Opis:
Family is usually perceived as a source of support. It includes the closest relatives that we turn to for help when in dire straits. In the case of migration, the family also constitutes an anchor of sorts that you can hold on to when the need arises. It is not always, though, that the family plays a positive role. When its role is extended to affect all the aspects of life, it can be seen as an oppressor. In my article I present different forms of the family’s influence on a woman’s choices among Chechen refugees in Poland. I focus on forced marriages and ‘honour’ killings. This article is based on fifteen individual in-depth, partly structured, biographical interviews with female refugee and asylum seekers women from Chechnya who had experienced violence at the hands of a close person. It is supplemented with 27 individual and 4 group semi-structured in-depth interviews with 35 experts, who work with refugees or women with the history of experienced violence. The results show that in case of Chechen refugees in Poland, the family not only fails to provide protection but also its members are perpetrators of violence against their nearest and dearest. It is because of family’s close ties which affect Chechen women in particular but also because of the weakness of the Polish welfare system. Without constant economic assistance from the members of the family (left in Chechnya or residing in another EU country) it is nearly impossible to support a large family in Poland.

Opis:
Gender-based violence and Violence Against Women is well known and empirically documented phenomenon that nowadays in criminology and human rights’ discourse does not raises any doubt. Gender-based violence in every of its each manifestation is a good example of cultural violence. Yet it took feminists and human rights advocates several years to have VAW and domestic violence recognized by public authorities as matter of public concern and action.

Opis:
Violence against women is a serious violation of women's human rights and a significant health issue in many countries. As domestic violence is a subject of high concern in the different countries, there has been considerable research into the topic of domestic violence generally, though there is comparatively less known on health care providers roles related to  domestic violence. Health care providers are usually frontline professionals that victims of violence get in touch with , even sometimes not explicitly. Therefore health care providers’ skills and attitudes are very important when giving  a hand to victims of violence professionally. A special case is Turkey. Where the social structure in Belgium, England and Austria is of an matriarchal nature (in a sociological sense, not anthropologic), Turkey is strongly patriarchally ordered. Moreover, it has a higher level of social acceptance of domestic violence. This paper describes the program in a medical curriculum on violence against women. Simulation which is increasingly being used in health care workers training is used to deliver the program. Standardized patient (SP) methodology is the preferred modality of simulation. SP is a lay person trained to portray a patient in order to simulate a set of symptoms or problems. SPs would have first-hand knowledge, experience and feedback to improve the skills. The simulation program and the experiences of the students acquired during this program are discussed in this paper.

The article deals with the issue of violence against women as a matter of human rights violation. It deals with the issue of violence against women with reference to the characteristics of domestic abusers and the most common victims women in terms of education and economic activity. The article describes the myths about violence and international institutions dealing with violence against women. To write the article was used qualitative analysis of the sources of literature on the topic. To address violence against women and domestic violence involving different ministries and institutions, hence the need to strengthen the legal and institutional framework in order to recognize women’s rights and their protection against all forms of violence. In order to address the issue of violence against women is an important addition to the national level of interest in its solutions at regional and local level. Providing fast, effective and available to help women at risk of violence and their children is often a crucial mechanism for saving lives of women and children, improving their quality of life and punishing the perpetrators. Despite the undeniable shift in the problem of violence against women in recent years it should be noted that we lack a systematic approach and coordinated provision of assistance to women experiencing violence, as well as systematic primary prevention, ie prevention of violence. It is necessary to enact legislation that will define domestic violence, including all its latent form.

Opis:
The Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combatting violence against women and domestic violence (further: Istanbul Convention) became part of the Polish legal system on August 1, 2015. The ratification process of the Istanbul Convention was marked with difficulties from its very opening for signature. The provisions of the Convention have caused – and continue to arouse – a range of extreme emotions and doubts. The fierce dispute that has emerged over the implementation of the Convention in Poland at some point even led to action being taken for termination. As things have been to date, Poland has not terminated of the Istanbul Convention. Five years following ratification of the Convention, in March 2020, Poland submitted a report on the implementation of measures giving effect to its provisions into the Polish legal system, as required under the monitoring mechanism. Poland’s report was considered by GREVIO, with an assessment made of Polish legislation in this regard and an evaluation report issued in June 2021. Notwithstanding the comments that Poland made to the GREVIO report, the key conclusions of the assessment should be highlighted as regards compliance of Polish criminal legislation with the standard of protection of women against violence, including domestic violence, under the Convention. Since the Convention was opened for signature, and in particular since its ratification, the Polish legislator has introduced a range of amendments to the Criminal Code aimed at raising the standard of protection for victims of domestic violence and of effective prosecution of offenders. This text highlights the most important of these changes and presents the current state of implementation of the Istanbul Convention into Polish criminal law.

The paper explores the role of fostering moral-democratic competencies for violence prevention, in particular in the relation to genderbased, intimate partner and domestic violence. Additionally, significant emphasis is placed on the prevention of revictimisation. Violence prevention is framed with regard to the political importance of violence-free homes and intimate relationships for the empowerment of women. The paper refers to the complex situation of women subjected to abuse and the effects of violence on an individual. As a countermeasure, the paper proposes the development of moral-democratic competencies, and recommends the Konstanz Method of Dilemma Discussion® as an example of an efficient method to accomplish this task.

Opis:
This article explores the philosophical and psychoanalytic trajectories of conceptualizing the Covid-19 pandemic as ‘collective trauma’, and considers what would be the risks, but also productive possibilities, of such a theoretical move. the context of this inquiry is the so-called ‘shadow pandemic’ – the drastic increase in domestic violence globally, which accompanied introduction of lockdowns as a measure of containing the impact of Covid-19 on public health infrastructures. For the women who were victims of violence during the lockdowns, the discourse of ‘sheltering’, ‘isolation’ and ‘staying home’ has carried antithetical meanings to the o6cially sanctioned ones – those were meanings of threat, danger, harm, and death. Drawing on the work of two feminist psychoanalytic thinkers, Julia Kristeva and Jacqueline Rose, and on installations by bio-artists Anna Dumitriu and Flo Kasearu, I argue against notions of the pandemic as an external traumatic event that disrupted societies and communities worldwide. Rather, the ‘shadow pandemic’ suggest that there is a more complex, even intimate, relation between the pandemic, violence, and gendered productions of sociality.

Opis:
Since Covid 19 – social isolation process started, 131 femicides and 95 suspicious deaths occurred from April to August 2020 in Turkey. In this context, it can be construed that digital public relations and online event managements have become increasingly crucial in terms of improved social awareness. The research objective is to implement a scale, which has been developed for digital public relations, online events and awareness concepts, on persons who participated in 7 different Webinars themed on women and violence, hence to put forward the power of creating any behavioral change in awareness extent of online events in the scope of digital public relations. Methods: For this research study, a scale has been devised based on the online event model designed as per digital public relations. In this context, the survey method, one of the quantitative research method, has been used. The Cronbach Alpha measure and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin statistic have been used in order to test reliability and adequacy of the survey, respectively, thus the reliability-adequacy measures have been determined. Results: Research findings reveal that the higher online event driven awareness is the more behavioral changes are in digital public relations; that women, when compared to men, are more responsive to digital public relations applications, and have a better level of awareness by comparison; that 18-25 age group is more responsive with better level of awareness to digital public relations applications when compared to 26-33 age group; and that parents’ educational background makes no difference in this. Conclusions: In light of the research findings, it can be seen that digital public relations applications help to create awareness in terms of online events, and also pave the way for behavioral changes. In this context, it needs highlighting that digital public relations applications should be further improved in particular matters such as violence against women in which creating awareness is crucial.
