seamen of port fleet (32 persons) with zero risk of pirate attacks. Results. Conducted interviews and questionnaires of seamen and cadets, who had returned from trips to the hazardous of pirate attacks areas, did not reveal significant changes in their psychophysiological status. This was also confirmed by data execution of psychological tests. Conclusions. 1. In the complication due to the situation on the sea routes associated with the risk of international terrorism and piracy on the high seas significantly increases the importance of seaman’s psychophysiological status and the readiness for an adequate response and concerted action in emergencies. 2. Psychophysiological basis while developing overcome psychoemotional stress is a system of individual and personal qualities, which manifests itself as integrally degree of stability to stress and provides an adequate response in terms of danger and reflection pirate attacks. 3. Stress level can be effectively decrease with the help of psychophysiological training, autotraining and other form of psychoemotional status management, as well as preventive and rehabilitative measures against depression, anxiety, fatigue and other posttraumatic stress disorders. Such methods can be successfully used as a purpose, i.e. before, during and after the emergent situation.

Opis:
The beginning of twenty-first century is characterized with important changes in world shipping and exploitation of ocean resources. Three important trends are clearly visible: environment protection, safety and economy. They materialize in important changes in the structure of world fleet where some existing ship types are going to disappear and new ship types emerge. Increasing the size of some ship types is another visible tendency. Stress on environment protection has serious impact on the hydrodynamic characteristics of ships whether with regard to safety zero accident rate is the goal. Important challenges to ship hydrodynamics caused by those tendencies are discussed in the paper.
