    Opis:
    The purpose of this article is to show that religious rationalism presented by Polish Socinian Andrzej Wiszowaty is different from Leibniz’s religious rationalism. At the beginning of the article the author analyzed the dispute between Wiszowaty and Leibniz about Trinity. While comparing religious and philosophical concept of Wiszowaty and Leibniz the author has proved that both philosophers presented different views related to the nature of God, perception of the truths of faith, predestination and miracles. Wiszowaty in a dispute about the Trinity represented Socinian ideas and believed the dogma of the Trinity is contrary to the reason and inconsistent with the Bible, while Leibniz defended the Christian dogma against the alleged contradictions.

    Opis:
    In this article we will analyze Andreas Wissowatius’s arguments which were presented in the discussion between two eminent thinkers: the Polish Socinian and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibinz, a German philosopher of the Enlightenment, in the late seventeenth century. This exchange of views makes it possible to observe the philosophical premises that led Andreas Wissowatius to reject the dogma of the Holy Trinity. The discussion, from which the Antitrinitarians arguments were quoted, became very well known among European theologians and philosophers, mainly due to the reputation which was decades later enjoyed by Leibniz. The discussion became known in Germany thanks to Lessing who was an editor and commentator of the dispute about the Holy Trinity as well as an advocate of tolerance, and a German writer of the Enlightenment.

    The article resumes the discussion of the astronomical interests of the Polish Brethren, instigated by Tadeusz Przypkowski. Focusing on the first two decades of the 18th century, it presents their participation in research conducted by Gottfried Kirch and his family. Reconstructed from the journal entries of the first astronomer of the Royal Prussian Society of Sciences, this area of the Socinian activity included various forms of participation in astronomical observations - as spectators, students, assistants or co-observers. The source material left by the Kirch family confirms that the astronomical interests of this community did not expire at the beginning of the 18th century and were maintained by the next generation of Arians.
