    Opis:
    Wilhelm Feldman – a writer, publicist, literary critic, activist and political thinker, legendary editor of “Krytyka” in Kraków – was also an initiator and participant in many Young Poland discussions. The article is an attempt to reconstruct the basic ideas and intuitions present in Feldman’s major historical works and minor sketches. The author argues that they are philosophical in nature and form a coherent position. His philosophy combines romantic inspirations with the positivist programme of organic work and with elements of independence socialism, constituting an important element in the philosophical thought of Polish modernism in Galicia.
    Wilhelm Feldman – pisarz, publicysta, krytyk literacki, działacz i myśliciel polityczny, legendarny redaktor krakowskiej „Krytyki”, był inicjatorem i uczestnikiem wielu młodopolskich dyskusji. Artykuł jest próbą rekonstrukcji podstawowych idei i intuicji obecnych w głównych pracach historycznych Feldmana i pomniejszych szkicach. Autor twierdzi, że mają one charakter filozoficzny i tworzą spójne stanowisko. Jego filozofia łączy inspiracje romantyczne z pozytywistycznym programem pracy u podstaw oraz z elementami socjalizmu niepodległościowego, stanowiąc ważny element myśli filozoficznej polskiego modernizmu w Galicji.

    Opis:
    The article is devoted to the connections of Wilhelm Feldman (1868-1919) with the theatre, as these problems take up especially much space in his research works: Feldman was a historian of the theatre and of theatrical criticism; he also regularly published reviews and reports of the activities of the contemporary stages. He treated the theatre as an important place in which national culture was created and propagated. It seemed to him especially important in the situation when Poles – who were under the influence of the three invading states – were exposed to the threat of losing their national identity. In his works of the history of the theatre (including the history of Polish theatres from positivism to the contemporary times) he paid a lot of attention to analysis of the theatres' repertoire and the way the plays were produced, to the actors' art and the audience's expectations from them. Feldman not only commented on the manifestations of the theatrical life but also made suggestions for changes in the way Polish theatres worked – from which his conception of the “Polish theatre” may be reconstructed. The theatre was to be based on dramas that had high literary values – contemporary and classical, Polish and foreign ones. Also actors, talented and forming good companies, were tobe a foundation of it. Each premiere – according to Feldman – should be connected with preparation of a separate set of scenery, costumes, special effects and music, so that it would reflect the peculiar atmosphere of the produced dramatic work. Efficient work of a theatre – in the opinion of the author of Contemporary Polish Literature – also depends on the work of critics, the audience's expectations and the financial policies of the municipal authorities; hence, he demanded that they assumed a mature and responsible attitude. A theatre organized in this way, headed by a creative individual, accessible not only to elites but to the whole society, would be a Polish contribution to European culture.

    Die SBB PK verfügt über eine der umfangreichsten Sammlungen von Polonica in Deutschland. Seit Eröffnung der Bibliothek im Jahr 1661 sammelt sie umfassend Veröffentlichungen aus und über Polen mit dem Schwerpunkt im Bereich der polnischen Sprache, Literatur und Kultur, der deutsch-polnischen Beziehungen, sowie der jeweiligen Minderheiten in beiden Ländern. Diese historische Sammlungsentwicklung sowie die heutigen Aufgaben der SBB PK bei der Literatur- und Informationsversorgung der wissenschaftlichen Fachöffentlichkeit in Deutschland werden dargelegt. Wie die Geschichte beider Länder ist auch die Sammlungsentwicklung der SBB PK von zahlreichen Brüchen geprägt. Zur Erforschung eines dieser durch die NS-Herrschaft und den Zweiten Weltkrieg verursachten Brüche startete die SBB PK ein Programm zur Erforschung der Provenienzgeschichte von NS-verfolgungsbedingt entzogenen Büchersammlungen. In welchem Maße davon auch die Polonica-Sammlung der SBB PK betroffen ist, soll an Beispielen herausgearbeitet werden.
    Biblioteka Państwowa w Berlinie – Fundacja Pruskiego Dziedzictwa Kulturowego dysponuje jedną z największych w Niemczech kolekcją poloników. Od otwarcia Biblioteki w roku 1661 gromadzone są w niej licznie publikacje dotyczące Polski, zwłaszcza z zakresu języka polskiego, literatury i kultury polskiej, na temat stosunków polsko- -niemieckich, jak również mniejszości narodowych w obydwu krajach. W niniejszym artykule został przedstawiony historyczny rozwój kolekcji poloników oraz obecne zadania Biblioteki w zakresie gromadzenia literatury tego typu i zapewnienia informacji o niej środowisku naukowemu w Niemczech. Tak jak na historię obydwu krajów, tak również na rozwój zbiorów berlińskiej Biblioteki miały wpływ liczne burze dziejowe. Aby zbadać jeden z tych okresów, związany z nazizmem i II wojną światową, Biblioteka rozpoczęła program badań proweniencyjnych dotyczących księgozbiorów zagrabionych przez nazistów w krajach okupowanych. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jakim zakresie ów problem dotyczy również kolekcji poloników Biblioteki.
    The Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (SBB PK) has one of the most comprehensive collections of Polonica in Germany. Since the opening of the library in 1661, it has been comprehensively collecting publications from and about Poland with a special emphasis on Polish language, literature, and culture, German-Polish relations, and on the respective minorities in both countries. This historical collection development as well as the current tasks of the SBB PK in the field of literature and information supply of the scientific audience in Germany is presented. Like the history of both countries, SBB PK’s collection development is characterized by numerous breaches. To investigate one of these fractions, caused by the Nazi rule and World War II, the SBB PK started a programme of provenance research on the history of Nazi persecuted book collections. The extent to which the Polonica collection of the SBB PK is affected is to be illustrated by examples.
