Opis:
Aim/purpose – This paper examines the relationship between budget deficits and selected macroeconomic variables in Tanzania for the period spanning from 1966 to 2015. Design/methodology/approach – The paper uses Vector autoregression (VAR) – Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and variance decomposition techniques. The Johansen’s test is applied to examine the long run relationship among the variables under study. Findings – The Johansen’s test of cointegration indicates that the variables are cointegrated and thus have a long run relationship. The results based on the VAR-VECM estimation show that real GDP and exchange rate have a negative and significant relationship with budget deficit whereas inflation, money supply and lending interest rate have a positive one. Variance decomposition results show that variances in the budget deficits are mostly explained by the real GDP, followed by inflation and real exchange rate. Research implications/limitations – Results are very indicative, but highlight the importance of containing inflation and money supply to check their effects on budget deficits over the short run and long-run periods. Also, policy recommendation calls for fiscal authorities in Tanzania to adopt efficient and effective methods of tax collection and public sector spending. Originality/value/contribution – Tanzania has been experiencing budget deficit since the 1970s and that this budget deficit has been blamed for high indebtedness, inflation and poor investment and growth. The paper contributes to the empirical debate on the causal relationship between budget deficits and macroeconomic variables by employing VAR-VECM and variance decomposition approaches.

The article discusses definitions of vector space for variance increment and standard deviation increment, as well as definition of scalar product for variance increment. This justifies using a vector calculus for variance increment and allows for emplyoing vector calculus methods for variance recalculated into variance increment. The paper also presents a practical example of combining images from sector-scan sonar based on comparison made between local increments of variance.

In view of the characteristics of low speed mobile ship network, strong network dynamics and large signal interference, this paper proposes a low-rate mobile sensor network routing algorithm. In mobile wireless sensor networks, network topology changes frequently is a new challenge for resource constrained sensor node. Constantly updated network topology, sensor nodes need to exchange data frequently in order to maintain fresh route, resulting in sensor nodes consume a lot of energy. To solve this problem, to reduce control overhead is considered to be an effctive strategy. In this paper, we present a vector network-based dynamic routes (VNDR) scheme aims to minimize the control cost of the sensor nodes. We propose data exchange based on binary-coded vector address to reduce the control cost, moreover, we present a set of communication rules that govern the routes search procedure thereby requiring little cost of packet analysis to determine the next hop of node. VNDR performance was compared with well known scheme such as SPIN and DD. Simulation results show that, our VNDR scheme reduced the network control overhead and improved network lifetime.

A tow pomeron model is used to analyze the distribution of the ρ mesons electroproduction cross section with energy for different Q2. It is found that the steepness in the energy distribution can be attributed to the increase of the respective weight of the hard pomeron to the soft pomeron with increasing Q2. Using some suitable functions to fit the variations of the weights with Q2, a remarkable agreement with the experimental data is achieved.

Solving many problems in mechanics, engineering, medicine and other (e.g., diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging or finite element modeling) requires the efficient solving of algebraic equations. In many cases, such systems are very complex with a large number of linear equations, which are symmetric positive-defined (SPD). This paper is focused on improving the computational efficiency of the solvers dedicated for the linear systems based on incomplete and noisy SPD matrices by using preconditioning technique – Incomplete Cholesky Factorization, and modern set of processor instructions – Advanced Vector Extension. Application of these techniques allows to fairly reduce the computational time, number of iterations of conventional algorithms and improve the speed of calculation.

Opis:
Power electronic circuits (PECs) are prone to various failures, whose classification is of paramount importance. This paper presents a data-driven based fault diagnosis technique, which employs a support vector data description (SVDD) method to perform fault classification of PECs. In the presented method, fault signals (e.g. currents, voltages, etc.) are collected from accessible nodes of circuits, and then signal processing techniques (e.g. Fourier analysis, wavelet transform, etc.) are adopted to extract feature samples, which are subsequently used to perform offline machine learning. Finally, the SVDD classifier is used to implement fault classification task. However, in some cases, the conventional SVDD cannot achieve good classification performance, because this classifier may generate some so-called refusal areas (RAs), and in our design these RAs are resolved with the one-against-one support vector machine (SVM) classifier. The obtained experiment results from simulated and actual circuits demonstrate that the improved SVDD has a classification performance close to the conventional one-against-one SVM, and can be applied to fault classification of PECs in practice.

For two-dimensional manifold M with locally symmetric connection ∇ and with ∇-parallel volume element vol one can construct a flat connection on the vector bundle TM ⊕ E, where E is a trivial bundle. The metrizable case, when M is a Riemannian manifold of constant curvature, together with its higher dimension generalizations, was studied by A.V. Shchepetilov [J. Phys. A: 36 (2003), 3893-3898]. This paper deals with the case of non-metrizable locally symmetric connection. Two flat connections on TM ⊕ (ℝ × M) and two on TM ⊕ (ℝ2 × M) are constructed. It is shown that two of those connections – one from each pair – may be identified with the standard flat connection in ℝN, after suitable local affine embedding of (M,∇) into ℝN.

The article aims at determining the inflation influence between Poland and selected EU member states. Although for some time the general inflation level in those countries was definitely controllable, the problem seems to be returning. That is why in this article, using the model of Vector AutoRegression (VAR) and Granger causality test, we are attempting to determine inflation influences on Poland. The study confirmed the impact of the selected countries on Polish inflation, expressed the general HICP index. However, in the case of Germany, the method has not proved the existence of such interactions. For this reason, it is made an attempt to clarify the reasons for non-compliance findings with data showing Germany as a Polish main trading partner for more than two decades. The authors try to show that lack of influence can be seen in the excessive generality of the main HICP index and predict that the chosen method confirm the effect of foreign trade indices in the HICP.

Celem referatu jest przedstawienie analizy wybranych formalnych własności taksonomicznej metody wektorów nośnych (SVC). Wyniki dotyczące nowej metody SVC zestawiono i porównano z własnościami innych znanych metod taksonomicznych.
The aim o f this paper is to analyse the relatively new clustering method - Support Vector Clustering (SVC) in terms o f fulfilling admissibility conditions. The results are compared within a group o f four other clustering methods. Since it is not possible to assess which clustering method is the "best" in general, given a specific problem the user can decide which method to apply considering some properties o f clustering methods, known as admissibility conditions. This paper expands the knowledge about the properties o f clustering methods with the properties o f SVC.

This paper addresses the problem of data sharing among multiple parties in the following scenario: without disclosing their private data to each other, multiple parties, each having a private data set, want to collaboratively construct support vector machines using a linear, polynomial or sigmoid kernel function. To tackle this problem, we develop a secure protocol for multiple parties to conduct the desired computation. In our solution, multiple parties use homomorphic encryption and digital envelope techniques to exchange the data while keeping it private. All the parties are treated symmetrically: they all participate in the encryption and in the computation involved in learning support vector machines.
