Wireless sensor network consists of numerous small and low cost sensors which collect and transmit environmental data. These nodes are spatially distributed and capable of measuring their ambient. Sensor node is responsible for collecting data in regular intervals, converting the obtained data into electronic signals and transmitting data to sink node or base station through reliable wireless communications. Moreover, these nodes are supplied by non-rechargeable batteries with limited energy. Lifetime and network coverage are crucial factors in WSNs. Thus, particular algorithms must be employed so that energy consumption is reduced. In this paper two clustering algorithms LEACH and HEED are investigated.

Extensive utilization of WSN is the reason of advancement of numerous routing protocols. The Late advances in WSN now witness the expanded enthusiasm for the potential use in applications like Environmental, Military, Space Exploration, Health (Scanning), Vehicular Movement, disaster management, Mechanical anxiety levels of appended objects, battle field observation and so forth. Sensors are required to be remotely conveyed in unattended situations. Propels in WSN innovation has given the accessibility of little and minimal effort sensor hubs with a capacity of sensing different sorts of physical and natural environment conditions, wireless communication and data processing. Assortment of sensing capacities results in bounty of application areas. However, the attributes of WSN require more powerful strategies for data forwarding. The sensor hubs in WSN have a constrained transmission range, and their handling and capacity abilities and as well as their energy assets are also restricted. Routing protocols for WSN are in charge of keeping up the routes in the network system and need to guarantee dependable multi-hop communication under these conditions. Routing as one key innovations of wireless sensor systems has now turned into a hot examination on the grounds that the uses of WSN are all over the place, it is unthinkable that there is a routing protocol suitable for all applications. In this paper, we give an overview of routing issues routing protocols for Wireless Sensor Network.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have existed for many years and had assimilated many interesting innovations. Advances in electronics, radio transceivers, processes of IC manufacturing and development of algorithms for operation of such networks now enable creating energy-efficient devices that provide practical levels of performance and a sufficient number of features. Environmental monitoring is one of the areas in which WSNs can be successfully used. At the same time this is a field where devices must either bring their own power reservoir, such as a battery, or scavenge energy locally from some natural phenomena. Improving the efficiency of energy harvesting methods reduces complexity of WSN structures. This survey is based on practical examples from the real world and provides an overview of state-of-the-art methods and techniques that are used to create energyefficient WSNs with energy harvesting.

Opis:
An original wireless sensor network for vibration measurements was designed. Its primary purpose is modal analysis of vibrations of large structures. A number of experiments have been performed to evaluate the system, with special emphasis on the influence of different effects on simultaneity of data acquired from remote nodes, which is essential for modal analysis. One of the issues is that quartz crystal oscillators, which provide time reading on the devices, are optimized for use in the room temperature and exhibit significant frequency variations if operated outside the 20–30°C range. Although much research was performed to optimize algorithms of synchronization in wireless networks, the subject of temperature fluctuations was not investigated and discussed in proportion to its significance. This paper describes methods used to evaluate data simultaneity and some algorithms suitable for its improvement in small to intermediate size ad-hoc wireless sensor networks exposed to varying temperatures often present in on-site civil engineering measurements.

Opis:
This paper aims at designing, building, and simulating a secured routing protocol to defend against packet dropping attacks in mobile WSNs (MWSNs). This research addresses the gap in the literature by proposing Configurable Secured Adaptive Routing Protocol (CSARP). CSARP has four levels of protection to allow suitability for different types of network applications. The protocol allows the network admin to configure the required protection level and the ratio of cluster heads to all nodes. The protocol has an adaptive feature, which allows for better protection and preventing the spread of the threats in the network. The conducted CSARP simulations with different conditions showed the ability of CSARP to identify all malicious nodes and remove them from the network. CSARP provided more than 99.97% packets delivery rate with 0% data packet loss in the existence of 3 malicious nodes in comparison with 3.17% data packet loss without using CSARP. When compared with LEACH, CSARP showed an improvement in extending the lifetime of the network by up to 39.5%. The proposed protocol has proven to be better than the available security solutions in terms of configurability, adaptability, optimization for MWSNs, energy consumption optimization, and the suitability for different MWSNs applications and conditions.

Wireless Sensor Network finds its extensive use in healthcare applications for the transfer of time-critical data through wireless connectivity. The primary cause of network failure is the transfer of time-critical multimedia data. The article presents a new dfferentiated service modelsupported (DSM) cluster-based routing in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) that overcomes the above issue. DSM prioritizes the transfer of dfferent flow types based on packet type and packet size. The employment of computational offlading minimizes delay for critical and small-sized data packets and by carrying out data reduction of large-sized packets at proxy server. It outperforms the existing protocols in terms of energy efficiency, throughput, and reliability by prioritizing the transfer of time-critical health application data.

Opis:
Wireless sensor networks are typically operated on batteries. Therefore, in order to prolong network lifetime, an energy efficient routing algorithm is required. In this paper, an energy-aware routing protocol for the co-operative MIMO scheme in WSNs (EARPC) is presented. It is based on an improved cluster head selection method that considers the remaining energy level of a node and recent energy consumption of all nodes. This means that sensor nodes with lower energy levels are less likely to be chosen as cluster heads. Next, based on the cooperative node selection in each cluster, a virtual MIMO array is created, reducing uneven distribution of clusters. Simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol may reduce energy consumption and improve network lifetime compared with the LEACH protocol.

Progress of ICT is shifting the paradigm of systems organization towards a distributed approach, in which physical deployment of components influences the evaluation of systems properties. This contribution can be considered as a problem of graph layout optimization, well-known in literature where several approaches have been exploited in different application fields with different solving techniques. Then again, complex systems can be only studied by means of different formalisms which codification is the aim of language engineering. Telemaco is a tool that supports a novel approach for the application of graph layout optimizations to heterogeneous models, based on the OsMoSys framework and on the language engineering principles. It can cope with different graph-based formalisms by exploiting either their core graph nature or their different specialized features by means of language hierarchies. In this paper Telemaco is introduced together with its foundations and an example of application to Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) deployment.

Currently the Internet of Things environment suffer from a variety of unique problems such as low throughput, inadequate support for mobility and notcompatible (and often close) application environments. However, characteristic of physical environment often provides opportunities to address these problems. This paper explores concepts of enriching the WNS environment with context-based information. By context we consider all data available in sensors environment, not only data processed by them. Currently this data are not utilized by sensors, but we think that they can improve overall functionality of the sensor network. We also discuss the practical challenges facing the integration of such an approach into the sensor application stack.

Opis:
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) acquired a lot of attention due to their widespread use in monitoring hostile environments, critical surveillance and security applications. In these applications, usage of wireless terminals also has grown significantly. Grouping of Sensor Nodes (SN) is called clustering and these sensor nodes are burdened by the exchange of messages caused due to successive and recurring re-clustering, which results in power loss. Since most of the SNs are fitted with nonrechargeable batteries, currently researchers have been concentrating their efforts on enhancing the longevity of these nodes. For battery constrained WSN concerns, the clustering mechanism has emerged as a desirable subject since it is predominantly good at conserving the resources especially energy for network activities. This proposed work addresses the problem of load balancing and Cluster Head (CH) selection in cluster with minimum energy expenditure. So here, we propose hybrid method in which cluster formation is done using unsupervised machine learning based kmeans algorithm and Fuzzy-logic approach for CH selection.

On the other hand, more and more application scenarios require sensor nodes to be mobile, which imposes new technological challenges for security. Key management is the core for secure data communications among the resource-constrained sensor nodes. In this paper, based on the Group Diffie-Hellman key agreement protocols and the energy level of each node in the network, we propose Energy Aware Group Diffie-Hellman key management protocol for mobile wireless sensor networks. The simulation results show that the proposed key management protocol provide significant improvement in maximizing the lifetime of networks.

The failure rate of sensor nodes in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks is high due to the use of low battery-powered sensor nodes in a hostile environment. Networks of this kind become non-operational and turn into disjoint segmented networks due to large-scale failures of sensor nodes. This may require the placement of additional highpower relay nodes. In this paper, we propose a network partition recovery solution called Grey Wolf, which is an optimizer algorithm for repairing segmented heterogeneous wireless sensor networks. The proposed solution provides not only strong bi-connectivity in the damaged area, but also distributes traffic load among the multiple deployed nodes to enhance the repaired network’s lifetime. The experiment results show that the Grey Wolf algorithm offers a considerable performance advantage over other state-of-the-art approaches.
