Opis:
In professional literature on statistics, a constantly growing interest is observed in non-parametric methods. Commonly these methods are based on counting, rank or position statistics and on a number or length of series. In this paper, the least popular tests, namely tests based on a number of empty cells, are presented. David-Hellwig test and a two-sample consistency test are considered. Empirical power of the tests is presented in comparison to classic tests: Kolmogorov and Shapio-Wilk test for testing normality of a distribution and t-Student’s and Wilcoxon tests for testing consistency of two distributions.

Artykuł ma na celu zbadanie i określenie adekwatnego modelu oceny konkurencyjności usług logistycznych w zakresie drogowego transportu chłodniczego. Artykuł definiuje i analizuje czynniki decydujące o poziomie konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstwa. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych usługobiorców sektora drogowego transportu chłodniczego. Na ich podstawie zaproponowano model oceny konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstwa transportowego. Do oceny różnic pomiędzy zmiennymi modelu wykorzystano test Wilcoxona. Uzyskane wyniki badań mogą być przydatne do podniesienia poziomu konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstw świadczących usługi logistyczne i specjalizujących się w transporcie chłodniczym.
The aim of this paper is to examine and modeling aspect of the competitiveness of logistics services in the field of road refrigerated transport. Article defines and analyzes the factors determining the level of competitiveness of the company. The results of the conducted surveys shown basic on road sector refrigerated transport. On the basis of the proposed model of competitive transport company. To evaluate differences between variables the Wilcoxon test was used. The results obtained may be useful for increasing the competitiveness of enterprises and logistics service providers specializing in transport refrigeration.

This report presents the results of a study into the relationship between musical ability and the development of a phonological system by foreign language learners. Our own experiences both as a foreign language teacher and as a musical group leader have raised a number of questions and lines of enquiry. These challenge previous researchers’ findings concerning the allegedly absolutely positive effect of music on language learning and as a result this study has been undertaken.After a brief theoretical presentation, we describe the research project in which learners abilities to distinguish and produce different phonemes as well as the prosody of the language studying are analyzed. Two groups of learners were compared in this study. One group attended a music school. The second group had no musical experience. The study showed that receptive skills were not significantly different between the two groups. The group of learners with musical training was more articulate but this was the only difference. The statistical approach used in analysis of data was the Wilcoxon test.

In 2006, the European Commission presented the Modernization Agenda for Universities founded on three reforms: curricular, governance and funding. According to the agenda, funding should be based on output-oriented budgeting. What is more, investment in higher education should bring benefits to all stakeholders. The most commonly used tool for measuring the private rate of return to education is Mincer’s econometric model. The paper presents the results of research on the private rate of return to education, which was estimated by the classical Mincerian function where wages are modelled as a function of level of education and experience. Empirical research was conducted using individual data from the Social Diagnosis – research of selected Polish households. The study was conducted in two stages. First, the parameters of the Mincer’s model for respondents included in the diagnosis in 2011 were estimated. Secondly, the parameters of the model for respondents, who declared in 2011 having higher education degree and who took part in the diagnosis in previous years (since 2003) and then declared a lower (other than higher) level of education, were estimated. To determine the significance of differences in monthly net incomes before and after reaching the higher education degree, the Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed-Rank Test was used.

In the practice of statistical research, tests based on the number of runs are often applied. It concerns the teste for one, two or more samples. Seldom the length of runs is applied as a test statistic. In the paper, we present a test for two samples based on the run length. Its power is compared with the t-Student parametric test, non-parametric Wilcoxon test and the Wald-Wolfowitz test based on the number of runs.
W artykule przedstawiamy pewien test hipotezy o równości dystrybuant dla przypadku dwóch'prób loáowych. Test ten oparty jest na długości serii. Moc tego tostu została porównana z empiryczny mocy parametrycznego testu t-Studenta, testu Wilcoxona, oraz mocą testu Walda-Wilcoxona opartego na liczbie serii. Załączono 12 wykresów mocy empirycznej ww. testów.

This quasi-experimental study aimed at looking into the effectiveness of blended learning approach in improving the performance in Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) Course of Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) first year students at JBLFMU-Arevalo during the second semester of school year 2018-2019. The respondents of this research were the two sections comparable with each other who were enrolled in the subject ICT. There were 40 student respondents composed of 20 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group. A validated and reliability-tested 45 item researcher-made multiple choice test was used as an instrument with a Cronbach index of 0.88. The statistical tools used were mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney test, and Wilcoxon-Signed ranks test set at .05 level of significance. The effect size was computed to determine the effectiveness of the blended learning approach in terms of students’ performance in ICT. Results showed that in the pretest, though the experimental group had a higher mean score than the control group, the Mann-Whitney test showed that the mean scores of the two groups were comparable because the significant value was greater than .05. When the treatment was introduced, findings showed that there were significant differences in the ICT performance in the pretest and posttest of experimental and control groups as well as in the posttests of both groups. Results inferred that blended learning approach was more than a hundred percent effective showing significant results on the experimental group. It could also be inferred that the better performance of the control group could be attributed to the traditional method of teaching, the lecture method.
