Opis:
Undoubtedly, we have time when, as a result of the dizzying pace, young people grow up in “bizarre cultural patterns”. In the author’s opinion, modern youth are growing up in the space of eccentric signposts that lead to escape in the so-called “New Worlds”. Based on the results of empirical research on experimenting with drugs, psychoactive substances and other risky behaviors, it indicates the causes and effects of escaping in the so-called “New Worlds”.

Lewicki Arkadiusz, Prosta droga do melancholii. O antyutopii 451 stopni Fahrenheita Raya Bradbury’ego i jej filmowych adaptacjach [The Easy Route to Melancholy. 451 degrees Fahrenheit by Ray Bradbury and its Film Adaptations]. „Przestrzenie Teorii” 32. Poznań 2019, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 257–272. ISSN 1644-6763. DOI 10.14746/pt.2019.32.13. The article is an attempt to interpret Ray Bradbury’s anti-utopian novel 451 degrees Fahrenheit, published in 1953, and two film adaptations of this book: the film directed in 1966 by François Truffaut and Ramin Bahran television adaptation from 2018. All versions have a similar story structure and tell about the near future, in which the main task of the fire department is burning books. The differences consist in shifts of emphasis within the world presented. The author proves that the 1966version shows a possible world, which is “an audio world”, while in Ramin Bahrani’s work we are dealing with the “pictorial world”; in the 1966 film the written word is replaced by sounds and the spoken word, and in the version from 2018 by paintings. These differences indicate not only different possibilities for interpreting Ray Bradbury’s novel, but also transformations that took place at different levels of the reality surrounding us.

The author indicates a few of the most common experiences that are encountered, particularly in single-player open-world games where exploration of the world plays a large part of the enjoyment of a game. The experiences mentioned in the essay are: arrival in the world, the gaining of an objective, the revelation of the expansiveness of the world, the first contact with the world’s residents, world routines, travel to the world’s boundaries, and the completist’s exhaustion of the world when one has seen and experienced everything.

In 2016, during excavations on a military site, part 1-24, in Las Puławski, a number of remains connected with the 20th century warfare were found. The field fortifications included front-line trenches, communication trenches and shelters. The analysis of their size and function and the artefacts found in the fills indicate that only one of the fortifications may be connected with World War I. The rest of the trenches were built by the 1st Polish Army, which operated in the area in July and August 1944, during an unsuccessful attempt to cross the Vistula River between Puławy and Dęblin.

From the sinking of the Titanic to the end of World War II, the history of the 20th century conforms to and confirms the behavioral model of stupidity as the learned inability to learn: That is a normal, dysfunctional learning process which occurs when a schema formed by linguistic biases and social norms acts via the neurotic paradox to establish a positive feedback system which becomes first self-sustaining and then renders behavior irrelevant to the environment by carrying detached actions to maladaptive excesses.

Goethe’s philosophical writings all ultimately stem from his efforts to understand the creative act, which he experienced as essentially the same in all the various forms of activity he engaged in, the writing of his poems, novels and plays, his scientific investigations, his service to the Weimar state and participation in the life of its court. In contemplating his creative experience, he developed a unique conception of the soul, which this article seeks to analyze.

Objectives: The aim of this article is to identify the main weaknesses in Poland in combating corruption in the context of the World Bank’s experiences. Research Design & Methods: Various notions of corruption will be presented. This article will also indicate the most important conclusions from a number of previous scientific studies in the field of corruption conducted under the aegis of the World Bank. Findings: Reducing motivation to accept or provide undue benefits is directly related to an increased effectiveness in detecting corruption. The World Bank also points out that one of the most effective tools in fighting corruption is counteracting the legalisation of benefits obtained through corrupt activities. Contribution: In the Polish perspective, a positive correlation between a weaker, less operational state apparatus and the frequency of corruption will be shown.

Opis:
This report deals with the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility. At the beginning there is a part dedicated to explanation of this concept and its different definitions that differ from author to author. First, it is essential to understand the real meaning of the concept and all the areas that it covers. Nowadays, when the world gets globalized many international companies are coming to our countries. Such companies have more or less a very good system of inner business politics in which the concept of CSR is undoubted constituent. Under the pressure that arises with the arrival of international companies, national or local companies start with implementing of CSR within their business policy as well. There are many reasons why companies decide for the CSR. The companies and their activities have impact on the surrounding world. The aim of the firm accepting CSR should be not to cause damage to the society and environment. There should be a sort of control upon the companies and their activities so they do not cause any harm to people, animals or environment. The companies have an impact on their stakeholders as well as the stakeholders have the ability to influence the existence of the firms, though not to such extent. Corporate Social responsibility is a concept that focuses on the responsible behaviour of companies towards everybody who is being impacted by the company ́s activities. The concept can be realized on three levels and these are: economic, social and environmental. The firm applies all of the levels in its business. CSR does not neglect the primary aim of business that is to profit. However, during trying to profit, the company behaves responsibly towards stakeholders. Within the Corporate Social Responsibility we focus on ethics and moral responsibility, responsibilities and virtues in economic decision-making and acting. It is crucial to determine what business means for us. There is a sort of invisible line that we should be aware of and should not cross. It is important not to overestimate the “value” of money and do not put it higher than the value of the person ́s life. The role of the person is not to be in service of money but vice versa. The article deals with the concept of sustainable development in connection with business and CSR. The aim of this concept is to emphasize the importance of doing business in a way that is not harmful to people, animals and environment. Except the environmental sustainability there is also an economic and social sustainability that we can talk about with respect to the concept of CSR.

Opis:
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: This article seeks to outline what may be called a ‘diagnosis’ of the relationship between the church and the world, according to the English blessed, John Henry Newman. In his opinion, this relationship will always be conflictive and it is destined to remain so (an account that seems to be confirmed, and perhaps even accentuated, in our time).THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The discussion, following a brief hermeneutic because of its limited extension, reflects on Newman’s thesis relevant in its thought: the church-world opposition, an opposition on which this author is highly descriptive, and whose approaches do not have any ambiguity.THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The argumentative line of the article stops at three points consistent with each other and coherent within the British religious’s exposition: 1. The customs of the church and the world differ completely. 2. Wanting to adopt the criteria of the world is always a dangerous lure for the church. 3. A dichotomous relationship with the world, a world fallen by sin, is a natural condition for the church.RESEARCH RESULTS: The evident tension between the church and the world emerges from the analysis carried out in the investigation.CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: What is the usual framework of the relationship between the church and the world according to Cardinal Newman? This question, tacitly present in this article, is answered by Newman in a negative way (as it shows with well-founded reasons, in my opinion, a problematic bond which dates from the beginning of the church and that in the future will continue to be so). His thesis confirms and expresses an essential discordance between two realms of different condition: a temporal one, the world, and an eternal one, the church. From his writings on this subject, it is concluded that the mission of the church is to evangelize the world in an incessant way, although the results of it seem always a little insufficient and even infertile.
