Opis:: This paper provides a review of Andy Gillet’s UEfAP.com site (Using English for Academic Purposes — A Guide for Students in Higher Education). UEfAP.com is an immense repository of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) materials that undoubtedly represents years of dedicated work. It is a well-organised, wide-ranging, easy-to-navigate (well-signposted) and reliable site. Thus this manifestly ‘extensive’ review attempts to describe this ‘extensive’ and noteworthy Internet EAP resource. A key recommendation is that these materials, which may have been designed for self-access use, also be utilised in a modern language-lab teaching classroom.

Opis:: The aim of the article is to indicate the role of the voivodeship government administration in the field of information and education of the region’s inhabitants in the area of security with the use of websites run by the sixteen voivodeship offices of Poland. The author formulates the following research questions: What contents on the topic related to security are posted on the websites of individual voivodeship offices? Are they valuable and helpful for the user who is seeking information and assistance? What are their educational qualities? Are the site and its navigation user‑friendly? In the age of information society, when information is a key value, we want to know quickly and with confidence, which is why we choose those sources of information whose reliability is guaranteed by the authority of the office and the function exercised. As a representative of the Council of Ministers in the area, the voivode isresponsible for security matters there. His or her tasks include information and education of the inhabitants of the regions, and the Internet is undoubtedly a tool for this purpose nowadays. Therefore, the focus was on the content of websites of sixteen voivodeship offices, in terms of the usefulness of the information and materials contained therein for the users seeking advice, and perhaps even help in the event of a threat to life and health.

Opis:: The hereby article presents analysis of hospital websites evaluation criteria in the context of innovations in healthcare sector. Literature regarding hospital websites evaluation performed in different countries is reviewed and results of preliminary studies of websites owned by 100 best hospitals in Poland are presented.
W artykule przeprowadzono analizę kryteriów oceny stron internetowych szpitali w kontekście innowacyjności w sektorze usług zdrowotnych. Dokonano przeglądu literatury światowej z tego tematu oraz przedstawiono wyniki wstępnych badań empirycznych 100 stron internetowych najlepszych polskich szpitali wielospecjalistycznych.

Opis:: Wprowadzenie nowej wersji standardu języka HTML, HTML 5, zaowocowało szeregiem nowych możliwości. Strony WWW otrzymały, między innymi, możliwość odtwarzania informacji multimedialnej w czasie rzeczywistym za pomocą wewnętrznych odtwarzarek przeglądarki (na podobnej zasadzie, na jakiej dotychczas wyświetlane były, np., obrazy), a nie za pomocą zewnętrznych obiektów osadzanych na stronie. Dzięki szerszemu niż dotychczas zastosowaniu języka JavaScript zwiększono również funkcjonalność takiego odtwarzania. Jednym z przykładów zwiększonej funkcjonalności jest technika WebRTC umożliwiająca, między innymi, budowę stron WWW z elementami funkcjonalnymi odpowiadającymi w pełni interaktywnym aplikacjom multimedialnym. Budowa systemu monitoringu, dla którego interfejsem użytkownika jest strona WWW, kontakt z ewentualnym kontrahentem za pomocą (wideo)telefonu uruchamianego wprost na stronie WWW firmy czy kontakt (wideo)telefoniczny klienta z biurem obsługi za pomocą strony (zamiast, jak dotychczas, z wykorzystaniem czatu) to tylko niektóre z potencjalnych zastosowań tej techniki. W artykule omówiony został fragment WebRTC odpowiedzialny za udostępnianie mediów lokalnych (audio i wideo) przeglądarce WWW. Pokazano sposób realizacji takiego udostępniania za pomocą funkcji getUserMedia. Algorytm udostępniania omówiono na przykładzie podglądu obrazu z kamery internetowej.
The Web Real-Time Communications (WebRTC) is a Web-oriented technique, associated with the HTML 5 standard, which allows programmers to use Web pages as user interfaces for real-time, usually interactive, communication. The aim of this review paper is to show the first stage of the WebRTC programming, i.e. getting user's media stream. The paper describes usage of the WebRTC for delivering local media (audio, video) to the local browser, which can share them with other browsers and/or show them locally, in the local video element of the HTML 5. An example of simple and effective video preview is an illustration of the discussion presented in the paper.

Opis:: Wstęp i cele: W pracy przedstawiono opis biblioteki jQuery oraz jej możliwości. Ponadto praca opisuje tworzenie „krok po kroku” interaktywnej zawartości strony WWW z wykorzystaniem biblioteki jQuery. Głównym celem opracowania jest przedstawienie algorytmu tworzenia strony WWW z użyciem języka programowania JavaScript. Materiał i metody: W pracy wykorzystano własny projekt tworzenia strony internetowej. Zastosowano programowanie w języku JavaScript. Wyniki: W projektowaniu przestawiono pełny algorytm pisania własnej strony WWW z użyciem języka programowania JavaScript. Wnioski: Standardy takie jak HTML5 i CSS3 nie są jeszcze w pełni wspierane przez twórców topowych przeglądarek internetowych. Wymusza to niekiedy wprowadzanie do stron dodatkowych linijek kodu (zazwyczaj w plikach CSS) optymalizujących je kod kątem konkretnej przeglądarki. Wydłuża to czas projektowania strony i zmniejsza przejrzystość kodu.
Introduction and aims: The paper presents a description of the jQuery library and its capabilities. In addition, the work describes some creation the method “step by step” interactive website by using jQuery library. The main aim of this paper is to present an algorithm creating website using JavaScript programming language. Material and methods: The study was based on own design creating a website. It has been used JavaScript programm. Results: In presented design has been shown the full algorithm of writing own website using the JavaScript programming language. Conclusions: Standards such as HTML5 and CSS3 are not yet fully supported by the creators of the top web browsers. This forces the parties sometimes placing additional lines of code (usually in the CSS files) to optimize them for specific browser code. This prolongs the site design and reduces the transparency of the code.

Opis:: The aim of this article is to determine the basic genre conventions of electronic magazines, i.e. e-zines. The analysis illustrates the main characteristic features of e-zines, involving their function, format, content and functionality. The results of the analysis show that e-zines represent a group of heterogeneous forms, exploiting the conventions of other electronic genres, and thus creating hybrid constructions. The article presents a preliminary categorization of electronic magazines, carried out on the basis of the differences in content and in formatting techniques of these websites. The study illustrates as well the most recent trends in the form and content of electronic magazines.

Opis:: A very important aspect of websites nowadays is their accessibility. Thanks to modern, constantly evolving technologies, it is possible to create friendly services for each user, regardless of his state of health. Web sites accessibility may be considered in aspects of their functionality and readability. One of methods for exploring this issue is the use of validators, i.e. automated tests to check the syntax of the documents posted on the Internet. The purpose of this article is to compare the selected tools. The structure of the article is as follows. Firstly, we explain the importance of the accessibility of the web sites. Then we briefly characterize our proposal of validators evaluation criteria for studying web-accessibility and present the results of evaluation of selected validators. Finally, we are presenting conclusions.
